  1. I didn't know they were Cancers, or that Willam had a book out! Bob is a Cancer, too. I can imagine they choose a lot of Cancers for the potential emotionality. I love that Willam, Bob, and Bianca never let their emotions get the best of them.
  2. Jennifer Hudson was loud, assertive, competitive, over the top, and vocally talented. Kelly Clarkson is loud, assertive, competitive, over the top, and vocally talented. Both could be considered obnoxious, yet Jennifer was pretty heavily panned while Kelly is beloved. What is the difference?
  3. Well, that escalated quickly. I'm in. I'm intrigued to see where it goes. Did Christina Hendrick's character paraphrase a line from Thelma and Louise?
  4. I agree. She's being very naive, but I think she'll wise up soon. Nobody has commented on the kid freaking out in the bathroom. I'm guessing that being shocked wipes memory? And nobody on the show is yet making the connection that when you call Jefferson, Black Lightning shows up to fix things. About them goggles......if looking at them is like looking into a bright light, I need people at least squint when they look at him. I did like the voice changing effect. I will never not love that fool trying to get a selfie with Black Lightning before being knocked out. BL was just too through with him, lol!
  5. That Lady Eve...I love this character. She always intersperses practical pearls of wisdom with her menacing asides. Last week, it was thank you notes, this week, making sure one's resume' is accurate. My daughter and I adore her style, and we would dearly love for her to meet Gotham's Fish Mooney. It didn't occur to me that she was embalming someone alive. For some reason, I thought she was bringing him back to life somehow. When that thug called Anissa a bitch, it pissed me off, but, her cocky smile in response was everything. An odd moment was when Jennifer announced to Khalil that she had quit track, and his rather bland response to it. She made a face, which I took as disappointment in his lack of response. He didn't offer gratitude or appreciation, or even ask her why or talk her out of it. I pointed this out and my teenage daughter suggested that 1) Maybe he didn't know how to respond, or 2) He didn't want to question her choice. I don't know. I feel like he just took it for granted, like quitting track to support him was just a given. Black Lightning just strolling into places bugs me! I get that he's down to earth, but it feels too casual. Also, how does he get places? Is there a vehicle? Does he walk everywhere? Can he turn off the suit as he walks from place to place?
  6. I kinda got a kick out of the two guys that have to dispose of Lala's victims. They just stoically handled their business. They did seem a bit troubled at LaWanda's death. I'm not sure how I feel about BL just walking up to Lala's building in full sight of everyone. Guess I'm used to Batman-like skulking, lol! People mentioned about the girls not recognizing BL as their dad at the motel when he came to rescue them last episode, and they addressed it this episode. There was something else from last episode that people commented on that was addressed tonight that I can't remember..... Seriously, little sister? We gonna get drunk AT SCHOOL? At the school where your dad is principal? GURL. Your very smart boyfriend is HOT, tho'. I almost felt bad for Lala when he died. ALMOST.
  7. You are so right about the lighting! Everyone just glows. I could weep for joy at the awesomeness of this show. I want it to last a long, long time. Please, TPTB, DO NOT screw this up!
  8. I am so in love with this show! The characters and relationships all felt very real. A total emotional rollercoaster. I'm here as long as it lasts.
  9. I know Mae Whitman as the voice of Katara in Avatar: The Last Airbender. It will be cool to match a face with the voice. I didn't watch Parks and Rec regularly, but I do remember Retta on it. I didn't recognize Christina Hendricks, and I was a huge fan of Mad Men and her character Joan.
  10. I was really looking forward to this, and, unfortunately, I was bored. I miss Jeff Foxworthy and Mary Berry. I recall previous seasons being much better than this. I will watch a few more, though. Jessie and Valerie seem to be contenders.
  11. I'm starting to wonder if they have Janice's mic turned down too low. Her voice seemed to get lost during the Team Miley song. I'm cool with all the leopard print, but MAN! I HATE those bead-fringed shorts Miley is wearing. Oh, man...........I FELT Janice's performance of that Sia song. It was not technically perfect, but, there was so much emotion in it.
  12. I felt this way, too. The band was definitely too loud in the beginning, but, she came through. I thought her entire performance was wonderfully relaxed and confident. Being first is not in her favor, but I hope she is voted through so that I can hear more from her.
  13. I need every piece of Janice Freeman's look. She was serving some serious Grace Jones realness. I'm intrigued by her voice, but I'm not sure if I love it. I wouldn't mind listening to an album by her to explore it further. But, DAMN, I could devour her style all day long. I've enjoyed Brook's voice the most so far. Sigh. Noah. He is so good he annoys me. "Listen" is my least favorite song from "Dreamgirls". This rendition did not change my opinion.
  14. SIMON! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!! Damn, Asher, you touched it with your bare hand! Michaela, handling that sh*t like a BOSS! OMG! Damn, Damn, DAMN! Too, late, Annalise, these guys are too stupid to live! DAMN!
  15. I hope this image is ok to post here, but, I just stumbled across the inspiration for Lorraine's outfit: http://media.gettyimages.com/photos/tim-gunn-and-heidi-klum-greet-the-audience-during-the-project-runway-picture-id844855112
  16. This thread is awfully quiet. Uh oh. Woof! Fallon's on a pretty steep learning curve. Priorities, woman! People tryna help your silly self, and you waste opportunities and good will on pettiness against your stepmom. I hate how she treats Michael. He seemed so forlorn at the club, but Fallon's old classmate seemed ready to sop him up. Cristal wrapped up in that shredded blanket thing trying to seduce Blake, who wasn't even in the room, was a hoot. Those crazy kids!
  17. The DSP special was silly and random and pointless. I loved it because it totally embraced these things. The kid tried to apply logic or tack a deeper meaning/moral onto any of it, and nope! All about that candy! DSP is strictly a force of irrationality and fun, and I am OK with that. Bill Hader as Vincent Price was priceless. Total voice of reason drowning in a sea of self-absorption and incompetence. DSP would make his head explode.
  18. Portia, looking perplexed: "What are cents?"
  19. Whoa! That was HEAVY! It was so refreshing to see Viola Davis portray a moment of unabashed joy. I was devastated right along with her as Bonnie unravelled her lawsuit. I am late to the HTGAWM party. I watched briefly in the first season, and stopped after the scene where it appeared Annalise was being forcibly held down during sex. I had no idea about Annalise and Bonnie's tortured relationship. Seeing how it all began was fascinating. Anybody think Bonnie and Annalise might join forces? I don't even get the how and why of Laurel's behavior. Michaela is nuts for putting her budding career on the line for her. THEM SHOES, THO'! She ain't ready for them. Be damned if Michaela's boyfriend doesn't have her number.
  20. Thanks so much for clarifying the names! I watch while doing other things, so I missed the names and probably some nuances. I appreciate how the show is exploring issues of race, class and sexuality. Lot's of POC, and they seem to be integral to the show. Bring on Alexis! I can't wait for her to arrive and swallow both Fallon and Cristal whole.
  21. I did too! It was just so goofy. The way it looked like she fell, Fallon should have had some scrapes, bruises, a limp, something. She flopped into that grave like a ragdoll. Cristal pushed her so casually, as if on a whim. Cristal is an interesting character to me. It was a powerful moment when she made clear that her allegiance was with the Carringtons. Also impressive? Fallon being able to deliver her lines while her driver was kissing her boobs. Speaking of him, I caught that hostility he was throwing toward Colby. I wonder is Colby is at all aware of it.
