  1. It was 4 seasons ago so my memory is probably off on the following, but I always took Bishop's advice to Lucy in season 1 as being in the context of Lucy being a rookie only and that it would hurt her career if she was dating another cop while being a rookie. I also remember a scene in the episode where Lucy got kidnapped where Armstrong told Lucy that she should only date cops and not civilians. I always took that as the writers backtracking (slightly) on Bishop's advice and opening the door for Lucy to be involved with another cop.
  2. Great article. I wouldn't consider myself a shipper (well except maybe for Steve Austin and Jamie Summers) but I did/do enjoy a well written romance where you can root for the characters to wind up together. The obsessiveness of some fans and shipper wars does turn me off though. I'm thankful that social media wasn't around during the 80's when 2 of my favourite shows (Moonlighting and Remington Steele) were on. I could just sit back and turn in every week to watch. I can only imagine some of the extreme reaction from shippers those shows would have gotten if social media had been around at that time.
  3. I came across this wonderful deleted scene from season 3 and I really wish they had kept it in. There's something poignant about seeing them dance together and realizing that they did not end up together. I've said it before, but this show really gets to me as it hits all the right emotional beats for me. Being the right age having seen the movies as kid when they first came out in theatres and now getting to revisit the characters + 35 years later is truly a wonderful experience. There is nothing really deep about the writing on Cobra Kai, but I do love that how they honour and respect the earlier movies that came before.
  4. I have to agree with you that every word counts especially since that scene was followed up with Lucy deciding not to testify in her abduction case against Rosalind. IMO this is leading up to the return of you know who.
  5. Average episode overall and like other posters mentioned this one had too many plot points. The twists with the hackers and the kidnapped boy were completely unnecessary. I like the show revisiting the Rosalind story because it felt unfinished to me since I believe she originally was convicted based on evidence that was illegally obtained or planted by Armstrong. That felt like an unresolved plot point in my mind for her to be in jail on those charges so this gives the show the opportunity to resolve it and bring back one of the better villains if that conviction is overturned based on illegally obtained evidence. And with Lucy not testifying in her own kidnapping, then there's likely less evidence pointing to Rosalind being behind Lucy's kidnapping so Rosalind can go free on that charge too just in time for the season cliffhanger. That Promo OMG! ..... of course I'm referring to Badger being back. 😀 But seriously, I'm glad for those that want Chenford, they are getting a few bread crumbs in next week's episode.
  6. Me too. She is one of those guests that Bill Maher keeps inviting ** on the show that I wish he would stop. It's not that I disagree with everything Bari Weiss says, it just that she comes across to me as that little girl that is desperate for validation from the adults in the room, so she'll give these long winded opinions and speeches to show how smart she is with the only intention of getting acceptance from the adults in the room. She comes across as a phoney to me. The audience should stop rewarding her by applauding everything Bari says. Surprisingly (well not really!) the topic of cancel culture came up again on the show Friday night. It's not a bad topic per se but Bill Maher doesn't need to bring it up every single episode. There are plenty of other interesting and discussion worthy topics happening right now that could be covered. Given her past in trying to silence those with a different opinion than hers, Bari Weiss should not speak on the subject of cancel culture unless it's to admit that she is a big fan of canceling others whenever their opinion defers from her own. ** In addition to Bari Weiss, I wish Bill Maher would stop inviting Rick Wilson, Bill Krystol and Ann Coulter to name a few.
  7. Since Chen's potential new love interest is DA Chris Sanford, looks like we'll finally get "Chenford". Then we'll get a Chenford vs Chenford shipper war from fans of each.
  8. All these Bailey scenes featuring her at work make me think that the producers are trying to setup a backdoor pilot for a spinoff show around her. I honestly wish they would go that route because the character is taking away from the other core characters (Lopez and Harper) along with the new recruit (Thorsen). And I would drop all together any future romantic storylines involving Nolan. NF struck gold on Castle but that was a long time ago. None of his romances on the Rookie have been interesting or made me want to root for them. That says something if every single potential pairing for Nolan has fallen flat. IMO of course. If they want to write a romance with obstacles that I can root for, let them continue writing the Chenford romance.
  9. They've definitely taken a step back on setting up a Chenford romance since the season premiere instead of building on it. The writers are just not very good at writing a genuine interesting romantic arc and then plotting it out correctly. Not just Chenford, but also all of Nolan's relationships. The next few episodes will feature romantic obstacles as both Bradford and Chen will get each a new significant other that will make the other one jealous. Sigh, more generic romantic obstacles just to delay them getting together (feels like I'm watching Magnum PI here!).
  10. Hi Darian. The scene is from the season 1 episode called "Frank, the Potato Man", Kimberly confides in Kenny about unwanted sexual advances from teachers or the fathers of her friends. It's another one of the great season 1 episodes from PF.
  11. Be My Valentine was a well constructed mystery with a great twist at the end. Even better than the episode Remembering Rosemary that aired earlier in the season. BMV aired right after "Body Politic" and showed how great PF was to me. After a thought provoking court case the previous week, viewers are treated to a clever police procedural episode the following week.
  12. I had to look up the episode titles but the following ones from Season 1 are my favorites as they showed how truly great PF was. One week you would get a court case, then the following week an episode focusing on a family drama, another week you would get a crime of the week procedural, etc. I loved that all the characters got to shine and got their own individual story arcs. The Body Politic Thanksgiving Be My Valentine Season 1 and 2 are fantastic in IMO. You can't go wrong by watching them all. Season 3 drops a bit in quality and of course Season 4 goes off the cliff once DEK is gone.
  13. Love this show. Such a great cast of characters played by some wonderful actors.
  14. I remember watching the first few episodes of Bones and never got into it. DB was still Angel in my mind so it was hard to picture him as a new character on a TV show. Glad to see that there are a few TV couples where everyone actually liked each other. I wasn't much into the Castle romance (I actually preferred the weekly cases) but even without searching the net for details, it was obvious to me that the was a lot of friction behind the scenes with the 2 leads on that show.
  15. Fareed Zakaria's special report on China will be airing tonight after being pre-empted last week. I'm looking forward to watching it but I have to disagree with his Real Time comments about China from last week. I'm on the side of Bill Maher on this one. China is well position to be the dominate global power in the next few decades. We live in a much different world than when Russian was a threat to the U.S. so I don't agree with Zakaria's assessment or comparison. The big difference for me, is that the U.S. economy is much more dependant on China than it ever was with Russia. We've seen so many American corporations bend to China the last few years that's downright scary. And it's true, China has been picking fights with many other countries and has been getting away with it.
  16. I'm one of those that bought a physical copy of the album (yeah I'm that old 😀) and I'm very happy that the Band got their first Grammy nomination with this song. It's a well deserved nomination IMO but also I also think that it's more of an apology from the academy for them not recognizing the genius of Abba's music in the 70s. I'm still amazed at the overall quality of this Album. Truly a gift for Abba fans.
  17. I agree. There is still some type of power imbalance although just not as direct as it was before when he was her TO. Who knows maybe they'll bring it up again in the context of exploring the Chenford romance. They kind of hinted at this when Lucy was aiming to be Bradford's gopher in one of the earlier season 4 episodes. I'm only speculating here, but I think Bradford's abrupt ending to the Bet with Lucy was his way of acknowledging that their flirtatious banter is inappropriate in the context of the current power imbalance between them.
  18. Alias could have pulled a Sheriff with their 2nd album. That is getting a chart topping hit years after the band spilt up. The first Alias came out in 1990 and is actually pretty good IMO mixing some hard rock songs with power ballads. They then recorded a 2nd album in 1992 (minus the former members of Heart) however the album was never released by the record company because by 1993 stations were playing grunge and alternative music. The 2nd album was finally released 15 years later after it was recorded and just like Sheriff, the band at that point was no longer together. However no songs on the album chartered. 🙁 I actually think that Freddy Curci (lead singer of Sheriff and Alias) is a fantastic singer and really underrated.
  19. One of my favorite one hit wonders is "When I'm With You" by Sheriff. It's an 80s tune that shows up frequently on various power ballad compilations. I love the story on how it became a # 1 hit. Originally released in 1983, the song failed to chart in the U.S. reaching # 61. Sheriff released only 1 album and they broke up the following year. Several years later after the band split up, a DJ in Vegas started playing the song and it started gaining momentum. The listeners kept requesting it and word got back to the record label who then re-released it again. And it became a # 1 hit this time in 1989. I remember listening to Casey Kasem and he would introduce the song as a # 1 hit from the band that no longer exists. The song also has the distinction for the leader singer getting a Guiness World Record for longest held note in a U.S. hit single. https://youtu.be/JyIGlUoTh9I
  20. In one of the online interviews that I read, the show runner mentioned that one of the reasons why Chenford never happened in the past was because of the obvious power imbalance between the 2 characters and he didn't want to go there. I actually respect that choice. Before exploring any potential romance between the two of them, the show runner mentioned that he wanted to make sure both characters would view each other as equals on the show. I can actually imagine his pitch in the writers meeting ...."Ok writers, we need to make Bradford and Chen as equals in the eyes of the viewers... I know! I'll write an episode where they compete in a scavenger hunt and have it turn out in a tie. There you go ...equals. The viewers will love it!"
  21. I agree. The last few seasons of Castle was just awful from the perspective of the main character being written very childlike. Nolan is better than Castle but the more Nathan plays him as the seasons progress, the more he is starting to resemble Castle with very goofball reactions to everything. It's like you wrote, Nathan is playing him as an enhanced version of himself. Even Bailey is turning into Beckett. The more the episodes we get of Bailey, the more we discover that Bailey is perfect at everything in life and has soo many skills ala Beckett on Castle.
  22. Kevin O'Leary is a smug SOB. I was a bit disappointed that Bill didn't take a shot at O'Leary's failed attempt at pulling a Trump when he ran for leadership of the Conservative party in Canada a couple of years ago. In a truly Bizarro world we've would have gotten another 4 years of Trump and O'Leary as Prime Minster of Canada. Ugh. That being said, O'Leary is no idiot and in the interviews that I've seen, he has a pretty good grasp of business/economic policies. He's not wrong when he pointed out that all the gov't stimulus programs around the world have created a huge bubble in asset classes and fuelled the stock market to record highs. With rates is still very low and the inflation that we are seeing now, it's not going to be pretty when the bubble bursts on the stock and the real estate market when it eventually happens. The brief discussion on Capitalism was interesting and I wished that it would have continued on the panel. Yes Capitalism is the best economic system that could have happened, but it does have a dark side and we are witnessing it right now with the huge wealth inequality, the environment being exploited in favor of profits and corporations having way too much control/influence over government policies regardless of which party is in control.
  23. I would prefer the two killers idea since the story arc has been a snoozer so far. Much to my disappointment we have to eliminate Bailey at this point since there is no logical reason for the writers having her break into the house and discovering the hidden box under the desk if she was really involved. So she's out as a suspect. That leaves either Fred faking his death or the pesky neighbor as the killer.
  24. I watched recently "City of Passion" *** and really enjoyed it. It actually references those two season 2 episodes that you recommended. I was surprised to see Erik Estrada in these 3 episodes and he was actually pretty good as the Cop who's marriage is falling apart. I've been sampling episodes from the first 4 seasons and I have to say that even though it last many seasons on NBC, I think that Hunter was a very underrated show during that period. I don't think it got enough recognition for being a very good cop show. It's gritty and not afraid to take chances with the storylines. *** WendyCR72 ... hopefully in the original broadcast there wasn't that much original music since I watched these episodes on my flawed Region 1 set 😀
  25. Castle, Remington Steele, Moonlighting ... seems all my favorite romantic detective shows had co-stars that really hated each other behind the scenes.
