  1. I found myself struggling most with how to deal with the counselor. He seemed like a decent guy, and at times during his meeting with Hannah was hitting the right beats, but something about the whole "well if you're not going to tell me who did it your only other option might be to move on" exchange left a bad taste in my mouth. I can definitely understand why he didn't acknowledge that final convo to anyone after Hannah's death, because what a massive failure of seeing-the-signs. I found myself liking the guy throughout the series, maybe because i like the actor, but that final interaction with Hannah really disturbed me. Early on, maybe during the episode where she meets Jessica, she makes a passing comment about it being too bad that the lady counselor left. I did get the vibe that that lady, much as the girls were rolling their eyes at her, would have handled the final meeting witg Hannah with more empathy and alarm. I am happy to say that i know my high school guidance counselors would absolutely NOT have let that conversation end the way it did. I hope that most would not.
  2. Just binged it - i was barely paying attention to it the first few episodes, but got more interested around episode 6. When they transitioned to the travelers spending more time trying to integrate into their new identities i thought it really picked up. I'm just sorry there's not more to watch! Time to scour the listings for my next binge watch.
  3. I really enjoyed this episode, thought the scene where he came face to face with 'roaches' down in the hidey hole was great - and then was persuaded to let that knowledge go... but what the hell was with his dream-girl showing up at the end? I completely failed to understand her significance.
  4. I was annoyed as I was watching that he didn't just tell her what was happening, but I mulled it over while walking my dogs after viewing, and decided that Cole didn't tell her because he KNEW she'd be like "To hell with our happy life, we must fight the time war!" before pouring the red tea into him with a funnel if necessary, and he just didn't want to actually SEE how willing she would have been to undo their happy memories. I do wonder, though - if Cole had just played "chicken" with the red forest in 1959, would it have ultimately resolved itself when the Witness was stuck on the farm with his loving folks instead of heading to the future with him mom... And is Cassie still heading to whatever year to die and leave Cole the message - 2020 or whenever it is - and if she DOES that, wouldn't it seem that she IS in league with the Witness at that point, because it is that message that will set about the whole chain of events that leaves to conception of the Witness, and at the time it is left, presumably Cassie knows enough about what's going on to forestall it by just NOT leaving a message? It just makes my brain hurt when I think about it too hard. Anyhow, I don't post much here but have enjoyed reading everyone's comments this season -- 12 Monkeys is definitely one of my favorite shows, and I thought this was a great cap to the season, and I'm dreading the long wait til season 3. And I'm just TICKLED that Jones got a dog. I am, as always, way happier about the addition of a dog to this (or any) show than I am about the addition of a magic baby.
  5. I was impressed that they managed to arrest everyone involved with the case - girlfriend, wife, AND partner. Wahoo, everyone's guilty of something! Who the hell owns the ginseng now?!
  6. I found myself wishing that Colt would invite Daphne to go with him to volunteer at a homeless shelter or Habitat for Humanity or whatever he's into these days and they'd become like a little "decent happy people doing good things they enjoy" bubble on this show, and when Cash finally outstripps Layla on the crazy-track, which she's on pace to do, Daphne and Cash could be like "not interested in your problems Maddie, we're off to not be totally self-centered" I died when Maddie said "I love you, but i don't like you anymore" - was that DIRECTLY out of the Deacon/Rayna playbook?
  7. I am deeply ambivalent about this show, but i'm more engaged in the episodes as they go along. I liked last night's, and laughed as hard at Quentin accidentally grabbing Alice's boobs as i have at anything on the show.. The only complaint i had was the transition from Quentin and Alice getting thrown out in the cold to having sex/being foxes. I have to believe i missed a scene, because what i saw was them shivering outside the door to the compound before a commercial break, to them undressing inside/trotting around as foxes outside/maybe having sex outside.
  8. I am 97% sure in the early scene where they're at the crime scene, Sherlock says "I count three blood splatters, two victims, one knife". Everyone knows it's "blood spatter", Sherlock. Yeesh.
  9. I was scheduling the recording for this one and saw that earlier in the day, the channel is airing "Signed Sealed Delivered: The Impossible Dream" - i never heard of this one, was it an unaired movie or something?? Anyways, that's two new SSD movies for me in one day, i am happy happy happy! ETA: i tracked it down - worth watching for anyone, like me, who missed it whenever it aired - it's the follow up to the story about the missing soldier mom, with sweet grandfatherly Cigarette Smoking Man. Double ETA: It's raining on my face. Can't wait for next sunday!
  10. I appreciate the Britta Perry references in this thread, because when i just read the episode title my first thought waa "Damn, that sounds like it could be the title of a very entertaining episode of Community" I liked this episode more than the first two, but agree with the criticisms here. Alice's total disregard for the disastrous consequences of her efforts to do advanced magic made her completely unsympathetic to me. If i were Quentin, i'd be reporting her to staff - but i'm a pretty level headed and responsible human being.
  11. Joining the ranks of Winn supporters -- It bugs me that people who feel like he was acting 'entited' to date her also feel like Kara is, upon rejecting his advances, 'entitled' to have their relationship back exactly as it was before... As though him wanting a little space or perhaps needing to alter their relationship given their unequal feelings is an expression of some sort of passive aggressive symptom of male-entitlement. Maybe he's just not prepared to go back to being her hair-braiding BFF confidant. That's okay. He's no more required to fill a role in her life that he can't than she is to fill one in his that she can't. They're both people, they both have the right to determine bounds of their relationship that they can live with. Sheesh. It's not like he was overtly hostile to her, he just didn't want to make chummy small talk at the elevator as though nothing had happened between them, which is what it seemed she was trying to do. I hope some episode soon that he does something to help her, even if he's still not being super pal-aroundish with her, like she's in trouble and he creates a diversion or something. That would be a great signal that even though they're not necessarily on great terms, he still cares about her and that won't change.
  12. I don't have a problem buying her as 26. Of course, the show wasn't available On Demand in HD. Standard Def is very forgiving.
  13. Just FYI - Shrek the Musical is on Netflix, and Sutton is the best part of it. I watched it a couple weekends ago and was so overwhelmed by the girl-crush i have on her that i googled her and found out Younger existed, so here i am! If you're a fan, i definitely recommend giving it a watch. She is comedy gold on stage!
  14. Hey all! I watched the whole first season yesterday and followed up with the new eps (can't even tell you how happy i was to discover Sutton Foster has another show -- THANK YOU WORLD!) I thought there was a pretty noticeable dumbing down of Josh in the season 2 episodes - suddenly he turned into the version of Josh that Liza imagined back in season 1 after some chick he'd dated told her he was dumb as a box of rocks (she imagined him walking up to her asking what was the plural of ice) - it was not flattering for him. I hope they back off it. I'm not totally sold on them being "true love" but i don't want him to turn into an idiot to justify a break up. I do like her chemistry with Charles, i loved the moment in season 1 where he came home when she'd babysat for him and was so grateful for how good she'd been with his daughters. But i agree with the poster above, i can't get into it at the expense of Diana - remember when she taped the check to Liza's computer? That was a classy and kind move, and i'd rather see the women's relationship develop than see them as two corners in a love triangle. The daughter is the worst. I believe in the first episode she was said to be spending her final year of high school in India. She can spend all four years of college there as well, far as i'm concerned. Liza having an 'adult' daughter does bring an interesting element to the masquerade, but the less time the show spends with Caitlin, the happier i'll be! Overall, i really like the show! It's less sit-com than i was expecting, and they pack a lot into the 22 minute episodes. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season!
  15. Tip of the hat, Minority Report. You were the victim of a world that doesn't give shows much time to find their footing. I enjoyed the 10 episodes we got.
  16. Ex is Audrey Peebles, i believe, of Nashville and Jem fame (or notoriety)
  17. Sure, of course main girl and rehab love interest are both kung fu movie fans. What a fun and quirky trait.
  18. This show is ridiculous - the zany fun caricatures that populate the rehab place are insulting to actual addicts. I'm actually not getting any sense that the main character is, in fact, an alcoholic. They showed it, but i'm just not feeling it. A 25 year old counselor being in charge of the place seems absurd somehow. It is the ultimate ABC Family (SOON TO BE FREEFORM, y'all!) piece-of-fluff offering. I can already see all the melodrama-writing on the wall that usually sinks their shows by season 2. All that said, i'm off to watch episode 2 - because i have a problem, and it's silly tv shows.
  19. Wow. They really squeezed a lot into the last 25 minutes. I'm bomfoggled. It wasn't perfect, but it was certainly interesting. Well done, Syfy.
  20. "No guy just *texts* with a woman that he doesn't want to sleep with" - Good lord, Deacon.
  21. Shallow thought of the episode - when they don't grease Jeff's hair he instantly looks 150% less like a villain. During his scene in bed talking to Layla, i almost found him endearing!
  22. Anytime in my life where i'm like "have i finally hit bottom?" I'll be able to look at Juliette Barnes and be like "Naaaaaah!", so thanks, Nashville, for delaying my recovery forever!
  23. "my name is Dawn" - of effin course it is. What else would an alien queen be named? I guess it's classier than Amethyst "Didn't it ever occur to you that the reason you hallucinated the life you sid in the coccoon was so your darkness could get passed on to me...." NO IT DID NOT! Because that makes no sense! I really wish they'd let 'fans' write the finale. I think we could have really written something special
  24. If i were Molly, getting the message from John via Ethan about needing to get a humanity-saving crystal from Nicholas Calderon, i'd have seriously been like "I AM TOO BUSY RIGHT NOW! SOMEONE ELSE WILL HAVE TO TAKE THIS HUMANITY-SAVING PLOT ABOUT THE KILLER ROBOTS!" I mean good god, it hardly seems fair that Molly should be solely responsible for saving humanity from EVERY threat, all at the same time
  25. Julia seriously had no problem fast-peddling bullshit about how the dome works - Nori is like "if this stuff really is like an infection we should go get joe so he can be cured..." And Julia's like "nah. He's fine" and Nori's like "but Sam relapsed" and Julia replies "But Joe is strong (and vaccines cause autism :snark:)" I'm not saying she's wrong to doubt the good intentions of Actaeon, but she also has no reason to think she has any idea what'll permanently cure these coccoon folk. I haven't finished the episode yet, but i'll be super disappointed if they don't ultimately get their DNa sample for Christine off of Junior's, um, nether bits.
