That article pretty well summarizes my fears about what they're doing with the Felicity character. I especially agree with this part:

I agree - don't think shrinking will happen.

That should be an interesting comic con - listed guests also include SA, CL, DR, BR and MB. https://rogueevent.co.uk/wordpress/the-city-of-heroes/ (Site has disclaimer: "Please note all guests appear subject to professional work commitments and as such please remember you are booking for the Convention and not one or more guests, therefore as per our Terms and Conditions refunds will not be given if a guest pulls out.")

So Ray in costume as the Atom will debut in 315 - the same episode where MG says the show takes a "hard left turn" that no one will see coming and will be one of the "biggest surprises". Maybe this hard left turn will be changing the show from one grounded in realism to one embracing 'superpowers' - like a shrinking man perhaps?

Having watched Gotham's latest episode last night, I can't help comparing the romantic relationships there with the ones on Arrow. Jim Gordon started out with Barbara Kean, his live-in girlfriend, who just seemed whiny and weak. Their relationship was angsty and unhappy a lot. He kept secrets from her. She got in danger. She ended up leaving him, lied to him, and went back to her ex-girlfriend temporarily before returning home to live with her rich parents. Barbara has been absent from recent episodes. Now Jim is starting a new relationship with Dr. Leslie Thompkins (played by Morena Baccarin), who lightens him up, helps him, and makes him happy. Leslie is a doctor and an equal. She and Jim have a flirty, bantering vibe going. They are both decent people in a city filled with corruption. BM and MB have tons of chemistry, unlike BM and Erin Richards (who played Barbara). When Jim and Lesley are together, you feel like everything is going to be alright. Get the comparisons? Unfortunately, I don't know how long Leslie is slated to stay on the show or what will happen to her, and I do know that

It seems like Laurel as the new BC remains a divisive character with the media as well. The articles I've read that are positive view Laurel as the underdog and like the idea of watching Laurel go through her training until she metamorphs into a competent BC. The ones that are negative view Laurel as the selfish Laurel of the past two seasons and are still skeptical of Laurel putting on the mask and costume with little training or character development. This whole article is worth reading, but I've quoted an excerpt below... Arrow Discussion: Does Laurel’s character even work as Black Canary? Apparently there's this Laurel=Buffy and Oliver=Angel comparison going around (I don't recall MG ever making this comparison, though)... https://twitter.com/jbuffyangel http://jbuffyangel.tumblr.com/post/100049727103/you-do-realize-laurels-arrows-buffy-and-olivers If we're going to go with that comparison (no matter how ludicrous), then this old 2013 article compares Felicity to Cordelia (you know, the one Angel ends up loving and has ”kyrumption"): THE BURDEN OF CANON: CAN WE TALK ABOUT ARROW’S OLIVER, LAUREL & FELICITY PROBLEM? http://weminoredinfilm.com/2013/05/15/the-burden-of-canon-can-we-talk-about-arrows-laurel-oliver-problem/ Incidentally, that article is worth reading, even though it's old, just from a historical perspective. Also, special credit for digging up this photo of Smallville's Black Canary played by Alaina Huffman (Sin, anyone?):

I've noticed that a few sites that did current episode reviews still used the old season 1 show description to describe Arrow (the one that still lists Tommy and Moira, but doesn't mention Felicity).

Regarding 315, I think that is the episode which originally had Laurel's cut line indicating she knows about Oliver and Felicity. Since 315 is also the episode where there's a "pretty good [Lauriver scene]", maybe Oliver and Laurel have a conversation about their current feelings for each other, and about Oliver's feelings for Felicity? 315 is also the episode where MG says the show takes a "hard left turn" that no one will see coming and will be one of the "biggest surprises" - so I don't know if that will be related or not. Regarding 318 and MG's spoilers that Mama Smoak won't interact with any of the other characters and that the scenes with Felicity will take place in the present day - one easy explanation is that Donna doesn't come to Starling City, but Felicity goes to visit her mom in Las Vegas. But where did the spoiler about the hospital come from? I haven't been able to find it. If the hospital spoiler is true, then maybe Donna is hurt or sick and that's why Felicity goes to visit her. (They could even add a teaser about her father, setting up that story for season 4.) If the hospital spoiler is not true, then maybe Felicity goes to visit her mom to get advice regarding Ray and Oliver, and to get away from Starling City for awhile.

I kinda like the idea that Felicity helps Oliver without knowing she was helping Oliver or Oliver knowing she helped him in the flashback. That would have a predestined overtone to it - that she was always meant to help him and they were always destined to meet. There's that reincarnation-type theory that some souls are destined to meet again and again in every lifetime.
