  1. Sorry, incorrect. There are still 22 ships of the Ticonderoga-class cruisers still in active-duty.
  2. So this band of rag-tag pirates, the band that can not help themselves with malaria, is able to create a network of naval mines able to trap a major warship. And those mines are capable to hone to their targets, meaning: They have propulsion system complete with power supply that can remains underwater for prolonged period of time. They have guidance system that can sense where the target is and lock into it and... They have steering system to steer the direction of the mine based on input from the guidance system. It looks simple enough on a first glance, but it is really not. Not to mention that the mines are smart enough to drop their tether when detecting an explosion. While the show stays with its Navy-porn, I am disappointed that it is getting relaxed with the details: Grooming standard. Wearing of uniform. Enlisted personnel calling an officer just by last name. What do submariner dolphins do in the cabin of the CO of a DDG?
  3. On the first season of Pensacola, they had a group of officers consisted of fighter pilot, helo pilot, Marine Recon and demolition expert, with the CO a fighter pilot. The missions were varied, mainly on land with all, including the pilots acting like Infantry.
  4. The series should have stopped with the establishment of the U.S. Government in St. Louis and the start of the global distribution of vaccines. Now the story is getting more and more outlandish with more and more techie bullshit with no grasp of reality. They did it last season, but since the story was somewhat made sense and the portrayal of naval procedures pretty much detailed, I let it pass. That is, the trope that since one is in military service, one is Infantry. Pensacola: Wings of Gold did it (aviators played to be Infantry), JAG did it somewhat (aviator and JAG), Last Resort did it too (submariners). Interestingly, all shows are about Naval personnel... Last season I also let it pass because their opponents were either riff-raff with no military training or just like them, seafarers. But this time they suppose to face the whole presidential guards and... WTF, why do I have to explain this?
  5. I checked Air Canada's routes, and it turned out that it did not have any flights to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), even as a codeshare. In fact, AC did not have any flights to Viet Nam at all. Does this mean that future TAR-C does not have to be restricted to AC's destinations only? This is great. I am sorry, I am from the region and I have to say that I am skeptical with this 53 degrees (assuming Celcius). The temperature can be high in the 30s with humidity index pushes it to lower 40s, but I never heard the population centers of SE-Asia hitting 50C.
  6. My observation from multiple seasons of multiple versions of TAR is that unlike Survivor or Fear Factor, their food challenges use real food that locals eat. Maybe not the food that locals eat on daily basis, but the food is legitimate food. Do you live in Viet Nam? Long time ago I went to Hanoi and they did sell fried insects on the street. I do not know if the insects are the same with this challenge, but insects are indeed eaten.
  7. So when the shore party is pinned down and needs help the ship 'cannot operate without a helo'. However, is the ship also missing her naval gun? She can easily provide suppressing fires to the boarding party and to the RHIB crew. And yeah, I do not like this version of the show. Too much gung-ho, less Navy.
  8. So Cersei is finally Queen. And it took us 5 years for this moment. Cersei has always wanted to be Queen Regnant ever since she had Robert killed. Too bad it took her two boys to achieve that.
  9. My question on the twist is that this is a new administration - no matter how ridiculous it came to be - how come The Eagle (a Selena Meyer political operative) gets to roam as he likes around Oval Office?
  10. Maybe I am not smart enough to comprehend, but what is the story with the two police officers? Was that the young Fusco?
  11. Moderator, can the episode title be corrected? I believe it is Blade on the Feather, meaning to put the oars parallel to the water. The depiction of Capt. Simcoe really stretches my suspension of disbelief. Really, a British Army officer could do whatever he did with impunity? Killing innocent civilians willy-nilly without any just cause, manhandling fellow officers, superior officer, even. Was British Army really that undisciplined?
  12. Well pardon me, I stand corrected. Let me rephrase it then. Let us think why is it that instead of expressing our loyalty to our country and our nation, we do so to a person, to someone who does not even live in our own country?
  13. Let us think then how is it that our own Head of State is not even a resident of our country...
  14. So now we know that in the time of the epidemic and recovery: Hong Kong changed to driving on the right side of the road. People in Hong Kong changed their daily language from Cantonese to Mandarin. Vietnam government was toppled by the old Republic of Vietnam. And Bravo Zulu for Sasha, an ex-intelligence officer, to be able to fluently speak Korean, Mandarin and Vietnamese. In reality, quite few people is able to do so.
  15. I am disappointed that they only showed Joss Carter's empty desk. What? Taraji Henson too busy with her record label, Empire Entertainment, or gets too expensive for a cameo?
  16. On the last episode, how was it that Chicken George was owned by a Briton? I thought slavery was illegal in Britain since 1778 and formally and officially abolished in 1833?
  17. Between Game of Thrones, Outlander and The Night Manager, Tobias Menzies is everywhere these days, is he not?
  18. So I am confused. If at the end Arya just ended his training without really becoming a No One, why did she go to Braavos in the first place?
  19. Thor Gundersen is finally dead! Praise to the Lord! Seriously, his story arc should have stopped at the rail bridge. Now that it is the final season, I guess TPTB just wants that arc to be out of the way.
  20. If William was in such a delirium state when he talked about 'American Dream', why was he still speaking English? When one is no longer able to control the stream of one's consciousness, would the mother's tongue not prevail?
  21. But it was King Louis (of France), was it not? Did King Louis have jurisdiction over Scotland? Otherwise, could King Louis speak on behalf of King George (of Great Britain)? That scenario seems rather unlikely considering the uneasy state between Great Britain and France - which will culminate in the Seven Years' War starting in 1754.
  22. I am a little bit confused with Jamie et alii's return to Scotland. Did they not escaped from Scotland for Jamie's safety? That he would never be safe from the English as long as he was in Britain? Whatever happened or not in France, that threat had not disappeared, had it? As well, if he could avoid that threat by hiding in Lallybroch, why did he leave in the first place? Was it not a bit reckless of Jamie to say (confirm) that his wife was a witch? She was in trial for exactly that, would he confirming it not putting even more risk to her safety?
  23. So Barry's own father died, and nobody from Team Arrow attended the funeral? How very rude of them. Of course, in-universe they are still busy fighting Darhk; behind the scene, there might not be budget to hire Amell or Rickards...
  24. As well, they could have had two versions of the finale. One for renewal with cliffhanger (as it is), and the other one for cancellation with closure for audience. Or they could choose to be assholes like many shows before, putting cliffhanger for the finale of a cancelled show...
