  1. I think Kyle is perfect for this type of show because he always manages to keep the Peter Pan antics from being aggro and excessively drunk-sweaty the way, say, Carl is. His overgrown fratboy personality is the stuff of VPR, but his messiness is never quite as dark as them. I probably wouldn't find it cute in real life, but I do find it entertaining without the heaviness that usually goes hand in hand with "alcohol-induced Bravo antics."

I was rolling my eyes so hard at Sandgren's defense. And I've always disliked John Isner, but it's so ridiculous seeing him jump to Sandgren's defense on social media without him actually seeing some of the truly vile stuff Sandgreen has tweeted/retweeted. How exactly does Sandgren defend posting a picture of Serena Williams with the caption "disgusting"? Hopefully Chung can continue his run and make the SFs.

Well, just because you disliked Kwan and/or found her overmarked does not mean she didn't have a stellar international reputation and results.
  4. So I finally saw the Leslie Grossman/Shannon Beador episode, and it was odd that Andy seemed almost annoyed at Leslie's fangirling over the HWs. I thought her enthusiasm was really adorable. He usually eats that shit up. I guess since Leslie's not an A-Lister or someone Andy wants to sleep with, the HW fangirling isn't as amusing to him.
  5. Yeah, considering how entertaining the rest of the season was, I was surprised at how boring and pointless the reunion ended up being. I don't even come away changing my mind on the lineup if there's a next season. LeeAnne, Brandi and D'Andra are definitely going to be asked back. I would imagine Cary as well. Stephanie probably will, too, altho she and Kameron are the most expendable if anyone's getting cut.
  6. I feel ya. I'm not really a LeeAnne sympathizer per se, but I can't get that outraged at her since so much of this show revolves around her crazy. You basically NEED her antics for everyone else to react to, so I'm less inclined to clutch my pearls at her being a loose cannon. This show relies heavily on her blowups as the source of conflict. To me, this isn't the case of, say, Brandi Glanville, who had alienated the rest of the cast that by the end it was just painful watching her on screen. I think LeeAnne knows exactly what she's doing, and in the interviews I've heard with her, she more or less acknowledges that she's getting paid to create conflict for a more entertaining show. I don't doubt there's a level of unstable there that is completely real, but I also don't have to interact with her in real life. In the context of trashy Bravo reality shows, I fully understand the purpose she serves and place she has in the cast.
  7. I just had to pop in to say, I can't even tune in to this show because my ears are so frayed by the commercial where the husband's vocal fry is off the charts when he says "uggggleeeeee neighborhoooooods."
  8. I tend to believe Kameron's whole persona is a performance for the producers. Every now and then you see the facade slip, like when she started laughing in Mexico after someone made a joke about being dirty (after she fled the dildo for a second time). The whole thing seems like an act to me, like the producers want her to play the pearl-clutching, pink-obsessed Dallas society queen and then they slapped on the Legally Blonde parallels to draw people in. It's not working for me, but I also can't take it seriously because it just seems like a season-long act for the cameras. Actually, from what I've seen on the internet, LeeAnne seems to be the most popular of the Dallas HWs. She has the biggest social media following by far, with Brandi in second. LeAnne is obviously polarizing, but I think a lot of people recognize that without her, the show would be lacking the engine to drive a lot of the drama and storylines. Brandi sometimes helps the storylines along, but to me the show is clearly dependent on LeeAnne's loose cannon spitfire behavior to generate conflict and conversation for the other HWs to react to.
  9. Yeah, from the sounds of it, most of the NY cast has donated, so it doesn't seem like this will be a point of contention at all. Bethenny publicly thanked Ramona, Tinsley, and Dorinda for their donations. Even Kelly Bensimon(!). Bethenny has also mentioned Luann (and Erika and LVP from BH) had contacted her about getting involved. And she's also thanked Lisa Rinna for her donations. The only one I haven't heard Bethenny publicly mention is Sonja.

That's incorrect. Federer pulling out DID enable Nadal to obtain the number 1 ranking at Cincy. Had Federer entered the tournament, mathematically he would have had a chance to become 1 himself depending on how he finished in the tournament. With Federer and Murray out of Cincy, there was no one left besides Rafa who could obtain enough points to claim the top ranking. Also, I don't know where you're getting your information that Rafa has been "#1 in The Race rankings for pretty much the whole year." Federer led the race until the clay season (which we all know he skipped entirely), due to his winning the AO AND the Sunshine Double. I'm speaking purely in terms of mathematic possibilities, not as a fan assessment of their games or performances.

Yeah, Nadal will be #1 officially next week and thus the top seed at the USO regardless of what happens in Cincinnati. The official ATP rankings are always a little behind what's actually happening because they're only published once a week, but he is definitely #1 now that Federer has withdrawn from Cincy. Also, Sharapova was granted a wildcard for the U.S. Open. http://www.wtatennis.com/news/us-open-announces-maria-sharapova-among-2017-wildcards
  12. I don't see how Wacha can be such a priority in Andy Cohen's life when he spends so much time traveling, celebrity ass-kissing, and partying in between his work schedule. While plenty of busy people own dogs, I have to give the sideeye to Andy claiming the dog is such a priority in his life. If Wacha is resource guarding and has a tendency to nip at strangers, you'd think it would occur to Andy that he shouldn't bring Wacha onto the show. Plenty of dogs that don't have issues with nipping would be overwhelmed and stressed out by all the stimuli of a live studio audience, much less one with a history of behavioral issues. That Andy seems so clueless about how to handle Wacha's issues is just irresponsible dog ownership, IMO. Andy comes across as someone who enjoys the "look at my expensive designer handbag" quality of having a dog as an accessory as opposed to being someone who is actually attentive to what his dog needs. Fortunately for Andy (less so for Wacha), he's successful enough that he can just throw money at his dog's problems and then ignore the issues during the periods of time he's with Wacha.
  13. I agree. There's no way this was a publicity stunt. Way too costly to shut down and then resume production, and there's no way the show would ever willingly involve WB's legal team just to make headlines. And as scummy as I'm sure the behind-the-scenes dealings are, there's no way the producers would concoct a scenario that involves non-consensual anything.
  14. It's starting to become painfully obvious that callers are being fed their questions. The last two episodes I saw, nearly all the viewers got mangled in the wording of the question and several times Andy ended up stepping in and asking the question himself. Why not just skip the dumbass games and focus on Andy asking questions?
  15. Given the showrunner's history of wacky storylines, if we did see Anne as a wife and mother, I have no doubt she'd be juggling some side business like an illegal speakeasy and the escalating competition between her and Jake Griffiths while Rilla secretly battles an addiction to raspberry cordial and smoking in the outhouse with one of the Pyes.
  16. I have a different reaction to remakes. While I'd agree that most are poorly conceived, I'm not at all opposed to what I think is the general idea of a remake: To examine a well-known story thru a different lens and find new dimensions that were previously unexplored. As a kid I loved this book called "The True Story of the Three Little Pigs." It took a story that everyone was familiar with and flipped it on its head, telling the story from the wolf's POV. It didn't diminish my affection for a childhood story, it just gave me a different way of looking at the world, and ultimately I think that's what a well done remake can do. I'd much rather a remake try and flip my expectations in new and surprising ways, especially when the source material has been translated to screen multiple times. Don't get me wrong, I love tried-and-true faithful adaptations as well, but I'm not opposed to a reimagining just because it doesn't conform to my original understanding of the canon. Sometimes even a straight remake can fall woefully short. Like that Gus Van Sant shot-for-shot remake of Psycho. I'll take Bates Motel instead. Besides, if I want the exact plot from the Anne books, I'd just go read the books again.
  17. I'm withholding judgment for the time being since I thought they got more right than wrong in the first season, even with the changes, but yeah... The mugging con men thing was more of a left turn than I thought the show needed. I'm supportive of most of the other alterations this version has made, since they've more or less served the canonical characters and helped flesh out their stories. But the con men feels like a completely different universe, so I'm hoping they don't linger on it for too long.
  18. I say this as someone who loved the first Kevin Sullivan movie, liked the second, and pretends the rest of his films don't exist: It took me three episodes to really appreciate just how wonderful this version is, and five episodes to realize Jasper Dale is playing Matthew Cuthbert. The first two were rather morose, but I think the show really finds its footing in the subsequent episodes. And I really appreciate how it's fleshed out a lot storylines with a modern eye but still feels in keeping with the spirit of the original novels.
  19. That's because WWHL is on after bedtime for most of the men Andy would consider hot.
  20. Just wanted to chime in on the Diane Lane love. There was something so endearingly awkward about her appearance. She was trying really hard to be a game player and be candid, but she kept tripping over her rambling thoughts. Her response to "best onscreen kiss" was weird yet charming to hear her completely miss the actual question and instead prattle on about how much she loved the kiss in Top Gun. It never felt like she was intentionally trying evade the question, just that her mouth had trouble expressing everything going thru her head. It was a refreshing contrast to the super slick appearances of someone like Anne Hathaway's pageant patty answers.
  21. It was nice seeing Alex again. I always had a soft spot for her confrontation hives and general awkwardness, especially given how all the other women looked down on her. That being said, she was totally lying when she claimed not to have watched the show at all (save for the last two episodes) since her departure. She used to recap the damn show on YouTube! And it was convenient that she knew the Johnny Depp pirate and Harry Dubin despite allegedly not watching the show... I think she and Simon would totally jump at an opportunity to join the show again as HWs if given the offer. Simon in particular would love to hold that apple.
  22. I always give a side eye to a HW who demands to be the sole guest on the show.
  23. Gosh, Anne Hathaway was straining so hard to be congenial and inoffensive. Which ended up making her appearance kind of offensive. Everything she said was so sanitized, she came across as a total phony. I've never had a particular dislike of Anne, but this was just uncomfortable and painful to watch.
  24. Or, like many viewers, Erika has two eyes and two ears, and she saw the show before coming on and saw through Lisa's tactics the way a lot of others do. I pretty much assume any HW is lying when they say they haven't seen the show prior to filming (don't recall if Erika said that, but if she did, I don't believe it for a second.) Actually, I take that back. I completely believe Kelly Bensimon hadn't seen a damn clip of the show before joining RHONY. Erika inviting Eileen was pretty low on the list of HW offenses as far as I'm concerned. Lisa and Erika clearly don't care for one another, yet seem to have this unspoken truce/roundabout way of going after each other instead of directly getting in their jabs. It was refreshing to finally see one of them be directly shady to the other. Judging by that upcoming clip of Erika crying, "that's not fair, Lisa," I suspect Vanderpump gets her revenge anyway.
  25. Dorit should be thanking her lucky stars Eden seems to be so utterly unpopular with the rest of the HWs (sans Vanderpump). Otherwise, I think Dorit wouldn't stand a chance in hell of getting a second season. But I think the leaden reaction to Eden's attempts at creating drama, and the fact that everyone seems to call out Eden's thirstiness bodes well for Dorit to survive the axe.
