  1. It's possible that Joyce didn't say anything. News stories can be planted.
  2. I don't know if the show will go with this interpretation, though I don't see why not, in the comic...
  3. It's a pretty big plot hole, but one of many I'm willing to allow them. Most of the plot holes like this one, like Hopper breaking into a highly secure government facility, etc, glossed over things that weren't necessarily important, and by just speeding past those hole we got a tight eight episode season without anything slowing it down, like a sideplot about raising money for the funeral or something.
  4. I think the choice he made was an adult choice. The kids are able to understand morality as black and white, and reference a movie that's equally child-like in it's interpretation of "good" and "evil." Hopper's been around and knows that the world doesn't work like that. Sometimes you have to navigate murky waters to protect the ones you care about. Hopper himself seems like an upright guy and he's also really smart. I can't see him making the decision to do what he did without considering the possible consequences and if there were any better options. I don't think he left the waffles out of guilt so much as responsibility of caring for a young girl who is in horrible circumstances. Also, I'm sure that caring for El, whether she's out there or he's just wishing she is, helps him heal some more over his daughter's death.
  5. It reminded me of The Hand That Rocks The Cradle but with a surrogate mom instead of a nanny:
  6. This is also really good. The Young Professionals cover Lana del Rey's Video Games
  7. Nice! I like that he backs up my plant-based monster theory:
  8. Whomever was the casting director for this show deserves a medal.
  9. Btw, is anyone here familiar with Lexi Alexander. I lover her to death. She's very outspoken about gender and POC in Hollywood and I think she's amazing!, this video pretty much is what made me fall in love with her:
  10. I agree. Also, Dustin strikes me as what Seth Rogan would be like as a 12 year old.
  11. Thanks for this. Great version. This is hilarious: Jeff Tweedy doing an acoustic spoken word version of I Gotta Feeling by Black Eyed Peas :D
  12. Millie Bobby Brown was amazing in this show. Never saw someone so young be able to show such emotion on their face like that. Also, she has a youtube channel and she's totally the cutest kid ever:
  13. Am I the only one who thought of ET when they put the blonde wig on El? Or when Mike hid her in the closet?
  14. Have you ever seen Daniel Van Kirk doping his Mark Wahlberg bit? He's hilarious, especially when he shows up on a podcast in character and imrovs the whole thing.
  15. He looks about right for his age. I don't think he looks old or bad at all.
  16. I agree that mysteries are often best left unexplained, but if they do it right they can make a second season that isn't a trite explanation of the mysteries.
  17. I agree about Daisy Ridley but Jones is more age appropriate for me.
  18. I can't call this a crush yet because I've not seen her in anything, but Felicity Jones looks really sexy in the Rogue One trailers.
  19. Same here. I think he was a very compelling character and Harbour did a great job playing the role.
  20. I really liked the show a lot. There were a few clunky parts, the worst offender being Hopper getting into the facility so easily, though I can forgive the clunky parts because the rest of the show was so good. I liked the design choice of going with an organic look to the portals, that you're basically stepping (or crawling, in Nancy's case) through something gooey and gross. It was very David Cronenberg. I like some of the theories about the Upside Down, but I don't think we really have enough info to know what's what yet. My big question about the UD is did it change and if so, why? When El is travelling in the spying/experiments we see that shes in a dark world, but it's very austere and there's none of that growth around or any of the physical things from our world that were in the UD. It could be that they are two different places, or it could be that the austere dark world became corrupted by the monster or whatever El did that opened the portal. Also, does anyone else feel like the monster is plant-based? It's mouth is looks like a venus flytrap or pitcher plant. The UD is covered in some sort of weird vines and all the stuff floating in the air I'm pretty sure was pollen or spores. It looks very much like cottonwood pollen. My thinking here is that the monster is plant-based appendage that consumes animals/people as sustenance for the entire organism. edit: the cottonwood pic doesn't do it justice so I found a vid:
  21. I haven't seen 47 Ronin. I heard horrible things. At least Great Wall is being directed by Yimou Zhang... I liked Snowpiercer.
  22. Benson is an un-apologetic pothead, but I don't think you can blame the walleyes on marijuana.
  23. Garden State I don't recall the characters' names but they were horrible for each other. There should be a sequel called crash and burn, where we all learn that: 1. There's no such thing as a manic pixie dream girl for more than a week; then she turns back into a pumpkin real person, and 2. if you have genuine mental illness the love of a woman will not replace your meds, even if those meds were prescribed by an irresponsible family member. Also, what's with this plot point of controlling parents trying to be their children's psychiatrist? It's a plot point in Unreal as well, and I've always found it an implausible and awkward plot point.
  24. Good news is that the new Alien movie that's in development is going to pick up after Aliens, and act like the later movies didn't happen. Hollywood is always pretty conservative when it comes to spending money. I'll bet once there are a few all-female franchises/reboots make some cash they will start greenlighting non-franchise/reboots. I'm not saying it should be that way but sadly it's how it is. And of course we're getting female-led movies genre movies already like The Heat and Spy which is a plus. Now where's my all male Steel Magnolias? :P
