  1. Note to Monica: Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean people aren't out to get you. I was in my early 30s when this happened so I was aware of the politics of this whole thing but watching those people being gleeful about finally having something to nail Clinton with still bothers me. A young woman's life was upended and I honestly don't think one single person involved cared at all about that. I can't make up my mind if Linda Tripp was just a vile person or if she had something wrong with her psychologically. I wonder how her kids felt after all this happened.
  2. I think that was in the movie When Harry Met Sally. Billy Crystal's character was dating a younger woman. When he asked her where she was win Kennedy got shot her response was Ted Kennedy got shot?.
  3. Little Brown and Company is the publisher. This is a quote from Tina Brown "Fast-paced and riveting, Going There is an intimate memoir that chronicles the once magical world of TV news. Every young woman should read this book to understand what ambition really feels like and the work it takes to fulfill it."―Tina Brown So I guess we are just supposed to handwave Katie's horrible behavior as just ambition?
  4. I don't think Katie ever sees herself the way other people see her. I seem to remember a story about her early years in the news business when a producer gave her some constructive criticism which she ignored and when she became famous she said something like and that is why I am successful. Implying that whatever that producer told her to do was wrong. I'm inclined to believe she became successful in spite of her arrogant know it all attitude and not because of her arrogant know it all attitude. One of the most galling things in her book is she sees herself as some sort of trailblazing feminist when in reality she admittedly tried (and sometimes succeeded) to keep other women from succeeding and is an apologist for men accused of all kinds of sexual improprieties. She has always been someone who enjoyed being part of the glitzy side of being a celebrity. Going to fancy functions and being invited to rich people parties. So my sincere hope is she is blacklisted from all of that.
  5. I already have it on reserve at my library. But with all the excerpts we are hearing I'm not sure what will be left to read. @GiveMeSpace come join our conversation
  6. It has also knocked a lot of applicants out of jobs they are qualified for except for the college degree that lots of jobs require now. I am an office manager at a small business. I do not have a degree. I see job listings for receptionists that require a college degree. I have seen plenty of people hired at jobs they are unqualified for experience wise simply because they graduated college. Not everyone is going to go to college.
  7. She definitely acts like she was above all that "troublesome stuff that happened". If Trump had won a second term she would probably still be there supporting him.
  8. She wasn't on the View but there were a lot of rumors about her not being kind when she took over the magazine that became Rosie. In fact there was a book, a fictionalized account of it, written by the magazine's former editor in chief.
  9. She was awful at that job and if you said that you were accused of being sexist. I have seen plenty of other women who anchored the nightly news even if it was them filling in and they did a great job. And then after she failed being a nightly news anchor someone thought it was a good idea to give her a daily talk show and then that failed. At some point you have to think maybe Katie is the problem.
  10. @tinkerbell hope you get well soon. And yeah what @GiveMeSpace said. Dying her hair pink is literally the very least Meghan can do for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
  11. It's the FB effect. Negativity brings more clicks or in the View's case more media mentions. But add me to the list of people who will not watch if the new co host is just going to spout garbage and not be able to have a rational debate with a co host who doesn't agree with her. I watched when Elisabeth Hasselbeck did her conservative Barbie act and I watched when she who shall not be named did her nepotism Barbie act. I'm not watching a third one.
  12. Sure she can. And probably would. Yesterday she said she didn't vote for Trump in 2016. But she chose to work for his administration. Because she says out of sense of public service or duty or whatever. I get the impression she didn't necessarily like the man but liked his policies Muslim ban aside. We have yet to hear her views on other issues that might put her at odds with the other co hosts. My opinion is she isn't too far removed from the last co host to sit in that seat just more polished.
  13. Yes. It used to be the super duper rich bought yachts. Now they buy spaceships. It saddens me these same men (and it is always men) who spend that much money on a (barely) space ride do their level best to avoid paying taxes.
  14. Yep. When Norville took over for Jane Pauley people thought she was the worst of the worst. Little did they know......
  15. Ana has some opposing views and they like her. It's not the views of some of the guest co hosts have that are unlikable. It's some of the co hosts themselves. I don't dislike Sunny but I do dislike how she acts sometimes. I have read a lot of the Trump books and Farah is mentioned a lot in them but Grisham almost never is. Maybe she was too busy writing her book to actually do her job.
  16. I wonder if the Today show will have her on. Did she really misjudge how people (especially people in the news business) would react to her book? Somewhere Ann Curry is smiling.
  17. What fantasy land is Sunny living in when she thinks FB users should do a better job of policing themselves? The problem isn't necessarily the users who are posting inflammatory posts. It's the users who are sharing and simply reading those posts. The majority of people now say they get their news from FB. And we know a lot of that news isn't true.
  18. What I find appalling is someone like Alyssa Farah who worked for a train wreck will be given opportunities that so many other qualified women will not. Life is definitely not fair.
  19. I already have it on my reserve list. I wonder if she will doing the talk show rounds promoting it. She writes she iced women out that she thought were competitors. Would love to see one of them interview her.
  20. I always got the mean girl vibe from her. Didn't buy her perkiness for one minute. As much as Katie is telling in her book I bet there is someone out there that has even more to tell about Katie.
  21. I was pretty sure that was you meant because I thought there is no way @sugarbaker design would be advocating for Raven Symone to be brought back.
  22. Yes. Economic success always seems to be measured by how much richer rich people get. Pretty sure that would drive away more viewers than it would attract. See below. Yes. It has been so nice without a screeching harpy at the end of the table. I haven't heard any ratings yet but unless they have completely tanked I think ABC is making enough money off them to continue to let them be the way they are right now.
  23. I swear at this point I am shocked when a man isn't accused of inappropriate behavior.
  24. This is plausible. If it happened the way she said it did wouldn't someone have leaked that? Gossip sites have sources everywhere. I myself am a white woman who is the mother of a biracial child and I can only speak to my experiences. I would never presume to know what my child experiences. Or what any person of color experiences.
