  1. I'm enjoying Christina a lot more this season than I used to. She seems more fun and comfortable with the guys and less like a diva hothouse flower. She also fights harder for contestants than the other female coaches have , which I like.
  2. That I can't answer for you. I find nothing about his character compelling or attractive--which is not about Bobby himself, who I really liked in Nurse Jackie-_it's about the role, direction and how it's being played.. So far the only character that I actually was impressed by was Dice's. He was vile and disgusting, but he was hilarious and the portrayal was brilliant. There has been no other character that I look forward to seeing. No heroes. No anti-heroes. It's odd.
  3. A couple of notes: the New York Dolls were a huge failure as far as record sales. They only really became critical faves due to punk. So passing on them wasn't seen as a failure for a record company. England Dan and John Ford Coley did have some big hits. Ironically, one of their biggest was a cover of Love is the Answer, a Todd Rundgren and Utopia song, who was name checked in this episode and who produced the first Dolls record. Most A & R people are/were sheep.
  4. Whoever was cast as Alice Cooper was very good. He actually spoke like him. Also liked seeing The Raspberries.
  5. The writing of Ray Romano's wife was offensive. Yes, the Jewish wife only cares about the expensive Bat Mitzvah and whether the car was messed up. Not whether her husband was injured in the accident. Because Jewish women are shrewish, nagging stereotypes who only care about money! And here I thought the awful casting and writing of Robert Plant and Mick Jagger's son's inability to act were going to be the low points of the show for me.
  6. To qualify, since it seems important to you, I thought she was sharp and didn't have a great tone quite a few times when she was belting the higher notes on Blue Bayou. I really didn't get why the coaches were as in awe and smitten as they were. She was good, but for me she wasn't dramatically better than everyone else in the episode. I guess it played better live in the room.
  7. The first battles was the best episode of this season. And my fave battles episode I've ever seen. Covers of songs by The Jam, Joy Division, Kate Bush and Sinead/Prince. It was really wonderful. The coaches are doing a good job coaching so far.
  8. I thought she was a bit screechy.

    S01.E01: Pilot

Jagger's son can't act. He was awful. Dice, however, was awesome. Really bummed we won't be seeing more of him.
  10. The only thing I remembered about Jess was how much I hated her shirt. Shelbie Z I remembered. I can't believe idol is going to allow a voice reject to win...
  11. I read somewhere that Will complained about the number of novelty acts this year. I can see why. This group is really narrow in what they'll turn around for. No country, opera, metal, a dislike of show tunes, very little rock. It's a narrow collection. Which hurts the show. Ricky's "faux humbleness" and flirting is now annoying me. It's the same thing every time. George is fantastic with contestants who no one turns for, but awful at pitching for ones he wants. Paloma and George seem to need each other's approval to turn. Somehow, wacky Will has now become the elder statesman! ITV should get Roger Daltry.
  12. More than half of those producers are writers. Those are titles that writers get as they move up the ranks in Hollywood.
  13. They want/think Porsche is going to win. They gave her the pimp slot and made sure we know how selfless she was to switch to another team who needed her. She's the Kelly Clarkson bookend.
  14. This season seems weak. I miss Tom Jones!
  15. I bet George only does this one season because his ego is so hurt by all the turn downs. Tom Jones your phone may be riniging again! The heavy metal guy they semi-montaged, who no one turned around for, was a finalist on The Voice Ireland. He's really spectacular--and a much better singer than many of the ones they did turn for. It's a pit that he didn't go through.
  16. Lupe Carroll- "If I were a carpenter." I'm not sure what season this was, and I don't think he made it past the battles, but according to iTunes, this is one of the most listened to songs on my iphone. And I never particularly liked the song that much, but his version is absolutely gorgeous. Edited to add: he was on season 5. Cee-lo turned for him and I think he lost to Cole (whom I ended up loving) in the Battles.
  17. I posted a few weeks ago after the episode where Durring complained to Jonas about Carrie being crazy that he was doing it to get him out if the picture because he wanted. Carrie for himself. Remember how he talked to her about how Jonas had his feet on the ground whereas the two of them reached for the skies (or some similar analogy). I don't know if that's always been his end game with her, but it certainly has been since she saved his life. It was pretty obvious. He sees her as someone smart who takes huge risks in life like he does. She of course, was oblivious to his agenda.
  18. Damn, two shows killing off major characters in their finales in one weekend. Ouch!
  19. I liked when Gwen told Koryn to be herself, then showed her how to move, then Koryn mimicked Gwen's moves exactly. Be Gwen's-self!
  20. Was it ever said she was having sex with Krupin?
  21. Emily was a shriek fest last night. I like that she has started doing bluegrass arrangements, but, with the exception of her Judds song, I've cringed through all her performances. And last night's was the worst. Patsy's grave was a turning last night. Shame on Blake for being ageist and picking her over Morgan. Brady Bunch Sunshine Day didn't bother me for the first time last night. But iTunes did not agree. Everyone I liked is gone. I've never had this little interest in the remaining voice contestants this early in the show. Usually, this happens when the eliminations get down to the bottom two or three. Maybe if half the contestants weren't introduced as "wait, how old are you? How old? No! No!"
  22. The original version of Girls just want to have fun, by Robert Hazard, is nothing like cyndi Lauper's. It's slow, creepy and a bit dirgey.
  23. How many filming days of blind auditions are there in real life?
