Getting to Genoa You All Over Again: Y&R Daily Chat
Joimiaroxeu replied to ByTor's topic in The Young And The Restless
That's what pisses me off the most about this undead Diane stuff (at least the most after her abandoning Kyle). If Diane faked her death that pretty much absolves Victor and Nikki of everything they did to her. Nah, AFAIC, Nikki still tried to kill somebody she thought was Diane, and Victor still did this shite: I am never going to be okay with a man physically abusing a woman. Not unless she swings on him first and even then, it depends the circumstances to me. Rumor has it there were some backstage troubles between Maura West and some of the cast, and a number of the Y&R actors (allegedly led by EB) pretty much closed ranks against her. The ambulance-tossing and the unusual brutality of Diane's murder were supposedly a message being sent of how unwelcome MW had become. I never knew much of MW before she appeared on Y&R but even if she was the biggest C U Next Tuesday ever, the way she got sent off was petty and vicious in my view. There's a reason Y&R is rumored to be a difficult show to fit into as a newcomer (especially if you'd already been a big name on another soap) and the whole MW/Diane episode helps me believe the negative hype. Nothing against Stacy Haiduk but I think she's doing fine over on DAYS. (She seems to be playing at least two characters I guess, or it's one person who has alternate egos. I dunno, I only barely watch DAYS while I'm waiting for something else to come on.) Let her stay over there and let Patty stay away from GC. If TPTB want generate ratings by bringing back supposedly dead characters, I want to talk about Dru, either with VR or a recast. -

I just want to point out that as of today's episode in the US, "undead Diane = Patty" is still pure speculation. And not all of us are hoping for such a plot twist to happen again. I'm personally over Patty and Sheila making themselves look like other people and taking over their lives. That trope is cheap and has been run into the ground IMO. Yeah, I think this is basically true. However, historically Diane didn't have much trouble agreeing to be a sidepiece, mainly for Jack. She had self-esteem issues and it often lead her into bad decisions and unfortunate behavior. (Such as setting the Abbott poolhouse on fire, and making it look like Phyllis had backed over her with a car.) AFAIC, faking your death (hence abandoning your young child) is next-level and pretty close to evil. I'm curious to know what Diane's excuse will be. -

Guess Michael went home and changed into one of his bespoke suits before he and Lauren met Victor at Society. Does Society have a dress code? Ashland's weakening. Victoria is clearly shining him on with this "you and me against the world" pretense and he's not in the least suspicious. Right there with ya, Jack. Diane showing up alive is all kinds of WTFery. And she's schemed on your innocent granddaughter too. Ugh. Yo, Diane: Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, Victor. Your crackhead security team failed again and Michael escaped his Peruvian captors despite their attempted help, not due to it. AFAIC Lauren can stay up your a$$ over the way you were so dismissive of her during her husband's disappearance. Um, Ashland, you might not be coming back from Tuscany. Don't worry too much about what to pack. Miss us all with the tears, Diane. You are out of your freaking mind if you thought Jack and Allie would be grateful for what you just pulled. I'm not even sure Kyle will be happy about it. Lauren, when you gulp down wine from those quart-sized goblets it's quite likely you'll end up drunk. Just sayin'. Nate was wearing a different colored tie today. For a change it wasn't lavender. Proud Adam doesn't realize Victor is using him as a stalking horse by appointing him temporary CEO of Newman/Locke. Daddy Vic is mainly trying provoke Victoria into falling back in line instead of keeping the family in dark on how she'll deal with Ashland. Now watch Nick step up and volunteer to serve as the CEO in order to maintain family harmony. These people are the definition of messy. π -
Veronique is already working the potential miscarriage angle with Franklin. For someone so small, she's not showing much of a 10 - 12 week pregnancy. They have all settled on Peaches as the turncoat but ehhhh, too convenient IMO. Teddy looks like he's still got one foot in the grave. What'll be the fallout for Franklin's operation if he dies though? Brave of Leon to confront an OG. He was giving Kane some real talk. Yeah, sadly a lot of those Vietnam vets never fit back into regular society. They weren't regarded as heroes like the Gulf War vets were. Peaches was hanging out in a heroin den? If he was sharing needles that would explain how he got probably got HIV. However, I don't see how he would've been able to hide a serious addiction from Franklin and the crew. Oy, Parissa is a straight-up sadist. And apparently Teddy just realized that he's into being a masochist. π Holy crap, that engagement ring Jerome gave Louie was stunning. He did good. Real good. π Louie asked a cop to do a hit on the head of a major gang. Wow. She really counts on the thirst Buckley has for her to mess up his good sense. Who was the guy Jerome went to see at the end? Was it Peaches? Ann Peebles singing I Can't Stand the Rain, one of the R&B classics of all time. This show does a fantastic job with its soundtrack.

Bow and Dre redefine "extra" but Bow dressed like the Bride in Kill Bill was funny to me. Scotch bonnet pepper. Learn something new... The Charlie Telphey Heartbreak Recovery, Live Your Best Life and Go On King, Ten-Step System to Finding More Fish in the Sea. Yep, definitely sounds legit. Clanky-mouth heifer. No-grammar-having hussy! What did Junior ever see in Olivia? π₯³ Leave it to Dre to break within two minutes of being interrogated and possibly ruin Devante's future. Meanwhile, perhaps Devante has dyslexia?

Was that the restaurant from B&B? Be funny if one of those fools showed up, like Katie or $Bill. It'd have been sort of a Y&R reunion with Jack. Sharon must have bought her top in the wrong size. It didn't look to me like it fit right. πΌ What was up with the old timey rotary phone in Noah's bedroom? Oh who am I kidding: THAT BODY THO!!!! π Lol, Noah had a nooner. Play on, playboy. π Whatever, it was good to see him smiling. Allie's masters degree is in Chemical Engineering. But of course. She'll be running Jabot within a year. Whoa, Ashley coming in hot with Phyllis. And on Phyllis' territory, as it were. Stand back everybody. π― I'm thinking Chance should have to bring a note from his doctor to return to work. How does anyone know he's telling truth about Dr. Huffman giving him the okay? Phyllis can give as good as she gets but I'm not sure it was her place to tell Ashley how to deal with her own brother. Even though they are kind of in-laws, IMO Phyllis is inserting herself into Abbott family stuff. Heh, I bet Noah's wedding invitation mock-ups were in Comic Sans but Mariah and Tessa didn't want to hurt his feelings by laughing at them. π Well you're right about one thing, Ashley. There's definitely trouble coming but her name is Diane, not Allie. Brrr. Did anyone but me yell AWWW SH!!!!TTT! when Diane walked in and greeted Jack? OMG, if only TPTB had kept that moment under wraps. It would've been 10x more amazing. π± -
According to Soap Hub, Jordi Vilasuso (Rey Rosales) is leaving Y&R. Y&R Casting Shocker: Jordi Vilasuso Is Out As GCβs Rey Rosales From the article: I'm guessing most Y&R viewers won't be surprised since the Rey character seems to have been in search of a viable storyline for at least a year. Taking bets now that Rey will be killed due to Chance having a PTSD-induced flake out during a police operation. Then, will Shick reunite yet again, or will Sharon live in widowhood for a while? I've seen suggestions that they put her with Ashland after Victoria dumps him. I'm gonna take a hard pass on that idea.

I'd put a sawbuck on Tara because Ashland let Kyle abscond with her child to another country. She'll be out on bail awaiting a new trial. Then she'll show up in GC just long enough to see little Haberdashery and kill Locke. After that, back to prison for her! -

They are two different vegetables, though closely related. If Abby was referring to the delicacy also known as the Belgian endive, it's "Ahndeeve." If she was referring to some common-looking curly greens, it's "en-dive." Since she also mentioned having radicchio, which can resemble a red-tinged Belgian endive, I think she probably wanted to say "Ahndeeve." They're kissing cousins: -

Abby. You are so out of touch. But then, neither the Newmans nor the Abbotts keep you read in on things. Like how your BIL is a massive con who faked his critical illness, and your uncle has a new grandaughter. WTF kind of space age polymer was Lauren's top made out of? The static electricity coming off that thing could probably light a small campfire. Hmm, I think Abby may have mispronounced "endives." So much for her fancy boarding school edjumacation. π€ Ashland, you should've done your homework better. The Baldwin/Fishers are some slippery mofos. They have decades of experience eluding the law, and others who try to take them down. Ashland mispronounced endives too. Maybe he was trying not to embarrass Abby, lol. Abby: Ashland, Chance and I really should use you and Victoria as shining examples of perfect spouses. Ashland: geez, you really are as oblivious as Victoria says. Abby: excuse me, what? Ashland: um, of course Victoria and I would love to have dinner with you and Cache. Abby: Chance. It's Chance, not Cash. You're such a joker! Ashland: <sigh> Michael, there's this amazing technology known as a cellphone. You could've simply called Victor in time you spent arguing with Lauren. Gah. π You don't make mistakes in business, Vikki? Hon, you made Ashland your co-CEO. 'Member that? Talk about letting the fox into the henhouse. π Okay, I did like Lauren's cape. Fabulous. Whoo, Kevin is big mad at Locke. Nick and Victor have both expressed mysterious plans to remove Locke if Victoria fails. Billy was shooting daggers at him yesterday. Yep, looks like a whodunit is brewing. π₯³ Sure hope Victoria isn't really planning to go to Italy alone with Ashland. There's a greater than zero possibility he'll harm her so he can take total control of Newman/Locke. But OTOH, the Atlantic is a vast ocean. Maybe she can drop Ashland off mid-flight and suggest he swim the rest of the way. π -

Dom was giggling up a storm. What was so funny? Surely not Chance. π Why didn't Victor just have his crack security team distract Victoria and then snatch up Ashland? While the Newmans were all hanging around in the office wringing their hands, Ashland could've been well on his way to parts unknown. In a crate. I also didn't understand why Billy was standing there watching Victoria and Ashland argue. And then Nick showed up. Dumb and Dumber. When Chance starts zoning out it reminds me of this special Desperado moment. Victoria told Ashland she thought everything was going to work out. Ashland took it as good news but maybe "everything" doesn't include him, ha ha. How does Abby know Chance isn't lying about Dr. Huffman recommending that he go back to work? Chance might just be using the doctor's name to convince Abby to let him do what he wants. Another Newman family meeting in one of their offices. π They better lock the door in case Ashland comes butting in again. Lol, Nikki was looking at Victoria like she'd just sprung a second head. I don't blame her. Victoria simply repeated that she loves Ashland and she plans to stay with him. π€― They better hope Victoria's lying and is running her own scam on Ashland. -
Melinda and MacKenzie got with their billionaires long before those guys got rich though. Rian is coming in late in the game, and after #metoo became a thing. If Prince didn't make her sign an NDA, I think the best she can hope for is a nice going-away gift which won't be half of his net worth. If Rian tries to accuse him of sexual harassment he can afford to fight it indefinitely. Taylor could try to go for the hostile work environment angle I guess, especially if Rian starts getting preferential treatment from Prince now and Taylor assumes it's because of the sex. Again, I think a lot of this hangs on whether Prince and/or Rian are going to keep it secret and leave it as a ONS, or if they're going to let it be known they're continuing to see each other.
-
Yeah, Dave drew a hard line with Chuck. She's definitely not planning to be his puppet. Or perhaps she just wants to have plausible deniability when she goes after Prince on her own. Ice sculpture fountains and dragon t-shirts. And club dancing dj'd by Questlove. Wow. What a generous guy Prince is. Wonder why Wendy didn't go to Prince's big party? Too busy putting a ribbon on the book knife she's going to stab everyone in the back with? When Chuck was meditating outside I kept waiting for him to look around and see Don Draper. Wait, what? After that speech Rian gave Taylor about not getting involved with her boss? What a hypocrite. But I guess sleeping with Prince is more lucrative. I'm curious to see how they'll play it at work. Keep it on the low or put it in everyone's face? I thought those things were filled with water? Seems to me you're not totally immersed if you're laying on top of something you can feel underneath you.

Well if anyone's taking a vote I'm thumbs up on PB IV. After PB III it's my favorite book, mainly because I love Raq and I also love Tommy. Creating a new universe around Tommy, in a new location, appears to have been a daunting task. They seem to be trying to sort out which characters are viable and which ones aren't. However, Tommy's charisma is undeniable IMO and I think the basic plot of him trying to become the Ghost of Chicago works. I'm not surprised it's getting a second season. If that little brat Tariq got past his first season then the Power Book bar has clearly been set fairly low. I'll be here for Tommy's continued adventures. Another interpretation might be that the current showrunner was meant to be temporary until the show got its footing. Or the guy got a better offer elsewhere. I'm having some difficulty parsing this. Is the problem that the son is half-Black; that we weren't told about it before now; or, that Kate got with a Black guy? The only thing I've put in the "awfully convenient" category is that Tommy just happened to land in Chicago where, surprise! surprise!, he has a brother and a nephew he never knew about before. What if he'd decided to go to LA as he originally planned? Would JP and D-Mac remained a secret to him? Maybe Tommy has secret family members all over the country in places he hasn't visited yet. (Or at least since he was a young child.) The possibilities are endless. π

I was quite surprised to see Sanditon show up again on my TV show tracker. Was also disappointed to learn right off the bat that Theo James wasn't returning. After watching S2E1, I'm wondering if the producers have to pay him to use Sidney's disembodied voice. Maybe not since it's just old dialogue from the first season. This season seems a lot messier to me than the first one. So far, anyway.

That Gary guy testing the Dahlia reminded me of this moment from Breaking Bad: "Nice to be working with a professional criminal." Lol, if only Tommy and Liliana could use their powers for good instead of criming. $100k in payoff money! Dang. Tax-free too. Not sure the Flynns are getting their money's worth though. Boy is Vic going to feel stupid when he finds out his sister is behind Dahlia. Wonder if he'll demand his money back from Bennigan? Liliana to Dr. Lauryn, "Fuck around and find out." Dr. Lauryn to Liliana "<gulp> Message received." Pshht, Claudia trying to do an end-run around Tommy to Diamond. She ain't slick. Of course Tommy's nephew D-Mac is a math prodigy. Of course. Next thing you know he'll be enrolling in college and running a version of Tariq's student app. Whee, Liliana is hot, hot, hot for JP. JP who was good in home ec in high school so naturally he can mix up some Dahlia. (Is JP bi or is he strictly dickly?) I didn't know Chicago State University was an HBCU. Learn something new every day. Thanks Jenard! π Geez, Jenard just started a CBI war with Moishe's crew. Idiot. Bye Gloria. Won't really miss you, hon. You were too wishy-washy. Oh boy, it's Kate. Watch out, Chicago. Here comes next-level trouble. IKR? Hope this doesn't mean we're going to have to watch him dying through another season. Me too. He can't trust her, plus I just don't see her making a good gangster moll.

Easy. The medical technician was also fake or she was paid off. Veronique was wearing fake padded skin on her abdomen. The ultrasound stuff was prerecorded from another patient who was actually pregnant, probably months ago. Franklin was in an enhanced emotional state so he wasn't paying close enough attention to notice it wasn't all real. I've seen the basic scenario done on a couple of other shows and neither of them were in the sci-fi genre. And soap operas have been pulling this kind of craziness for decades.
-
Dre calls his boss "Stevens." I wonder if his boss' last name was Black would Dre call him "Black"? Ehh, I'm betting he would not. Wow, wonder how much they paid to use that song by The Weeknd? The one which was the theme song for the Fifty Shades of Grey movie? π Charley is still gonna half-ass it. π€ Was Olivia not going to visit her family too? Seems like a long way to fly just to spend the whole time with Junior. IMO Griffin is the definition of obnoxious. He can't even humble brag right. I'm curious about when this episode was filmed. They mentioned the Super Bowl and Tom Brady but not either of the teams who actually played in the game. The game which was in LA and won by the LA Rams. Odd.
-
Hmm, Veronique has a good cover story with that whole daughter of a con woman business. I still think she's undercover though. And now Cissy might start wondering about her. TMW a tiger literally has your back. One inch over and Franklin would've been dinner himself. Or dessert. Are we to assume somebody shot the tiger? I can't imagine Franklin and them left it out there to roam the streets and possibly attack an innocent person. Ehhh, this was probably not a good time to be punching somebody bloody with your bare fists. Jerome will have to learn to deal better with his anger. Or just shoot them. TMW you realize your "nurse" has been raping you while you were in and out of consciousness. Teddy was dumbfounded. Guess he didn't know Parissa was damn near a necrophiliac. Sure. Veronique wants to keep distance from Franklin because she's not pregnant! That ultrsound appointment was faked and she'll be wearing padding until she can also fake a miscarriage. Okay, I'm liking Kane so far. He is a legitimate problem for Franklin. But does he know about Teddy? Teddy can probably call in an air strike, as it were. It'd be interesting if Veronique was put on Franklin by Kane. Meanwhile, I think the next time they see Peaches he'll either be dead or clearly dying.

Oh I really liked the color of Victoria's dress today. Was surprised she went with such a daring look though, given how her life just blew up. Great outfit on Sally too, in a solid burgundy. A rather conservative look for her I think, even with the slightly exposed midriff. Is it my imagination or does Rey light up in a particularly special way around Chelsea? Seems like Chelz gets the 100-watt bulb version of him while Sharon has to make do with the 60-watt. I also was surprised to see Victoria still wearing her wedding rings.π Dang, the cold look on Billy's face when Victoria was telling him how much Ashland had betrayed her. Is there going to be a "who slew the Locke Ness monster" murder mystery? Adam! You are the last person who should be lowkey threatening to hurt somebody's kid, even indirectly. Better hope Billy doesn't hear about it. Or Chloe. π So, Ashland's sale of Cyaxares was the first step in his plan to take over NE, or was that an assumption on Adam's part? Meh, smells like a bit of a retcon to me. Not unless Ashland already knew about Harrison being Kyle's kid, and he was planning to use it as a way to offload Tara. Then he'd be legally free to go after Victoria. Of course Victor has to have his crack security team keeping a protective eye on Victoria. Because she's weak and helpless and incapable of arranging her own bodyguards to keep Ashland away from her. FFS. Did Vikki revert back to an 8th grader overnight? π Re the previews: gee, Show, you couldn't have left that one reappearance a surprise for us? (Us viewers in the US, anyway.) π Heh, way back when I had a theory Harrison is indeed Ashland's kid and Locke had all the DNA tests altered to put the paternity on Kyle. Like Adam said today, it moved little Hammerhead out of harm's way while his real daddy pulled the con of the century. After Ashland took over the Newman/Locke companies and moved them to the Cayman Islands or Eastern Europe, his coup de grΓ’ce would be to inform the Abbotts he'd be taking his son back now. Then Tara would show up and kill him! π₯³ -

It's been announced in SOD that MM is returning as Kyle. Allegedly the role of Summer is being recasted but some think it's a contract negotiation ploy. Guess Diane and Phyllis will be battling not only over Jack but also their kids and grandson. -
Best Dressed Citizen of Genoa City 2022 Bracket

He put up a brave fight but alas, dapper Michael Baldwin was no match for his fashion icon competitor. Ladies and Gentlemen: your winner of the Best Dressed Citizen of Genoa City 2022 Bracket: Ashley Abbott, the style queen of all she surveys When reached for comment, her siblings Jack, Traci, and Billy responded, "Well done, Sis," and her nephews/niece Kyle, Harrison, Johnny, and Kate screamed, "Cool!" John Abbott is smiling in pride from the other side. (No word yet from Ashley's "new" niece Allie though. π) Thank you all for taking the time to participate! Give yourselves a round of applause. π- 78 replies
