I hope you stay together! In the description of this reboot it's stated about Miranda: "She has quit corporate law after 30 years and is going back to school to get a Masters in human rights to pair with her law degree, "so hopefully I can become an advocate for women who need one." Yet at Che's gathering of the grandparents Miranda hears that Che is going to L.A. to do a pilot and she says pilot? I don't know what that is?🙄 These writers!

There was a DailyMail article out today that states SJP wouldn't want Catrall to come back lol https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-10474023/Sarah-Jessica-Parker-says-does-NOT-want-Kim-Cattrall-Just-Like-That.htmlere

Ugh! I'd rather watch Che's standup than Charlotte's fake manic over the top beyond atrocious "acting"! When Che started singing I cringed and thought please don't let this last long. Other than not being funny, I don't have anything against Che. Che has a beautiful smile and charisma. It's all Miranda, or rather Cynthia Nixon and MPK who I blame for ruining this SATC revival by insisting they tell the Cynthia Nixon story. Yes, I skimmed an article that called it a revival as well as...get this: season 7 of SATC! Those two things plus arguably the funniest most watchable part of the quartet being a no show were plenty enough to ruin it. That plus the writers focusing on telling their own stories and answering past criticisms of the show having lacked diversity and just generally virtue signalling all over the place made it nearly unwatchable. Only to those who have to stay up on everything SATC and have plenty of time on their hands.```raises hand`` As long as I'm expressing my musical opinions (which I'm sure no one cares about..lol)... No offense to anyone who likes him or the song, but I was incredulous in ep 1 that Big's (who would've lived through the music of the 60's +70"s and beyond) favorite song was Todd Rundgren's Hello It's Me??? The dancing with Carrie to Moon River was part of him sharing a memory of his parents "who had the moves" hitting the town to go dancing, That it was "not corny, classic". I just have to believe he was into better music. He'd have been the age of a baby boomer, right? None that I know listen to Moon River or Hello It's Me.

Earlier I thought of something good to say about AJLT. Failure to Launch was on and I came in midway yhrough and still noted 3 of SJP's obnoxious screams. I don't count that little squeal she let out in ep one when the girls were told their table was ready... so there's that: we got all the way through it with no screaming. I thought Carrie looked great all season. I think she still has a youthful look, except for when we have to see sad distraught withdrawn Carrie, like in the first few episodes or when they pull her hair back so severely. With her slight frame she can really wear some clothes! Although with a sky's the limit budget, it's surprising how few times I saw her wear anything that I loved and wished I had access to. Certainly not that cantaloupe colored taffetta monstrosity! IDK what she could've worn to improve that look instead of the pink gloves, but maybe she should've taken Big to the bridge in that beaded Judith Lieber swan purse instead of the Eiffel Tower shaped one! I thought that cranberry red dress Miranda wore to Rock's party enlivened her complexion. That rust brown garment worn with little make up and her back to red hair transformation... not so much. If that was meant to depict sassy carefree Miranda, they missed the mark. These comments are pretty superficial; I know, but I feel like the most interesting part of the episode was only suggested... the meet up with Samantha. Though she agreed to meet Carrie the next night, we never got to see or hear about what happened.

When Miranda said to Carrie you really think Big is in heaven, I thought for a moment she was going to touch on all that angst Big put her through before he decided to marry her... but then I quickly thought: no one would do that to someone still so raw and in the early stages of the grieving process. On the other hand, Carrie's kissing the teacher and the podcast producer already? Jeez, if she'd have sparked with Seema's cousin? the surgeon she'd be having her pick of every single attractive fit dude in his 50's in NYC! That freaking ball gown! Ridiculous is right! So our new billionairess goes out and buys what's no doubt a designer ball gown and coordinating accessories and an updo to go with it,to walk on a bridge in Paris and release Big's ashes... No doubt, never to be worn again. Yet, she takes a lamp into a shop for repair and spends her time traveling there and back (probably by private car), where nowadays even people living on modest means would most likely call Amazon and have a new lamp on the doorstep next day for under 20 bucks? [unless they're really about that low/no waste life] I really thought the reaching out to Samantha and getting a yes back would come last? How are they just going to have Carrie back in New York doing the podcast without clueing us in as to how that went? Rock should've been clear about not doing the "theymitzvah" before the day and all the expense and people traveling to Harry and Charlotte's. Even if AJLT is supposed to be a year or two after the pandemic I'll bet people aren't too thrilled to be in crowds that big, maskless and all. Lots and lots of crap I could have done without. The lamp BS, the meeting with the brother and that awful dialogue, Miranda Hobbs starring in the Cynthia Nixon story and that includes Che's singing, the wedding of some people we hardly know, everything to do with the Goldenblatts... heck I didn't even care much for Anthony in this ep. It's nice Seema has a new dude. E showed the episode with him as Tony the Prada salesman earlier today. Andre is just wrong for leaving the professor uncertain about whether he wants to stay together. I didn't have it in me to watch the documentary right after the finale...maybe tonight.Did you?

IDK if I were Carrie if I'd ever care to see Alex again, that could be pretty awkward for both of them. I hadn't even thought of it, though. 🤔 Berger 😝never cared for him. I didn't think much of the teacher the first time they met up, but I actually teared up when Carrie hugged him instead of shaking his hand. They might be good together and they're shown kissing in the finale promo.
-
I really can't believe they're going to have Carrie go to Paris to release Big's ashes, but I guess that's what was hinted at when it was written somewhere that they're omitting the scenes with a look back at Carrie and Big together in Paris because of the allegations made against Chris Noth. Seems the flashbacks were going to accompany Carrie releasing his ashes there? If Carrie was in Paris, perhaps for some other reason... I could see her calling Samantha in London and suggesting a make up / meet up and going on a celebratory Paris shopping spree together. ...but again, Kim Catrall was too smart to get involved in this mess.

I was just rewatching parts of this episode and Carrie slipped her wedding ring on and then Big's. When she removed them after her talk with Steve she took off his first and then hers. If she'd have put Big's on and then hers, his ring wouldn't have fallen down the drain.

ahh. forgot to add being discerning to the choices. I admire that!

And Just Like That... The Documentary Trailer Gives A Window Into The Shaping Of The New Series by Valerie Ettenhofer 1/31/22 "The whirlwind event that was "And Just Like That..." season 1 is coming to an end, and HBO Max is celebrating the finale with a documentary about the "Sex and the City" reunion series. A new trailer takes viewers inside some of the casting and costuming of the new season, plus shows plenty of footage of the actresses reuniting. And Just Like That...The Documentary" will drop on the streamer on February 3, the same day as the season's final episode. The behind-the-scenes look at the show seems exciting and nostalgic, and possibly like it would've framed the show in a more positive light for viewers if it had come out earlier. The new season has been heavily scrutinized by fans and critics alike, with Miranda's (Cynthia Nixon) plotline and the writing of new character Che (Sara Ramirez) gaining some of the heaviest criticism. The cast and crew of the series are all smiles in the documentary, though. In one snippet, Nixon sits at a restaurant table with Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristin Davis and says the group is one day away from filming. "Even 23 years in, I'm excited," Parker says, before adding, "terrified and excited." We also get a peek inside the writers room, where the team behind the series comes up with the idea for Charlotte's menopause plot. In voiceover, someone behind the scenes calls Parker "so tactile," and we're treated to a short montage of her and other cast members trying on potential outfits from the series' massive wardrobe department. The group seems really happy with the shooting experience, whether they're discussing new cast members, Nixon's turn in the director's chair (she directed the episode "Diwali"), or how exciting it feels to simply hear someone yell "action." This documentary is all well and good, but its most important part seems to be emblazoned on the official poster–and snuck into the trailer's YouTube description. "This season may be ending, but we're not done yet," the YouTube caption reads, while the poster for the documentary is subtitled "A behind the scenes look at the making of the first season." First season, eh? "And Just Like That..." has often been billed as a limited series, but as it draws closer to its finale, there have been murmurs about a possible season 2. Ahead of a renewal announcement, these descriptions in the official documentary marketing materials are the next best proof that the show will go on. The "And Just Like That..." finale and making-of documentary will air on HBO Max February 3. SATC vs AJLT: Compare & Contrast….what were they thinking?
T Summer replied to Scarlett45's topic in And Just Like That
That episode "Boy Girl, Boy Girl" stuck out to me like a sore thumb because it seemed like the writers inserted some words in the actresses' mouths they'd never utter. Someone who writes a sex column certainly knows that there are people who are all kinds of things in between strictly heterosexual and strictly homosexual. Give me an f'ing break!🙄 -
I know I know... I'm just in disbelief. Being as he is Big's brother and he was at the memorial and he spoke, When he asks where's John? why does Carrie say he died? Instead of he's in my closet while I'm deciding where he would have wanted to spend eternity? and of course he replies I know John he died. Where are his remains? It's just more crappy writing IMO.
-
It's killing me because she's looking right in his eyes like she's delivering the news for the first time.

Does anyone have any insight as to why on earth in the promo Carrie is telling that man with the wavy gray hair who is Big's older brother (who led her to her seat at the funeral and spoke right after Miranda) that he died?

SATC vs AJLT: Compare & Contrast….what were they thinking?
T Summer replied to Scarlett45's topic in And Just Like That
Yeah, F' that narrative whatever the genesis is! She's beautiful, in great shape, has a very prestigious job: Columbia law Professor, higher earnings than most (like 2-3 x) and in addition to letting her husband pursue his dream, here's another consideration: who do we think has more job related stress and demands on their time after hours? He should be very happy and consider himself lucky to have HER! -
SATC vs AJLT: Compare & Contrast….what were they thinking?
T Summer replied to Scarlett45's topic in And Just Like That
I have to admit I thought the EXACT same thing!(minus the word black) If they've been together 15 years I have to imagine Andre and Naya would've discussed whether they both wanted children when they got together. Whilst I sympathized watching Andre express a pang of sadness watching Herbert in a warm fatherly moment with his children, and I can appreciate that sometimes people's feelings change... I think Andre has a whole lot of blessings he could be counting. He's been able to pursue his heart's desire being a musician, something a lot of people have to forgo in favor of taking up a profession with greater and more reliable earnings. Especially a man who has a wife to support. OK things are changing. and in this instance Naya is the major breadwinner and all parties seem fine with that. A man expecting to have a wife and children??? In one of the most expensive cities in the world??? Absolutely would need to prioritize higher and steadier earnings. That's not a sexist or massively traditional view but rather a practical one, as the woman will have time out of the workforce having and caring for those children. When she reenters the workforce (if that's what they decide on) then childcare will add to their expenses. If he'd have done that and they were a family with children he wouldn't have been able to be a musician. He'd have had to get his enjoyment playing music during hours spent on recreation, if he could carve any out. So I agree, if someone allowed me to pursue my dream and not have to worry about making the rent I'd be pretty grateful and IDK how I'd ask more of them. How much more he's asking also depends on some unknown factors, as we don't know Naya's age on the show and we don't know what Naya's doctor has to say about her having children at this point. He or she must have been ok with it at one point as previous attempts at IVF were mentioned, but we don't how long ago that was and as she gets older it could be harder on her body. -
When I put myself through listening to 3 of those Inside the writer's room podcasts with MPK where he has discussions with the writers, he emphasized having always checked in with G.L.A.A.D. during the writing process. it's @29:00 in the video below if you want to hear his exact words: from the G.L.A.A.D. website "Our WorkLeading the conversation. Shaping the media narrative. Changing the culture. That’s how GLAAD accelerates acceptance for LGBTQ people."

Oh, puh-lease! Being as Ms Blue Jay sat you down, Lea DeLaria... I haven't read or heard one single person state the thing they hold against Che is gender non-binary. status... to a person they state it's Che' s non-comedic status. Nor have I encountered anyone stating they dislike Miranda being with someone gender non-binary. Lea DeLaria is reaching straight up their own ass attempting to attribute some narrow-minded, hate fueled attitude as having colored the audience's judgement. Nope, EVERYONE objects to Miranda being portrayed as not having the decency to tell her partner of 20 years she wants to end her marriage and be free to pursue a different life...The f'ing nerve! @%#?$#&@. We object to the rewrite being done to the character, Miranda. We spent 6 years+ getting to know her as a decent thoughtful person who doesn't just kick people aside when she no longer has use for them. It's not our fault that MPK + the team can't write for shite. So ego driven are they, that they seek to include the experiences, traits and statuses of those in their own immediate circle in this what is supposed to be a SATC reboot. Because the writers and their experiences are just so interesting and important that they should supersede what we, the viewing audience tuned in for, right? MPK + the team can't even write when given a template... 6 years of established characters with a backstory, the series comes with the incalculable gift of a huge built-in fanatically loyal audience that MPK + the writers haven't even been able to repel with two horrendous moneygrabs masquerading as films. One worse than the other. All they had to do was show us where their lives took them over the last decade and a half. Any 4 posters here probably could have done a better job of it. At least we wouldn't have had to obliterate what was known and loved about the main characters to do it. ...and we'd have sprinkled in a bit of humor. here and there.

Oh good, I'm glad I didn't do anything wrong. You are so right about Big probably not liking that artsy fartsy lightbox memorial whateveritwas. More importantly he'd probably much prefer his ashes to be: 1. WITH CARRIE, possibly with intentions of being interred or scattered together later 2. in a favorite place in NYC, the city where he made his fortune and attained his status 3. at the Napa vineyard if he found peace + beauty there 4. where he grew up [that's his brother who was at the memorial Carrie is telling " he died" in the promo possibly a familial burial plot / near mother + father etc. these writers 🙄 Did someone upthread say they saw Miranda with red hair in the meeting Che's grandmother scene? I didn't see it.

IDK why the trailer isn't up? as far as I know there isn't any rule against posting it, right? Mods If you didn't want it posted yet, just remove (not that you need my permission.lol) Going to hide it under a spoiler tag, if possible

Was it mentioned what Andre does for a living? Did I imagine him being a musician? -
Just think of how much better the writing could have been... AND Think of how much time there could have been saved for storytelling if everything to do with bodily functions could have been stricken from this whole premiere season!

THANK YOU!

Weren't those some great clothes she wore in that series (if you saw it)? I Googled right before I posted and info on her height and size varied wildly from site to site. Different links I encountered gave her height as 5.6, 5.7 and 5.8 and some of the sites with stats and photos look to be from an earlier time when she was considerably slimmer than she was on In Treatment s 4. In those photos I'd have guessed a 10, 12. photo on L is at gala to honor Hilary Clinton 2015. On R is from 2017 photo on L from 2021. on R doing a talk show appearance in 2021 to promote In Treatment:
