  1. St. Elsewhere=YES ER=YES Chicago Hope=yeah House (different kind of hospital, but YES) Grey's Anatomy and anything thing after that- NO Unfortunately for me, I watched this from a hospital bed. Even though I knew that I was altered a bit, this show bugged the hell out of me. It might have been my condition, but I was actually quietly yelling at the TV about how much I thought this show sucked. Seriously, I found it unbelievably bad. I want to point out that, once again, it isn't the actors- it's the writing and directing. I was even laying odds in my mind of how long it would last until a merciful cancellation. BUT, I was feeling poorly and I had felt that the awful previews that had been running for this show had me going in expecting it to not be that great. I just didn't expect what I saw. Having sad all that nasty stuff, I will tune in again to see if the show gets better for me. I'm glad other people liked Code Black because it's always good for someone to find a new show to watch. I can't keep up with shows I like anymore.
  2. Yes, I see a lot of mentions about the Shonda Rhimes influence. She is literally ruining TV for me. I can't really say much about this pilot other than I lasted about 10 minutes and hit the delete button. It's sad. This sounded like a great premise for a show. Think "Homeland". Even when that show made some odd decisions with it's characters, it was still very well executed and interesting. thank god for cable tv on edit Hey gibasi. We were thinking about Homeland at the same time.
  3. Goodbye, CSI Too bad you had to have such a lousy finale. The best part of the whole two hours was Gil's "jump the shark" comment. I'm sure William Petersen put that line in himself. He was very upset when they decided to spin off other CSI shows. He thought it would dilute the uniqueness of the original and I think he was correct. I was a loyal CSI follower and except for this horrible two hour mess, I would prefer any original CSI show to anything made by Shonda Rhimes. I guess I simply like a different kind of "formula" than a lot of people. I didn't mind the "you can expect this at this time in the hour" aspect of the show. I enjoyed all the actors, well, at least most of them until they started changing near the end. I remember being upset when Sara and Nick left for awhile due to contract disputes. It was a show I looked forward to when it was in it's original time slot. When it moved to Sunday nights with football knocking out some episodes, I knew it was doomed. But, 15 years, or whatever they had, was a darn good run. It was time to go. Oh, and I noticed all the puffiness, too. Then I looked at a mirror. ehh
  4. I know it's only me seeing things that aren't there, but a few episodes ago I felt they were slowly getting rid of Dr. Scott. Then, when she said she was pardoned and was being sent to different places to work on more cure (?), I thought, ok, that's how they're going to do it. Chandler had also been given desk duty by that promotion ( did I get that right?), so with her gone, TPTB might think he knows more about what she was doing than anyone else and he sends him to all these places. Or, it could be revenge. Or both. They have to get the big guy back on the Nathan James. And, sadly I agree with many posters who have said Dr. Scott's story line might be used up as far as the writers are concerned. Hopefully, I am totally wrong and we are going to have another person miraculously healed from a severe bullet wound. Uh, the only reason I can think of for them to have Dr. Scott shot dead, is then they wouldn't have people wondering if she would show up later from her travels. It doesn't really matter to me as far this story goes. It just seems kind of cruel to kill off the woman who found the cure, then found a contagious cure for the sick and, well, basically save most of humanity. But, eh. The military and their fuzzy morals.
  5. I've been picking apart shows like a Thanksgiving turkey lately, but for some reason I always give R&I a pass. I noticed at the beginning of the episode that it was written by a man. Many of their shows could have been written by a man, I just didn't pay attention before. It made me wonder how he would write the Jane and Maura dynamic. I was a bit grumpy about the fact that Jane and Maura were in very few scenes together. Then something new happened for me. I actually got a bit of interest in the plot. By the end of the episode, it was obvious why they didn't have that much time together. We were supposed to concentrate more on Jane and actually feel the fact that Maura was hanging out around the edges. Almost like, we're going to forget about you for awhile Maura. So, at the very end, everyone is at her apartment all happy they are still safe and they don't even notice that Maura isn't there. They were set up for this and so were we. I thought it worked, even though I realized what they were doing. I'm with most people about not caring for constant cliff-hangers. Don't think I could have handled a Jane jumps off bridge, Jane shot through the stomach( missing all vital organs), Jane being pushed in front of a train. No, let someone else be the cliff-hanger. What I thought was at least attention grabbing about this one, is that they have given us a pretty good villain so far. He/she is very smart and is deep in the background, or so we think. I bet we've seen him/her. The psych guy stands out only because he appears to be the big hire of the week. They took a few episodes to build up the fact that this villain has taken over Jane's whole life as far as personal information goes. That includes her phone. The villain must have "spoofed" (spoof) the BPD phone to make Maura not even question the call to a fictional dead body. This was just more interesting to me than most of R&I's cliff=hangers. Remember in Season 1 when Jane shot through...oops that could be a spoiler if someone hasn't seen the show from the beginning. Anyway, that one was very good. I realized after I posted that I didn't mention that the work stations probably have stools or there is somewhere else they do sit down and work. I've had jobs where I did have to stand 99 percent of the shift and it's not too bad if you keep moving around. I think that's what they are doing with Nina. We just see her when she's doing the research work from that terminal. I'm guessing she also has desk work. Hell, I don't know. Haha It's just something I noticed like you did.
  6. Angie Harmon has been doing a great job as Rizzoli. I was not a fan of hers before R&I. Some actors like to try and "mug" or make extreme faces and it looks ridiculous. Angie can do every emotion and it's all very convincing. She can be funny then turn on a dime and be shattered. You could watch her slowly fall completely apart through out this episode. She was shaking all over when she was hugging her mother. Very good acting. Knowing this show is about Jane and Maura, I knew one of them would be the cliff-hanger. I thought they did a good job of building up the suspense in this one. I'm definitely hanging off that cliff for next season! I think the standing thing that Nina is doing is the latest office ergonomics technique. They have proven that sitting at a desk all day is really bad for your health. I've read that a lot of work places are making standing work stations to help fight this. They also do this on CSI Cyber. OR, R&I could just be doing this because they have the fancy big computer screens in that room. Probably a bit of both. Just guessing.
  7. Point taken. I do think she was way out of her "Lily Rabe" zone here. Right off the bat she is written as homewrecker. That would have been fine except for the fact that this made her character unlikable from the very beginning. I'm just guessing, but I don't know how any actor could have played that part and been interesting. I do admit, though, that I need to see her in another dramatic role. I am a huge fan from AHS. I hope she gets another shot. Oh, just to throw this weird thing in here. Her mother, Jill Clayburgh, also had pretty, but strange eyes. I always thought she was looking past everyone. I think I read that Lily will be back on AHS Hotel this fall. Unfortunately for me, I think it's only two episodes. I hung in there on Whispers just for her. It was painful. My new rant will be on "Zoo". I don't care about anyone on that show and yet I'm still torturing myself by watching it. HA!
  8. One of the many sad things about this awful show is that Lily Rabe appears to have taken a hit on her acting ability and likability. She is much better than this absolute piece of crap. Yes, I am angry at myself for watching this horribly written and acted show. Just because you see Steven Spielberg's name on something doesn't mean you should not give it a real long look before you sign on to a project. I can't see any other way Lily Rabe, or any of the other actors, could possibly do anything with this material. Oh, Minx did have a pretty good acting scene when they were going to fry her or whatever. Then she had to say "I'm ready to see my mother now". OKAY. She was good before that, though. Hmmm, that's the only positive thing I have to say about Whispers. Please be gone.
  9. They could make this the Doc Yewll show and I would be happy as hell. Everyone else is fading into the background for me. I will say that I have enjoyed this season the most. In my opinion, the sad "killing off" of Alak's in laws did help the show tighten up a bit. I haven't been totally crazy about all the personality changes -from Irisa, Nolan, and tonight's Amanda finally breaking down. But, somehow, they all seemed to work. They got them over rather quickly and let us go to some crazy places. For what Defiance is, the writing is rather good. And "oh mah god" the lines they give Dr. Yewll. I hope Defiance is renewed with a good size role for the lovable Doc. If they, for some insane reason, decide to trim her out of the story....nah.
  10. Poor Wendy Crewson! Why couldn't she have had a 3 or four episode arc? I was really pissed at Nolan shooting, ahh, what was she called..High Commander of the Voltan Collective. I never remember the names of alien species or their alien names. I did want to say that I think this season has been very good. Last season I forced myself to watch the episodes. I'm really enjoying the Omec. That's easy to remember, heh. All I can tell you about his name is that it starts with a T. I do agree with the few that have pointed out that the show works better without having to worry about another group of aliens wiping out what little is left of earth or her creatures. Also, I never dreamed I would care for Datak. Just never liked the guy. He's won me over and I do love seeing that he and Stahma truly love each other. Then again, I also find Stahma hot with Omec. The show should get it's stuff together and give us either more Dr. Yewel ( did I get that right? ) or give her a spin-off. She's the absolute funniest alien on TV. Even when she is having to do something evil she can spout the words "Oh, the humanity." and I laughed. At first I thought she was trying to find a way to get the thing out of her neck and that's what she was doing at the work table. Then I realized she was hacking into the pod that Kindzi(?) was in taking her out of stasis. I foolishly thought she was going to make Kindzi take that dang thing out of her neck. Nope. Dr. Yewel is still a slave to the mind programming and literally meant "goodbye human race" once the constantly hungry and bitchy brat was set loose. I was extremely unhappy with Nolan's storyline and friggin pissed when he killed Wendy Crewson. If it wasn't for Irisa, I wouldn't mind if they replaced him. Having said that, I did like the way they had Nolan's past talking to him as the Butcher of where ever that was. I thought Amanda was fibbing when she said Nolan's hallucinations were because of "arc tech". If that did make him totally banana cakes and maybe we find out in the future all was not well with these particular VC...ahh. Hell no. He killed Wendy Crewson!
  11. For at least a dozen or more of those last 16+ years, I've been addicted to that Mon-Thurs 11PM little oasis on TV of pure joy and many, many hurtin' gut laughs. I've had, like just about every one else in the world, had a ton of bad days during that time. The past few years have been a nightmare health-wise and it was a little too close there to see who would leave first. BUT, at 11PM, regardless of what had happened that day, I would start getting this happy feeling just knowing I was about to watch JON STEWART eviscerate the totally soul sucking 24 news cycle on both CNN and FoxNews. It gave me literal pure joy. I wasn't a complete fan of the whole show. Usually, I would zip through the interviews when they had people on I didn't like. Also, not all of the correspondent stuff hit the mark. I think it was meant to be that way. Oh well, it's all gone now. And like a jealous lover who knows someone else is going to be doing something like what my "JON STEWART" isn't going to be doing anymore, I don't think I am going to give Trevor Noah a chance. It would simply hurt too much. And, as for JON, I wouldn't mind knowing that he did go off and live with his family on a farm in New Jersey. At this present time, I can't imagine what I would like to see him do career wise. Yeah, that farm life sounds good, especially if you have a hell of a lot of money in the bank. BTW, I started crying the minute the show started and didn't stop. At times it was just the sniffles, or when I had to separate fighting cats or get a couple off my chest ( really..off my chest-I couldn't breath, too many cats in this darn house). I'm not joking, if it wasn't for these feline balls of terror, I would have non-stop snot cried. I can't believe that little oasis is gone. I don't remember ever being quite this upset at losing a TV show. Maybe because this was so much more than a TV show. I loved you "Knots Landing", but you were just a well made nighttime soap. Guh..I'm babbling...plus night meds kicked in about 30 minutes ago. Lots of us are going to have a hard time come Monday night.
  12. It may have been paint by the numbers, but I absolutely loved this show. Last night I realized that Comcast and their DVR system were cutting off the very end of almost every episode of this season. I thought I had only been missing a few seconds, so I didn't bother to watch it on ON Demand. Since last night's ep is probably the last ep, I did go to ON DEMAND and waited around for the ending. I missed Boz coming on the plane, Tom NOT showing up and the whole Joe becomes a rich anti-virus guy. Wouldn't that have been a bummer to think the show just ended with a side shot of Cameron sitting in her airline seat? I really can't see how they can renew HACF. The ratings suck. Ugly, but to the point. ::sniff:: I'll miss it.
  13. Sounds good and thanks! I don't remember much about the scene. It doesn't bother me if they try to continue this oddness. I only hope that I remember more details from week to week. Yeah, good luck to me. I've seen people mention Rubicon a few times. Just want to throw in my love for that show. Definitely not happy when it was canceled so quickly.
  14. Not that I haven't missed many things, but the one big one that's bugging me is the reappearance of Coney Island meeting place. Didn't they show Elliot trying to show somebody this place to turn in Mr. Robot last week? It was completely empty and appeared unused for a long time. Did that really happen? Not feeling well and, geez, was it hard not to believe you were watching someone's hallucinations. Sorry, I haven't got my minimal writing capabilities tonight. Fireworks going off just a few feet from my window. This week was quite a bit slower than the pilot. I'm going to hang in there, though. It might stay a show I watch several days after I DVR it.
  15. Ah, does anybody know the name of the song they played at the very end? For me, it was the best part of the "let's get the hell out of Baltimore" story fail. Maybe I was just too tired while watching, but I ff'd through at least 60 percent of the show. I just watched it early Wednesday morning. I couldn't get past the burning people for fuel and all those darn lights lit up for miles and miles when they were on the roof. It seriously felt like they were just wanting to get this situation over and done. I'm very happy for the people who liked it, though. I will be tuning in next week to see where they are going. Maybe two more episodes to see if I want to stick with this one.
  16. I should not have made it sound like it was anything more than an awful coincidence. It's probably more true that people who spent this much time staring at or working on turned on computers would suffer back and neck problems and some irritating eye strain that caused headaches. I was just very curious to what illness they are giving to Gordon in the story and why they might have picked that particular one. Again, I don't want him to die. I like him so much more this season than last.
  17. My roommate was in on the beginnings of putting computers together and could have made a great career from this very early computer wizardry. She chose to be a math teacher instead. Anyway, she has had two, possibly three friends from this period die of brain tumors. The people who were in front (actually she just told me it was the back of the monitors) of these early monitors, and possibly other materials, for days and weeks at a time...even years, did seem to pay a very high price. I'm not sure anyone could prove that it was the computers, but her friends all think it seemed to more than coincidence. When I saw Gordon's nosebleed a couple weeks ago, I immediately went to brain tumor. I also had a friend who had a brain tumor, fortunately it was benign, but one of her symptoms was falling down. That and the unbelievable headaches. I really like Gordon's character and I hope he doesn't die from whatever he ends up having. I also love Cameron. She's written to be a selfish arsehole most of time and that's fine with me. Since I'm not up on all the computer history, I take this show as total fiction and it doesn't bother me that they might be recreating a whole different scenario that what actually happened. Cameron and Donna and the actors who portray them are doing a great job this season. I do see how long time gamers would have a problem with a lot of what they are showing about how this particular gaming activity started. I'm 100 percent NOT a gamer. So this show suits me just find in the lousy facts department. I am a bit surprised that they have put Lee Pace kind of on the back-burner. That will probably change during the season. This is one my favorite shows right now. It might be my favorite....oh, I always say that.
  18. Wasn't that beautiful? Gave me goose bumps. Didn't really care for the show, though. I don't know why I watch Defiance. Oh, probably Jaime Murray. It was surprising to see how many people they killed off. I just assumed they were house cleaning to go a new direction. The Omec were interesting and I'm a sucker for spaceship stuff, so, I will probably continue to tune in.
  19. Just finished watching and I am hooked. I can overlook a lot of things if the show gives me a "mood" that engages me and keeps me engaged. It only slipped a little for me when Christian Slater started talking. I have the same feelings about him as an actor as a few others that have commented here. It's possible that I might be one of those people that happens to like voice overs ( like on Dexter ), because it helps me relate to a character right away instead of having to hear stilted exposition from conversations. They will be able to get away with quite a bit of right or wrong tech speak with me. At least they are selling it better than CSI Cyber. Definitely looking forward to this one.
  20. The child actors are good. My only complaint is that is rather clunky in the writing department. That, hopefully, will improve. If it doesn't, I will still watch for Lily Rabe. I will watch anything with Lily Rabe. Also, another minor quibble, I don't think they gave her a very good supporting cast. This show could have been really creepy, spooky....oh, just something it isn't as of yet. Fingers crossed.
  21. Oh, I will definitely be following Samantha Bee! She is so ridiculously funny and would have been a great Daily Show host, even if it was temporary or possibly on a rotating basis. Yeah, that would have been cool. Pick about four different types of hosts and give them a few months a piece. Ok, now I'm just talking out of my...this horrible early summer killer cold I have. I can't even hear my ears are so plugged up. Hello??? Again, I wish Trevor Noah all the success possible from the Daily Show. Look, I'm kinda old and my opinion on these wonderful, bright, and sooo very young people, doesn't matter much anyway. It's all good.
  22. Once again, it would have been the best time for a female host. Although I knew that probably was not going to happen, I held out hope that they had quite a few male hosts that could be as witty as Jon Stewart without having to be a clone of Jon Stewart. Then I thought, well, let me think outside the box. The box got too big. I won't be watching the first episode with Trevor Noah. I felt this way before I heard about his tweets. This doesn't mean I hope he isn't successful. It just means that I have no interest in him at all. I've seen him and I think he's OK at what he does. Ahhh, Jon...you just left too big a shoe to fill. I will admit, though, that if The Daily Show had had Trevor Noah guest quite a bit like they did with John Oliver, viewers like myself might have at least felt he fit in the slot better. I'm going to miss my 11PM-Mon-Thurs, (let's face it) Jon Stewart fix. It truly is a minor life changing event.
  23. Lovely DVR shenanigans! I usually watch The Returned right after Bates Motel and I do remember thinking that I would have at least missed a few seconds of Bates if I had not done that. Well, tonight I watched an HBO documentary and had to DVR The Returned at 2am. So...when I watched the earlier recorded Bates Motel, the stupid twits cut off just as Norman is chasing the dog. I knew I missed something important. When I watch TR in an hour or so, I will see that scene. Looks like somebody came back. Not something mind blowing, but this is my favorite show. No more of this cutting the show into TR so people will watch that show. grrr The shoot out scene was pretty good even if a lot of it was telegraphed. Hmm, suppose they would have to show Caleb putting that gun in such an odd place. He must have known he might have to get down on his knees right at that spot. Ahh, I kid the writers. Gun running is boring anyway. Glad they both made it out (hopefully) unharmed. I was all smiles when Dylan was talking to Emma on the cell phone while gun running. You know how when you have a crush on someone who might have a crush on you and your talking on the phone and you can't get this silly a-- grin off your face. Young love. You can't beat it. It was also very much there between Romero and Norma when he brought her other love ( hey, we've all been in love with at least one car in our lives, amirite? ) back to her. Too bad that lasted all of five seconds. It's true. Norma might cause most of her own problems ( understatement ), but dang, it really seems like she can't catch a break. How do you tell "the law" that you told some idiot that your son killed his father? She had held that in for soooooo long. Trying to remember..did she tell Dylan? The sad thing is, that this is how life truly is for most people. I mean the misunderstandings, the miscommunications.. two people just being that little bit out of synch with the intensity of their feelings - and I'm not even talking anything Norma/Norman here. This show just hits all the facets of human interaction. That HBO documentary was depressing as hell. Than I watched Bates Motel. My mind feels like it's squishing around in my head.
  24. Your welcome Valny. I stumbled on the info while reading Google news. ;-)
