@Netfoot I am just happy you saw the post - I was afraid that with all the chaos earlier this week you might have missed it. My original idea was the tongs - I included the board because it makes a nice set. However with two other vendors selling them it makes perfect sense for you to not make them also. The tongs in the picture are 8 inches top to bottom (although I have an older pair that is 7 inches however it has a smaller centre piece than the pictured one). The "fingers" are just under 1 inch wide and 1/8 inch thick. I am glad you have the magnets - that was one part I was worried about since I have no idea where to get them. As for glue - I never thought of that. However I always remove the tongs from the toaster when using it and wait until it has cooled before re-attaching them. Good luck!

S04.E17: Best of Men/S04.E18: In Sickness and in Health
luv2lurk replied to jewel21's topic in 9-1-1: Lone Star
This show should be re-named Lone Star. Two hours, one emergency at the beginning. Soap opera level drama with impossible story lines for the next 90 minutes. And inconsistent timelines - when Owen's family arrived wasn't the wedding supposed to be in 5 days? Then Gabriel gets shot, there is an immediate funeral and then two weeks until the planned wedding? Call to 911 at the end to remind us what the show should be centred on. -
There is a man at my church who makes beautiful wood items every year for the Christmas market. Mostly bread/cutting and charcuterie boards. I think they just involve cutting, sanding and glueing; finishing with mineral oil (food safe) but they are beautiful because he uses different woods. But the most ingenious thing is his toaster tongs - they are wood with a magnet - so they will attach to the toaster. Looks like 3 pieces plus magnet. Here is an example of one I bought (board and tongs). Price is in Canadian dollars - the tongs alone sell for $10. If you are interested I can PM you with the tong measurements.

"If you could read my mind", "Sundown", "Rainy Day People" to name a couple of other songs. Apparently there are about 500 - many of which are covered by a bunch of other artists including Elvis Presley, Barbra Streisand, Harry Belafonte, Johnny Cash, Anne Murray, Jim Croce, Bob Dylan and Sarah McLachlan. For me, he was part of my teenage years. I was learning to play the guitar so learned his songs. Or the radio was playing as I did homework.

And just to pour salt on wounds, Gordon Lightfoot passed away. I can sing along with every song they play with the news. Amazing that 40-50 years later the lyrics are still in my head. RIP to the incredible Canadian singer/song writer.

I think finish the popsicle and stand with mineral oil and present as in the second picture and call it a job well done!

Ironically it is a company called Hudson Bay Capital that tried to bail out BB&B earlier this year. Don't think it is related to the department store. I think traditional department stores have been replaced by Walmart, Amazon, etc. The last time I was in a Hudson's Bay store was in July 2020 - I needed a new watch battery. The store was empty - except in the watch repair, huge line. As someone told me when I asked about the line - well we haven't had anywhere to go for months! Several months (or maybe a year) later, I placed an order at thebay.com. I placed it at 5pm, it was shipped at 8pm the same day and I received it the next day. Best online shopping experience ever. So online might be the future of this store. As has been mentioned, liquidation sales have been going on in Canadian BB&B stores for a few months, but the discounts have been minimal.

Actually, my cat does the same thing to indicate I need to get up and feed her. She will start with approaching my nose/mouth with a lick kiss which semi works to arouse me from sleep. If my hands are under the cover, she will move it back to get to them. One time when biting did not work, she licked my entire arm which was not under the covers. Difference from this video is I am not awake enough to capture on camera 😀

For me it is definitely the box. If it was a signal problem I think it would have shown up when they did the remote boost plus I can get CNN (which is the channel I miss the most) on my ancient TV in the bedroom which is on a digital adapter (it is so old it is not HD). At the time, the tech person told me I would never get the channels back but as I said that was weeks ago and they do come back. What I find suspicious is why do they go out on Wednesday evening and return by Friday? @PRgal the challenge with replacing your box is that the only boxes they have now use internet not cable technology. Once you have it on one box, all boxes need to be replaced. Which is another reason for me not to change since the digital adapter will no longer work and even if I got a box for that TV, it is so old it doesn't have the outlet to plug one in. So I would have to get a new TV. The good news for you if you want to make the change is that Rogers will ship you the new boxes and you can return the existing equipment free of charge if you are comfortable self installing. If you want to have them install then the person doing that will bring the equipment and take the old away. There is a fee for installation but you can probably negotiate with them to do it at no charge since your existing equipment is not working properly.

I am honestly not sure if this belongs in this thread or pet peeve. Starting mid-Feb I regularly lose reception on a number of channels EVERY Wednesday evening. Sometimes they come back Thursday or Friday. In the case of one sports channel, it will come back in the evening but not during the day even on weekends (which was annoying since I am a curling fan and really wanted to watch the Men's Worlds and this was the only channel it was on). I contacted the provider (via online chat) when the problem first occurred and they tried to boost the box remotely, but ultimately said - sorry you need a new box and our new (more expensive) service which is internet, not cable based. The agent did spend an hour chatting back and forth with me but ultimately I decided not to make the change. And since then I have learned that it seems to be a weekly thing with the box. So, I think not really its fault. I live in Canada where we have few providers and the one I use for cable and internet had a huge outage last July (people could not use debit cards, call 911, or obviously the internet). But I still had cable so I could watch TV. So I like having my cable and internet. My question for @JTMacc99 who is in the business - are they deliberately withdrawing service so I will change to internet based? And also how does internet based on a TV change the cost structure? I would think they would have to pay the same per channel as they would with cable.

OK this board is wonky - it just told me a message I sent weeks ago has been restored - might explain why @Netfoot did not reply. Anyway what I wanted to say is since you have a free day - make many phone/tablet stands - sounds like they are easy for you and I think will sell well.

I agree, and raise you one - people who type "then" when they mean "than". -
Selene has clearly out-grown this box, but still loves going in it She will be a year old April 6th, so almost a cat instead of kitten. But she loves rolling over and exposing her tummy.

Hi @SweePea59 I use Safari for this site and it works 90% of the time. The other 10% it freezes so I close and re-open. Yes the ads slow it down, but if not for them we couldn't converse, right?

Actually I was and remain one of them. The one week later in the fall doesn't bother me. But two weeks earlier in the Spring is unnecessary. It is now dark in the mornings with the later sunrise and too cold to make use of the extra daylight in the evenings (unless you need to walk the dog). I agree with all of @JTMacc99's points about why those of us living in northern regions need the two time changes. -
@Netfoot I was perusing the S35 Spoiler Non-elimination thread (contains route info) and thought of you:

@peacheslatour - I am so sorry to hear about Nathan - Big Virtual Hugs! Somehow I think Elizabeth will recover faster than you and based on the descriptions you have given of her, I think she might enjoy being an only cat 😁 With regard to adopting an older cat, co-incidentally I came across this story yesterday: https://www.cnn.com/2022/11/24/uk/flossie-oldest-living-cat-intl-scli-gbr/index.html It should give hope to all!

I had grape tomatoes that were purchased around Christmas and not used. They had become wizened, but otherwise OK. So I decided to put them in a pot of water for a couple of days to plump up. Also had a few "new" potatoes from last fall that are growing eyes but otherwise ok. Decided to make soup. Sautéd an onion in olive olive, added a few peeled and smashed garlic cloves and peeled and diced finely potatoes. Cut the tomatoes in half and added to the pot. Plus freshly ground sea salt & pepper. Then for a little more liquid I added some Tomato & Clam juice (I know most Americans can't access this product, so regular tomato juice would work). Simmered on low, covered for 45 minutes. Blitzed with immersion blender. What would really be nice is basil but at this time of the year there is none in my garden and no way I am purchasing from the grocery store. Happily I had some Boursin cheese (basil and chive flavoured) so put a couple of dollops on top of the soup. This turned out to be really delicious and best of all saved food waste 😀

Racoons. The bandits invaded my house a over a year ago ago. And had a litter in the attic. Then they left. Finally got the roof repaired (cuz there was a foot square hole due to damage to roof vent). But seems roofer left a racoon inside - it has now destroyed rear roof vent to escape. -
How well did the tea lights sell?

@Netfoot, with regard to your nail, I think just let it grow out. I once accidentally closed a house door on my index finger and effectively ripped the nail from the base. I did a lot of swimming back then and alway wore a band-aid to prevent it falling off. Eventually the old nail grew out and a new one grew in (about 6 months total). And I am sorry, but I have no sympathy for 66F nights being cold. It is currently around 34F outside and I have no working furnace due to electrical problems - so about 48F inside. With regard to the tea light holders- I agree with other posters. Some holiday themed is good, but if you make more keep them neutral. I would buy neutral so they can be used beyond the holiday season, but that is my Scottish roots showing!

@Netfoot I am wondering if you have a Santa hat? It would put the jolly into your booth this weekend.
