Carlin and Evan: But Mostly Carlin!

They've officially lost their minds. -
I wonder if they should've just bit the bullet and recast Natalie? Killing the character off really torpedoed the adult timeline.

I like the Personal Finance and Poverty Finance subs. Even if you're doing okay money-wise, the Poverty Finance has great tips if you're trying to save, stretch your dollars or cut back on spending. -
Me too. I hate that the adult characters made it a point to reiterate they can't remember the Wilderness. It feels like a ploy to give the writers a lifeline. If they can't figure out a way to wrap up the story, they'll just retcon everything and chalk it up to unreliable narration. I particularly don't buy it in Teen Shauna's case because she loves being out there. Why would she repress memories of her glory days? If anything she'd want to relive them in her mind, given she got stuck with the boring life she never wanted.

Yellowjackets is one of those shows where I've hated some of the episodes when they premiered, but they grew on me during a rewatch. I don't know how much time has passed since the researchers found them, but I'm curious as to how long it will be between Nat making the call and the first rescue team showing up. It seems like a pretty small window for Akilah/Hannah/Gen/Robin/Other to die. However I have to think Robin/Other don't make it out of the woods because the writers have done nothing to develop their characters. I'm half expecting them to die offscreen and we get a throwaway line about it when S4 premieres.

I just had an interesting thought. As much as it sucks that Mari died, Shauna screwing up the card draw may have been a blessing in disguise. Hannah doesn't know the woods like the girls do, and likely isn't as athletic. If she'd drawn the Queen as intended, the hunt wouldn't have lasted long enough for Nat to get away. Even if the other girls were running in circles, Shauna would've chased her down pretty quickly. I wonder why Lottie didn't just tell Mari, "Hey, there's a giant hole with spikes right in front of you," but I guess her philosophy has always been the wilderness will decide. She gave Mari an opening to question her further, Mari told her to eff off, and fate had the ultimate say.

I liked the finale and the title of Full Circle was so apropos. We got the Pit Girl and Antler Queen reveal, and Mari's journey truly was a full circle. She was the decoy in It Girl so her team could win the game and she was the decoy in the hunt so Nat could escape with the SatPhone. The writers did a great job throwing a cool twist into what was inevitably a predictable scene. The reality was a totally different context from what we assumed in the pilot. Misty wasn't smirking because her teammate died, she was gloating that they fooled Shauna. The girls weren't gleefully hunting their friend down, they were deliberately creating distractions to buy her time. Even Shauna being crowned AQ felt more like a bratty toddler being appeased than a true boss girl moment. Tai telling her to back off? Epic, and I predict we're going to get a totally different group dynamic in S4. In the adult timeline, I thought Shauna was going to finally take some accountability when she started writing that note, but nope, she's fully leaned into the villain arc. So game on. Now we know we can collectively wish for her to have the most awful death ever. And what was up with her telling Misty that Callie and Jeff wouldn't know how to call the phone company? She really thinks a tech savvy Gen Z teen wouldn't know how to cancel her phone number? Weird. I do have to eat my words though. I predicted they wouldn't use the phone to call for help and they did. Now I have to stew on how they're going to explain it to the rescuers. Bring on Season 4!

Between all their income streams, I can easily see them pulling in 20-25k a month. The criticism here isn't so much that they don't have money, but that they they're burning through it at an unsustainable rate. They do get a lot of freebies, but they also have a lot of expenses. Pricey cars, health insurance, mortgage, auto and homeowners insurance, etc., not to mention the little things that add up like daily Starbucks and restaurant meals, Target runs, nails, hair, golf, gas and so on. They don't give off the vibe that they're squirreling anything away for savings and retirement. Also, given that a large chunk of their livelihood is dependent on followers having disposable income, that might go down the drain now that the tariffs have kicked in. I participate in a finance sub Reddit and everyone is saying how they're limiting shopping and unnecessary expenses. Hopefully the Stews plan accordingly. -
Same for me. Outlander took so long to release S7, I forgot all the plot lines. Characters were randomly showing up and I'm like, "Who the heck are you?." I don't know why there's such lags between seasons nowadays.
-
And the irony is staying to clean up has now created an even bigger mess to clean up because many more are going to die.
-
Same. At this point the cannibalism has lost the shock value. The two background girls barely have any lines, so their deaths will be even more forgettable than Krystal's. We know Hannah dies, so the only two fates I'm invested in are Akilah and Mari. Gen, I don't care about either way. I should've said the bone clean-up, sorry. The bones would show cut and teeth marks. I'm assuming they'd have to get rid of them somehow in case the family members wanted remains.
-
I guess it's fun to speculate, but I agree with all the above. Pit Girl and Antler Queen were never meant to be big reveals. The former is either Gen, Robyn, Mari or Hannah and the latter could be anyone. The leadership role has changed multiple times since they crashed in the Wilderness. It's probably Shauna, given they don't have much time left in the woods. I'm actually more interested in the practical stuff. How do they do the body cleanup? How will they hash out their cover story and how the heck do they actually get rescued? In S1, Adult Tai and Adult Shauna imply that it's because of Natalie, so I'm excited to see that play out.

If she's halfway to halfway, that means her pregnancy is going to be 64 weeks long? And this woman has a college degree? -
I can't believe I didn't think of this before, but someone on Reddit made a great post about the transponder and SatPhone. It's unlikely the phone will be their ticket to rescue, because based on what Callie found in that article, the world doesn't know the scientists and the YJ's crossed paths. We already know they kill Hannah at some point, so even if they got it fixed, they'd have to explain how they came into possession of it but didn't meet the researchers. So I'm assuming they either don't fix it or they do but one of them breaks it, realizing it leads to questions they don't want to answer. If they don't get rescued in the finale, this show better get renewed because it'll drive me crazy not knowing. 😆

I think Trace got the watch, IIRC. -
People here seem to get it but I'm kind of gobsmacked others on different platforms see it as a sign of the wilderness protecting Lottie. No, it isn't. Travis simply tangled the branches in a way that created much sturdier webbing. We also don't know how far across the hole Lottie was standing. She could've been closer to the edge where her weight wouldn't cause that much strain on the sticks.

There was a $100 limit, but they could go over it if they wanted, which was kind of unfair. Not all of the siblings have money like that and nobody wants to be the one who gives modest gifts while everyone else is showing off expensive stuff. -

Carlin gave Josie a $500 pair of headphones for ILYD. The Stews are blowing through money like it's water. -
With regards to the draw, I wonder it will play out next episode. When they first did the card draw in S2, it was supposed to be a straightforward execution. It only turned into a hunt after Nat panicked and ran, with Javi dying in her place. So now that it's become a game of sorts, will they establish rules? Will it be like the season premiere, where the person whose 'it' can be declared the winner if they can make it to a designated spot? Or do they just chase until they wear out their prey then go in for the kill?
-
The only way I think they get around that is burying the bones miles from the crash site and saying animals dragged the dead bodies off. That means they'd eventually have to dig up Edwin and move him as well.
-
I imagine that will be the theme going forward. Nat totally broke when she realized their escape attempt failed and the snow started falling. I can see the Others following suit. They can't trust Hannah, she just killed their only shot at making a run for it. Since they don't have the willpower to dispose Shauna, there's nothing left to do but surrender. I did a rewatch tonight and I wonder if Callie will be the one who ends up killing her. She's clearly more bonded to Jeff and she looked so sad for him when he said being married to Shauna was lonely. Callie may figure it's the only way they can be free from Shauna's craziness. So I guess Van's hero arc was that she defeated Bad Tai? I suspect this whole thing is going to have a similar ending to Lost where the dead are in a holding pattern, waiting for the remaining adults to join them and they end up back in the Wilderness. Lottie was right that they were never meant to leave. It felt like Teen Van was alluding to that when she said surviving wasn't the reward, and also when Adult Van asked what happens if this wasn't the end during the death scene.

Let me guess, she linked the towel rack, table set and Disney accessories? I can't get over the dirt hill and the turf. That backyard is such an eyesore. -
Same. I was tired when I watched last night, so hopefully I'll like it more when I rerun it today. I thought I'd have more of a reaction to Van's death, but it didn't do anything for me. Van being killed by a teammate she hasn't seen for 20+ years, fell a little flat in terms of emotional impact. I would rather that she died of the cancer. And since I overthink the details, what the heck is Alex gonna think when she comes home to find blood smeared on the walls and a dead body on her floor? Unless she's in on it and Melissa has been lying from jump.
-
Yeah, it definitely feels like Shauna will play into the Wilderness stuff because it gives her an opportunity to exercise her cruelty and love of violence. She knows it's bullshit, but she won't care. So now four or five girls will die in less than two months because Travis and Nat didn't take her out in the last episode. Crazy.

I'm guessing we're getting Pit Girl in the finale?
