  1. I bought cucumbers last week, and the checker asked if they were zucchini.
  2. I love that movie. Alan was excellent in it. Also, Galaxy Quest.
  3. Oh yeah, Uncle Vernon totally would have spent all the money on ickle Duddikins. But the kid who played Dudley was really good.
  4. I always call it FRAUNCH bread, and FRAUNCH fries, and to drink, Peru! Maybe not an unpopular opinion, but I love that movie.
  5. That's where I learned about it.
  6. Spoke led me to the correct response for FJ, too. I also got the TS of totality, exit, panel/penal, caller/cellar, and Rope/repo. I am glad the end guy didn't win.
  7. I can't defend Petunia. If she were so torn up about losing her sister, she would have welcomed her sister's child. She would have defended Lily when Marge went on her rampage just before Harry blew her up. Perhaps she was jealous that Lily was a witch, but calling her a freak and being mean to her weren't the acts of a loving sister. Petunia didn't lose a sister so much as she pushed her sister away. Snape was a bully, no doubt, but he was Dumbledore's man until the end. Even as he was with Voldemort, he was still working for Dumbledore and towards Voldy's downfall. I think he did something to help Harry (or save his life) in every book -- even if it was indirectly with the potions textbook. And in saving Harry, he helped defeat Voldemort. Did he have to be an asshole? Eh, probably not, and he was still less bad than Umbridge.
  8. Oh my god, I'm an idiot. I waited all day at work for an e-mail with instructions to do a particular task, but it did not come before I left for the day. It had to be done today or tomorrow, and I'm off tomorrow and Friday. I checked my e-mail when I got home, and of course, there it was -- it came about 30 minutes after I left. But, yay! I brought home all the data I needed to complete the task! But, boo! The task requires a three-part log in, and I could only remember two parts -- the third part was written down on a notepad on my desk. I got very close with my guesses, but no dice, and I was afraid I'd be locked out, so I ended up driving back to work to get it. 45 minutes each way. I'm so mad at myself! Wasted time, wasted gas, but at least it's done.
  9. Today, I saw, "I wish there was a pneumonic device to help me remember." But my heart rejoiced at the sign by the express lane at Target, which said, "10 items or fewer."
  10. I love those! And TJ's cookie butter. Alas, the closest TJ's to me is about three or four hours away.
  11. Instaget FJ for me tonight. I also got the TS of bowling, Brunhilde, broken heart (after heartbroken was ruled incorrect), bisque, Very Large Array, and near-earth objects. And now I have Elmer Fudd and Bugs Bunny in my head -- "Oh, Bwunhilde, you're so wovewy!" "Yes I know it, I can't help it!"
  12. Catching up from last night, which was an archive game for me. I did get FJ, but it was not an instaget. And I got the TS of Riyadh, calcium, sulfa drugs, mule deer, Greenwich Village, and Honda.
  13. Same -- right down to the thoughts about Bing Bong. As did I, along with "hidden world" stories, but, as I said, I appreciated that we learned about that world along with Harry. Seeing it through his eyes for the first time is still enjoyable to me. Some TV channel had a Harry Potter weekend this past weekend, and I watched a lot of it. I definitely stopped what I was doing to watch Aunt Marge blow up, the Tale of the Three Brothers, and The Prince's Tale (Snape's memories). Oh, and when Fred and George decide their talents lay outside the realm of academia.
  14. The liquor stores in Virginia are state-run. You can get wine and beer at grocery and convenience stores, though.
  15. Not just a Midwest custom. We do it in the South, too. Not so much with casseroles, but other foods -- ham biscuits are a popular offering.
  16. The ad for Wegovy that uses the anthem song, "This Is Me" from The Greatest Showman annoys me to no end.
  17. Around here, diabetes is just called "the sugar."
  18. If Chairman Mao is acceptable, your alternate spelling of Zedong is also acceptable. 😉
  19. I went through so many mental gymnastics for FJ -- it was the famous trip to China! It was the leader! Deng Xiaoping! No, wait, the other one! What was his name? Oh, right, Chairman Mao....um....Zedong, that's it! I also got the TS of Centennial Park, rhythm & blues, and boron.
  20. I feel the same way -- we're learning about the wizarding world at the same time and pace that Harry is. I almost feel sad for the people who grew up in that world. They go off to Hogwarts and already have all this knowledge and expectations. I mean, sure, the first glimpse of the castle as you come across the lake is always going to be impressive, but everything else is already old hat.
  21. It was delicious. And then I had to have a handful of salty potato chips to cut the sugar.
  22. I got FJ, but it was not an instaget. I also got the TS of Heineken, McCarthy, elegy, ellipsis, and corundum.
  23. Thanks, @Mondrianyone! No day off, no pony, but I do plan on stopping by the cupcake store on the way home from work for a giant cupcake. Which I will eat with ice cream and chocolate syrup. And that may or may not be my entire dinner.
  24. Almost instaget for FJ tonight. Took me a second, but "spring" brought me to the right place. I also got the TS of Selective Service, seat, deuterium, Pleistocene, and James Madison.
