  1. Well.....it just so happened that at that period of time they're supposed to be in......1962-63......you had all these cheese filled male/female duets moving up the pop chart. Made it all that much easier for the British Invasion to happen.
  2. I found the topic referred to.....no more about a new host.....but what I hope to see is that the next taping they do.....with whoever is hosting....to pay tribute to Alex by having a category in both the jeopardy and double jeopardy round and final jeopardy as well....be devoted to Alex.
  3. Ok.....I have one.....of course Ken immediately comes to mind and my first choice would be him. So how about Richard Quest.....not only does he have a great game show host name.....but he had game experience hosting ABC's "500 Questions" a few years back.. I was quite put off when Dan Harris replaced him for season two.....the season Ken Jennings appeared....and didn't exactly kill it.
  4. I got it wrong too....because I remember Romie and Michelle was about two ladies attending their high school reunion so I thought it was that.
  5. So what are the chances of Ken being named host? To me, Alex can't be replaced. But the show will go on and I believe Ken would be best for carrying Alex's legend forward.....assuming he would take the job. The show has only had two regular hosts.....the legendary Art Fleming....who was originally approached by Merv Griffin to host this version....and Alex, the only other man on planet earth who could replace him. So identifying a new host is no small matter. HUUUUGE shoes to fill.
  6. The returning ladies who first appeared and won the $5000 in 1994 had reached the $50,000 level quite easily. They had nearly 50 seconds to find that final item. I think most of you would have thought they'd be crazy NOT to go for it. Unfortunate for them. So when contestants are left with just their cart total....do they get it in cash?
  7. Yeah fine.....but I'm not attracted to bringing back Ken, James, and Brad of Jeopardy fame just to get viewers. And there's no guarantee they'll be any good at it. All one needs to remember is that Ken didn't do so well on 500 Questions despite the assumption that if you master Jeopardy.... there's no tougher challenge for them. All you need to win on jeopardy is to bone up on Shakespeare which to me is useless knowledge.
  8. I thought Julie Bowen's $500,000 question was about as difficult as a $100 question ....I mean what else could you see people in Caracas doing? I certainly can't see them on ziplines....and what people would ride an ostrich or a water buffalo to church? Caracas isn't all that weird. People do roller skate. But you put a life changing amount of money on that question and you find yourself agonizing over it.
  9. I think Monday night at 10 is a lousy time slot. I say either air it at 8 and push the Voice back to 9....or move it to Tuesday at 8.....and air the Tuesday episode of the Voice at 9.
  10. Actually....if Drew let his hair grow out and turn white.....he'd have a seriously Jerry Garcia thing happening. There's no way I'd take a trip with things the way they are.....hopefully the trip is still good in about two years. Drew needs a cardboard cutout for people to hug like Blake Shelton on the Voice. You'd have to keep sanitizing it though.
  11. Congratulations.....I was wondering if anyone even remembered Gameshow Marathon.....Ricki hosted every game of course, making her the only woman to ever host Card Sharks, Let's Make a Deal, Beat the Clock, Family Feud, and Match Game....and the first one on Press Your Luck before Elizabeth Banks. On Ricki's episode.....Paige Davis set a record that may or may not have happened before or after during the course of the series.....she hit the nickel TWICE on the big wheel....for a grand total of a dime!!!! I don't think you can do worse.
  12. Trivia Google search game:. First to post correct answer wins....here's the question: Since the Price is Right was revived in 1972....six people have hosted....Bob Barker, Dennis James, Tom Kennedy, Doug Davidson, and Drew Carey are five.....the sixth was a female....who is she for the win?
  13. Week two of "Sweep" saw a decline. From 4.8 mil viewers to 3.6. A 25% decline. America's Funniest Videos as the lead in program ahead of Sweep had 4.7 mil viewers so people tuned out. Perhaps the fact that the Tampa Bay Rays scored a dramatic win in Saturday nights game 4 got people amped for baseball again because it enjoyed its highest number in years. SNF featuring your Seattle Seahawks did better than last week. So too for 60 minutes.
  14. Oh my GOD! The episode I saw today was a new all time ulcer inducer. I don't remember ever seeing this as I was away from TV for almost all of 1980. I knew there was a Valentine's singing episode earlier in the series......but this.....this was an ultimate chuckup fest. It looked like a Sid and Marty Kroft very bad varierty show like the Brady Bunch hour with EXTRA cheese. Who told Ted McGinley he could sing? And Fonzie with that stupid speech.....why am I even watching this now?
  15. I guess they're trying to keep things as normal as possible. They rebuilt the set so the contestants row podiums are six feet apart and Drew will no longer stand above them. I guess contestants will be kept backstage until their call to "come on down". All 77 pricing games will be available....the big wheel will be sanitized between every contestant and they will use hand sanitizer before they spin. Don't know if there's a TV monitor audience. I guess people will have to think for themselves now as there's no audience to shout advice to them.
  16. I don't imagine football does too well among female viewers.
  17. There's still one thing I wonder about regarding the rules. If in the bonus sweep....the money is found without having solved the riddles....do they win? Because on David's version....he never actually said they had to solve the clues first....just that you had to have the money in your hands before the Bell. Because if it were me out there.... I'd claim the money and say I won.
  18. Supermarket Sweep's debut episode pulled a 1.0 rating with 4.8 million viewers against the heavyweight competition of both the NLCS Game 7 and Sunday Night Football. Pretty good.
  19. Having Leslie Jones be a absolute junkie for this show is what made this happen. And she's worked her butt off.....I appreciate all that. All the reason why you stick with what worked. I liked the brand logo recognition game....I like that they start at two minutes. I didn't care for extending the bonus game....just have them do the three items in 60 seconds for like $20,000. Leslie's style will take getting used to if you're used to David, but that's just Leslie. Give her a chance. Still.....drop the inept employee angle.....the contestants can screw it all up WITHOUT extra help.
  20. It actually plays out more like a SNL skit based on Supermarket Sweep rather than the emphasis being on the actual game We don't need inept employees or flirtatious cashier's.
  21. And the male contestant from the second match should be invited back because he lost his match on that equal value card glitch where he couldn't have been right either way. And the lady players deck seemed awfully perfectly laid out in easy hi lo calls. At least "Deal" has the basic strategy of making as much money off a potentially low value case as possible. It's a minefield of doubt compared to the brainless money cards played here.
  22. It just looks really dumb to have the contestant guess higher or lower if the value is equal and no matter what they say they lose. Don't they have time to rehearse this game before they tape to make sure it actually works? Unwatchable. One thing is for sure....any numbskull can play this....it's just all luck.....the contestants will never show any guts and bet against the odds.
  23. The celebrities are boring and they make the questions too easy for them because it's for "charity". Yawn. I believe we are all essential in some way. But they make it sound like we all owe something to these "frontline" people just for doing their job. So I guess now those of us not considered essential can't try out for this anymore. But what we can do is CLICK!
  24. As a long time fan.....this version just doesn't connect for me. Nice try.
