  1. Agree so much with all the love for Norma's zingers! These episodes are filled with so many great scenes, conversations, exclamations, and very weird comments ( Oh, with Norman there is always something dead in the basement) GAH!!! I have to wait and read all the wonderful comments and dissecting opinions to truly understand what goes on in most episodes. The one thing that made me wonder about Emma's father is this thing about donating $20,000 to move Emma up the transplant list. Is he conning Dylan? I didn't think you could donate money to anywhere and get moved up a transplant list. If so, I need a kidney yesterday! I've been on that lousy list. Going back on it soon. Even though I don't have any money to donate, I wouldn't mind....no that's not true in my case. I'm more than willing to wait. But, as soon as Emma's father said that to Dylan, I thought for sure it was a con. I DVR'd a bunch of shows Sunday night and Monday night due to that kidney thing and now I am convinced. Bates Motel is my favorite. It was the one show I couldn't wait to get home and watch. Beat out Mad Men, Game of Thrones, and several others. I'm beginning to dread not only the ending of Bates Motel (thanks for the news about 2 more seasons!), but also all the people we know and love who will have a . Just in case.
  2. Yes, Dylan's reaction was pure gold. I have to watch this episode a couple more times just to see Norman be Norma. Stunning! I'm trying to type non-expletive reactions. My mind is blown. I wasn't sure about the first few minutes and I actually ff'd through some of the overtly sexy parts. Not because I'm a prude or anything, simply because they don't interest me. I also ff'd through whatever Norman did or didn't actually do to that bird. But, when this episode started picking up steam, like I said, it blew my mind! Oh, and I was crying like the crybaby I am when Norma and Caleb, well..... that was some powerful stuff. VF has got some great Emmy reel material. I would love to see her win. Right before the show came on, I told my friend who doesn't watch Bates Motel, that it was in the top five shows I watch. Tonight, I realized it was higher than that. Every week it gets better and better.
  3. I don't want it to sound like I find anything wrong with Van Der Beek or the other three actors,( don't know their names) it's just that some groups of actors work really well for a show and some don't. The original CSI had a perfect cast from the first episode. You could just feel it. When I think about it, that chemistry or lack of, along with good writing and directing is what makes a show a hit or miss. That does sound "duh". Maybe I'm not explaining well. I've just watched television for about, well, exactly 60 years ( oh god ) and I know when it works ( most of the time) and when it doesn't. That definitely doesn't mean I get it right even half the time - or there would be no Shondaland. Big,big laugh!
  4. Patricia Arquette should be hoping this show gets off the air as soon as possible. God, what a mess. She was the "special guest star" on an episode of SVU and she was fantastic. This was a couple years after her great run on Medium. I was hoping she would get another show. (I'm not counting her movie parts.) She is certainly not to blame for how badly CSI Cyber was cast, written or directed. She obviously is being told to act nothing but "CSI" stoic and it is not working. Peter MacNichol is a wonderful actor, but he is given nothing to do but yell out the obvious. Sorry, I just watched this show a couple of hours ago and I guess I'm still a bit perturbed. TPTB on CSI Cyber have wasted a good concept and a couple of great actors. It's a shame.
  5. More Root, please. She is the only reason I watch the show.
  6. Barbara Sukowa is 65 years old. I'm guessing they used very advanced facial CGI. Her face was totally believable as a young women. I was glued to this episode just for Jones. It also just happened to be a damn good episode all around. I want to thank people up top who have explained things that I didn't catch since the beginning of the show. The only thing that terrifies me is that Barbara Sukowa is credited as a Guest Star. I'm hoping that's a nod to her long career and not the possibility that she might not be in next season or leaving at some point. I do like all, or most, of the cast members and I find the story interesting. Unfortunately, I find that I am deeply interested in the Jones character and not sure I would hang in there if her character is written off the show. I've been giving up on a lot of shows lately. I watch too much TV. So, stick around Jones!
  7. Hmm. When John Oliver took over for Jon Stewart when Jon was making his movie, I still turned in every night because I was already a big John Oliver fan. When it was announced that Jon Stewart was stepping down from the show, I almost cried. Simply couldn't imagine late night TV, or maybe even a world, without my constant fix of Jon Stewart. I've already realized that I will no longer be watching The Daily Show once he's gone. The only thing that might have kept me watching is if they had gone for known hilarious and smart women like Amy Poehler or Amy Schumer. For some reason it feels like The Daily Show would be a step down for Poehler, but possibly a good fit for Schumer. Also, there could have been other women who could have done the job. The more I think about, though, I do think my attraction to the show was the personality of Jon Stewart and his particular group of writers. I don't know who this Trevor guy is, so just this bit of controversy is enough for me to think I won't even watch his first episode - if he keeps this gig. I'm already saying good-bye to The Daily Show with Jon Stewart while I watch these last few episodes ever so slowly/quickly passing until the end. edited because I couldn't keep my John's and Jon's straight...
  8. It's so very interesting that people of faith tend to find miracles or "signs" in just about anything. Athelstan, whose name I've butchered since the beginning (I've been calling him Applestand), was so in need of a sign to help him find the right god(gods) that he finally got what he wanted. eh The first time (?) in his life catches a beautiful sun beam through a hole in the wall, nearly blinds himself, and "whoop, there it is!" He is born again. Now, if Floki really did see blood coming from the boat head ( don't know what you call those, obviously not head, heh), that would be something all together different. I suppose he was on mushrooms or something, right? Maybe he was just hallucinating because he's never been totally all there. It was all good to me, though. I have to admit I did not watch the Judith scene. I was positive the show was going to let us see all the blood and gore. Turned back to it when Ecbert was telling his son that the child was a son of god. See, you can make anything work on our great wheel of world religions. heh I completely understand why Porunn doesn't want to bed her husband. She was accustomed to feeling strong and pretty. She's a mess now, psychologically. She loves Bjorn and understands he has needs. It might hurt her more, but she doesn't want Bjorn to miss out on anything because of her. He told her to stay home because she was pregnant. She chose not to and now they are where they are. I hope she gets better soon. Yes, the true love story in Vikings did seem seem to be Ragnar and Athelstand. Love in the way that you are completely at ease with someone who is telling you all these great things about the world and you can trust implicitly. That is very rare and I think Ragnar is well aware of this. I can't imagine what he is going to be like now. When the hour is up on Vikings, I start grumbling. I want more.
  9. I got a good gut laugh with that one! All of the Dylan stuff bores me. I assume they do need that secondary plot going because too much of Norma and Norman might fry one's brain. VF and FH are simply amazing in this show. Totally love it when you don't need dialogue.
  10. The sad thing is, you could see PA and PM straining (stifling?) their acting abilities within the first couple minutes of being on screen. We all know that both of these actors are extremely good. The writing is at grade school level. Very sad. I don't know if this was just a lousy set-up script or if this is going to be level of dumb which they choose to stick with every week.
  11. Carol made this episode for me. I see that many of you caught our new Carol at first charade. heh For a second, I thought, why is she acting like that weapon is so heavy...why is she grinning ( although I LOVED her smiles )? Everyone else seemed to simply play their cards close to their vest during their interviews. From the very first, Carol acted like she might have actually had to act around her abusive husband. Then I realized she wants to keep her skills private. But..wait...haven't they been following them for some time now? Someone must have seen Carol in action. Or at the very least not all sweet and smiley. Again, I like her this way. For awhile. Then I wan't BAM_ Carol back. LIke said up thread, Deanne (sp) is probably on to Carol. It's a testament to the show that even in this benign appearing community, we are on the constant look-out for one little tell - in keeping with Deanne's almost career. I had thought that our group might turn out to be the "others" or the "them" here. Maybe that's what Rick meant at the very end. Eh, they don't work out...this place is ours. Works for me. Where the hell has my humanity gone?
  12. It appears the ratings are now as bad as the writing. Personally, I think people who at one time were watching R&I watched the last Agent Carter. I thought that the low ratings last week were caused by shows starting up that people don't know about yet. Not for R&I. Looks like they lost a million viewers from last week. And last week was down a couple million from the usual since the series began. Forgive me. I have momentarily forgotten how to put in a link to the ratings site. Not a good day for me. It was called TV by the numbers- don't know if it still is. It will be very interesting to see if they can get back some viewers. Maybe the show has run it's course along with more competition. There are just so many new shows on and it's getting really hard to hang on to the shows I've been watching. I think I might be getting tired of television. NOOO! I'm just getting tired of bad television.
  13. There has been a lot of bad writing on this show, but I think this episode takes the prize....so far. I've always stuck up for Angela because I've always liked Lorraine Bracco. I didn't find her anywhere near as annoying as most people. Well, that all changed with this episode. Hopefully, LB is making a good sum of money for this part because they are writing her into the ground. Having her walking around literally verbally attacking strangers with her "You don't know me from blank, but let me fix your life. Gah! Nothing, absolutely nothing, in this episode made sense. The writers aren't even trying. I didn't comment on last week's ep because I just didn't make it here in time. I won't say all the things I wanted to about it ( not the right ep-talk) just suffice it to say that I enjoyed that one quite a bit. I didn't notice who wrote Foot Loose. If they put much more of that stuff up every week, I might actually stop watching. All my friends have already.
  14. I'm late to the party, but I have to say I LOVED the finale. Ryan Murphy must be totally twisting my mind, because I loved the opening scene of Dandy walking around killing the family. I knew that since this was so early in the last hour of the series that all of them would have something better coming in the end. It didn't bother me at all that the gun had a zillion bullets. I don't watch AHS for any hint of reality. I go in with my brain on full suspension of disbelief. I fell completely for the rise and fall of Elsa Mars on Friday nights. As others have mentioned, I could actually believe she got some kind of strange Ed Sullivan type show. When she was told her past semi-snuff film had surfaced and the fact that she owned and operated a Freak Show, I knew it was just the device used to end that story. Fine with me. Dandy looks mighty good in tightie whities. Count me in as a big fan of Mordrake. Why? He's cute and spooky. There are more things I was thinking about concerning some of the other characters, but I will end on Elsa Mars. I thought Elsa Mars was a great name. Elsa knew she had no right to a heavenly type ending, but she got one anyway. There's hope for me! Tears were welling up in my eyes when she got back to the family. And I look at it this way. Maybe everyone that is in Elsa's afterlife are somewhere else in their own perfect afterlife. There are probably many copies of all of us. So, for AHS Freak Show. I loved the first episode and the last episode. This was not a good season in my opinion. I can throw in the Mordrake eps ( along with our favorite Twisty ) and the back story episode on Pepper. I guess that's why I was so verklempt during the finale. I did not expect to like it. Wonder where we go next? I'm not really asking that, I'm just wondering. heh
  15. Maybe they were holding out for a Series 3, but I felt cheated by the ending. I kept telling my friend that watching this show was like watching paint dry. Funny thing is, she was painting the kitchen when I told her this. I wasn't as crazy about GA's accent as some people and I found myself actually laughing a few times. I still think she did a very good job for the type of person she was portraying. I have to admit, I enjoyed the Jamie Dornan scenes. He is very easy on the eyes and I could also see him as a stone cold pyscho-sociopathic killer. We have so many serial killer stories and I know each writer wants to bring some new reason why someone can get twisted into this type of existence. At some point, I love it when someone states the obvious. I think that's what Stella Gibson was trying to do from the time she saw the pattern. Some serial killers like to think they have stumbled on to some profound reason for brutally taking the lives of living creatures. The backgrounds of every serial killer might be similar...or not. The one thing they have in common is an addiction to the power of total control. Control over life and death. It hits their pleasure sensors like a drug, booze, or a delicious buffet that usually gets the rest of us. I didn't feel a need to know why Spector was a serial killer, but I did want to see a resolution to the chase. It was a long, what, 12 hours?, slog and to have end that way. nah
  16. Wow. I was staying completely unspoiled because I don't know when LTiH is airing in the U.S.. This was a spoiler on another site that I just couldn't pass up. I knew what it was going to be without reading one word. I can't begin to tell you how much I loved this show. Never in a million years did I think they would go the " let's kill off the gay character so we can get some juicy angst ridden parts for everybody else". Chicago Fire did this and as soon as I knew who the character was who was being "sacrificed", I didn't watch five more minutes. I had watched CF from the beginning and didn't even find that character all that interesting. At some point in your TV watching life, you have to say enough is enough. I can accept the loss on POI because of outside circumstances. I'll keep watching that show for Root. The only thing I can think of that could save this show for me now, (that's if the death is real as it appears to be) is if they somehow give Caroline a new girlfriend. It can be in the future, obviously, you need time to grieve a hell of a lot. But....someone better start dropping hints that gay love is still the future for Caroline. Gads, if they have her be BabyMama.... I am so outta here. Guess I'm going to have to start reading what are spoiler recaps for me and see if this show is going to be worth watching when it does hit the States. P. S. If they had done this as more of a season finale and allowed a time jump to the next season, it might have been easier to understand. What were they...one episode in? Marriage..boom..death. That really is getting to be a very old, tired storyline. Straight or gay.
  17. I think my mind went right to Richard Speck and that might be why a scene that they didn't graphically show upset me more than I thought it would. Speck killed eight nurses...I'm not looking this up...it was close to eight, if not eight, by threatening to kill one of the others until they were all dead. I think he used a knife. One of them ( all nursing students in a dorm type room) hid under a bed and was saved and they caught him right away. I remember seeing it on the front page of the Chicago papers in the morning before I went to school. I realized then that the world was a very different place than I had thought.
  18. According to a little blurb I unfortunately ran across in Entertainment Weekly, this might be a strong possibility. This person might have been kidding, but it didn't appear that way. Doesn't matter to me other than the fact that if this is the "surprise" guest star, I would have hoped for someone else. Maybe MJM was there to throw us off. Haven't liked an episode since ep 3. Ryan Murphy is losing me this season. I thought I didn't care all that much for Coven. Totally going to revisit that one. Dandy was fine is small doses, but between him and, oh the guy with large whatever, they are really taking me out of the story. I also blame the writing. Maybe it's because I lost 3 of my four pets in a matter of weeks and I'm just not in the mood. ha I don't know. Maybe I'm a bit sexist when it comes to this show and, to me, the focus should be on an Elsa that makes a bit more sense and ( since supposedly she suggested this part) having her on screen more each episode. I love Evan Peters. He simply has to have a better part if he is going to continue on this show. I'm getting a feeling that RM might change the cast quite a bit for next season. That worries me. That's why I said I think he might lose me as an AHS fan. If he continues to out gross himself and the viewers, (tupperware party slaughter) without having a well written and acted story as in ASYLUM, I've got to re-think my reasons for watching this show. Now, if he brings back Lily Rabe and she has a good and substantive time-wise part, and the other women I've mentioned before, then I will come back like a lost puppy.
  19. Great subject! All I know is that I have to have Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, FRANCES CONROY, Kathy Bates and maybe a new older female actor to replace Jessica Lange ( sacrilege! I'm assuming she really isn't coming back) in the story for me to be happy. Oh, and maybe Chloe Sevigny. Evan Peters is always welcome. I would simply like to see him play an emotion other than rage. He's such a good actor. Male wise, I would love to have James Cromwell back along with Quinto, Huston, Joe Fiennes and the new favorite for some, Finn Wittrock. I'm obviously more into the actors than what the storyline happens to be. Hmmm. Asylum really spoiled me. In my personal opinion, the show has to be led by the women. Who could ever top Sistah Juude? What does Ryan Murhpy want to depict? Each season he appears to put more and more gay male scenes in ( which I happened to be quite fond of ;) ), but is he wanting to go more along those story lines when it is no longer a star vehicle for Jessica Lange? Only he knows. I like all the ideas discussed above. Although I can't really think of a story, I do know that RM has already gone so deep into physical and psychological horror that wherever he takes us is going to be very strange..at the very least. Oh, and whatever he does, I agree with a lot of people that want it to take place in the "70's". That was a crazy decade. Horror at the Disco of Death!
  20. Well, what did everyone think about the report on the end of the world as we know it? To me, it makes just about everything else pale in comparison. I am truly liking Newsroom this terribly shortened finale season. It's like they finally hit their stride and it's too late. Kinda like the planet. I tend to agree with the Earth's prognosis told to us by more and more climate scientist as the days fly by. The only thing I am not completely sold on is the time frame. I'm hoping against hope that there is more time. Some, or at least one, has been publicly stating we have only a few decades left. Very few. I think it's best to just think of it as far, far into the future and live every day to the fullest. Just to add...that tons of CO2 from the last 20 to 40 years haven't even been counted yet. Too many tipping points have already been set in motion. Something VERY BAD is going to happen, the only question is when and how bad. And I think most climate and other scientist already have a pretty good idea. But who wants to be that much of a bummer except for Guy McPherson. He has already mourned the Earth. Back to the more shallow part of the show. I've missed Aaron Sorkin's writing. Maybe I'm just getting too old and I didn't watch Sport's Night (?) but I did love the West Wing when he wrote those first couple of years or so. I don't mind all the craziness of the characters. I am entertained and, here I go again, I was waiting to hear that climate report somewhere on TV for a long time. I'm going to keep this episode on my DVR for awhile and replay that interview from time to time. At least they are bringing in some great guest stars for the ending.
  21. They spoiled me with the first two episodes. This one just kinda went "thud". No goosebumps on JL's Gods and Monsters. I know the words are what they were probably going for, but the song didn't have that haunting musical tune thing going. There were a lot of store bought costumes in the fifties. Although it is true that a lot of people made their own costumes and put a heck of a lot of creativity into them, I remember seeing racks of them in the stores. I was either a Jaguar or the devil. I was too lazy to throw anything together until I hit 11 or 12 : then I was a bum. That one was very popular. Mordrake was very interesting. Why hasn't that actor ( who I do remember from American Beauty ) been in more shows? He has such a fascinating face. So, I liked Mordrake, didn't and never will like Ms. Roberts, didn't get to into Twisty this episode, more and more confused on KB's accent and missed the hell out of Jessica Lange. Either she is saving herself for the last few episodes or she is really needing to stay quite a bit in the background this season. I'm guessing that she is tired. Hopefully, I am totally wrong. Maybe it's just me being tired. heh
  22. All I need is a shot of Jessica Lange leaning on a tent pole in that fabulous David Bowie suit and I'm happy. I'm fine with having them spend time with other characters as long as the camera catches her and all her great reaction shots. Also, not that this is necessarily true, I imagine that JL is getting a bit tired of all this by now. It was her idea to do one last thing and she wanted it to be something "Marlene Dietrich" related. At least I think I read that somewhere. With her being the owner of this outfit, I don't think that gives her any time to not be in an episode. We will see. Once again, blown away by Sarah Paulson and "Criminal" Think they will put out a soundtrack? Other than the serial killer aspect, Twisty is a joy to watch. Keep that thing on your face, though, Ok Twisty? Dandy scares me so much more than Twisty. He's too possible-too real. There could be hundreds (more?) of psychopaths like him out there right now, in America alone. Sorry for Meeps, but I was getting sick of trying to avert my eyes when he did his thing. Sadly, I am still having a bit of trouble with Kathy Bates accent. It might be because we are only getting to hear a few sentences here and there. It reminds me of an accent she did before in some movie. Did she have an accent in Misery? Oh well. I'm still crazy about her. I must really be loving this season because I want to say something about every character....but I won't.
