  1. my husband has a new rav 4 (within the last less than 12 months) and he loves it. i dont. one thing to be aware of is the rear view mirror. his is a camera view from much like you see when your car goes in reverse and your nav screen shows whats behind you. it distorts your view -- in other words you cant tell how far away the car behind you is. and i havent found an option to make it a real mirror that works. there is a way to 'switch 'it but it isnt very good. and at night in the swtiched mode, forget seeing. so it is an adjustment to get used to. like i said, hubby loves it though. he got a hybrid and loves the gas value.
  2. hadnt heard about this one! how scary.
  3. no duggers at this gender reveal? flying the heli maybe but where are the rest of them?
  4. two of us got our moderna bi-valent (?) booster yesterday. feeling ok as far as that goes today. however, remember that little blurb about having to help my son move from last week when i had the migraine and needed to get over it? i think God was trying to get my attention and i failed to listen. i ended up falling with the FIRST thing i picked up to load for him, fell backwards flat on my back and hit the tile floor full on. the curio that i was sharing the load of lifting literally landed on top of me. one head CT scan and 6 lower back/hip xrays later, i am bruised and beaten but not broken. i am resigning from the moving crew, effective immediately. one week later, my leg is still very bruised and i am moving slow and sitting gently. but hey, my migraine went away! 😆
  5. just checking by to say hi. this week was a write off due to a migraine from hell. started monday late afternoon and leveled me all week. i took all the meds i could and slept a lot but i still have the shadow of it in the back of my head. hoping to feel more like myself tomorrow. i have things scheduled for the day then that need to be done so its rest today and start early tomorrow.
  6. i haven't done one yet, just the tie quilt. its at the quilter now. all i have done is a couple of small lap size quilts.
  7. hello friends, just watched a tutorial about scrappy quilting. it was actually pretty interesting. i didn't join the guild because i cant see me doing it more than once or twice -- the style is not really me, although there is room for expression in it. i did, however, order and receive this 'quilt builder card deck' ---essentially like a recipe card box with each card being a quilt block with all the details on size and fabric needed to make 'endless possibilities' of patterns of quilts. i was curious and had seen it advertised on my phone and so i went to amazon to get it. it looks like it will be helpful to me if i really get into this quilting stuff. i can assure you tho -- no more tie quilts!!!! on another note, i found a new author that i am enjoying. she writes christian fiction (some amish, some not). i just finished my first series of hers and liked it so much i ordered more. her name is Suzanne Woods Fisher. if you enjoy decent stories without the heavy 'preaching' but with good values, and interesting storylines, you might enjoy her writing. finally, i was at Sprouts shopping and found a new grape! has anyone ever tried these oval (?) shaped seedless, dark colored grapes called moon drop (formerly know as witches fingers per my friend)? they are so different tasting and unexpected but good. we tried the cotton candy grapes too -- very sweet. well, thats all i have today. hope ya'll are well.
  8. i am in between the two socal fires and we got the smoke earlier this week. got a little rain but not enough to really help anything. not sure about the ash -- havent been outside yet!
  9. well, my quilt finally went off to the quilter today. i should have it back in a month or so. then i have to do the binding and thats it! will be glad to call it finished. it is so AWFUL hot here that i am not going to do anything today but chill, watch tv and sit inside. cali is under flex-alerts again today (day#7 i believe) so in 20 minutes i have to shut down all the main energy users (IE: dont cook/bake, wash clothes or dishwashers, raise up the AC etc) and sit in my darkened house and just relax. last i looked it was 110 degrees outside. i just fear the fires.
  10. thank you! yes, thats them...all by themselves out in a field off the main highway.
  11. much like the cadillacs just outside of amarillo texas (i think it is). they are all spray painted and there are spray cans there at the site for each person to add their own touch. if i knew how to add a photo, i would!
  12. had a dugger moment this weekend. we were in church and our pastor was doing a bit of fun including the kiddos. he had us singing a version of the 'J-O-Y' song. i immediately heard michele's little girl voice saying ' now children, remember --Jesus first , then others aaaand then.... yourself!
  13. i agree with 'get the hysterectomy' and find out what life without all the hassle is like. i did it at age 29 (i think) and will honestly say hormonally the first year was a bit rough adjusting at such a young age but i have been fine since then. no regrets. i had the abdominal surgery, had 4 little kids at home including a literal 1 year old and i did pretty well recovering. just rest when you need and do what you are told about not pushing the vacuum etc and you will do fine!
  14. i really dislike seeing campus crusade for Christ and the rod family in the same sentence. two very different animals.
  15. did you tag them the way the instructions said to or just left them like we see? nice job! i was driving yesterday in a mountainous area and thought how cool it would have been to have left some along the trails up there to be found.
  16. not here....we JUST got down to less than $6..... i saw $5.5? around today.

  19. i have been somewhat distracted away from here for most of my free time lately. i am working on a huge project that my brother asked me to do for him. he sent me a box of neckties that he had worn over the last 40+ years for employment and asked if i could stitch them into a queen size quilt. stupidly, over-confidently, (naively) i said yes, i am capable of that; i have sewed since i was about 12 years old. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that was such an over estimate of my skills. however, with help from three quilty friends, i am on my way to getting it done. it has been such a source of angst for me. i FINALLY have all the ties processed, cut into strips and some have been sewn into long strips (think jelly rolls, if you quilt). i made my own version of a quilt wall to hang the strips so i can visualize the rows and now i am ready to join them all up. when it comes to the actual quilting part, i am farming that part out. i had no idea what i was getting myself into but i sure am learning a lot and having some kind of fun too. i need to be finished for delivery by october so i am gonna be busy for a while.
  20. i get it. i go out my front door multiple times a day to check the mountain across the street for signs of smoke. i dread the thought of another fire there but its inevitable. and yes, i keep my house closed up most of the time for the same reasons. i work to breath on a good day so, yeah.
  21. same here, the drought. gonna be humid and hot here again today. right now, it is nice out but its not quite 6a.m. !!
  22. on another note, my computer is being dumb and i got locked out of my regular sites. i tried to signing here and got locked out for 15 minutes. finally i realized i had signed in here with my email and not my screen name. DUH! my son usually helps me with s\this stuff but i dot want to need him any more so i am trying to learn to clear up the screw ups myself. not doing to well at that! 🤪
  23. i have a stainless steel black and decker that is 4 SLICER AND IT WORKS GREAT. PROBABLY GOT IT AT LOEWS (sorry for the caps) or at target.
