  1. My local news just did a piece about a vulture that was brought in to a rescue facility "after being hit by a car with a broken wing and lead poisoning."
  2. I didn’t get Garth Brooks, either, but I know almost nothing about country music. Except that Dolly Parton is a national treasure.
  3. I almost said Statue of Liberty for FJ, but corrected myself in time. Whew! I also got the TS of chaste, decoupage, Vancouver, midwife, and Bridget Jones.
  4. Instaget FJ for me tonight. The only TS I got were fruit and hemoglobin. I liked Fred's red shirt and matching pocket square. Me, too.
  5. I'm somewhat okay with spiders unless they surprise me. A spoiler box will work -- just tell me it's a spider before I click on it. 🙂
  6. But if you stand it up like that, how can you use the lines on it as guides to cut it?
  7. It seems like you're having an adverse reaction to the eye drops. Your eyes should feel better after the drops, not worse!
  8. I found out today that apparently a transformer blew, and four big areas in town were out, with some overlap (my house was in an overlap area). A few years ago, they put in three roundabouts on the street where I work. The day they opened the one I can see from my window was crazy. We watched most of the day, while people tried to go around it the wrong way, or stopped in the middle, or (as they continue to do) treat it like a four-way stop, and stop whether or not any other cars are in sight. It drives me nuts when people stop at an empty roundabout! I mean, sure, if there's a car right there (or a pedestrian), by all means, stop! But if all roads are devoid of cars, keep going! Corollary peeve -- people who don't stop their cars for pedestrians in the crosswalks.
  9. AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! Please warn me before you post giant photos of spiders! Ahem. The seek app tells me it's a grass spider: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agelenopsis
  10. From what you have said, he was not at all a friend.
  11. Woo hoo! The power just came back on -- just as it was starting to get quite chilly in my house. And now I have to go reset clocks. Didn't I just do that?
  12. And my power just went out. The electric company's website says the expected restoration time is 5:30 pm. Incidentally, the outage area includes the public library, so I won't get to go today, either! No idea why it went out, either -- the sky is clear and there isn't much wind. But it is cold, and my heat pump requires electricity to keep me warm. Fingers crossed it won't really take them all damn day to fix the problem!
  13. Way back when I had dogs, I had a flea infestation -- it was almost worse for me than the dogs. Fleas and mosquitoes love me! I used Adams spray (they make one for cats, too), and it was very effective. https://www.adamspetcare.com
  14. Peeving at myself for forgetting that the public library would be closed today.
  15. No poppies around here today. It must be Memorial Day that they hand out poppies here.
  16. Yeah, I don't think I'd use those drops again.
  17. Instaget FJ for me, too, although I was worried when I saw the category. Only two TS, though -- submarine, and McMurphy.
  18. It's funny how just reading the words, "Edmund Fitzgerald" puts that song in my head. Where it will not leave. Ever.
  19. I said Steinbeck for FJ, because I know how much this show loves Steinbeck, even though I knew it was not correct. Probably should have paid more attention to the date. The only TS I got were Southern Christian Leadership Conference, GHWB, and sum. I'm kind of amazed I got a math question right! Here's hoping for a better game tomorrow to end the week!
  20. The local VFW (I think) used to hand paper poppies out in front of the grocery stores here. I'll pay attention when I go to the store on Saturday and report back.
  21. When I'm tired, I often struggle with right vs left and east vs west, so I completely understand why Morgan or Lena (can't remember which is which!) immediately turned the wrong direction. I don't know if it's really a thing, but I call it fatigue-induced dyslexia. I actually started wearing a watch again to help me know which was my left. That said, if someone is giving me directions, they either need to point, or, if they're in the back seat, maybe tap me on the correct shoulder.
  22. I did get that the phrase was a Star Trek reference, but I couldn't think of any explorers named Roddenberry.
