  1. You know, like many of you, I watch plenty of CNN and MSNBC. I am exposed to what is going on in the world currently. I welcome a little relief from talking about the news - The View spends a lot of time talking about politics and current events and I like that. But there is nothing wrong with a little light topics here and there. I have a SIL who is not on any social media and only watches British TV programs. She rolls her eyes if you talk about anything else, she knows almost nothing about pop culture - oh and she lets you know it is beneath her. Frankly I find that behavior boring and rude.

    So happy for her!

She (Nicole) has been out for the last few days, there is no explanation. I hope she is ok. I certainly have noticed her coughing lately.
  4. Don't agree. My husband and I are both 73, he is watching the show with me and we talk about it. I really think if something happened to me he would probably want to find someone and that's ok. (After an appropriate time, of course!) He enjoys travel and going out on weekends, spending time together at home. Much nicer when you have someone to do that with. We live in a 55+ community (not the Villages) and there are some very active, vital people here. When women get together they inevitably say if their husband died, they are DONE. I always say it's easy to say that when you are not in that situation. Life can be lonely when you are alone. Yes, you can travel with girlfriends but it's different. Saying old men want a nurse ... well, hey, you may need a little help yourself at some point. It can go both ways.
  5. I feel that if Joan had been able to stay, maybe she would have been chosen at the end. Maybe I am a horrible person, but I still feel there is more to the story than her leaving because her daughter needed her. Is the daughter a single parent, no husband/partner? This would not have lasted forever, I don't know how long they were away from home total. Joan seemed very matter of fact, said that now she was looking forward to getting out there and meeting someone. Maybe she truly didn't really feel "it" for Gerry. It was uncomfortable watching Faith sobbing. She seems so wounded. And the dress - she looked desperate. And - she actually said at one point she didn't want to leave the area where her horse is buried. Really? It's a HORSE.
  6. The show is off AGAIN? Haven't seen anything mentioned on social media that Stephen is ill again. It's like he is gone more than he is there lately. Hope he's ok.
  7. LOL I'm 73. I remember watching the very first Bachelorette in 2003 (20 years ago!). I remember thinking how pretty Trista was and comparing myself to her and falling way short - how stupid - then her mother showed up and, duh, I realized I was her mother's age. Talk about denial. Crazy wake-up call. I don't really see a proposal at the end of Golden Bachelor. I see him saying something like, I love you, blah blah blah, let's see where this goes. I wonder if Gerry is capable of getting down on one knee to propose?! And then getting up again, that is the problem.
  8. We're in our 70's and did a Viking River cruise in Europe a few months ago. There was an 11-hour flight and then a LOT of walking. It is exhausting, but we decided that if we wanted to do this again, it has to be soon. It will just be too difficult in a few years. It was indeed a wake-up call. We are doing another one next year. We'll pace ourselves - just not ready to stop doing things we love. Not ready to retire to the couch quite yet.
  9. I met my husband on match.com. We were both 52 at the time. We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary this month.
  10. I just think ... after only knowing this guy for one month, she said to him (on the ferris wheel), I don't think I can live without you. I cringe.
  11. What's that saying? "People will forget what you said to them but they will remember how you made them feel." I think that is especially true for men. They want someone who makes them feel good about themself. I thought it was funny when Gerry asked Faith if the horses would bite him. He did ok, but clearly he is not a horse-guy. Theresa didn't bug me as much this time, but wow is she coming across as desperate. The look on her daughter's face when Gerry said he didn't know how he felt about her. And she goes to her daughter's house EVERY DAY? She needs to get a life and hopefully if she is not chosen she will realize that now. I'm about her age and there is a lot more to life than just seeing family every day. I thought her hometown visit dress was too short (my husband did not agree) but her rose ceremony dress was nice. Was it Faith in the black dress? Did not flatter her, her boobs looked pretty saggy.
  12. When Gerry was doing the talk-show circuit just prior to this show debuting, he seemed nice and natural. He's coming across as kind of sappy to me now. Out of the whole bunch, Susan seems the most well-adjusted person there.
  13. The statement, find someone you can't live without - that's a nice sentiment. However, was it Leslie who told him she can't live without him? Really? Wow, if someone told me that early in a relationship I would want to run. And I would never say it. And the over-sharing about past relationships and being hurt so many times. Do they not realize they come across as damaged? We've all been hurt but you don't have to put everything out there in early days. I'm not saying to lie or put up a false front, but when they start crying about how they have never had someone who really cares about them - red flags!
  14. Overall I am enjoying this season, but I agree that Whoopi should not sit there rolling her eyes looking bored. I also have to say that although I like Ana, I enjoy the program more when she is not there. Yes, they are all opinionated, but she is very not open to hearing another side to the point of being rude sometimes. Dismissive and, nope, she is not about to change. I also like the way they are dressed most days, color-coordinated. Nice on the eyes.
  15. I sure hope Season 4 is better than 3. So preachy, it was like Hallmark movie on steroids.
  16. I agree. I also noticed that when Sunny was talking about how reading Jada's book changed her opinion, Ana really went off and wow, if looks could kill, Sunny looked very pissed at her as they went to commercial. I've heard all I want to hear about Jada and Will too, but I think in this case Ana was rude, Sunny does have the right to express her opinion. I like Ana but I sense that she is extremely opinionated and tends to be a bit of a bully in the table talk. Raises voice and continues talking non-stop. I know someone like that in real life and believe me, they are draining to be around.
  17. I assume it was live because they spent quite a bit of time talking about the attack in Israel. I'm on the west coast so it's not live here.
  18. No, she didn't answer. It was a loud ring/music, she picked the phone up and said it's my daughter and turned it over. It was very awkward.
  19. Sunny's cell phone ringing during Arnold's segment. She says, "Oh, I'm sorry, that's my daughter." Are you shitting me?! Her daughter calls during a live taping? Who would do that? Whoopi looked pissed and I don't blame her.
  20. Yes, I wonder about that too! It's ridiculous. Clearly it's staging. And that storage shed out in the backyard for her many clothes and boots. I'm sorry, even if it is a brand new storage shed, I am not going to store my clothes and shoes outside. Spiders! And other crawly things!
  21. That is so true, when I see the homes after Hilary has redone them, all clean with things put away, etc., I figure it will just be a matter of time before they are trashed again. And yes, very tired of the "sugar" commercial.
  22. Last night's episode: Blended family, they got married in 2020 and he moved in to her house with his daughter (other is in college). He has to keep his clothes in boxes under the bed because there is no room ANYWHERE in that house. It looked to me like the house was more of a storage unit than a home. Not a clear place anywhere. She is basically a hoarder, I have never seen someone with so much stuff. Hilary explained to her that they were going to have to get ride of a lot of stuff in order for her to help them. The wife's constant giggling got on my nerves. With her laughing and blank look on her face I wondered if she is medicated. The husband didn't have much to say, clearly the wife is in charge there since it was her house to begin with. Because I cannot stand clutter, I just found this episode so irritating.
  23. Her uterus ruptured during labor. I'm reading the book now.
  24. Canada to Costa Rica. They sold everything they owned and moved with 16 year old daughter to Costa Rica. Blended marriage, two older children have just started college in Canada. Maybe it's just me, but I find it odd/surprising that they would leave the country with two kids in first year of college. My granddaughter just started college last year and I cannot imagine her parents leaving the country. Not in a million years. OK, maybe there is another parent who is in Canada, but they just said, well, the older two just started college so we thought that was a good time to move to Costa Rica.
