  1. @Jeesbus Cripes "Forgiveness... It's more than sayin' sorry..."
  2. I did not like the lead character, Ben Rappaport. The supporting characters should have been the leads. People were confused if this was based on the movie by the same name. Apparently the movie was a very different tone.
  3. Karyn Parsons, aka Hilary Banks from Fresh Prince of Bel Air. She has been trying to get the word out about her new buisness, it would get her a lot of attention and she still looks great! I feel like Fresh Prince is one of the few 90's shows that hasn't cashed in all possible nostalgia points.
  4. That's what I was thinking. I liked that show a lot because my parents got divorced around the time it was airing. There weren't a lot of night time "soaps" during then.
  5. New Girl vs. Mindy Project Jake Johnston, Lamorne Morris, Zooey Deschanel or Hannah Simone Ike Barinholtz, Jeremy Weeks, Mindy Kaling or Xosha Roquemore. (No Adam Pally unless he plays for team Happy Endings) I think Mindy and Zooey are too busy/famous to do the show. But the supporting characters are all funny people.
  6. Liz Lemon turned 40 halfway through the series, and they did try and conceive when she was about 42.
  7. First thing, I am not sure I've ever seen a Tyler Perry movie. "Why did I get married?" may be a Tyler Perry movie, and I saw that one. But only same race couples. Second thing, I didn't expand my statement very well. I meant movies that don't obsess over the fact that the couple is interracial. Because Ashton Kutcher was in a movie with Bernie Mac called "Guess Who?" which has an interracial couple as the lead characters but focuses on their differences the entire time. You are right though. The movies are being made, and I'm just not seeing them.
  8. It would be nice to have romantic leads of different races. I can't think of any in recent memory (but I will admit that I haven't seen a ton of movies).
  9. If it makes you feel better, we never had prom king/queen. Only homecoming king/queen. I'm realizing that seems like the same thing, but it felt quite different. We definitely had cheerleaders though, never too late!
  10. We definitely had to wait for the teacher's permission. Just long enough for them to finish their thought. But we all stopped listening when the bell rang.
  11. Well, lucindabelle, I look forward to a day when you can feel represented on TV. I sure am racking my brain trying to come up with any TV character that fits your description. Nothing! Liz Lemon from 30 Rock, maybe? That's all I've got...
  12. Did you like it? I saw it this past weekend as well. It seems like there were more SNL folks in the movie, but maybe they were just SNL-adjacent (Paul Rudd, Ellie Kemper, Ken Marino, Jason Mantzoukas, Michael Ian Black and so on).
  13. "And I will be providing my world-famous... $100 lap dances" - April (The debate episode) "Hi ya’ll! I’m Trish. I’m 22 years old. I’ve been on YouTube. I just, I love to hang out with my friends. I love to laugh. I love the summertime, and going to the beach. And I love... wearing bikinis at the beach with... everyone there." (Beauty Pageant Episode)
  14. Their names are Rosemary, Dill and Olive? Amazing! Did the son have a food name too?
  15. The parents of Emma Stone's character, Olive, in Easy A. Played by Stanley Tucci and Patricia Richardson.
  16. What makes you think that? Pure speculation right?
  17. Retta and Nicole Byer both posted it on twitter last week. Thanks for sharing it here :-)
  18. Absolutely. Everyone should be represented. Biracial people (or people of any color/combination) shouldn't stop getting roles either. Hollywood, and whatever we call the TV industry, need to make room for both. There isn't a clear line to draw, so let's not. The question is, how we get more black actresses on TV?
  19. They Came Together starring Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd. It opens OnDemand tomorrow. Cast also includes: Cobie Smulders, Max Greenfield, Christopher Meloni, Ellie Kemper, Ed Helms, Jason Mantzoukas, Michaela Watkins, and Michael Ian Black.
  20. Strong Female Characters can come in a lot of forms. They aren't always bossypants lawyers or whatever. Totally agree with Sweet Tea about them being well rounded. They have to be good to their friends and they need to have layers. It's best when they have just as much substance as the male characters. I guess I know it when I see it. Cobalt Stargazer, they have to have flaws. It is 100% subjective.
  21. Of course girls play sports and several times she was mistaken for a boy. I'm just saying that Robin was a normal girl who accomplished a lot. Then in the later seasons they explain it away by saying she was basically a boy. I just personally would have liked a richer back-story for a strong woman character. The lazy writing is what turned Robin into a trope.
  22. They took off Memorial Day (week) and they don't air new episodes on Fridays. I can't be mad, they didn't invent summer break. But, I hate waiting so long!
  23. I think they make it pretty traumatic for a sitcom. Her dad wanted her to be a boy, and when she wasn't, he still treated her like one. Maybe I misread the relationship with her father in Season 8, but it seemed unpleasant.
