Super-duper, extra crispy instaget FJ for me tonight. I barely started reading the clue before I had the correct response. I did pre-guess Hamilton, though. So many TS! I got seal, Bahamas, natural, "cruelest month", noble gases, "man, my son", and Johnson. For the Wagner Ring Cycle, I said Wagner operas -- can I get a ruling from the judges on that one? It probably would have prompted a BMS, and I'm not sure I would have gotten to Ring Cycle in time.

I just started "We Are Not Like Them", written by Christine Pride and Jo Piazza -- a Black woman and a White woman. It matters, because the two main characters are a Black Woman and a White woman who have been best friends since they were about 5, and chapters alternate between them. It starts out with the shooting of a Black child by White police, and explores the connections between the two women and their reactions/responses to the shooting. I'm only a couple of chapters in, but it's really interesting so far.

I like frosting, but there is an ideal cake-to-frosting ratio. For me, that is a lot less frosting than Tina had on those cupcakes.

Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"

I have even heard Realtors mispronounce it! And it drives me almost as batty as nu-cu-lar. Jinx, @peacheslatour! -
I *should* have gotten pig in a poke, having recently watched European Vacation.

I only got half of FJ tonight, too, and the same half that Margaret got. TS/missed DD I got include mirepoix, gypsum, and wyvern. I said Mecca for that one -- would that have counted, or did they need the Grand Mosque? Not that it mattered in the end, but Clay should have been counted wrong for Daylight Savings Time. It's Daylight Saving Time.

I write my answers down, and "have" to finish in the allotted time.

Thank you! I didn't pay attention to the actor's name in the credits, and I knew he looked familiar. My mother was a teacher in the 60s, and when she was pregnant with my brother, her principal and her superintendent tried to prevent her working, including moving her from the 8th grade to the 6th grade. They also heavily implied that she would not be returning to work after she had my brother, but she fought for her job and kept it. She had to to the same thing a few years later when she was pregnant with me. I don't think the word "pregnant" was ever actually used, though.

It's where I get seed for the wild birds. They have the best prices around here on black oil sunflower seed. -

Same at my grocery store today. I was one of a scant handful of shoppers wearing a mask, and I think most of the employees were unmasked, too. -
2/5 for me this week.

No idea for FJ tonight, alas. And I only got the TS/missed DD of tin man, bullet train, Komodo dragon, and flycatcher. Congrats to Margaret!

I love the absurdist humor of Monty Python -- show and movies. Sure, some skits definitely don't work, and there are parts of "Meaning of Life" that I just can't watch, but for the most part, those guys just have me howling with laughter. I will always laugh at the dead parrot and the Ministry of Silly Walks, even though my hovercraft is full of eels, and it is pronounced Throatwobbler Mangrove.

S05.E15: A Lobster, an Armadillo and a Way Bigger Number

TripTiks were the best, back in the day. All the information you might ever need for your road trip, in one conveniently bound pad of paper. I loved those things. -
I love Sas the master manipulator. He was so awesome in such an understated way in this ep. Pete might have been picked last in the roommate lottery, but he actually was a first choice. Maybe instead of Isaac moving to the shed, Nigel could move to the house?

Awww, I'm sad that Missy won't go to Red Lobster with her dad any more. -
Ryan annoyed me from the very beginning, when the players were being introduced, so it doesn't hurt my feelings that he couldn't come up with FJ. I didn't come up with it, either, unless "What is that city on Sicily?" counts. But I did get calving, Okinawa, nylon, Genoa, lace, and merino. I have lots of merino wool socks. I love them -- so toasty in the winter.

A Case Of The Mondays: Vent Your Work Spleen Here

Our mask mandate will end on 14 March. I'm planning on continuing to wear mine unless I'm safely ensconced in my office, but I suspect I'll be about the only one who will. -
I feel like this finale was some real old-school TAR. And it was great! Everyone had an equal start, so it was all about the racers and their abilities. Airport hijinks, missed connections, and late-arriving planes can’t be blamed. Bad taxi luck can’t be blamed. The clues were more puzzle-ish than so many have been. The tasks were well-designed with lost of potential for shuffling the order. One of the best finales we’ve seen in a while, IMO.
