  1. There is always more than one side to any story, yet with #metoo, there's only one. While I don't believe women should automatically not be believed, I also don't think whatever they now say, 20 or more years after the fact, should be immediately taken as the absolute truth. Memory alters one's recollection of events and can often edit out the parts you don't want to recall. Like, for example, how you may have encouraged someone before you decided "no". And I wonder what Viacom had to do with this.
  2. Christina said in her GMA interview today that her home, the marital home, closed two months ago She's buying a house in Newport Beach. I like Tarek more than her. Don't know if I'll watch this new show.
  3. I can see why, in the first episode, they went into the divorce stuff, but now that we all know, I wish they'd change the open and stop the sniping. Just remodel the houses. I still like the end result, although I wasn't too keen on the "denim" tile last night. I can't believe Christina pays for that hairstyle.
  4. I'm really looking forward to seeing John Giddings. I used to love Curb Appeal.
  5. I'm so glad I read all these posts. I was so angry when I finished watching. Agist, sexist, aaargh! They better have another season and they better get it right.
  6. Thanks for the info, doesn't really help all that much. Maybe if the talking heads talked less, they'd have time for more stuff.
  7. Are they showing any of the medal ceremonies? I hoped they'd show the ice dance one, but...nothing.
  8. She was actually Queen of the United Kingdom and Ireland at that time. There were a lot of soldiers looking for her. There was a documentary some time ago about a year in the Queen's garden at Buckingham Palace. It's going to be shown again in March this year. http://www.pbs.org/show/queens-garden/#
  9. We just watched Frozen in Love last night and didn't like it. I couldn't stand the female character. By the end of the movie, she was almost a normal person, but that's too late.
  10. Thank you. It would have been a long, hard fall!
  11. Did the racers have safety harnesses, or anything, in the ladder climb? I don't remember seeing any.
  12. I can't imagine installing a basement in California. There's a reason we don't have them and I think they mentioned that. The overall cost of the reno must have been massive. It would have been less expensive to tear it down and build a replica, but they couldn't even if they wanted to. I like the interior decor they do for clients much more than the stuff they do for themselves. I didn't like the Las Vegas house either. I thought the built-in seating in the pool was stupid. How could you possibly swim in the pool with that? I didn't care very much for the rooftop deck. I bet their neighbors really like that. Say goodbye to their backyard privacy. This is a pretty upscale area of Los Angeles. I read that the house cost them $2.3m. then add on the cost of the reno.
  13. I watched the repeat of Finding Father Christmas on Friday and the new Engaging Father Christmas last night. They're very pleasant to watch. Looking forward to Marrying Father Christmas next year, followed by a number of births over the following several years!
  14. I have never liked the Dimitri arc(s). I don't like the Captain Arm Candy, spy, arcs either. I like Madam Sec a lot, just not the rest. I almost didn't watch the whole episode.
  15. It has to be Classic Coke, not diet. It always works for me, cold and still fizzy.
  16. I was rooting for Jane, then Andrew, with Candace last. I just found her annoying and I couldn't stand her accent. She is a good baker, but really didn't win by much. I hope we get the first three seasons. I have little interest in watching the new version.
  17. I thought Jane would win star baker, but I guess Andrew just squeaked ahead with his smooth-sided fondants.
  18. "Disingenuous" is a real word which has been in dictionaries for a long, long time. First known use 1655. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/disingenuous
  19. "Rouladen" is German and they are usually savory. "Roulade" is based on the French "rouler" meaning "to roll" and they can be either sweet or savory.
  20. Because the terrorist in Gitmo didn't know the specifics of the threat.
  21. Quite possibly. Although no indyref vote is currently scheduled for Scotland and if/when it is, there's no saying what the outcome will be.
  22. No, she's not. England is not an independent nation. Similarly, she is not Queen of Scotland. "England" is not the equivalent of "Great Britain" .
  23. Could I just note that HM Queen Elizabeth II is not, never has been and never will be, the Queen of England. She is Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Great Britain comprises England, Scotland and Wales.
  24. This was a very good episode. It took a couple of seconds at the end to figure it out and I have to admit my first thought was "Bobby Ewing"!
  25. There are many different recipes for Stollen and this is the first one I've seen with marzipan in the middle. I prefer it without, I think. I like marzipan, but I'm not sure I'd want it with a mouthful of fruity bread. However, after watching this last night, I must remember to get some from Trader Joe's today
