  1. I don't see Tai turning on his bromance with Scott. He seems locked in to me. Really hope I'm wrong.
  2. I felt this episode conveyed so well that moment when you "wake up". I've experienced a night very similar to that (many years ago) and it was so revelatory. Everything was different afterwards. Props to the writers.
  3. Poor Lauren. Shane and Liam are a very believable couple. I like that Amy is finally kissing girls again in the promo for next week, but why do I get the feeling Felix is end game? To be fair the two actors do have chemistry so I guess I can handle it if they go there.
  4. Yep. Must have been painful to finally hear that the only reason Karma kissed her was her narcissism and need to be loved. Ouch. Are we supposed to believe that's 100% true? I think what comes next is that Amy really does move on, actually becomes very happy with someone else, and Karma gets jealous as per usual. At some point she may question whether her narcissism line is totally legitimate, but this show is unlikely to get the episodes to explore that. So thanks to the show-runner for several years of Karmy baiting.
  5. I guess I didn't express that well. I've found this season notable for the fact that Clarke's relationships feel like they are going to be an integral part of the structure of the show, where they were not last season. The focus was away from your classic YA romance, there was no telegraphing of imminent pairings. But in this season there was a boring sense of inevitability about Clarke and Lexa getting briefly together, Lexa getting killed and Clarke eventually being with Bellamy (expect developments on this front around the finale). In other words I felt it very early on veering away from the progressive and unpredictable path (and I'm not even referring to the LGBT element there) they took last season towards the standard crappy romance that the CW is known for. So I was out.
  6. I stopped watching two episodes before Lexa's death, just because it was being so obviously telegraphed and I hate seeing characters I love die. If the show had maintained the standard it set last year overall I would have kept watching anyway, but it had lost its way. It had devolved into a show focusing on a predictable love triangle and lost all the really interesting dynamics that made it what it was. I don't know what it was they got right in S2 (a certain combination of writers I suspect) but it was a big step forward on what was a marginally watchable S1. S1 at least had the Lord of the Flies element to it, S3 is just a hot mess. Such a terrible waste.
  7. Yeah it's such a shame this season is rating so badly, as it's stronger than ever. I do worry that the Karma-Amy dynamic will be mothballed once they get past their current issue though and then we'll be back to watching the usual Karma/Liam car crash. I think there's a lot of promise for where they are going with Amy and Lauren, however. I hope that by season end (and probably show end) whilst we are not going to get Karma and Amy properly together, we are going to get Amy realizing just how significant Lauren is to her. That wouldn't be such a bad way to go out.
  8. Great episode. I'd forgotten how much I liked this show (I binged it after it leaked last season, so it's been a long time). I do love how complexly the relationships are written. I understood both Karma and Amy's perspectives, as much as I wanted to see them reconciled they both had a right to be a bit pissed about how things turned out. I'm hoping the final scene means we're getting more Lauren/Amy bonding, their relationship is probably my favorite thing about this show.
  9. So the list was wrong again yes? Keith was supposed to go this week, not Abi.
  10. Good question. Personally I would have liked a little more time in the finale dedicated to Nora, as well as Jill and Laurie. It's the only really off key note in the episode for me. I can fill in the gaps myself by assuming her dramatic experiences with Mary waking up and then what happened to the baby on the bridge and the whole GR fracas were enough to drive her home, but it would have been nice to see her motivations fleshed out a little. Yes! I can't decide if I want to be Nora or am just a little in love with the character. She's awesome. I know people can go overboard with the Lost parallels with the Leftovers but both shows have deeply explored the tensions that exist between science and faith. And for me Nora is "Man of Science" (aka Jack) whereas Matt is "Man of Faith" (aka Locke).
  11. I thought this was a great finale and completed the depression allegory nicely. Having finally shed himself of Patti (the persistent wound) through a near suicidal intervention Kevin can begin the long journey ahead to put his life back together should he so choose, but something unexpected occurs (the gunshot). On the brink again, finally he opts to fight for his life and for his home, appreciating at last that it is enough. There's a lot of little loose ends I'd like to have seen tied up but I accept that I probably won't ever. That's kind of the joy of the show, the uncertainty is part of the ride.
  12. Kass, Ciera and Kelley Wentworth on the same tribe is a bit of a dream for me, three of my favorite survivors. And on Team Joe too, so unlikely to be going anywhere. Of the three tribes I can see that one actually starting to unite and be something of itself going forward. Which is good because otherwise I feel the Old School players are likely to take control and make it to the end, as they seem to be the only durable cross-tribe alliance. Apart from Jeff they are all deathly dull, so I'm rooting for the more recent players.
  13. I was a bit confused by this too. For a moment I thought Piper, in stating Emma's mom was a monster, was going to reveal she was the earlier killer, or at least somehow actively involved. But then that fizzled and I reinterpreted it as Piper just laying it on thick with the rage, and the writers trying to establish a motive for Piper's revenge. So I don't know if that was deliberate or not. I do think that the original killer is still out there, and obviously has to be around the age of Emma's mom (or older). Maybe we'll get introduced to them next season, or maybe they're either the mayor or Audrey's dad, the only two other parents we've been shown.
  14. Well like many I thought Audrey was involved from the get go, the stereotypical killer lesbian. You only have to see how poorly they deal with sexuality in Faking it to know MTV would be this crass. My guess is that Audrey is in love with Emma, that her situation parallels Daisy and Brandon in some way, and that will come out in time. And most of us had guessed Piper was Brandon's spawn and likely one of the killers, so that was an anticlimax. They kind of telegraphed that, what with Piper going all crazy eyes lately. The one surprise for me in this episode is just how much I did not want Brooke to die. I'll probably tune in next season because I've grown attached to her!
  15. I think Piper is definitely a lock for one the killers. I would have liked Kieran to be one of them as I dislike the guy as a love interest for Emma, but oh well, he's been too telegraphed now. The big question for me is who is Piper working with? If Piper isn't one of the killers I think she's at the very least Brandon's spawn. We've still never had an explanation for Audrey having a picture of Brandon James up in her bedroom (episode 1) so as much as I don't like that scenario she may be involved.
  16. I liked everything bar Nick. I'm not a big fan of junkie characters. Also the actor mumbled a lot of his lines, I had real difficulty working out what he was saying half the time. There was a Last of Us feel to the traffic scene, which I appreciated. I liked the step-dad more than I expected to at first blush. Alycia Debnam-Carey was awesome as always.
  17. Some neat theories in here. I was thinking about who would actually shock me if he/she was involved, which is a good litmus test for a successful slasher story. I could only really come up with one person: Emma's mother. So now I'm hoping it is her (she'd probably have to be working with someone for the logistics to work) because, actually, there is something off about her. Up until now I've just assumed it's because the actress is doing a poor job, but now I'm rooting for her to be a little evil. I'd like the show to do something different. The slasher being a love child of Brandon's (or whoever the original killer was) would be very Harper's Island and unoriginal.
  18. Everyone's journey is different, but I have to reiterate a point I made a while back - if Amy IS bisexual I don't feel like her arc has been very authentic feeling, to me at least. There is definitely a place for a bisexual character to be properly portrayed on television, in the young adult space I don't feel like it's been done much at all. But Amy's story has been so all the over place and I've never really believed she is properly into a guy. I guess you can argue that bisexuality is of itself a very variable thing, so expecting her to follow a path I recognise is inappropriate, but I can't shake the feeling it's just confused, bad writing to date rather than a confused sexual identity. Anyway, I'm looking forward to Lauren's storyline, though I agree the age difference is a bit sketchy!
  19. Yeah I'm disappointed to hear that too. This show would work best as a once off TV event, like Harper's Island. Or at least as an anthology. If they are trying to turn this into a long term series it's going to get very Pretty Little Liars very soon. If a show is going to be this trashy I don't want to be kept on the hook. I was creeped out by that too. I wasn't sure if they were trying to key us into some inappropriateness there or if it was just poor direction.
  20. I've felt from the start that it's Audrey. I can see MTV going down the well worn path of the lesbian (sorry, bi-curious) girl being the big bad, probably because she's had a life long crush on Emma and felt rejected. That and she's probably related to Brandon James in some way (why did she have his pic up on her wall at the end of the pilot?) and is repeating his craziness around a crush. When Rachel was being stalked prior to her death, it was actually Audrey's voice broken with static, or so it seemed. Yet in all other cases the killer has used the standard voice morph. And she's been absent at all the right moments. And dammit she just looks like an actor cast to be multifaceted. This episode was okay, plenty of tension despite the lack of deaths. Brooke did actually grow on me in this episode, as was intended. Is this show meant to be a multi-series thing? Because unless it starts drawing things out really drastically we are going to run out of characters pretty quickly.
  21. Just got around to watching this first episode (do they still call them pilots on Netflix?) and I think I'm in. I did not like the opening sequence, it felt too dark and gritty for my usual tastes (I like my TV light and fluffy with a side of serious normally) and yes Daryl Hannah still can't act. But once we got into exploring the main characters it grew on me. Conceptually I like it, connecting consciousness/perceptions up like that is an appealing and actually not so out there idea. But I don't want the show to become all about the big bad behind it, I'd prefer to just see how the characters handle linking up and maybe give a slow reveal to how it's come about. I feel like shows like this can get so bound up in the why that they stop delivering on the main concept that made them beautiful/interesting in the first place. I agree about some of the ham-fisted telling rather than showing of backstory, but I was surprised by how quickly I took to some of the characters. The DJ in particular - that scene at the end there was nicely acted and well shot and scored. The use of 'Kettering' was perfect. That was a moment of art that touched me, and will keep me around for a few more episodes at least in the hope of more.

    S31: Voting

I'm most interested to see Kass and Ciera again.
  23. The biggest news there is the S3 pickup, I didn't expect that so early. To be honest I doubted they'd get a S3 with Awkward ending. Anyways everyone seems super slutty in that promo, but as Cranberry wisely notes the Faking It! promos are always full of misleads. I'm sure the Karmy kiss at the end there is some sort of scam. Amy going back to questioning her sexuality again is a bit tedious. If she's bisexual or fluid that's fine but I don't find her journey very authentic so far if that is what they are trying to depict.
  24. Yeah she was just a kid really when she said most of that stuff. It doesn't excuse it, and it certainly makes me wonder about her upbringing, but we all tend to shed several skins between the ages of 18 and 23.
  25. Is season four even confirmed?
