I think this extreme repression only started after the rebellion. Like in our world, there's poor people doing the shitty jobs and there's people living the good life up top. Sooner or later, those people down low rebel as we know happened. To prevent that from happening again, the pact was created. And like in our world, the people in charge bend those rules how they see fit "for the greater good" and to keep their comfy lives comfy. I actually think they may really believe that those rules keep order as the mayor sees the silo as a pressure cooker that could be set off by the slightest shift. By keeping people ignorant, he thinks he can maintain order.

I think players like Cassidy and especially Owen would have a better shot in a 39 day season because there's more time to build a resume. By the time they finally turn the game around and are building momentum, it's over already and the controlling players they outplayed are still (subtly) bitter because not enough time has passed to process and get over the loss. I think most were leaning towards Gabler because of social relationships and he was very convincing in FTC and probably swayed a few others. Cassidy just didn't do very well explaining her game and had the jury against her so it was a steeper hill to climb. I think she should have put more emphasis on how although she started on the majority alliance, once she became a target she was able to form her own alliance where she was the 'leader' (like dictating the Karla vote) to get her to the end despite being targeted by her former alliance. She survived by trusting the right people (unlike Cody and Jeannine), despite being a physical threat (unlike Ryan), won immunity when it counted to keep herself in the game (unlike Jesse and Karla), was a trustworthy ally (unlike Sammy) and managed her threat level (unlike Noelle and others) and made the right alliance to get her to the end (unlike everyone). I'm sorry, but Jesse is a shit player if he didn't have a plan to get to the end. I couldn't believe my eyes and ears that he only started practicing fire on the last day. Knowing his threat level he should have been practicing every day. He knew he wouldn't get there by winning immunity and should have made the alliances to get him there. If Cody was the only one who would take him, he should have kept him in the game. Everyone can make flashy moves but you have to get to the end. So even Gabler was a better player than Jesse.

I think they said something about all their boats being in use and it would take 3 hours to get back to the island to take care of the Leah problem. After seeing the ending, I assumed they were dumping the boys on their island. The mysteries are a part of the fun of this show so it didn't bother me at all that so much was left open ended. I think it's because they had already blown my mind several times with the girls backstories so I felt like the deep questions of who these girls are were answered by the end of the season. The rest is just ya know, set up for the next season(s). The showrunner said she has several seasons planned out so even though it wasn't a sure thing, I think they had faith in this show and it was gonna get renewed unless it truly bombed horribly. I don't think Gretchen was lying about the son. The prison guard mentioned the last name Klein when talking about the boy Nora wanted to see and Gretchen's last name is Klein. Unless we're thinking she bribed the guard to not let Nora in and use her last name. I don't think so though. I feel like the story with the son is Gretchen's villain origin story. It would be funny if all these rich investors were also funding a higher power who was watching over Gretchen and her team to see how far they'll let things go as a sort of prisoner/guard experiment. That one woman she had dinner with seemed like she enjoyed playing games. So by trying to prove women should be in power, Gretchen is proving the opposite by being a horrible woman in power in the experiment within the experiment.

Ever since some promo interviews where Sandra seemed down, I had this feeling she got blindsided or made a dumb move or something. So whenever reviewers kept writing about how safe Sandra is with her idol, I didn’t believe it and there was this niggling feeling that something would go wrong. So when she started getting fancy, I knew this was it…Should’ve stuck to “as long as it ain’t me!” Sandra. If it ain’t broke… On the other hand, I think this big move was too early for Denise…She put a huge target on herself and wasted an idol I suspect she’ll need desperately later. It might have been better for her to just play the idol, survive a vote with an idol in her pocket and Sandra’s loyalty. I’m pissed that Wendell stole Parvati’s turn, screwed it up by being cocky and she got voted out. I knew the Nick thing was too good to be true because it just didn’t make sense with the position he’s in and would have made him too high profile for an under the radar guy. Parvati could have tried something with the nullifier, but those guys were too tight so I doubt bargaining it would have worked. She needed Jeremy’s get out of jail free card to survive. Poetic that the who should have won/who is the real queen, Parvati or Sandra debate was settled with both getting voted out the same night. I feel bad for Michele and find myself rooting for her. I also like Sophie and Sarah (who seems to be working her magic on Ben…doesn’t he remember her screwing over all her friends for her previous win). The only players I didn't care about getting voted out are Wendell, Ben, Adam and Kim.

Ha indeed, because I see a nice little story arc building. Starting off with episode 1 when she was blindsided when her ally Nathalie was voted off. So she was on the bottom with Jeremy, but was able to manoeuver into a power position and orchestrate the Ethan vote. She seems to get along with everyone and her name never comes up. And she's using Jeremy's meat shield strategy on Jeremy by using him as her meat shield. She's had some confessionals (or was it pregame interviews?) about wanting to play a more aggressive game this go around. Compared to half the cast who's barely appeared on screen or been shown strategizing, she's had a ton of story! 😛

Man, those guys were awful. It was so sweet when Tai refused to save Scott and he went home with other dude's idol in his pocket heh. I don't recall details but I believe Aubry sweettalked Tai into standing up to his bullies. It's always easier to root for the underdog so I was one of those bummed Aubry didn't win. But like Rob said, if you won you won. Michelle played the best game in the group of people she was with. The endgoal isn't to get to the end. It's to get to the end and earn more jury votes than your opponent. Is she a less deserving winner than Boston Rob who needed 3 goes at it and a redemption island? I don't think so. Yet he's lauded as one of the greats because he has funny quips and a charming smile. They are positioning Michelle as a person to root for this season, for sure. And it's kinda working on me. I want to see her "redeem" herself. It has the opposite effect on me with Ben. I'm waiting on Parvati to do something. She doesn't ride coattails baby, but seems like she's riding the Rob wave to a swap or merge. Curious to see how she does then. The soccer mom alliance? In honor of her fallen soccer player buddy Ethan.

I don't think 'revenge' was the sole reason Sandra wanted Tyson out. Tyson is tight with and thus a number for Boston Rob who is her nemesis in this game. If they hooked up in a swap situation, that would be bad for her. It was funny that Yul said he hasn't been doing much math because I remember thinking at the beginning of the episode that his tight 4 he had so much confidence in is a minority in a 9 person tribe. It reminded me of those 4-person popular kids/muscle alliances of the olden days. It worked out in his favor but it could have turned out differently. That challenge didn't seem fair and I hope they change that up in the future. I don't like it when a person's physique is that much of a determining factor for whether or not you succeed. I don't remember jumping for keys ever taking that much effort in 20 years of survivor. I thought they might have messed up the allignment or something. I don't mind EoE but they could have slimmed down that segment just a bit. I still feel like we get a decent amount of camp life from each tribe. The entertainment value of EoE is about the same as a reward challenge so *shrug*

I was just thinking about making some time to catch up on the last 2 seasons when this news dropped. Guess I won't be catching up then because Alex's scenes were some of the only ones I didn't watch on double speed back when I still forced myself to watch the show. Something definitely went down. The negotiation theory sounds legit. Or JC had some midlife crisis with his 50th coming up and the kids out of the house so he up and quit suddenly which caused bad blood towards him from showrunners. All the former cast I still keep up with seems infinitely happier post Grey's and I hope he will be too. With his talent and name recognition it shouldn't be too hard to get another gig unless he gets blacklisted.

I'm really enjoying the show as a whole but the only character I'm loving right now is Dani. Sophie annoys the shit out of me with how whiny she is. Can't she muster up some understanding for the difficult position Dani is in? And with how she was defending one night stands and sleeping with someone to feel better, I'm bracing myself for the worst. I started liking Finley a bit more but to be honest, I'm more interested in her minister friend. The gay neighbour's acting makes me cringe. Mercedes Mason finally playing gay! Too bad we couldn't get it on Fear the walking dead 😉 The moaning was a bit too fake though. You can tell who the real lesbians are in the sex scenes. Alice is like the same ol' Alice. Her storyline is interesting and fun and cute as always. Bette and Shane...while there are shades of who they are, I feel like something's missing.

Of course we don't see Kellee complaining about touching. They've been seperated as just stated in the previous sentence The first day they're on the same beach, he's back to touching her!!! And it's clear Dan has not listened by the way the women on his new beach were reenacting his shelter behavior. I feel gaslighted by this blogpost. Tommy mentioned in his interview with Rob C. that one night after he made too many people laugh he spent all night worrying he'd done too much to make himself likeable and changed his behavior the next day. There's nothing but time on the island to think, reflect, worry, examine your behavior,...Yet after that conversation with Kellee in episode 1, Dan didn't change his behavior at all. That's saying something. That makes me wonder what he does in the real world in a power position with young women licking his boots for an opportunity if this is what he does on a televised gameshow after someone points out his behavior. I'm not an idiot. I know things get edited and spliced. They used a lot of the same footage in the Touchy Dan montage. They tried to make themselves look good by embellishing the talk with the contestants and making it look like Kellee was involved in the conversation about whether or not she should speak from the jury. Things like that. Covering their ass basically. But the facts are clear. Kellee was uncomfortable. She made that clear. He kept doing it. There's the door. I'm sure if we didn't live in the #metoo era this could have slid by like nothing happened and the contestants clearly didn't think much of it at Ponderosa or expect this viewer reaction. Survivor incidents in the past have gone further than touching hair and nothing was done so this was a long time coming.

People will tell you, I'm usually the clumsiest person in any situation. Yet I've never accidentally groped someone in the midst of my many daily stumbles. If I'd gotten an official warning after repeatedly being told to stop touching people, I'm sure I would be hyperaware of what my hands were doing at all times. Especially in a situation with virtual strangers and camera's. The weirdness of being on Survivor probably wears off after a while, but I can't imagine being that unaware of myself and my surroundings. I don't care if all he did was pick a cochroach out of someone's hair. After all that came before that, keep you effing hands to yourself. It's really not that hard. And if it is that hard, you have a problem. All the fan outrage really confuses me. All I thought when the announcement appeared on screen was 'good riddance'. People seem to either be mad that he wasn't removed earlier or that we didn't get more information. Well, my outrage about his non-removal happened when Kellee was booted. By the time this episode rolled around I was mostly over it and just glad that production followed through on their warning. There's not much they could do about not removing him earlier because they can't rewind time. But they took action when it happened again. As for not getting more information...I really don't care what he did. I was just glad that he wouldn't be in the final three as I feared the longer the season went on.

Although Karishma takes herself a bit too seriously, she certainly has more self awareness than Dean and I find her more likeable than Noura (A Noura would definitely drive me up the wall more than a Karishma). At times she seems super poised and well spoken and probably like the survivor she imagined she'd be but at other times the cringe is strong with her comments and attitude. Overall it would be a pretty good story if she won this game but it's too much of a long shot. If only she had some chance at winning immunity. Although without Tommy and Noura there I actually think she might have a shot because she surprised me during a couple of challenges and the other players left are all pretty average to bad at challenges. Imagine Detective Dean 'let's split the vote' Kowalski rolling down his shirt sleeve after losing to Karishma and getting voted off after playing his real fake legacy advantage.

I think Kellee's point was that it only gets coined as a thing when women (are perceived to) do it whereas when the men form an alliance which happens much more frequently, nobody makes a big deal out of it. The fragile male ego is still traumatized from that evil Parvati's coven of witches 😉 When guys stick together it's the most natural thing in the world because they have to be each other's shield against those weak women who would target them otherwise (I'm being facetious). Also, just because there happen to be more women than men in the game at any point in time doesn't automatically mean they are all alligned or will allign because they are women. Players don't assume that about the men but always do when women have a majority. If Kellee had put the target on Jamal instead of Jack, Jamal might have finally dethroned Eric for dumbest move in Survivor history. That was a HUGE unnecessary risk to play an idol for someone else when a TC is that unpredictable. You know everyone is voting for Dean and Dean just played an idol so you play your idol for the decoy vote? Wtf…?? When you know people don’t like you and your name has been floated?? Even if Noura had been the vote and gotten saved by his idol, then what…Everyone is scrambling and whispering in each other’s ears…anything can happen in a revote…I’d rather play the idol for me and be safe than sorry. I think Kellee picked Jack over Jamal because although Jamal is a threat and she doesn’t like him, the only person who does like him is Jack so that makes him less threatening. She knows he’s not easy to work with whereas Jack is a likeable guy who can easily form new alliances. Jack is also someone people could easily forget about until it’s too late to get rid of him whereas Jamal is such a presence that he’s always on everyone’s mind as a potential vote for that tribal so he’s a good shield going into the merge. The only downside is she probably won’t get his vote if she makes it to final tribal council because of their conversation regarding not betraying him until after the merge. I don’t know if the risk of this big move was worth it but the thought of that brilliant hairidol going to waste bummed me out so I’m glad she was able to play it successfully. You could say she took a…calculated risk. Jeff/production airing Karishma’s smug vote reading was kinda amusing but left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth like they’re continuing to pick on her every time they can. Dan is just disgusting. #metoo indeed. I know there’s a no violence policy so isn’t there some sort of policy for this? Everyone’s laughing it off but people are in a situation where they know making a big deal could have bad consequences for them so they might think they don’t have another choice but to laugh it off (see how afraid Kellee was to bring it up). Karishma could get dragged along or she could be the easy first merge boot as everybody gets settled and feels each other out. If nobody can trust you, nobody can work with you. And if they drag her along, that’s one less spot for one of them. It could also be a concession from the women to alleviate the men’s fear.

I thought Sandra was being sarcastic about Elaine "this one never knows anything" said tongue in cheek. This season is pretty funny and entertaining so far. I like Missy but she needs to dial it back a tiny bit. She's on the bottom of her alliance with Elizabeth/Elaine and they could turn on her quick. I really like Kellee. Her facial expressions and Noura commentary cracked me up. The bun idol move remains brilliant and she got herself out of a sticky Dan situation early on very diplomatically. A lot of people who were on the bottom that first episode seem to have found their place in the thribe. Jason and Elaine or instance. Noura being the exception of course.

Agreed. But if they can't or don't want to do that on this show, they could start with making the heroes more interesting! It would be a lot more engaging to see them actually work hard to help the people they encounter. Instead everything just gets handed to them or happens off screen or gets solved with a deus ex machina or the villain just decides to let them go for no reason other than they're regulars on the show. We're two seasons in and most of the cast has barely had any scenes of significance together. It's always the same people interacting with each other and reiterating the same beat. Everybody is best buds after being enemies one episode prior. That Tess actress posted a picture of herself with Lennie, Alycia and Karen and I thought she was a member of the crew at first because she's been that insignificant despite being on for several episodes.

My only complaint is that we didn't get a final scene with (either or both of) the foster mom. I kind of expected Marie to hand her the check with the $ 500 she lent her. Amazing series. I think I'm dehydrated from all the crying. It wasn't even during the really emotional moments, but just small moments in between really got to me.

This kept bothering me after watching the episode. Alicia had to reveal their position at the police station but there was no reason for Morgan and Al to reveal theirs so how did Logan find out what they were up to?? Or were they really stupid enough to reply with "we're at bank so and so on Bank Avenue and will be there soon"??

In defense of the show with regards to the oil field, they had one of their usual throw away lines to explain a major plot point of the season. Logan said Polar Bear "set some people up" at the oil field. So while there are probably plenty of oil fields in Texas, this one actually has people who know what they're doing managing it. Logan could try driving to random oil fields in the hopes that it's the right one, but he's almost out of gas so that's tricky. This episode was boring and that's about all I have to say about it.

At one point they focussed on Morgan smiling when he was sharing a scene with Grace. Remember, he told the story of his first date with his wife...and how he couldn't stop smiling and that's how he knew she was the one or something like that. So his smiling next to Grace meant he likes her and when he realized that, he made up the Al excuse to get away from her because he's not ready to let go of his wife yet. Grace was notably heartbroken because she probably has feelings too. To be fair to Logan, Morgan and friends took his warehouse full of goods and are wasting them with a stupid plan of leaving them out on the road in the elements in case a survivor just happens to be walking past that road. Then when he told them about the oil field, they ditched him and now Morgan’s group are the only people with reliable vehicles who are raiding all the stores in the vicinity. Meanwhile, Logan is supposed to travel on foot and find food…where? If our group is scavenging in their trucks, everything in the vicinity is cleared. The only place to find food and supplies is in the boxes. Take what you need, leave what you don’t…Well, I need to eat every day… If they don't show them talking about a long term plan for growing food, this show loses that last shred of believablity it's hanging onto. There was a scene of them counting supplies in the previous episode, so I'm mildly hopeful it will come up towards the end of the season. But come on! If you have 1000 cans of food and you drop off 20 boxes a day and need to feed a convoy of people, you'll be starving in a month or hunting down your own boxes! I wish they'd show John fishing or Daniel hunting in the woods or the kids gathering water at a lake or SOMETHING to make us believe these people aren't just living on cans. Strand couldn't even repair his own boat! Travis had to do it. But suddenly he's an airplane expert.

I binged this show in two days and quite enjoyed the ride. I'm a sucker for these types of shows though so I'm easily pleased. It was a bit hard at first to get a grasp on the crew and who's who but that get's better and they get more likeable. I was surprised by the terrible imdb rating. Hope there's a season 2.

I think I spent about 3 episodes bawling my eyes out. This show always gets to me. Maybe it went by too fast so I didn't notice, but was Maritza on that credit behind the scenes reel? Sad if she wasn't. I really loved this season. The only things that bothered me was the open cell phone use that went completely unnoticed. And the fact that it was a max prison, but there was no difference between that and where they were before. I knew they had beef, but I didn't remember exactly what happened between Red/Frieda and Gloria/Maria so I was a bit clueless during those scenes. It would have been nice to see one of the good guards got the warden job but I suppose that's not realistic.

God forbid they'd have to cut down some of those 2 page monologues :-)

I burst out laughing when Dwight said something akin to "Hell I'd even walk". Remember when all these groups did was walk?? And that was at the start of everything when cars and gas were still functional. According to John it'll take days to get across the mountain on foot...That still sounds like a better plan than fixing a crashed plane with broken propellers and a leaking fuel tank...But what do I know.

That one tape mattered because it had proof on it that the helicopter people exist and Al recorded maps of their location (coded, but still risky if someone could decipher it) that she found on the body. So Isabel was desperate to find the tape to protect her group's location (and general existence). As for her other tapes...they're probably not important to other people, but they are important to her personally. The bog tape, because she chose her job over her family and missed out on spending a last moment with her brother. So she wants to make that personal sacrifice matter by keeping a record of the story she made for future generations when there's a new world order. Otherwise she wasted their final hours together for nothing and she can't accept that. Everybody needs something to believe in or keep them going and I suppose that's it for her when everything else has gone to shit. The other tapes were a continuation of that but they started mattering even more to the whole group when they decided to track all those people down and help them instead of just asking for their story in exchange for some ramen noodles and send them on their way like Al did initially.
