Erin and Chad: Fifty Shades of Pink
BitterApple replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Bringing Up Bates
Dammit, I have to run errands, but I'm dying to see this video. Everyone on Reddit was talking about how weird they were acting as well. -
Carlin and Evan: But Mostly Carlin!
BitterApple replied to PrincessPurrsALot's topic in Bringing Up Bates
Influencers use this tactic. Disappear for no reason. Create worry and buzz among their fans. Accumulate enough comments asking if everything's okay. Release new YT video with Carlin looking distraught in the thumbnail. Click bait title like "Scariest Moment Of Our Lives" or "We're Leaving" only for the content to be some nonsense like they had a plumbing leak or they canceled their Hulu subscription. They've used this playbook before. -
Lawson and Tiffany: Warbling His Way Into Her Heart

He. Is. So. Bad. I don't think Lawson could get hired as a lounge singer on a third rate cruise ship. -
Josie and Kelton: They Have Employable Skills
BitterApple replied to PrincessPurrsALot's topic in Bringing Up Bates
It's funny you mention Zoey and Rhett, because Allie is displaying similar behaviors. Calling Rhett her baby, chasing after him in the library, being the obedient little helper. Those girls have clearly learned to read the room. If they want a glance from Mom, Rhett is their ticket. I happened to watch a YouTube therapy video today where the woman talked about how narcissist parents tend to shun same-gender children while putting children of the opposite sex on a pedestal. She then said how the children treated like crap end up on an unfortunate hamster wheel of continually jockeying for their parent's approval. She might as well have named Alyssa outright considering how accurately she described the Webster household. With Josie? Time will tell. She is extremely media savvy. She has a carefully created image that sends out the right Conservative dog whistles but doesn't reveal enough to turn off a mainstream audience. You have to do a pretty deep dive to locate the nefarious beliefs. The difference I see with Josie however is (unlike Alyssa) I think she genuinely enjoys being a mom. She and Kelton like being around their kids, as opposed to John and Alyssa, who flat-out admitted they put them to bed as early as possible to get them out of their hair. A happier home environment means everyone is treated better overall. -
Alyssa and John: Lunch with Lurch
BitterApple replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Bringing Up Bates
I just watched the video. I predict John won't last a month working from home. He had to take care of his kids for a whooping three days and seemed totally over it eight hours in. When the video started, I was laughing at Alyssa telling her audience how tough it is to leave John and the girls. She couldn't get out of there fast enough. That was the happiest and most animated I've seen her in months. I will say, the bond she has with Bill and Jane is very sweet, and that was nice of her to clean the entire house. I'm sorry to say that Bill isn't looking too good. I don't know if they have a visiting nurse or what, but I'm surprised they haven't had to move him to a care home, especially with his worsening dementia. -

BSB is a little late to the party with the bubblegum pink Barbie-core dresses. That aesthetic was so last summer. -
I agree with all of the above. I think the biggest shock for Travis will be to see Hailey going from pampered, adored granddaughter/niece to just another face in the horde. Their most recent stories featured Mr. Clark and Uncle Mike playing with Hailey. In both videos you can see a real bond between the men and the baby. Good luck replicating that in TN. Nobody is going to dote on Hailey because guess what, there's a bazillion grandkids already and two or three Bates women pregnant at any given time. As problematic as the Clark family is, I do believe they're genuinely close. With the Bates, I think their 'close' is only surface level. Sure, everybody gathers to yuk it up for ILYD, but nobody's dropping their plans to help a sister who had heart surgery or another suffering from seizures. It's always the in-laws stepping up. In that sense, maybe this move will be an eye-opener for Katie. She may eventually realize her bread is buttered in NJ, not TN.

Why does Lawson look like a guy who was forced to take his cousin to prom? I wish TiffyPics well. -

Don't forget Katie. She was seeing a specialist throughout her entire pregnancy, had postpartum issues and then the kidney stones. I can't remember if Tori has the clotting disorder or not, but these women are putting their bodies through so much stress. I hate to think how it's going through catch up to them once they hit middle age. -

It sounds to me like the site has new moderators who are on a power trip. It said the thread titles are discriminatory, which is absurd. -

Ha ha, it'll be interesting to see how many siblings are suddenly Carlin's bestie. Pools always bring the freeloaders to the yard. Did they say whether they're doing an above ground or in-ground? -

I don't know if any of you lurk the Bates sub-Reddit, but someone wrote a hilarious recap of Bates goings-ons of the past week. I put it in small talk because it features most of the marrieds and I didn't want to jumble the individual threads. Anyways, if you need a good laugh: https://www.reddit.com/r/BringingUpBates/comments/1b5jdz9/thoughtsquestions_on_this_week_in_bates_world/ -
Lawson and Tiffany: Warbling His Way Into Her Heart
BitterApple replied to PrincessPurrsALot's topic in Bringing Up Bates
Maybe this is their way of transitioning Lawson out of a singing career without admitting he failed? Tiff's ultimate goal could be to RV her way back to California permanently. She could audition for Hallmark movies and Lawson could restart his landscaping business. -
Alyssa and John: Lunch with Lurch
BitterApple replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Bringing Up Bates
I agree that working from home is going to be a disaster. If anything I think it'll make Alyssa more resentful. I think she's figuring it'll be a Zach/Whit or Carlin/Evan situation where John will dabble for a few hours, then be free to deal with the kids. She's gonna be real pissed when she wants help and John can't because he's on a zoom call or he's busy with other stuff. And assuming this is a serious role, I think John will get annoyed with the inevitable disruptions and noise that come from a houseful of small children. -
Because then they'd be right back at square one with Katie whining and crying about how much she misses her family. I can also see Evan in Travis' ear like, "It's no biggie, we make the drive all the time," conveniently leaving out that he and Carlin camp out for a six day clip, not a quick turnaround. With regards to YouTube, I'd be shocked if they follow through. Child exploitation is currently their biggest moneymaker. Hell, the majority of people on the Bates subReddit thought better content was driving the move in the first place. Not to mention, their overhead is increasing. They've got rent, studio costs and hotels if Travis has to stay over plus taxes and upkeep on the NJ house. I'm not sure Katie can shill enough Dime Beauty for them to live off Influencing alone. Travis could presumably ask to stay at Lawson's, but my Spidey Senses tell me LawDog's ego can't handle a better singer honing in on his turf. I can see him being petty a/f. Katie said in one of their Q&A's that it upset her when fast food workers flirted with Travis at the drive-thru, so she definitely seems to struggle with jealousy and self-esteem. FWIW, I highly doubt these girls were making a play for her husband. It was probably just benign small talk that Katie misread due to her immaturity and lack of relationship experience.

I'm dubious as to how much music Travis will be doing. I'm not saying he doesn't have the talent to make a go of it, but a six-hour round trip commute for a guy used to having a home studio is going to get old fast. Even twice a week it would be tiring, especially if Katie insists on tagging along. It wouldn't surprise me if he starts off gung-ho and then it eventually dwindles down as Travis realizes he'd rather be in Starbucks with Evan than sitting in traffic.

Are they ditching Remi? An apartment doesn't sound like an ideal setup for a Goldendoodle.

Carlin and Evan: But Mostly Carlin!
BitterApple replied to PrincessPurrsALot's topic in Bringing Up Bates
It's actually not a bad idea. Katie's social media is rapidly gaining followers. I think she just surpassed Carlin in YouTube subscribers, so she might boost sales. If she does photoshoots with adorable, photogenic Hailey, ka-ching $$$! The downside is two more lazy, immature idiots are brought into the fold, but if it's good for the bottom line, Zach and Whit might not object. -
Alyssa and John: Lunch with Lurch

It was bad enough when they did the joint party for Allie and Zoey, where Allie got shoved aside, but now they can't even be bothered with that? They're lumping all the girls together even though the birthdays are spread out over three months? And Rhett gets a solo party he won't even remember? They really don't give a crap about those girls at all. If throwing big parties for each kid isn't affordable or it's too overwhelming, why not have small family celebrations at home? That's what Zach and Whit do. You can buy balloons and party supplies at Dollar Tree. Order pizza, throw hamburgers on the grill, make a cake from box mix. Alyssa could certainly dip into her eyelash extension budget to swing that. I think that would be much more meaningful to a kid than making them celebrate way before or after the fact. -
Carlin and Evan: But Mostly Carlin!
BitterApple replied to PrincessPurrsALot's topic in Bringing Up Bates
Does anyone recall, why did Evan sign up for trade school if he had no plans of working in the field? If he wanted to do editing/filming/media why not go to school for that from the get-go? -
Alyssa and John: Lunch with Lurch
BitterApple replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Bringing Up Bates
Alyssa's posted reels of her and the kids walking in their neighborhood, so I think it's something they do pretty frequently. To clarify my comment, I didn't mean that Alyssa looks puffy due to weight gain, but rather that she looks unwell. To me, she doesn't come across like she's in a good place physically or emotionally. -

I noticed that too. Alyssa looks swollen in the face, like she's retaining a lot of fluid. I don't know if she's still being monitored by her heart doctor, but hopefully she doesn't ignore any issues. With regards to Allie, I think the only time the poor kid gets any positive attention is when she makes life easier for her parents. I assume she's the one watching the rest of the kids while Alyssa works out. -

I like the name Miles, although it came out of left field. It doesn't seem like something Josie would pick. -

I agree the whole thing feels off. Did she ever get a diagnosis?
