  1. we planted a very small vegi garden the other day and them today some plants in the yard. its looking pretty good around here. of course the wind comes up every afternoon and the heat is around the corner so its mostly a wasted effort but hey, we tried.
  2. i regularly go there -- they are great.
  3. thought i would check in and say hi. i have been busy the last couple of weeks and although i read here sometimes, i haven't really been writing. my back is sore again (tried to do a tiny bit of yard work this morning and viola!) so i am now sitting at my desk. soon we are 'leaving on a jet plane' to do a long weekend with the kids in Texas. #1 grand is turning 16 so we wanted to surprise him. 16 is a big deal in the life of a kid so we didn't want to miss it. i am excited to see them all. in the last couple of days i have literally been told by my primary doctor that i am too old for hernia surgery and too old for certain medicines that can help my headaches. the nerve of this doctor!!! feeling a need to have tulips here so i might just head up to the nursery and get me some new plants -- tulips, gardenia, sweet peas, carnations and whatever i might see. i know nothing about tulips btw, so who knows if they are even in season. does homemade lasagna sound good? might be what's for dinner tonight!
  4. same here. my husband goes into the ER when his Afib acts up. mine is somehow being managed by one of the many Rx i take. husband 'forgets' to refill his meds and then has issues. also, i am very compliant with cpap but dont sleep well at all and wake up exhausted most days. husband is being screened to see if he can do that Inspire implant. he does not use his cpap all the time - it bothers him. we are surely getting old --- many silly complaints over here.
  5. who are these people? i dont understand - what is girl defined?
  6. removing satan from this earth and never again having any influence over us.
  7. replying in regard to the comments in jill's thread about praying: i am trying to not get political and get in trouble but this is history happening in front of our eyes so: i can only speak for myself here but i believe that God hears my prayers and will honor them in the best way He sees fit. so, in fact, i did not share 'praying hands' or 'i will pray'. what i did do however, is legitimately pray and i literally prayed on facebook via my written words. if other folks know that we are concerned, that's what starts donations and volunteerism and makes change. my words asked for safety for the Ukrainian people and even for the Russian folks that are being targeted because they disagree with what their leader is doing. i asked for intervention on behalf of the innocent ones. i believe God himself hears our prayers and will intervene in our behalf, regardless of if we are Catholic, born again Christian or Jewish or whatever. He hears our cry. God loves and chooses each of us and wants to respond to us. God doesn't create the chaos, but sometimes He has to allow it to unfold to achieve the final victory. and that is wiping satan and his helpers from the face of the world. so yes, praying itself is helpful. just posting praying hands and doing nothing else is really just for show. IMHO
  8. taking my thoughts to the smalltalk thread.
  9. it was my understanding that JB had certain kids attend the trial on certain days. obviously i have no proof of that. i got that info from this site. and you are correct about michelle but do we know if she ever crosses him about anything?
  10. regarding michelle and the trial.....isnt it very likely that JB instructed her NOT to attend at all? i know he told the kids to be there but i wonder if JB told her not to be there so she was left 'innocent' of the info about josh. so i guess what i am getting at is that maybe she wanted to attend but was not allowed to be there? thoughts.....
  11. back to the cleaning out houses convo, i am one of those who worries about what my kids will have to dig through. i wish i could say that i have narrowed it down, but i have much work to do ahead of me. i got off to a great start and then slacked off. i am the only one who sews in the family and i have 3 machines and 2 sergers. i have boxes of fabric and notions and patterns. i am a book hoarder too but i am getting better there. i collect roosters and american flag decor so there's a lot of that, too much probably. point is, i have a lot although it doesnt look like it (its all neat and orderly). i need to get back on the clean-out bandwagon.
  12. i had a similar incident this week. i often order clothes out of a catalog - this time it was new jeans. when i opened my box with 5 of the 6 pairs i bought, there was a winter coat inside the box as well. and it basically fits too. there is not a phone number on the bill of sale so i need to get a catalog out and see if there is a phone number to call. if they are anything like amazon, they will tell me to keep it.
  13. i was noticing how relaxed and happy michelle looked in those photos. maybe she is glad that all the trial stuff is over and she can let her guard down now, especially since JB is no where in sight.
  14. we went to the movie on saturday morning. there were 7 people, mostly masked. it was a pick-your-own-seats-off-a-screen type. so we picked ours way over on the other side of the theater from the rest, right? wouldn't you know that #6 and #7 were two very nice guys with lots of snacks to eat.....and they sat DIRECTLY in front of us. the other 3 people were in the furthest reaches of the theater, apart from each other. oh, in case you wonder, we saw Redeeming Love, based off the book written by Francine Rivers. it was really good, well done and definitely conveyed the message of the book. there is violence and some minor suggestive nudity but saying that, there is no direct nudity. it is best not for younger kids due to subject matter, IMHO.
  15. yes, san diego has all the same limitations as los angeles. i live near both areas. just ordered my covid tests ad picked up the N95 masks that are now being required rather than the fabric masks or medical masks. the senior center gave us 5 each. as for around my area, you do see people masking but there are outliers as well that prefer to go without. our sheriff is not enforcing the mask mandate (too many other more important things to be doing like arresting murderers etc) and therefore it up to the person to mind the rules. i will be interested to learn the venue they are gonna use for the lawson/tiffy wedding. there is a beautiful place north of san diego proper but still in that county that is gorgeous for outdoor weddings. some one post when you figure it out.
  16. i just ordered our tests too. thanks for the update.
  17. Tur thats great news on your birthday. i had mine done when i was very young - 29. to be honest for Ijustwantsomechips, that first year was hard to adjust for me but mostly emotionally. (i had 4 little kids at home between age 1-8). they left me one ovary to avoid full menopause BUT started me on hormones anyway. it was a rough adjustment that first year of back and forth dosages. all that said, i would HANDS DOWN do it again tomorrow if i needed to. it gave me my life back. i dont know your age, but if they offer you the hormone cream to insert nightly, take that. it helps avoid basically the shriveling up of your vagina ( can i say that?). they should have told me that years ago and it would have saved me lots of pain and trouble. but in the end, its worth it.
  18. interesting. my texas kid tested glaringly positive. her symptoms are runny nose, sneezing and scratchy throat. this is her 2nd time catching covid in 3 months. she says she feels fine. she has to have a 5 day 'quarantine' from work. grandson was sent home from school a few days ago with fever and headache. he tested negative.
  19. to be honest, we live in a rental and we are putting some money into it to make it how we want it to be, with approval from the owners. however we are not spending 50,000 dollars or whatever jessa is investing. and we have the option to buy this house if we so choose to. so it would not be wasted money spent here for us. and the owners have cautioned us not to put a lot of oney into it so we are being very choosy as to what we do. we have no plans to move in the foreseeable future and they dont want us to.
  20. @Westiepeach, that is so hard. i am a big believer in the power of prayer and so i will talk to God about your cousin. it is scary to imagine that situation she is in. i have become very conscious of exposure and taking precautions again. i had relaxed a bit but not any more. some person at church hugged me yesterday and THEN proceeded to tell me that he and his wife had had covid -- she was still sick but he was 'all better'. i was not a happy person at that moment. i just prayed that God would keep me healthy.
  21. hello everyone. its been a while. you may recall i was out of town. we flew to texas to surprise our grandkids on christmas morning. it was worth the hassle to see the looks on all the faces! we had a lovely week visit and did all outdoor activities. saw a few masks worn in town but not many. it was beautiful shorts weather all week. then, on new years day we prepared to fly home. it was mid 70's outside, right? we arrived at the airport early and it was 72+ outside. by the time our flight took off about 3 hours later it was less than 40 degrees outside and they got snow by the next morning. we dodged a bullet there. home now, celebrated second christmas on sunday with our local kids and then spent monday and tuesday de-christmasing the house and rearranging furniture. today -- i am toast! still have a lot of junk to organize and clean put but hey, i started! so glad to be here reading all your updates. and for good measure - i shut my thumb in the two french doors of my refrigerator and now i have a black/blue thumbnail peeking out from the edge of my polish and it hurts a bit. ps: so far my household is all healthy!!!
