This is definitely an interesting question you posted and it deserved a bit more attention than it got, I guess it got missed in the common cry of outrage over Kodouche and Sobbyn's behaviour. So here's my take, hope that others pick it up and add to it: Maybe the editing has been softer in the past, but the situation they were in didn't make their outrageous behaviour as visible as it is now: More little kids and teens that needed attention and be taken care of. Apart from Savanah, Truley and Robyn's 2 kids, all are over 18 and most (apart from Robyn's three moved out) Until now, all wives were treated "fairly" equal when it came to places to Iive and what they needed. In Lehi, all three had their own apartment, though Christine was condemned to the basement. Robyn had her own rental. In LV, all houses were the same. I said "fairly' because we all knew Meri got as much as the others who had 5 kids more to support. Now, they're completely apart, making it more visible that Kody is never around for the others. K's behaviour probably got a lot worse over the years because he's in the middle of a HUGE midlife crisis.

THIS!!! O btw, you forgot to mention staying away from Christine... Kody is the epitome of a father who has left his wife and no longer cares for their kids because they are only 50% his (the other 50% comes from their rmuch despised, horrible and stupid moms, which means you can't possibly ever love them anymore because they remind you of your ex so much...)

If you keep up with this board, you’ll know what is coming😉

Maybe it’s too expensive to get it fixed? Fear for dental procedures is another why people do not get it done.

Janelle Brown: Smarter Than Your Average Brown (Maybe)
LilyD replied to Rhondinella's topic in Sister Wives
Well frankly, it isn’t hard to look skinny when you’re standing next to Janelle and Meri… Meri’s weight gain truly is shocking! She is nearing Janelle in size… -
It’s Audrey; she has more credit in my book. From what I have seen on tv, this coming out doesn’t really surprise me. Also, she isn’t such an attention whore as Mariah. I think this is genuine. Had this been Mariah….I would have had more doubts, knowing her fondness for attention, being in the spotlight and desire to force her beliefs on others.

I have a second cousin who was gay, married to this wonderful guy called John. My cousin suddenly broke the news that he was in fact trans and chose to fully transition a few years later. Yes there were concerns about their relationship. But...it survived. It's my understanding that it wasn't easy for John as he admitted that he always identified as gay and had never felt any physical attraction towards women. But at the same time, his husband (now wife) was still the same person in many ways and with the help of a good counselor they worked things out and are still very happy together. So yes, transitioning within a relationship is possible as I have seen it myself, but at the same time I can understand that not everyone is able to make it work. Because of the feelings that John so openly described. I guess you could say that your partner also needs to transition into a completely different role? It really is true love if you're able to do that for your partner!

Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events
LilyD replied to maraleia's topic in Counting On
I fully agree Just a note or two to add on what you say: Historically, women became part of the husband’s family after marriage. They were in their care, their responsibility. Her own parents had little or no say about her after marriage. Since these fundies uphold many old ‘values’ and rules, and we do know that in Duggar life men are in charge, I’m assuming they also uphold this tradition of Anna being a Duggar and a Duggar charge under their responsibility and care. Not mom and dad’s, however much they might like it. Which brings me to the second bit: For all we know, Anna’s parents might actually be really upset and worried. While it makes sense for us common sense people with a (fairly) modern take on life, to take our daughter straight out of the clutches of that monster, it probably isn’t. I think within that religious cult everything (nice and not so nice) is done by people around them to keep Anna there and for her parents not to interfere. Being shunned (like the Amish do) is one such cruel way. And neither Anna, nor her mom probably have any say in this either. If her parents do anything, it’s probably done in private like you say. Yes, Anna could pack up and leave but where would she go with no money, no education, no work experience and a large brood of young kids. I’m no Anna fan, but I can’t help feeling for her. -
What’s the uhm…”decoration” in that tree? Was she gift-wrapping and did she think the tree could use some as well? Yeah I know, little puppies and kids, so better not use baubles and other expensive glass stuff but there is plenty of nice looking, not too expensive kid-proof Christmas decoration around! (Expert mom here, our youngest just turned 5) Just take the paper, or ugly ribbon (whatever it is) out please. It hurts my eyes!

When you need money: Find a job and earn money. The Kody way: sort out another loan and live off that. I’m guessing that their newest loan is either to pay off Christine or a way to fund family expenses. Didn’t Robyn say that Kody hasn’t worked at all since the start of the pandemic? Yes, I know, TLC money for the show but that’s not gonna cover the much discussed mortgages, rents, monthly expenses, extra loans and the college funds for Robyn’s kids (assuming they do go to college, which I doubt) Does Janelle work at all? I’m guessing Meri is taking care of herself now and I just realised that divorcing Kody may have been a life saver! He cannot lay his hands on Meri’s inheritance anymore and loan against the B&B.

I agree, and believe he needed the four wives and 15 biological kids to flaunt his “amazing ego”. To show all his old ‘friends’ and classmates that he actually is a god-like creature and that all other women missed out on him. In his mind, every man looks at him in envy; few can say they’re that fertile and had no less than 4 women who really wanted to marry him (and what prizes they were!) The sad reality is, that everyone looks at him with contempt and/or can barely stop laughing when watching this sad, pathetic human…thing.
-
I haven’t caught them actively discouraging the girls to go to college but they aren’t encouraging it either. I think Kody and the wives are perfectly happy to see the girls married and be stay-at-home moms. The men can provide for the family so college is not a number one priority for them. (I won’t say what I think about that btw) In addition, it’s the cheap way out. Most of us work hard to get one or two kids through college. Imagine having to provide college funds for 18! (I’m guessing that Maddie pulling out of college was a financial relief to Kody and Janelle.) Every kid that doesn’t go to college or joins the army is one less for college funds. That is..if they contribute towards the kids’ college funds at all….

All Past Seasons of the Late Lamented Show
LilyD replied to ByTor's topic in Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making The Team
Heather was amazing! She had such a sweet vibe! I’m actually surprised not to see Jenn Amburn as vet of the year since Kelli liked her so much. So maybe it is really true that it’s just the squad’s decision and not K&J? (We’ve often questioned that) What are the nominations based on? Is it their dancing or commitment? Personality? If it’s the first two, I would actually have expected Jenna on the list too. -
Is she using an eyeliner or a permanent marker to draw those lines? She looks like my 6-year-old when she used her felt-tip pens to apply make-up!
-
Janelle seems aware of the dangers she faces because of her weight; she mentioned this several times during the show as well. To me, it feels like she is aware and is taking precautions, but she won’t allow the threat of Covid to completely take over her life. So yes, she ventures out but seems to be masked up all the time. And she may go into quarantine and social distance from others and test herself too. We simply don’t know, so it’s easy to assume the wrong thing. Somebody out here suggested that Janelle is probably not opposed to social distancing (which is what we are lead to believe) but opposed to social distancing within the family, which is a different matter altogether.
-
Yeah that was an interesting one! I think she literally meant it. They would owe her somewhere around the 150-200k if they all have an equal share and want to buy her out. But even if they don’t have equal shares, it’s still a lot of money. And all their money is locked in the mansion and Coyote Pass, so how would they have to do that? But Christine may also be the sole owner of a piece of land, if there was any truth in that ridiculous scene where they were dividing up the land (again). In that case, she could simply sell it to the highest bidder. Now that would be funny and really upset Kody!

Robyn Brown: She wanted the family, but got stuck with the man.
LilyD replied to Rhondinella's topic in Sister Wives
Roslyn, you’re right about Robyn’s house. Thanks for correcting that and providing the right info. As for Robyn’s attitude towards Kody potentially leaving for 2 weeks to support Ysabel: You hardly ever catch her actively being nasty, it’s always pretty subtle. But she loudly prioritized her own healthy two kids over a girl who needed her parents because she would be facing serious surgery. How could you? As a mom? -
Yeah but you can’t admit to your wives and confess on (inter)national tv that you are heading for a financial disaster, can you?Kody is a self-centered egomaniac who will always believe that he is right in everything he does, including that cringe-worthy presentation* of his. * (Did anyone study that pointless board behind him? It’s in the picture higher up page. It’s about the poorer population of LV and that those wouldn’t be able to afford their houses. What’s the point of that? Other than to brag?)

Robyn Brown: She wanted the family, but got stuck with the man.
LilyD replied to Rhondinella's topic in Sister Wives
Nasty thought bubbling up now: Was there more than one incentive for Robyn (apart from Dayton) to pull the family out of Vegas? In the latest episode she suddenly started whining that Ari and Sol could ‘t be without dad for two weeks. But in that cul-de-sac Kody would be close by all the time, simply by being next door, but he would be away an awful lot too! Everybody was claiming his attention, even on assigned days and nights, he could be gone. So near, yet so far away…. (Me being philosophical now) Then there was this sudden decision to move. Robyn was the first to put that house up for sale and the first who sold. How convenient was that? On to find a house where the others wouldn’t be so near. I’m sure she calculated on the fact that Kody would be less willing to go see Christine and Meri when he had to drive to them. And she was right. All she had to do was get a mansion and make sure the others left or had no suitable house (Janelle) for King Kongdy… -
Yeah, I noticed that too. And all I could think of was “Jeez princess, you wanted a plural marriage and chose a guy that had 3 wives already! In ‘normal’ polygamous circumstances, Ari and Sol would have been lucky to see dad twice a week…so please don’t give us this crap now!
-
I was about to say the same! And it’s the same style Meri had in her lounge in LV. I wonder where she hangs/lounges after a long day of hard work doing something… those chairs will probably break your back!

Christine Brown Woolley: Nacho Sister Wife Anymore
LilyD replied to Rhondinella's topic in Sister Wives
Am curious to hear what you meant with turned over milions? If you meant spending outrageous amounts of money in excess of a million (probably 2-3) I agree. If you refer to the possibility of having made that much money in real estate I have to disagree. While all the houses in LV were sold at a profit, it was nowhere near the (minimally) expected 250k per house Kody envisioned. Only Robyn came ‘close’ (well sort of) with buying for around 444k and selling for just over 600k. The Lehi house, on the other hand, was sold at a significant loss. We have also wondered about the actual value of Coyote Pass considering the state of the property and the huge amount it’s going to cost to develop. So I’ll leave that out of consideration. Robyn’s house has probably increased in value as did Christine. So yeah, they have made some profit on the LV houses and the 2 Flagstaff properties have risen in value, but millions?? They’d be lucky if it’s 1 million. And while a huge sum, we shouldn’t forget it comes from 4 households combined, making it even less spectacular. They could have and should have done so much better! -
Or maybe they’re just tired of constantly babysitting their younger siblings? On the other hand; it’s not like A,B,D were busy socialising at that get together. Christine’s and Janelle’s kids were chatting and having a good time. Those 3 were just staring at their phones or looking grumpy..
-
I so agree with the two of you. And who has said that the Brown kids are all major party animals that break all the rules? I’ve yet to find proof for that. It’s just Kody’s words and I don’t believe a thing he says. The boys are having a girlfriend? So what? For all we know, their whole social life is just hanging out together with their girls. Lots of people have relationships and have had to find ways to make it work. They may not agree on the necessity of all the rules, but that goes for many people, not just young people!
-
I thought it was funny that Covid apparently did make its way into the bunker and got Kody of all people, whereas the huge rule breakers* didn’t get it (or at least not as far as we know). Rule breakers: I’ve been trying to decide whether Janelle’s and Christine’s families actually are ignoring all precautions like Kody wants us to believe. I’m not going to elaborate on that again, but they are trying with an understanding that somehow life does go on, one way or another. It’s probably more than enough in the eyes of some and definitely not enough in the eyes of others. (Robyn keeping Ari away from Meri after two weeks of quarantine, all alone) I doubt mankind will ever agree on one single covid protocol….
