  1. I have to ask . . . are the devices that generate wind power called “windmills”? Mentally, I default to Holland. Watching the president shoot his mouth off was painful to watch. Did not think he’d have a grudge stemming from windmills ruining his golf courses’ aesthetic. I will say coal is tangible, perfect for hucking at someone you don’t like.
  2. New season starts this Friday night on HBO.
  3. I still hold out hope for One Piece. Someone commenting on Facebook said that it wasn't that popular on Toonami, and that the ending is years off. It's still great, though. Also thinking if Toonami runs out of My Hero Academia, Assassination Classroom would replace it.
  4. "Ooooooooohhhhh . . . we're halfway there . . . . whuh oh . . . livin' on the hope this season isn't a complete clusterfuck . . . so take my hand . . . not you because you touched Bear and Paulie, and I don't wanna get a disease . . . whuh oh . .. " Basically, this week was about team dynamics . . . trying to keep one's partner happy while balancing alliances. And then Teege blows that up at the very end. Everyone plays for themselves, "final relic" indicates that there won't be any more immunity, and a $750K payday for the winner . . . and guilt-free to boot! Also, the chance to vault past Johnny on the money leaderboard. I hope it's Wes. He wins, he flies past Smashley AND it gives Johnny a case of major butthurt. What's not to like? Nice mission concept. One of those things that has probably been on a drawing board for a long time, and nobody got hurt. Well, Wes got in Bear's grill, but I don't think he was going to hit him . . . even though Bear clearly deserves it at this point. Worst part was Cara enthusing about Paulie's dick. Has any Challenger in the history of the series disappointed that many fans over a short timespan? The only way it would be worse if she started getting friendly with Dionne from Go Big Or Go Home. I didn't think he was human so much as a collection a carnival-born diseases with a hivemind. Also, Kyle had to her that. I'm sure he's still an asshole, but Cara is doing everything short of going A Clockwork Orange on him, forcing his eyes open and making him watch footage of her and Paulie fucking. On the Facebook group, most of the people bitched out Hunter. I didn't really understand. Georgia blinks at TJ's implied threat, and we get Paulie & Natalie taking out Killa Kam (Pukeah Kam?) and Boy Ashley. Great concept for a Killing Floor, even with Kam spewing. Some of that may have been bile from when Wes said that her kid would be disappointed in her. That was a bit low. Leave parents and children out of the drama. And afterward, we got to see Natalie dance like she just cleared a course on American Ninja Warrior. In other words, probably for the first time ever. Hunter isn't popular now. Jawing with Turbo next week might get him death threats. And security is seen holding Turkish Delight back, so you know he's mad. I want a lot of things to happen this season, and one of them is Turbo not turning into a dick.
  5. Once again, I am so ambivalent towards a season, it barely hurts. Maybe it's because the magic (for lack of a better word) from DvG isn't there. Or maybe Survivor is basically something I watch before The Challenge. With that show, I make emotional investments. Granted, most of them are not healthy for me, but at least I can keep track of the game. Do you think players have to be told that a challenge continues until someone wins or Probst yells for them to stop? Lauren just falls to the ground with a thud, Dr. Medic (forgot his name) and his team rush in . . . meanwhile, Victoria and Aurora are still keeping blocks wedged with their heads, and Aurora is trying to bargain. She doesn't come off well. It's probably editing and/or production rules, but you can imagine her at Ford's Theater, all, "No, seriously, are we going to see the rest of the play?" And since when do we see players talking about the Loved Ones visit and considering it a benchmark? Is one of them bringing drugs? I'm assuming this was done in past seasons and the footage got cut, but it feels weird even if there is foreshadowing. Nobody on EoE taps out. With the letters they've been getting, you'd think they'd memorize the island to the last grain of sand, noticing if anything was moved to shove in an idol or advantage. One, he calls himself "Wardog." Two, Probst calls him "Wardog," so he would be okay with him winning. That should be two strikes. An idol status bar. Something we always needed, yet never knew we needed it.
  6. I was thinking "Has it passed Wonder Woman?" Turns out that movie "only" grossed $823M globally, and the only DC Comics-based movies to hit $1B and beyond were by Christopher Nolan. Basically, the "DCEU" brand doesn't inspire confidence . . . not as much as MCU. Potential side fight: Goose vs. Hoppy the Marvel Bunny. Or how about Tawky Tawney? Either way I'd think Goose would be the odds-on favorite.
  7. Here's the Death Battle preview for the Hero Formerly Known as Captain Marvel. The actual "fight" is next week; I don't know whom to pick for the win. Carol has gobs of power and military experience, but Billy has magic that can hurt even Superman. Disney bought up theaters to boost numbers? It must be nice to believe any delusion. While Captain Marvel might have been unknown to the bulk of the mainstream (re: non-geeks), the MCU did a good job bringing her to the big screen without too much alterations. Basically, she has that in common with the Guardians of the Galaxy. The idea of Marvel and DC execs diving into piles of money and unable to hear hardcore haters is amusing. Heaven forbid they retaliate? "You know, we were gonna have Kamala Khan briefly pop up in the second Captain Marvel . . . but fuck it and fuck the haters, watch for Ms. Marvel in 2022!" ETA: Spoiler for the Captain Marvel/Android 18 fight.

    1. Always a classic. 2. How does chance of injury increase? Also, according to ESPN at this moment, the Rays are on top of the AL East at 5-1. Orioles trail them at 4-1. Just figured I should state that for retrospective reading.
  9. What's important is that we are main to the main story. Also, we get to hear Naruto try to rap. "Try" being the key word.
  10. Regarding the U.S. version: Two recent Survivor contestants hosted their own versions years ago. It's a crying shame that they will probably never has as much clout as the first few casts did, because they could have tried to relaunch The Mole somewhere. Anywhere.
  11. I'll have to check the situation when I get home. SOP is that I go on the weekend. I tried getting tickets for Captain Marvel at a new theater in my borough, but I couldn't get those. It's one of those places where you can have stuff brought to you. I've done that, but I wish to share the experience wit my mother. ETA: Nebula and Rocket holding hands . . . awwwwwww. In Rocket's mind: "Yeah, even if you live through this and be a good person, I'd still rather do this with the others. Even Mantis, and she gets horrified by the stuff going on in my head."
  12. Funny . . . I don't think the president's name came up once in that episode . . . but Trevor did use "eating pizza with a knife and fork" as an example, so I think that would count. Trevor's impression is good in short bursts. I'm good with Alec Baldwin on SNL. Anthony Atamanuik is probably at the very top, but I couldn't withstand 22 minutes of the President Show anymore because it grates that much. Weirdly enough, I think that's a compliment from me. He was so good, but I couldn't take "EXCUSE ME! EXCUSE ME!!!" anymore without cringing.
  13. I only recorded the first 90 minutes on DVR. How long did it last? I look up Adult Swim's site, and it suggested that GMP was over four hours long. ETA: Just realized that 8 p.m.-midnight was also April Fools Day. [as] didn't do anything beyond GMP, right?
  14. With CW's recognized Arrowverse trinity taking a few weeks off, the most batshit child of the family returns. Once again: why can't we have 22 episodes of LoT? Tonight, romance took two 95-mph fastballs to the genitals. Avalance breaks apart, and Mona watches her forbidden cryptid get killed. But she turns into whatever Konane was, so things get more complicated and ridiculous . . and for this series, that's a great thing. I can see where Ava was coming from, but I feel Sara was in the right. I don't think Ava is heading for the one-dimensional morality seen on Black Lightning and Supergirl, and Hank is the main bad guy (as least before Neron meets the Legends), but she was being a hardass. Luchedors. How could you go wrong? Konane fucks up history, then the Legends inadvertently fuck it up worse. Par for the course. Also appearing: hot Avalance dancing, the random Nick/Zari pairing (just for show), John getting denied smoking yet again, and the unmitigated horror that is Ray Palmer: Interim Captain. Zari "only" came aboard last season, but she's the better option to replace Amaya as the substitute. Ray's nice . . . but he's too nice. The only other original Legend is Mick . . . yeah. Cute that he's now an established author. But you need him to bust heads more than to lead people. Zari cleans up nice. So does Sara, but we've known that several times over already. I'm guessing the Prof. Stein puppet will appear again. So will Gary, even though he's basically a magnet for abuse. "WHERE IS MY NIPPLE?!?"
  15. Team Four Star has put up their third "Kai" episode. Kind of. Sort of.
  16. New schedule starting on April 13: To say that Jojo's Bizarre Adventure getting put back to 3 a.m. ticks me off is an understatement. I mean, there's far greater things to be passionate about either way, but I like the smaller things. Watching JBA at 1:30 was fun.
  17. I'm thinking it's not a male/"#NotYou" thing. The Fawcett/DC Comics version has been around almost as long as Superman, the origins have only been tweaked a few times, and Billy Batson was usually Captain Marvel (there was a miniseries with Freddy Freeman trying to earn the mantle). On the other side, Marvel Comics have had seven different Captains Marvel, including Mar-Vell, Monica Rambeau, and Carol Danvers. Some would see DC Comics backing down and letting Marvel have that name without condition (re: the book title would have "Shazam" in it, but the hero was called "Captain Marvel). Of course, that might be an excuse for butthurt guys to piss on Carol/Brie, and they probably wouldn't know that Elvis Presley based outfits on Captain Marvel Jr. No, for real. I'll watch Shazam! ASAP. I would be skeptical about its potential, but Wonder Woman and Aquaman carried expectations and then some. Wait, Disney bough tickets to jack up the totals? That makes total sense! When I went to see it, I had a clear view of the screen. The people are either side weren't as lucky, because the big round ears blocked the action. 🙄
  18. Looks like I was way off in my predictions. “Well, we slagged local newscasts enough. How about a montage of legendary broadcaster Vin Scully shooting the breeze about any darn thing?” I’m guessing that was a shelf ANT, because he’s been retired for a few years. I stop watching wrestling ages ago, and it looks like I made the right call. Of course, I wat ch The Challenge, so I still inflict needless middling pain on myself. I’m hoping John takes on Bunim-Murray Productions one day. As for asking fans to speak up at next week’s event . . . while I’d bet the overlap between WWE and LWT fans is bigger than one might think, I think all that would happen is a bit where a wrestler beats the shit out of twenty twee-sounding British people, all dressed alike, all with horrific accents. Also, all wearing glasses.
  19. What a coincidence . . . article on the Archer panel at WonderCon. There are details and a few spoilers on how characters will be translated into Archer's latest delusional fantasy.
  20. Bit of a letdown this week. I chalk it up to Lex withdrawal. Also, "All About Eve" implied we'd learn more about Eve, but she was barely in the episode. We did get his dopey aunt (grandaunt?) though. Even the bit where she faked being burned was sweetly hilarious, in a "she can't fool anyone, can she"? way. Of course, the bit we saw last week about the POTUS declaring war on Supergirl was shoved to the back. Did Red Daughter straight-up murder people, or just burn them? Either way, she is committed. Smart of Kara to look for a hiding place lined with lead, dumb of her to not see Eve was a hologram. And then she got shoved into poisonous armor. Was that because the producers wanted to give us another taste of Kara's head, a la Iron Man? Basically, J'onn's subplot was "His dad tells him to do him." So James has a superpower now? I guess it would be too much to ask that he change into a giant rampaging turtle. Speaking of remembering the Silver Age . . . I'm guessing all attempts (assuming the last one wasn't counted) were for trying to badger Superman. And I'm betting half of those happened when Lois was either away or already kidnapped. Now I'm remember a Jerry Seinfeld bit about how useless Jimmy Olsen was on the TV show, and now I'm imagining a tied up James trying to make a phone call with his nose. I think that's funny with either rotary or modern.
  21. Give them enough time. I will say that any portrayal would be better than MTV's Made in Staten Island. I think only 2-3 episodes aired before it got shelved because of protests. BTW, where are you? I live in Richmondtown.
  22. I'm guessing the Highway Star Go Go arc might be the weirdest one this season. For now. I mean, the Stand of the week mostly appeared as feet. I wonder if Yuya Fungami has a foot fetish. Then I wonder if he'd get along with Kira. And yeah, little Hayato has problems. "Mom never gets naked for Dad. Well, not like that." Me: ". . . the fuck?!?" I'm guessing having an identity thief in the Kawajiri house isn't that bad of a problem. Rohan is still kinda funny, even though he comes off as a snobby snot. With the Cee-Lo game, he starts laughing. Then Josuke starts laughing. They both laugh. Then Rohan chops off his little finger. The whole scene was delightful; Josuke's panicking that Mikitaka can't hold onto his pose as dice, Mikitaka slowly puking out of his pips. Rohan knowing Josuke is cheating but not know how . . . and then Rohan's house burns up. Oh, and some of the furniture was used in the filming of Pretty Woman, which . . . that's just random. Anybody make references to The Room while watching Rohan examine the room in the tunnel. Like, "You're tearing me apart, Josuke!"? I've never seen the movie, but I've heard bad things. And, once again, Josuke shows he's not merely a meathead. Trapping Highway Go Go in the car was pretty crafty. So was sucking off an IV bag while getting drained of energy. Yuya could have been sympathetic, but he was just another asshole. And weird. I mean, if your sense of smell gets jacked up, and one of the girls fawning over you is on her period, you shouldn't just announce it. Finally, this is the original undubbed scene with Koichi and the nurse. Sometimes, the original audio is much funnier.
  23. Good episode. Has anybody gotten credit for coining the phrase "the gay Tupac" in terms of Jussie? Because I think that would go to Jaboukie Young from The Daily Show. Fuck you, SNL. I don't spell "checks" with a "Q." 😜 Cecily sold it so hard. I think one of her shoes flew off the second time she fell over. I mean, if I heard an actress of SNL would pratfall, I would have thought of Aidy. The real one sucks. Kinda like seeing Kate playing KAC in sketches, then seeing the real deal. Is there a count on how many male characters Kate has played? I'm just curious. Her portraying Rudy Giuliani as a Nosferatu-style vampire never gets old.
  24. Same here. Not much, though. I got to see the first act of the first episode at NYCC. I liked “Dreamland” and “Danger Island,” so “1999” should be a blast as well.
