  1. I couldn’t believe the over improvers put those slick porcelain tiles on the floor and on the floor of the shower. Those were an accident waiting to happen.
  2. It was pretty easy to tell which apartment she was going to pick when you saw the empty hooks for her “extensive bag collection” on the bedroom wall. She probably thought the Valentino shoes she was wearing were very Parisian, but you don’t see too many Parisian women wearing stilettos on the street…now if she had Stan Smiths on with her outfit, that would have Parisian. I so would have taken the first apartment, it was gorgeous.
  3. I thought it was odd that the historical commission could dictate what was done on the inside of the house. Here in MA, I think they just care about the outside, as long as the appearance stays the same, you’re good. Again, useless kitchen, and no where to sit at a table.
  4. It sounded like they were going to help with the settling in part…immigration, how to set up utilities, etc. I’ve read David Liebowitz’ Paris book, and it sounds like there are a lot of differences there compared to the US, probably the same in every country.
  5. there was a dishwasher and a wine fridge on the third floor, but was there a regular fridge? I would have done that instead of the wine fridge so that you could keep milk/cream for coffee up there. From the outside it looked like a triple decker like we have in Boston, but those are houses for three families, and there are streets with just those. I have been in a couple that were turned into one families, with the master suite on the top floor, and the owners say that traipsing up and down all those stairs gets old fast.
  6. Did the upstairs bathroom (the one they already had) have a shower? Or was it just a half bath? I liked the design, especially keeping the fireplace. I don’t like when they get rid of every wall, to me that looks like an apartment.
  7. We don't know how time travel works...to Chloe, it might have seemed that Rory was only gone for a minute. And we didn't see any part of Chloe's house except the bedroom (which may have even been some kind of hospice) ..I did think it was weird that the bed had golden pillows. They didn't seem very comfortable. :)
  8. I’ve made the Robuchon potatoes…they’re not that hard, you just have to follow the steps. And they are delicious!! I make sure my potatoes are dry when I make regular mashed potatoes now, they do seem to be fluffier. I just drain them, and throw them back in the pot for a few minutes until I can see that the water is gone.
  9. I just binged all the episodes today…loved seeing them stroll through Navigli in Milan (where they had the aperitivo), and the Roman slaughterhouse. There’s a Michelin starred restaurant in that area where I had one of the best meals of my life. I think they did a great job with the show.
  10. I'm going to guess that the bolts on that toilet seat were as rusty and disgusting as everything in that bathrooom. If the owner really misses it, he can buy a new one. https://danielsbath.com/products/island-of-dolphin-decorative-toilet-seat
  11. This week’s house was nice, but it looked like every other house she’s done. And I could care less about her friend and the house in Nashville, fast forwarded right through those stories.
  12. Nope, that was a one bedroom suite, hence the girls sleeping on the pullout.
  13. When they opened the front door right into the kitchen counter…ugh. *And* they spent all that money and didn’t get rid of that ugly front door?
  14. They made specific mention of Claire being short of money due to med school loans...just a little odd, NBD. Some (most) of the time the backstories make no sense.
  15. RE Claire's house...interesting that Mom would buy her a house, but not help her with med school loans? It struck me as odd. Mom must own the house as an investment, and is renting/loaning it to Claire while she finishes her residency?
  16. So the suite they had at the FourSeasons Hawaii would be about $2500 a night in February. Expensive, but not really rich people.
  17. Was it ever established that Paula came from a poor background? That backpack full of pills had to cost something. And I don't think the Mossbachers were as rich as they would have liked to appear...otherwise they would have had a two bedroom suite, instead of the kids sleeping on the pullout sofa. And a cot.
  18. Re: Armond’s body…I assumed the island was too small to have a medical examiner/coroner, and they were shipping the body over to Honolulu to be autopsied.
  19. If someone asked me for a two tiered cake I would assume they meant two cakes (one smaller) stacked on top of each other. A two layer cake would be two cakes, same size, with filling in the middle.
  20. Agree about the kitchen having way too much going on…something about the oak cabinets with the black pulls and the green cabinets made me slightly nauseous. And is Christina merching her purse? Why does she always have it on while she’s showing these houses?
  21. I was just thinking about Autumn’s “chowder”…it looked more like pudding to me. Real chowder is basically the consistency of heavy cream (or even lighter) with clams and potatoes. And I’m a Bostonian, have the accent, and I have no idea what accent hers is.
  22. To elevate the food scene. I’ve been to Indianapolis, they have some pretty good restaurants. Gordon pronounces pasta the way every English person I know pronounces it…
  23. Am I bad for thinking I wanted to dig my fingers into his beard? It was delicious. And I don’t normally like beards. I think he picked a good apartment.
  24. The pictures seemed like a fairly workable idea (except that so many were not very good), and the prices weren't outrageous, but the pottery idea seemed nuts. How could you use a pitcher that had a price tag on it? I think Ontario is fairly like New England, and vacation rentals around here can be pretty much year round (I have cousins with houses they rent out).
  25. She definitely said she was dating the captain of the boat she was working on, and the pic on Instagram looks like date night. Isn't he like 30 years older than she is?
