  1. Valerie was on the Today show this morning, with Hoda. I was kind of taken aback by how big she has gotten. She is usually only seen from the waist up on her cooking show, on Today it was a full-length shot. She kind of fell back when she sat in the chair. She was wearing black pants and a big black long-sleeved top but you could see how big her stomach was below the top. Sorry to be so snarky, but she looked like hell, her face looked puffy and she was crying and her eye make-up was starting to run. Of course she talked about Ed and Wolfie. Hoda complimented her on being such a forgiving person, but she (Valerie) said no, that was actually not the case with this divorce she is going through. Said she will never marry again (or even love again) because she has "trust issues." She did a chicken thigh recipe and said she doesn't know what the future holds as far as Food Network, after the next season. I wonder if she is getting some help, because she clearly seems to be in a bad place.
  2. Over 40 years ago, I had a baby that died two days after birth. I had had a c-section; they wheeled me down to the nursery where I was able to hold her for a few minutes after she died. Honestly, my young husband and I (we were in our early 20's) were so unprepared for this that, had they offered me another baby to take home, I probably would have done it. There was no counseling offered, just told to go home and get over it. Fortunately I did have another child at home waiting for me. Since that time, I have heard of organizations that will come in and take pictures of the baby (if you wish), help you make any arrangements that need to be made. Again - at that time, no one talked about this stuff and no one thinks the worst is going to happen. I look back and wish there had been someone or something like that for me. Crazy thoughts go through your mind. Believe me, I am a normal person, but my sister-in-law was pregnant at the time and I thought that maybe if she had twins, she would give one to me. Thank goodness for the passage of time, it does help. Thanks for letting me share this, I rarely talk to anyone about it and many people I know have no idea this happened to me, so many years ago.
  3. I played it back a few times, and it was definitely a hand squeeze.
  4. Yes, that explains it. Thanks.
  5. I re-watched the episode today, and it was so much better understanding who the other family was from the beginning this time, instead of trying to figure out who they were. The writers definitely were trying to mess with us, making it look like Deja was going to end up with Marcus. I wasn't reading, texting or doing anything else last night - I was paying attention - the storyline was difficult to follow. I've read MANY comments here and on Facebook today saying the same thing. I don't think you should have to watch a program twice to "get it." In the bar scene, did anyone else notice the cupcake with the candle in it, on the bar? What was that supposed to signify?
  6. And, like, he was the ONLY doctor on duty in the ER of a major city hospital? Please.
  7. Let down. I have cried during previous episodes but didn't shed a tear tonight. Glad that I could read the explanations here about the other family. Trying to figure out who those people were took away from the main plot, for me. Seemed so unnecessary and took up too much time. I usually DVR the show, but watched it in real time tonight. So many commercials! I usually fast forward during commercials, they really took away from the show for me. Maybe my expectations were too high after all the hype.
  8. Sunny appears to detest Alyssa. I can see her point. I liked everything Sunny had to say today. I just think if they give Alyssa a permanent seat at the table it is going to be very uncomfortable. They finally got rid of MM, I just have enjoyed the show so much better without her there. I don't need any more stress. I really wish that Ana would take the seat, but I guess she doesn't want to move to NY.
  9. I appreciated Whoopi's passion re abortion. Sara's hair looks terrible today. I don't like the greasy, slicked-back look. Just looks like dirty hair to me.
  10. I guess Whoopi is only there for the paycheck. She makes it clear with her eye-rolling, facial expressions and fake Valley Girl and English accents that she thinks the show is beneath her. It's irritating to me when they start discussing something I am interested in and she says "Who cares?!" If I only want to watch serious topics, I can turn to CNN.
  11. I enjoyed hearing Julia's story too. And would like it if Deborah was a regular. By the way, I loved Deborah's blouse!
  12. LOL I Google'd it and found out that Carlson bragged to a church in San Diego last weekend that he hadn't received any of the shots and would not be in the future. So if they do finally talk about it, it will be old news. What Carlson chooses to do is up to him, but the problem is he has been telling Fox viewers for years that the virus and the vaccine are a bunch of hooey. Where is that karma bus anyway?
  13. Yesterday Joy teased there would be something about Tucker Carlson after the break. I sure did not see anything. Then today, in the opening the announcer said they would be talking about the fact that Tucker has admitted he is not vaccinated. Still nothing - I don't get it.
  14. The hero worship continued with Erin French last week, who was completely in awe of Ina. She didn't gush as much as Julia - THAT was almost embarrassing to watch. Today she had Willie Giest on and the worship was not as evident. Ina took him on a tour of the property and that was interesting. Then his wife and Jeffrey joined them on the terrace for cocktails.
  15. Exactly! I have some - I use them at Christmas, but I put them in tea light holders, I don't just set the cheap little metal candles around.
  16. I just finished the book yesterday. It was really hard to read at times, what Erin has been through. But what an inspiring story of starting over, more than once. I was brought to tears at times. I really admire her.
  17. Random thoughts. I thought the wall of tea lights was about the dumbest thing I have ever seen. Who would want to bother to light them/turn them on (if battery-operated)? So "Trading Spaces." And that slide! Completely ridiculous. I also agree with all the comments about not having a screened-in porch in the back. I mean, the houses are right on the water. Mosquitoes? I would imagine that in that area of the country, there would be a lot of flying insects, especially in the summer. I can never understand the big fold-back glass doors to "open up to the outside." Sure, it would make for a nice unrestricted view, but it would let any number of bugs in the house. So not practical.
  18. Ha, don't get me started. One arrives home from work, hands the keys to her hubby and tells him to go fill up her car. She couldn't stop on the way home? But as you said, whatever works for them. Luckily they have husbands who are so accommodating.
  19. I have two friends who don't even put gas in their own cars. "That's a husband's job." One says she "doesn't know how." Here in CA where I live, all gas stations are self-service. I don't know what they will do if they ever find themselves without a husband.
  20. Agree. And guess what, 70 is not 90. Rebecca looks pretty fit and it wasn't like she was going to move the mattress by herself. Kate couldn't help? Let's face it, Kate is done with Toby at this point and nothing he can say or do will be good enough for her. Like the leak problem. He did a patch job, so to speak, when they couldn't afford a plumber. He said something to the effect that he was going to take care of it... Once he had a job, they could have discussed getting someone in to do the work. There is no excuse for Kate not handling that from her end in LA. Sheesh - there was a water stain on the ceiling, you would think that would be a constant reminder to her, whereas Toby is in SF with a new job. Guess I am on Team Toby here.
  21. You can't see her face but she is clearly laughing. https://pagesix.com/2022/03/31/jada-pinkett-smith-seen-laughing-after-will-smith-slap-video/
  22. This morning on either GMA or Today (I can't remember which), it was mentioned that Smith might be suspended for a period of time - i.e. not able to be nominated for a year or some period of time. They have to do SOMETHING. Marching up to the stage and assaulting someone during a live broadcast cannot be swept under the rug. I have to say that I think that the fact that Chris Rock has been silent shows some restraint and class on his part. Whoever is advising him is doing a good job. Will looks the fool. He only apologized after the Academy said they are now "investigating." An apology that no doubt was written by a PR person on his behalf. Even if he only gets a slap on the wrist, this incident will follow him for the rest of his life, taint whatever work he does.
  23. I know nothing about alopecia, but I have to wonder why if she is sensitive about it, why she didn't wear a wig (which she most certainly can afford a good one), or a pretty turban, at least for the time that she was going to be on international television.
  24. I think I gasped when I saw Tracee Ellis Ross on the red carpet. I don't know how she didn't have a wardrobe malfunction. I was scrolling through the internet at some of the other best/worst dressed on the red carpet and OMG - there were a few they were barely covered. I so miss the days of real class and elegance. I think a lot of people I know don't even watch the Oscars anymore and I am almost embarrassed to admit I do. It used to be like the Super Bowl for me - my wine and snacks ready - I honestly don't know if I will watch anymore. I really enjoyed Amy Schummer. She could have been the lone host and it would have been better. She was funny and looked comfortable. Maybe the Academy is going to have to go the route of rock concerts and place security at the stage from now on. I REALLY hope there will be consequences for Smith to have to face.
  25. Disappointed that Anthony Hopkins complimented Will Smith, who was smiling and clapping in the audience. Wow.
