  1. HBO Max animated satirical comedy center on Prince George and the Royal Family created by Gary Janetti (Family Guy, Will & Grace, Vicious) who also voices Prince George. Other voice cast includes Frances La Tour (Queen Elizabeth), Dan Stevens (Prince Charles), Iwan Rheon (Prince William), Lucy Punch (Kate Middleton), Sophie Turner (Princess Charlotte), Paul Anderson (Prince Louis) Orlando Bloom (Prince Harry), Condola Rashad (Meghan Markles), Alan Cummings as Prince George's put upon valet Owen and Samuel Barrett as overwhelmed royal servant Douglas. A lot of negative press and comments about it as many don't find it fair for the series to lampoon a child. Actually, I think Janetti's actual Instagram pilloried George and the Royals more than the actual show did (he's pulled most, if not all of his IG posts about them). In The Prince George is a slightly less megalomanical Stewie Griffith. He's more concerned with social standing and social media engagements than taking over the world and matricide.
  2. I just loved the very on-point scene of Jamie being interviewed by Phil Schofield and Holly Willoughby. These first two episodes - while enjoyable -aren't exactly hitting it for me the way first season did. But it may just be an expectation thing. I'm sure by the time the season is over I'll be fully on board again. Just as I'm sure by the time the season is over Nate is going to be pulled to the carpet due to his power going to his head.
  3. Dwayne Johnson actually has more at stakes because he's a producer on the film and his production company also were involved with the production, so on two fronts he took a loss. But I don't think there is any universe where he would walk away without further compensation.
  4. I give them points for trying to make her appear selfish and greedy amid a pandemic, but the question is why they didn't renegotiate with her as her attorney claims. They said she received 20 million but that's, to my knowledge, is just her quote - it doesn't speak to the backend compensation she is entitle. I'm curious if Disney gave bumps to Emma Stone/Emma Thompson, Liu Yifei, Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt received extra compensation as "Cruella", "Mulan" and "The Jungle Cruise" received the same day and date treatment. Johnson is a savvy businessman with a great team behind him. I can't see a reality where he didn't receive further compensation.
  5. Disney should have negotiated with her, after all they changed the terms of their agreement. But to the source speculating that the move cost Scarjo $50 million, they can't be sure of that. Films underperform all the time and with other territories not completely open when the film was release, who's to say that the global take would have been much more or if they were open, if audiences would be interested in seeing the film.
  6. Likely about the same time this year. They've not begun shooting yet. I so liked the chemistry between the sister and the parent and I was rooting for them because Karen has always seemed cold on Scott. Series one it was almost as if she was just putting up with him, so the idea of her finding someone who wakes her up, I was sure they would end up together. But I guess it's a nice message that some people just have prickly or discordant personalities but it doesn't mean they're uncaring or not engaged in the relationship. A bit like series one where Jason's ex Jane played by Cush Jumbo lamented that the person he is now is who she wanted him to be when they were together. Karen realized Scott could be that person she wants him to be.
  7. Sam (Karen Gillan, Guardians of the Galaxy) a matter-of-fact assassin makes a miscalculation that puts her on the run with an eight-year old (Chloe Coleman, Upload) to escape the wrath of The Firm - the shadowy organization Sam works for. Directed by Navot Papushado (Big Bad Wolves) from a script by Paushado and Ehud Lavski, "Gunpowder Milkshake" is a stylish, sprawling action film in the vein of "Atomic Blonde" and "John Wick". Great stunt pieces and world building. The film utilizes the other cast members well (Lena Headey, Angela Bassett, Carla Gugino, Michelle Yeoh). I watched it right after watching Kate Beckinsale's "Jolt", a film that shares slight similarities to Jason Statham's "Crank" except it's not offensive or awful. It was great seeing back to back films with women kicking a**.
  8. On the whole I liked the series, but as with anthologies quality is catch as catch can. I liked bit of the first episode, hated the second, but episodes 3 through 6 were pretty great.
  9. I was worried about the dreaded sophomore blahs, but after the first episode of series two I'm not worried anymore. I laughed out loud many times in this ep. Also I love the continued maturity of the characters. Most shows like to drag out things but I love that they have the characters be upfront with each other and don't milk certain things. And always great seeing James Lance's Trent Crimm, The Independent.
  10. Knocked out season two in two days - great stuff. Fiona Shaw seems to be everywhere nowadays but it's not an issue as she's such a great actress.
  11. Series two wrapped on June 24th. I cannot wait for it to drop.
  12. I've been out of school for a long time now - public and Catholic school - and in both I've personally known of students having sex in public. To me the difference between EUPHORIA and GENERA+ION is that Euphoria focuses on a subset of teens - dare I say, the cool kids. The teens in Genera+ion aren't as effected as that, they're goofy, they're not as dreary. Yes, being a teen is hard but some of these teen shows make it either morose or one big bacchanalia. I think Genera+ion is a side of teen-dom that isn't seen nowadays. They lean into the fun.
  13. I absolutely loved IT'S A SIN - if one can love something that is about an extremely painful era. While I loved it I knew it wasn't going to get any awards love but thankfully The Critics Choice Awards have recognized the production. OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN MOVIES, MINISERIES OR SPECIALS “Bo Burnham: Inside” – Netflix “The Good Lord Bird” – Showtime “I May Destroy You” – HBO “It’s a Sin” – HBO Max “Mare of Easttown” – HBO “The Queen’s Gambit” – Netflix “The Underground Railroad” – Amazon “WandaVision” – Disney+
  14. Entertainment Writer Mike Ryan shared an email he received from Jason Sudeikis five years ago after the loss of his (Ryan's) father. He published it with Sudeikis' permission to show how kind Sudeikis is. But here’s why I am sharing this: I see the positive effects that a positive character like Ted Lasso is having on people. His folksy niceness is infectious and, well, it sure as heck felt refreshing during its first season and it sure as heck feels refreshing during this second season. And, as it turns out, Jason Sudeikis, someone I’ve been fortunate to get to know a bit professionally, but certainly not well, did a truly nice thing for me when I really needed it and, frankly, I want people to know he did this. Also, the very few people I’ve actually told this story to always have a very positive reaction to it and now I just want to share it with others. https://uproxx.com/tv/jason-sudeikis-is-ted-lasso/
  15. I believe Chester well and truly likes Bo, but I think he loves the idea of Bo more than Bo himself. Bo hit the nail on the head when he told him, "I think you like how much I like you." When we first meet Chester it's obvious that's he's no stranger to hooking up and we later find out that Bo was his real first date. I think he wants so badly to be in a relationship and Bo is someone who ticks the boxes of good boyfriend that Chester is holding on to him as his romantic savior (and also a rebound for his feelings for Sam). Also, as Chester always said, I'm a lot and I told everyone that from the jump." Bo is often uncomfortable around Chester in a way Nathan isn't.
  16. I forget whether it was one of the creators or the actor who plays Bo, but they said one of the other reasons is that Bo sees himself in Nathan. He doesn't want to be that puppy chasing after Chester who Bo feels isn't truly into him as he is in him. I'm torn if Luz is just trying to be messy to get in between Greta and Riley or is she truly that draw to Riley. I think Luz knows Greta isn't going to put out so she's inserting herself because she likely expects Greta and Riley's relationship to go nowhere.
  17. The show has nominations in the creative end: F/X, Stunt Coordination, Stunt Performance, Visual Effects, Sound Editing, but yes, performance only went to Don Cheadle. What's amazing is that Cheadle didn't get a nomination for his series "Black Monday".
  18. Multiple nominations for the series, but unbelievably nothing for Joseph Fiennes. Outstanding Lead - Elisabeth Moss Outstanding Supporting Actor: O-T Fagbenle, Max Minghella, Bradley Whitford Outstanding Supporting Actress: Ann Dowd, Samira Wiley, Yvonne Strahovski Outstanding Guest Actress: Alexis Bleidel, McKenna Grace Outstanding Drama Series, and a slew of other nominations in the technical realm.
  19. Saw it during its initial Britbox run. Started out very strong, but sadly, didn't stick the landing. But I'd watch Cush Jumbo in anything.
  20. As a big Rafe Spall fan I love it. Definitely enjoying Esther Smith in this more than I did in her previous series "Cuckoo". Very sweet and heartfelt show. I would think those who love "Ted Lasso" would love "Trying" if they give it a chance. I really enjoyed how the second season focused on the other characters a bit like Nikki's sister.
  21. From episode 2 all the way through 16 this series was a joy. I hope it will be renewed.
  22. I had the pleasure of being in Donner's presence at a screening/Q&A for Ben Affleck's "The Accountant" of all things. His work was my entry into "Superman" and his other films "The Goonies", 'Scrooged", the Lethal Weapon films, the episodes of "Tales from the Crypt" he directed. He was just the best of the best.
