Really, Sidwell? The wimmins aren't going to play poker for their lives? Well, now you can die and I won't care. How about we "reset the terms" of this stupid story so it's over and Lucky is in Port Charles tomorrow. It was good, but I really wish they'd stop having Tracy be so rude just because she's feeling vulnerable. And really, continuing to call Cody her "stablehand"? It's so dismissive. So depressing to watch Cody confide in a 9-year-old. But great to watch said 9-year-old tell Ned about Willow and Drew kissing.

America's Test Kitchen - General Discussion

Erica also has something of a kindergarten teacher voice, and that always drives me nuts. I'm not 5 years old—talk to me like I'm an adult. -
It also echoes Franco and Elizabeth. It's so gross. Seriously. Kill them all, Sidwell! They're too stupid to live. Which at this point is completely moot. I don't understand why people keep harping on this. IT WON'T EVER HAPPEN. Gah. Yet. There's still time for that.

Carly calling Lulu "cuz" really grates. I am really enjoying everyone calling out the absurdity of Carly and Sonny supposedly getting it on. I hope Sam has time to talk to Martin about her suspicions, because no one should believe Carly and Sonny would give it another go, let alone sleep in Tracy's bed at the Q mansion. Especially during a party! Everything about the alibi is ridiculous. (Too bad Sam is getting to push Carly so hard only because Sam will die soon. It's a variation of a Stanvil, sigh.) This story is SO TEDIOUS. If only the show would finally use a coma for good and have Lulu come to and remember all of this, freeing Alexis and screwing over Carly and Sonny. Jordan, why does it matter what Kristina might have done with the baby? It won't ever happen now. Shouldn't Alexis be paying Martin? She has the money to do it, and there's no reason for her not to. Sonny telling Martin to represent her doesn't make Martin beholden to him.

So glad to hear things are going well for you, @GHScorpiosRule!

Because it looks too convenient that they just happened to give each other alibis on the night they were both at the Q mansion where Cates was murdered. I don't think that's wrong, necessarily, but Diane is supposed to be an amazing lawyer, and she should be able to crush this idea with minimal effort. It's such a stupid plot point. Same. She knows who Carly is and tries to stay consistent with that, even when the writing doesn't. (There's no way I believe Carly would allow herself to be implicated in the murder of a federal agent, just because Sonny is an infant with no impulse control.) Sonny is a coward.

I can't with Sonny and noted bigot Natalia "flirting" over a janky espresso machine. I can't with their "flirting" in general. Ugh. Kristina, don't talk to Chase without a lawyer present! And then she lies, again. She deserves whatever legal action happens when she's being that idiotic. I cannot with the galactic stupidity for plot purposes. "Detective Chase is a skilled interrogator, that's for sure." Especially when Kristina does his job for him. So weird to hear Martin without his accent. I wish MEK had been able to gradually get rid of it, the way JJY did with Mac's atrocious Australian accent. It does crack me up that suddenly GH is all accent-averse, when in the '80s and '90s it seemed as if everyone had one.

Why not both? Whether there was sexual abuse we'll never know, but the parents were abusive emotionally and physically, for sure. It doesn't surprise me that the sons would feel entitled to any financial windfall they'd get if their parents died. Everyone in this family was so messed up in so many ways. That was Vicki Lawrence! (I think her character had a heart attack.)

I think that's who Brennan is supposed to be. The actor holds his own with LW, at least. But he's pointless, as too much of the cast is. A shame, as I like Charles Mesure.

Ugh, poor Ric, getting stuck with that block of wood.

That interview is hilarious. Portia was wrong to tamper with the lab results, full stop. We might understand why she did it, but no matter how justified she felt, it was wrong and possibly illegal. LOL at "stunning move." As soon as the results showed there was no change in Heather's cobalt levels, it was so obvious Portia had meddled.

TR sounded much stronger of voice today. I wonder if he had a chest issue earlier that made him sound so wobbly. Shouldn't Violet be helping BL make brownies for her school's bake sale? She's old enough. Sheesh. "I'm not tying myself to Sonny forever." You have kids with that bozo, Carly, so that train has sailed. LOL at Trina's skepticism about Heather's test results. Wow, Steven Lars is out of prison and settled in Sedona. How about an update on Matt Hunter? I'm pretty sure we're supposed to think Carly is right and Joss is being unreasonable, because she doesn't know all of the facts. Ugh. What is the relationship between TJ and Curtis? They never mention it. /s

Yeah, it would help if her stupid capers had a goal other than enriching her own bank account. At least let her be ripping people off for war orphans or something.

What a pfft of an ending. The mystery wasn't all that strong in the first place, IMO. I also don't like what's going on with Hendrik. That stupid trope of hiding an illness drives me nuts. Just tell everyone what's going on and deal with it. Gah.

Don't forget the third option: Lurking around town for weeks on end before deciding to reveal themselves. I don't mind a bit of foreplay, as it were, but endlessly dragging out a return really kills the momentum and excitement, IMO. Most viewers these days aren't going to be surprised when a character returns, so just get on with it.

America's Test Kitchen - General Discussion

My favorite homemade cake recipe uses unsweetened chocolate, butter, and milk, and it's very chocolatey. I wonder if the preservatives or something else in the cake mixes affect the flavor when dairy is used? My mom once had a Betty Crocker chocolate box in the pantry, and I made it to use it, and the cake was terrible, even with homemade frosting. The cake had no flavor and the crumb was too coarse. I had no nostalgia for it the way Bridget and Julia did. One box mix I can never get right is a white cake. I have never been able to get layers that have any sort of rise. My best friend and I did a lot of baking together when we were in junior hight and high school, and my ineptness with white cake is still a joke between us. -

It was very funny that Chris had been Kremlin'd out of the show. I'm sure that's due to the lawsuits and all of the legal action. Julia was kind of crowing about how diverse the test kitchen has become, but I think there are still too many white cooks on-camera. It was fun to see the hosts on their first/early appearances. I remember Becky's first time, and I really disliked her for a while. Now she's one of my favorite cooks. She really found her groove. I'm a little bummed we didn't get any bloopers. There have to be some hilarious ones. -
For one thing, they can't decide if he's going to be in a triangle with Joss/Dex or be Trina's new boyfriend. But, but, but...there's no man more generous than Sonny! She's BL's mom, so that makes her family, IMO. That doesn't mean she has to insert herself into every Q affair, though. I've been across footbridges over the Delaware River that if I fell off I'd be done. That's because you weren't on the Pennsylvania side.

That's Mark Teschner.

I forgot to mention how satisfying it was to see Michael get shut down by both Ned and Drew when it comes to business. And she's messing with Heather's blood tests. What an unpleasant woman. Poor Brook Kerr.
-
"I have some plans for our family...." Curtis, have you shared those plans with your wife? And Portia didn't ask. Ugh, those two are such nimrods. I'm so bored watching poker games. LOL that Anna tells Jason to do what Sam would do if he's stuck in a game. No one wants his boobs in their face, Anna. Ric doesn't have to be pushy to set up a triangle. Elizabeth isn't interested (and hasn't been since he returned), and Lucky isn't even in Port Charles yet. Hey, Gio, shut up. You interrupted a conversation you have no place in.

Rick Blaine's jacket was much better fitted. Wardrobe must have been taking a day off when SBu got that monstrosity he was wearing. He looks so terrible in it.
-
I had to laugh at Jordan's Debbie Downer attitude to Joss when telling her it might take some time to find Lucky—fingers crossed Lulu can hold on that long! Free meals for Isaiah are one thing, but Jordan accepting free food could be seen as a bribe. She's a public official! Of course Isaiah is a transplant surgeon. If the doctor isn't the perfect match, they're completely unsuitable yet somehow able to do what's medically necessary. Jason's tuxedo/dinner jacket is extremely poorly fitted. Which I guess makes sense, since he probably found it somewhere along the way. Has he learned nothing from his boss? Say what you will about the man, but Sonny is always immaculately tailored. Why is Ric so aggressively pursuing Elizabeth even as she says no? What is wrong with this show? Franco went after her in the creepiest ways and it was never properly acknowledged. And now Ric keeps pushing to have a relationship with Elizabeth when she's been very clear she's not interested. I want need Rocco and Danny in a scene together so I can tell them apart, LOL.

LW knows where her bread is buttered, so she's going to be a team player until the end. I don't mean that as a criticism—she's been successful in soaps for decades, and that's not an easy thing to do, especially these days. I think she sometimes overdoes it—for a while there she was saying things like "We rule!" in the press about Sonny/Carly/Jason—but she never gives less than 100 percent, which is more than we can say for her main male costars.
-
The original idea was that the hip replacement gave her cobalt poisoning, so if the level is unchanged after its removal—as the GH test showed—it wasn't the replacement that poisoned her. That can't be used as an excuse for her behavior. It doesn't explain the cobalt poisoning in the first place, but since the "old" hip was 20 years old or something like that, Heather's actions during that time can't be blamed on a tainted hip. You can't think too deeply about it, because neither outcome makes sense. Both Ric and Scott were approaching the lawsuit from a product liability angle, and if the first hip wasn't tainted, there is no case. Which is what Ric told Heather. There are police divers, but they aren't at the expert level of Sam. *rme* Chain of evidence? We don't need no stinkin' chain of evidence.
