  1. Another tragedy . . . apparently, Ryan Knight died at 29. Condolences to his friends and family. I'm just going to shake my head now.
  2. I forgot about that. I guess we can't all hock loogies like Keith. fishcakes . . . better halfwits than the quarterwits of Nicaragua. Remember Fabio and the others? Not good times.
  3. Wes on Exile Island is this week's "Secret Scene." I like how the clue basically says, "Dig here, dumbass." I guess the rest of the episode was too good, so it was cut from the episode.
  4. Two thoughts on next week's episode(s): 1. Any reason why we're going with two hours? I'm screwed, because I'll have to rearrange my TV and posting schedules in order to watch that and Arrow. Is this going to be "A Very Special Survivor"? 2. Oh, it's the Vote On Who Pisses You Off And Potentially Trap Yourself challenge! It's been too long since we've seen that. Personally, if I'm in a majority alliance and want to lay low, I'd "spread the love" and insist my friends do that as well.
  5. I think Natalie won the game. She found an idol, the other two got cashed in, and there's no guarantee that another would be put into play. And she has the alibi of being on the stupid rack (or whatever you call it) for three hours, trying to "win" for her alliance. And she only stepped down because Probst put damn near everything on the plate. "Wes . . . the tribe has spoken"? No, Jeff, two people (Jon & Jaclyn) "spoke." Seriously, though, I loved the multiple idol play, because of all the negated votes. I can't hate Wes or rain on him because I would've dropped off for the wings. And I don't even drink beer. Besides, compared to the Wes I usually have to put up with (on The Challenge), this one was downright peachy. I liked the reward. Turns out few Nicaraguans have played the majors, so it's not exactly a hotbed. Still, it was nice for the winning team (and Missy) to get to play ambassadors . . . and better them than John Rocker. And I think we may have seen Jon or Jaclyn's winner edit with their talking of her malady. I'm still hoping Natalie wins though. Survivor shouldn't be a couples-based show. Who said the title quote? I liked Wes' end speech better . . . "You gotta risk it to win the biscuit." Not really relevant to how he played the game, but I think it's folksy enough to warrant an episode title. ETA: I don't think this is the worst group ever. I believe the finalists' absolute values are very low in terms of like/dislike, but I don't think the gameplay is that bad. They're not even the worst players to compete in Nicaragua.
  6. Heading into the late stage of the season, I have to say . . . aside from John Rocker (always as if one word instead of two names), I don't think there's anybody worth putting on a "best all-time" and "worst all-time" list. For instance, I'm rooting for Natalie, but mostly because she's from TAR and hasn't done anything stupid beyond cussing out John Rocker. And I can't think of her sister Nadiya as "The Crazy Twinee" because I thought the first vote was flawed. Just a big group of "meh" for the most part, though your mileage may vary. Personally, I think we'll forget all about S29 as soon as S30 kicks off. ETA: I'd throw Probst on the "worst ever" pile, editing be danged. I guess familiarity really does beget contempt. Over in The Challenge circles, I'd joke about host TJ Lavin being a poor man's Jeff Probst . . . then I realized that Jeff Probst himself is a poor man's Jeff Probst.
  7. Heads up . . Comedy Central will be airing all three South Park Thanksgiving-themed episodes tonight: 9 p.m. "Starvin' Marvin" 9:30 p.m. "Starvin' Marvin In Space" (not a Turkey Day special, but an amusing follow-up) 10 p.m. "Helen Keller: The Musical" (with Gobbles the Disabled Turkey!) 10:30 p.m. "A History Channel Thanksgiving" (featuring a halfway decent takeoff on Thor)
  8. Perfect for fans of The Amazing Race . . . catch this episode, then see dentists Misti & Jim compete! ETA: That was weird. Not odd-weird, but offbeat-weird. I take it "Tiffany" is a boy? Who would've guessed getting your teeth fixed In Ooo would involve ants? Including one voiced by Lucy Lawless, apparently.
  9. Green Coke? But it's not St. Patrick's Day. Or is it supposed to be a holiday theme? Carl makes his pick just in time for Thanksgiving. I guess he's got family, and doesn't hang out with the food items next door. Hanged Man . . . Agent Carter is a spinoff from Captain America: The First Avenger, following the adventures of Peggy Carter during/after WWII. She's popped up a few times in flashbacks on Agents Of SHIELD, so the two series should be synched up. ETA: Anyone else dealing with snow and/or rain today? I know, it could be worse, but it's still a bit nasty.
  10. The original credits had the first five members: Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp and Sanji. Chopper didn't show up until the crew hit the Grand Line with Princess Vivi in the Drum Island arc. We're getting the abridged version of the show through the flashbacks.
  11. Just found "Jeffisms" on the show's YouTube site. Seems like something a hater would create, mixing and remixing Probst's catchphrases, but it is a bit of fun.
  12. Monitor or not, Wells is a bit of a prick. But at least he's a prick that ties up loose ends. Now we have just one prisoner at STARLab, and he probably doesn't know any incriminating about our beloved characters. Would it be considered spoilage if we parsed out who was who in Wells' speech? All I remember are Ralph Dibny and Grant Emerson. Dunno if Wells meant he got them killed or just destroyed their lives. And at least Iris isn't completely useless or cringeworthy, even as a damsel in distress. I don't think it's the writers' trying to overcompensate, and it puts her a leg up on pains in the ass that are on primetime these days. I think we figured out how to make Eddie entertaining . . . keep him drugged up. He's funny when he's high on meds.
  13. Here's a preview of the new episode. Basically the same stuff as in the teaser from Friday, but with the Cyclists surfing. Which kind of makes sense, since I vaguely remember Bethany trying to ride a bike. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVtszpK4U0Y&list=UUPY3wSqgeErW9AI5qPLcLUA&spfreload=10
  14. From the show's Comedy Central site: no new episode this Wednesday.
  15. So . . . that happened. Great for Gordon to tell the Mayor off, but now he's gotta deal with the proto-crazies in Arkham. Selina and Bruce have great chemistry. This should be something both can laugh about 10-20 years down the line . . . assuming that the show doesn't kill either or both of them up in order to deviate from the formula. I liked Bullock and Alfred working a "Bad Cop/Rich Butler" dynamic. And Alfred was able to kick some ass, which was fun to watch. Seriously, when does the Mayor eat a bullet? I figure it's only a matter of time before he gets on the wrong side of somebody. Hi, Eddie! Bye, Eddie! Speaking of near-absent cast members, Oswald's absence could be felt throughout the episode, but it wasn't too jarring. Can't wait until January to se how things play out. And no Barbara, which . . . bonus!
  16. I highly recommend it. It's the only TAR DVD set that I have, because I want extras on my DVDs, dammit. TAR1 is a stark contrast to the current version, but you have memorable teams and priceless moments.
  17. New York Giants: choke artists, or choke artistes? It's supposed to be around 70 degrees tomorrow, albeit with rain. I just don't know with the weather anymore. Oh, and I got something new up on my blog. Feedback would be nice. ETA: What are y'all doing for Thanksgiving? I'll be home, entertaining family from New Jersey. The next day, I'll get up early to score 40 percent discounts at a comic shop.
  18. ETA: Well, that was fun. Jake seeks to become a brick, and winds up doing play-by-play of a bunny's struggles in the woods. Play-by-play that gets broadcast to all of Ooo and the secondary and tertiary characters. Pretty charming, really.
  19. ETA: Huh? Seriously . . . huh?!? So Prismo is alive again, attached to an alternate version of Jake? Somebody help me out.
  20. This is the first of four episodes that will air this week on Cartoon Network. The thread should be open at 7:15 p.m., Eastern time. ETA: I counted three voices from Futurama. Fitting for a weird Magic Man-influenced episode.
  21. Speaking of Timmy . . . is it weird that I didn't really blame Timmy for trying to throw Katie into the Inferno, yet I more or less gave up on Holly and Christena? Timmy was cornier than a Nebraskan's stool, yet I can never hate him. I didn't throw in Kendall, because I liked how she goofed on a mission and botched her team's plans to send Katie to the Inferno. Also, her coat was the second-best part of RR: Campus Crawl for me, after Sarah.
  22. If Wikipedia is to be believed, we'll be having Nami's story next, followed by Sanji and Chopper. ETA: Here's the Funimation dubbed version of the first opening credits. I think "We Are" is so beloved, it's been used twice more in the credits.
  23. I had a thought: It's somewhat amazing and/or crazy that two of the most storied lovebirds (for lack of a better term) were known for their initials. I know we don't spell the name "Ceetee" or initialize "DM" . . . I just found it funny when I put some thought into it. ETA: Here's a letter I fired off to BMP. I know, it'll fall on deaf ears, but it's a good excuse for me to copy and paste it onto my blog, which I never get around to writing on.
  24. I hated how I felt the need to root for Katie. I felt that Sarah was more fun to root for, and Katie was a bigger scrub. But then her own team sought to put her in Infernos, and that peaked with Abram throwing a mission in the least concealed manner ever. Of course, threatening to kill Veronica was a good move into my heart. I like how she stuttered In an interview before blurting out, "Screw a couple more cast members, slut!" Good times.
  25. Not sure where else to put the news that CN will be airing new episodes this coming Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. You can find out more information on the show's Tumblr site.
