  1. I cam into the show wanting to be Team Regina, and hoping for a show that would take 'good' and 'evil' characters and push them into the middle. I have been so disappointed, and tonight might have broken me. I have hand waved a lot of Regina/Evil Queen's stuff. I can't hand wave forgetting someone in a basement cell for a couple years while you're having your redemption arc. That's beyond fucked up. My hand waving wrist is broken. Not to mention the follow up of her remembering when she decided to off someone. If i can't have a cohesive move for Regina from black to grey, then i just give up. And yes, the Fantasia hat? I felt despair well in my chest. The very few withered hopes that this was a show with some sort of theme/message-based purpose died on the vine, and i accept it's just 100% "squeeze in as many disney references as we can" drivel. I'm so sad.
  2. I'm a real lawyer too, and i just don't care. I like whacko lawyer shows. As per usual i'd say the most 'ridiculous' bit was how easily they got the video into evidence. I wish every day it was that easy. No foundation laying, just 'i'm going to play this video now. Trials would be shorter and juries would be less bored. Also, as per usual with law and order type shows, the idea that she was retained a couple weeks ago and now it's time for trial is pretty silly. Real life it would peobably be in processing for 9 months. But whatever. "The wheels of justice grind slow" does not make for good TV.
  3. Way this episode could have been 100x better: Joe: "the dome is freezing! I'm going to touch it with my tongue and see what happens!" I don't feel like 'this' was really about Big Jim acting without regard to what anyone else wants - i feel like it was about him acting with total disregard to logic and zero information about what might happen in chucking a magical egg into a magical portal. Seriously, what was wrong with Barbie and Julia's plan? Is Jim so afraid of all the town's people getting out because he's afraid of being arrested for murder or something?? I was SO worried that Julia was going to have amnesia after the ambulance accident! Maybe she's have permanent short-term memory loss and every day when she woke up Barbie would have to explain their great love and why they live in a dome
  4. She did well partnered with Stella for the twisted tree challenge, i think they were probably pretty like-minded on their direction on that one. It seems to be when she has partners who think too differently from her, she just lets herself get washed away. Man though, when she was having her "it's not pretty" whine fest, and the guy was like "you want to do something pretty?" and she was like "No. It's creepy" - i was like "now you're just being a petulant brat!" God that was annoying
  5. This shouldn't have irritated at me, but when Big J was writing his notes i was like "you don't have to rip each page off, ahole - the rings at the top of the pad are so you can flip the pages. We only have one little dome town (okay 'dome town of variable size'), stop littering all over it" I'm soooooo disappointed we didn't get a triumphant Julia/Barbie reunion! The great several-week love story of our time!! Melanie's gone full on creepy. She doesn't trust Julia?? Scuse me, Julia is the monarch fool!! Or maybe Barbie is, i forget. But julia is definitely a REALLY VIRTUOUS PERSON! Go back in the lake Melanie, you don't know what you're talking about.
  6. Captain's wife is dead! Captain and doctor is on for season 2, i belieeeeeve! Sorry Tex. I don't know whether this show, The Lottery, or Under the Dome takes the cake for most whackadoodle but i can't stop watching any of them.
  7. Maczero, the post about suspecting pottinger was written on August 15th, so was speculation
  8. Shoot! Another hour is starting! I just finished my beer, i wasn't ready for more! I'm really mad at Amanda right now. Nolan might be stepping out with Berlin but it's clear where his loyalties lie. Amanda is completely buying horrible Pottinger's shtick. Doesn't even seem like she's playing a long con, just seems like she really digs his spying, memory-stealing, sister-impersonator-try-to-kill'ing self! So disappointing. Berlin- if i was her, i'd have moved away from the eyebrow melting goop pool WAY faster when it started to bubble up! Irisa seems to have drunk her own kookaid in a big way!
  9. Bailee Madison is getting typecast as a little life-ruiner these days isn't she? Callie and Regina on Once Upon a Time can start a club. I wish Callie had said "I WILL DESTROY YOUR HAPPINESS!" on the way out the door!
  10. The voice excusing the women from the party was so over the top it was laughable. "Goodnight, dear ones" - i can just imagine some writer being like "oh, creepy-soothing computer voices are super dystopian, let's definitely have one of those!"
  11. That's pretty much what I'm here for, and it's taking soooooo long! I wish the captain had gotten confirmation that his wife was toast in the first episode, so that he'd be well through the grieving process by now and ready for some end-of-the-world rebounding. Else I guess I'm going to have to wait til the crew if finally the last group of people standing, and captain and doctor have to do the sex to help repopulate the earth. That means I'm going to have to wait til season TWO probably!
  12. That ending was a little too crazy to be watching at 8:15 in the morning, before work! I really liked it. Defiance has been so much bolder this season than first season, every episode I find myself like "What the WHAT?!" I'm going to have to sit down and marathon all the S2 episodes (without my cellphone in my hand) to make sure I'm catching everything, as I'm so used to only paying 70% attention while watching summer shows, and I feel like I've missed some good moments.
  13. I hate it when a slow roll down a short slope ending with a low velocity tumble into a rock kills me.
  14. What are the odds that everyone in the cast is BEGGING for their character to be one of the 25% that has to be offed for the town to survive??? I wish they'd just go ahead and make this like the first ever "Choose your own adventure" show. Or host a twitter "madlibs" each week to determine what the plot will be next week.
  15. I interpreted "Jesus" the wrong way in both of these!
  16. Harlem Globetrotters: "We've been practicing in our underground arena for the last weeks, we just took an elevator up to the surface. What is HAPPENING AROUND HERE??" But they'll show up JUST in the nick of time to throw the, uh, magnetic field distorter made out of duck tape, mechanical pencils, and Barbie's chest hair right through the very tiny opening in the, uh, sonic converter that has to be, uh, suspended from the church steeple to align with the migratory patterns of the butterflies. So it'll be a miracle.
  17. Dwight Yoakum has been in Chester's Mill this whole time?!?
  18. I was really relieved when Barbie made fun of Big Jim's line about how "The Dome is testing me..." or something -- I really thought that was going to be a serious bit of dialogue, but at least when scientist lady was like "What's he talking about?" Barbie replied "Himself - haven't you noticed his hero complex" or something to that effect. Still, there were loads of other hilarious lines which were 100% not reacted to, many of which people have already brought up. Seriously "I'm worried he's bottling up his feelings", wow!
  19. I'm really enjoying Defiance this season. I feel like it's really growing bolder from season 1, and that's something I appreciate. I'm really pleased -- can already tell I'm going to be bummed when this season ends!
  20. Is someone on this show a big fan of broadway stars? Between Laura Benanti and Donna Murphy, I really appreciate the way RP is employing stage stars
  21. I love watching this show, it's just so free of all rules or logic, it's really liberating. I think it'd be great fun if they had some sort of twitter contest where people could submit their ideas for most outlandish contrived plot-points, and the winners would be incorporated on the show. I'm sorry that they didn't go the belt buckle magnetized route -- I love the idea of everyone having to run around in their boxer shorts, and all the buildings in town being destroyed. How come only some buildings were destroyed? I think I missed some subtle detail about the reach of the dome's magnetic pulling. Linda being like "Come to me, Jim... Come to me..." So creepy. She looked nice with her hair down though.
  22. Regarding the dogs, it seemed to me like ole Dudley was having some internal conflict about leaving the feral life and returning to the world... I really think Chief could have reached him.
  23. I sort of feel like this show could be entirely replaced with the cast of Battlestar Galactica and be about the same.
  24. Oh, one more thought -- As much as I hate Layla, I really like Aubrey Peeples' voice. It looks like "Tell Me" was performed and is one of the bonus tracks on the "On the Record" CD. I'm sorry we didn't get to see it! The other bonus track is "Believing" with Charles Esten and songwriter Kate York, which also sounds really nice
  25. Cranberry, I agree about Will Chase, which really surprised me. At least in that first song with the boys, "It's On Tonight". It's not so much that I thought he sounded bad (although the first line seemed a little strained to me) but all his laughing made me think of myself when I'm doing karaoke and feel ridiculous. Charles Esten seemed really comfortable, and Chris Carmack was like "Just another day at the office, I'm not sweatin' anything"
