  1. Arriving late to the Eastern and Central Time zones party...My reactions to the finale: Whoever wrote Julie's script failed on the alliteration opportunity. I would have gone with "finagled" instead of "strategized", so it would have been finagled...flirted...floated". However, perhaps they were afraid that "finagle" has too negative a connotation. Shut up, Jocasta. The game is all about lying and deception and hidden agendas. You're not holier just because you refused to play the game the way everyone knows it's played; you're just someone who jumped into an ocean knowing you couldn't swim. Seriously, the show is still treating Caleb's stalker delusions about Amber as a joke? Wow, it all came down to luck in the end and Derrick lucked out that Cody truly was loyal. He also gave the best answers in during the jury Q&A, IMO. Did Cody prepare at all? Victoria was fierce in her gold lamé dress but she looked like she applied her makeup with a spatula. Man, Caleb and Donny sure seemed bitter. Caleb pretty much runs on emotion but I would think Donny'd be mature enough to acknowledge that he was outplayed by a long shot by most of the house. Probably the only reason he stayed as long as he did was because of TA. So did Derrick deliberately throw the final HOH so he wouldn't have to be the one to vote Victoria out? If so, smart move. Technically she can't say he was disloyal since he (to her knowledge) never voted against her. And of course they let Frankie look like he cast the deciding vote. Yawn. Congrats Derrick! You crushed it! Yay Donny!
  2. ICAM. This reeks of turning out to be a huge fake out. But is it really going to be that big of a deal if Christopher makes a miraculous return from the dead sometime in the latter part of next season (probably in the season finale)? The only way I could see it mattering is if he turns out to be the father of Elena's baby. Cue the big South Fork wedding with Elena carrying the newest Ewing heir down the aisle instead of a bridal bouquet.
  3. Thank you. "Women who hate women" crystallizes my longstanding feelings about this book, feelings I had even before I finally got around to reading it. I think this book would have been received very differently if it had been written by a man. Why Gillian Flynn largely gets a pass on its misogyny is beyond me. A chunk of my women's book group left over Gone Girl because they wanted our group to read it and I didn't. (I finally relented only because of the upcoming movie.) The whole female misogyny and women backbiting other women thing now makes total sense. Gillian Flynn clearly knows how to write and has the ability to write well. I can only assume that she chose to do Gone Girl the way she did for primarily mercenary reasons. It's a book that was pretty much guaranteed to be made into movie.
  4. Caught this while channel-surfing as I wait for the Big Brother finale to air in my time zone. Is this supposed to be a low-rent Hollywood Game Night?
  5. Not sure I get this reference. Please to be explaining?
  6. And what'll make it worse is she won't have told him yet about her pregnancy. Wyatt will probably find out from someone else while she's in a coma or something.
  7. Wow, it sounds like Dr. Will is pulling for Cody--or at least isn't supporting Derrick. Maybe it isn't going to be a slam dunk for Derrick after all.
  8. It's on the CBS website for The Talk, in the Preview videos. Just watched it. Ugh. Those women never get confrontational with anyone and it'll be a virtual love fest for Frankie. I hope at least Sarah has something to say about his whacked out theories on lesbians that he pronounced for the world to witness.
  9. Are you freaking kidding me?!? Oh man, CBS is kissing that collective Grande a$$ hard. I wish Letterman would have him on the Late show. He'd chew Frankie up and spit him out and Frankie probably wouldn't even know it.
  10. Brad seemed to be doing a little double-talking during his convo with Randal. I think he knows about the affair. TP doesn't seem to have much of an idea how professional people work. How does Randal have time to be running around dropping in on people? How does Brad get any work done when his buddies can show up at his office to shoot the breeze whenever they want? Oh, okay, now we find out that Randal makes six figures a year testifying as a court expert and has a lot of free time on his hands. Touché, TP. I guess the word-of-the-day when TP was writing this script was "stereotype". Sigh, Randal and Alex's scenes are interminable. Giving those two actors all that slow, repetitive dialogue has a sleep-inducing effect the best narcotic drugs could only envy. Yikes, what has "Whitney" done to her face? It's hard to imagine that she's now old enough to have a 30ish-year-old son. Valet parking at a split-level tract house with a one-vehicle driveway. Seriously? But anyways...either Kelly is nuts or Travis has gaslighted her in a big way. Not sure I like where TP is going with this plot line. Did you mean Veronica? Whatever, yep, overprotective Rich Bitch whose son is apparently leading a hidden life so as not to upset his mommy. TP has that trope down pat. I hope not. I really want to see if TP will give us a scene where Brad is in the delivery room and watches this little brown baby come out. Now that'd be some soapy goodness, right there. I'll give TP a pass on that. Most of the SW border states have made things rather inhospitable for people who look even vaguely Mexican. Allegedly the drug cartels have responded by moving their operations further north into more unlikely places like suburban Ohio where people might assume they're, for example, Puerto Rican or Cuban. Well, to her credit Natalie hasn't broken out in a loud, wailing prayer at some random moment. Not yet anyway. I agree that this was the best episode so far. The bar was set pretty low though, so even the tiniest improvement will stand out, I think.
  11. Yeah but I think the worst was Liam suggesting that they could get rid of it real quick before anyone--including the child's possible father--found out. I'd have no problem if Hope wanted to make that choice (although I think it'd be a shady thing to do someone she supposedly loves) but for Liam to suggest it was beyond the pale, IMO. Quinn can keep on trying to kill him as far as I'm concerned but at this point she might want to contract the job out.
  12. Judith mentioned that she was able to connect the governor to one/some of her girls. He likely knows because blackmail is probably how she got the job. I'm glad at least that John Ross has his swagger back but now he's claiming he'll be worse than JR? In his dreams. Putting bets down now that John Ross and Mama Ryland are going to hit the sheets at least once next season. She might break a hip in the process but Mama Ryland will rock John Ross' world. Was anyone surprised to see Pam going to town on top of Nasar? He's kinda hot and I hope he sticks around, although I guess he'd have to find a reason to move from Las Vegas to Dallas.
  13. They're still on the Internet Archive (http://tinyurl.com/ms2tsa3) but the pages are tough to navigate. You can pretty much only click on specific page numbers because the "Prev", "Next", "go to last page", etc. functions don't work anymore.
  14. Yeah, I think it all comes back to Ray. He's trained them to think that he's always going to fix whatever happens. They don't have to be responsible or make good decisions because they know no matter what, Ray will fix it. Abby seems to have seen the fallacy in that thinking but then she goes off on her own wrong tangent with the cop boyfriend. Ultimately her only way out would be to find another wealthy man who'd be willing to take her and the kids. Of course, Ray would have to be dead or spending life in prison before that could happen.
  15. Me either, especially since the show would never go there. CBS would be picketed and boycotted and it would be a huge PR disaster. In fact, i think having Liam suggest that as an option (he's talking about aborting his own nephew or niece, if not his own child) is perhaps just a sly way for the show to send an anti-choice message. Unless the woman/girl has been raped or is facing a life-threatening situation with the pregnancy, no woman on a daytime soap is going to be having an abortion ever again.
  16. I wasn't paying 100% attention...did they explain why the guy and girl riding in the sports car under the jet didn't have their eardrums blown out or at least experience a temporary loss of hearing?
  17. Eric Nelson, the young actor who played AJ Chandler in the reboot, is currently appearing in Liam Neeson's film, "A Walk Among the Tombstones". It's a small part with only a few lines but his scenes are all with Neeson.
  18. I wouldn't be surprised if something like that is afoot but Victoria must not be aware of it because you'd think she'd be watching her potty mouth on camera.
  19. Only to the extent that her target audience might not be big watchers of BB. Otherwise, she's gotten weeks of free publicity to prance around modeling her clothes and fake hair. It's like the best extended computer dating video ever! (Which I suspect was Brittany's aim too but unfortunately for her the fellas put the kibosh on it.)
  20. I was including his TA earnings and his weekly stipend. It'll probably be over $600 thousand. Oh, probably all their family members and friends will buy one. Just going by the size of their wedding party (based on the photos posted on BB sites), they'll probably make a few thousand. Edited because not even CBS is going to give some reality game show winner almost a billion dollars...
  21. Wow, like close to a million dollars in prize money (before taxes) isn't going to be enough for them? Whatever, I don't blame them for trying. After Breaking Bad ended I bought a "Los Pollos Hermanos" t-shirt. I still wear it around town and occasionally someone will laughingly point out that they get the reference. However, "Hit Men" seems so generic. Pretty much any much any reality show with teams could use that name. Heck, future BB players could use it. Are Derrick's people going to be able to trademark it or use the BB logo? Probably not. It might work better if they put Derrick and Cody's pictures on it (maybe in some kind of cutesy pose with them aiming finger guns) but other than the hardest of hardcore fans, who will want to run around wearing those images?
  22. Yeah, it's dumb but I think besides his warped sense of loyalty there's the fear of losing to a woman. I'd really be surprised if Cody took a chance on that happening. If he walked away with $50K as a loser to Derrick he could live with that but it would haunt him forever if he "let" Victoria beat him.
  23. While y'all are so busy giving each other tongue baths up in here, I want to say that the speed at which the Frankie thread title and Overwhelming No's user name were changed in response Julie's historic words was one of the most hilarious and amazing things I've witnessed on the interwebs. Thank you to everyone behind the scenes who helped make that happen.
  24. The ladies of GC have been rocking the solid jewel tones lately and it's been fabulous. Oh the snark...it burns! "A rotten beginning" is what they're calling being drugged and raped now? Ugh. When's Adam getting back? Maureen is so slippery. She'll have drunk Nikki trawling trucker bars before it's over with. I love it.
  25. Do Liam and Wyatt really run around LA with those ridiculous mini-letter openers around their necks? I don't know why but Liam in particular looked so silly to me with that thing on today. He's such a little boy. Heh, big bad Hope swooped in like she was going to read Quinn like the untranslated version of War and Peace. But, Quinn flipped it and reversed it and read the princess like the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy. I hate to say this but Quinn should go into politics. That woman can b.s. her way out of anything. She could probably stab Liam on live TV and not one friggin' person would call the cops because she'd convince everyone that he wanted her to do it.
