  1. I actually think this is a great way to show Logain being gentled because it doesn't make the reds out to be how they were in the book. However, I think the scene with Moiraine is important, and as they said before, you don't want to gentle the actual Dragon. Moiraine knew he wasn't because he was too old. I can't wait till Ny heals Logain.
  2. Shouldn't we have seen some evidence of Rand channeling yet? Oh, I just noticed Ny's skirt was yellow. Nice touch. oof, there was some smoke coming out of my tv with Ny and Lan. I'm just teeing it up now, but in the books the stronger guys could sense when the ladies were channeling. Just to follow up, after Logain melts the cage he says - I can hear them when they channel. Great scene with Logain and Moraine. I mean, there's really only one way to know who is the dragon for sure, but only we know that at this point + the Foretelling which only Moraine and Lan know. Her asking Ny her age should rule her out. Was Alanna using earth in the big battle? Holy fuck all, Ny. Wow shit. If they're showing her like a raging sun, what the hell are they going to show for Rand? Cleansing the taint is going to be epic.
  3. I did enjoy Perrin's time with the Tinkers. The actor did a good job being introspective without really saying too much. Thom fighting the Fade was really exciting too. I agree with the assessment here too. This is a malleable situation on the ground. I would think though that given the opening of this episode, they would have known Logain was stronger than most and plan accordingly. On the flip though, it strikes me that there's no means of communication, like birds, to the White Tower to say, 'hey, uh, this isn't going to go well here. We need to do the trial like yesterday.' Even sending a warder to deliver the message and send more Aes while they held out should be an option. Again, agree with him continually busting out of the shield, they were literally backed into the corner there. Wow, Alanna's trick with the arrows was a supercool effect. Seeing the power in battle was really engaging and Logain melting the cage.
  4. I'm crossing my fingers, and based on the quality of this episode I have some faith. It's fair, once everyone knows Rand is the Dragon, that he's going to be frazzled. He doesn't have a mentor in terms of channeling, except for the voice gibbering in his head, which may or may not mean he's already bonkers. I'm hoping with Lan being so great right now, and eventually teaching Rand the sword, that he's got somewhat of a sympathetic ear. Really, they could tone down Rand and Cadsuane about 50 billion notches and develop a really interesting relationship.
  5. Oh wow, Logain channeling looks super cool with the black parts. Also he doesn't need to do all the hand waving. I like the subtle differences - it's in line with the guys having to grab it, but the ladies sort of bring it in. It sort of circles around them. This was what i was hoping for. In the books, everyone was always screaming about how the Dragon was going to break the world, and here, it's been said several times, he could break or bind/unite, etc., instead. It's a much better take. You still have the manipulative element of everyone thinking they know how to tell Rand to do it their way, but it's less 'welp, we're screwed!' I almost feel like this should have been E3, to draw in non book viewers more. Liandrin in 5 lines is already light years better than the books. With the shielding scene, it's going to be bonkers when Rand breaks out. Lan being all gossipy keeps him out front as MVP of the show so far. The whole scene at the fire was fantastic in just making these characters actual people. I forgot Alanna and the warders bang. Ny was hilarious. I never had much use for him, but I agree he's much more of a developed character here. I actually don't have much use for the Tinkers beyond being an Aiel plot device. They never find the song. Good foreshadowing with him though. Now that I think about it, and my memory is hazy, tons of characters were so one-dimensional, even Rand for huge stretches of time, it's a wonder I made it through. The effort here is just so huge to make these characters actual people. I do like how the other Aes are cracking on Moraine for being aloof. I'm surprised no one is pointing out that if it's the end of the age, then the wheel should be spinning out some powerful channelers.
  6. I would agree there about not giving too much away. Wow, episode 4, looks like they're making the Age of Legends very modern.
  7. This is true. And Mat's always been my favorite.
  8. I'm just teeing it up now, but in the books the stronger guys could sense when the ladies were channeling. iirc, when Rand was going through his uber pissy phase, he screeched at one of the older Aes, maybe even Cadsuane, about channeling when they promised not to, and they were shocked that he actually knew. We really haven't been given much on channeling physics on the show yet though. They haven't even explained air, water, etc. Ugh, I am not looking forward to the every woman knows what's best for Rand and Rand throws a tantrum every 5 minutes. I share this opinion. The Reds were so over the top, derivative 'man haters', and just so arrogant, that I found it hard to believe how they function as part of a whole White Tower. Which, I suppose as we see later on with Salidar, I guess I'm kind of right. Philosophically, I agree, you need to go and find male channelers, especially how politically disruptive false dragons could be. I always thought it was highly short sighted to just gentle them immediately though. Given how much we get hit over the head about how men and women channeling together was what made the Age of Legends so legendary, I would think at least the yellow and probably the brown would be interested in learning what the taint does or feels, or what/how the guys channel in some effort to fix it. I mean, it's hard to believe no one thought about cleansing saidan until Rand came along.
  9. Victor Chouse. I should have known. What an ender!
  10. I had no idea what to expect, but the whole concept of the future take was really funny. All the sight gags and 'it's the future' (we know) asides were fantastic. I liked how so much was -Max. I liked Stan's 'Alexa'; when he told her to pause, she picked up the remote to rewind. It was kind of jarring hearing the kids in adult voices. They still all had the same color schemes. Cartman's voice seemed off for what I would have thought for him. I couldn't recognize all the characters, but I think one of the goths was in church. The doorbell was the best joke. Since they're basically doing Comedy Central in parallel with these movies, I'm wondering if they're going to have a canon timeline and non-canon.
  11. That's what I was thinking of. You never see anyone ordering beer. Wow those characters are almost proto- Ham and Crispin on the Great North. Bob was already on a cooking competition show; I mentioned above. Gene screwed up and went on an adventure around town to get a rare mushroom for the burger. He ended up coming in second, but when they got back the restaurant everyone was there who watched the show. Even the guy who one - 'That burger looked good! I wanted to try one.' I don't know if it's by design or what, but whenever Bob catches a break, they pack the restaurant. I'm not really a burger guy; maybe they could add grilled cheese and tomato or a blt. I'd even eat the misshapen tomato. I assume they're on a thin margin, but Bob is nothing if not creative with limited ingredients. I know they did this too to an extent, but I feel like they could bag the entire restaurant and go just food truck only, and they'd clean up. There's a bacon truck in San Francisco that would just tweet it's location for the day around the city. They have breakfast too though.
  12. I do like when the Doctor et al. run across people in their adventures that are willing to step up.
  13. There's a menu on the wall above the booths. I think it's $5.
  14. I thought Clara from Eleven to Twelve. In that episode, the Eleven said something like that the 1930s was a fixed point in time, but my take was that it was specific to whatever the angels were doing. Of course, he could have just gone to 1943 and picked them up after they lived another 6 years or so. It's all timey-whimey. Over here, '1901' is displaced out of space, so I can buy that the TARDIS can't just go there. It's a fair cheat.
  15. I can't fault them for leveraging their own intellectual property. It's not like they're not still honoring their CC contract too. All these streaming outlets offer new opportunities.
  16. I'm not seeing Jimmy going to the farmer's market for fresh ingredients. He's totally going to Costco and getting whatever frozen in bulk and just throwing it in the oven.
  17. It helps that Lan is being portrayed as an actual person instead of just stomping around.
  18. It's also literally today that the first ever Doctor appeared on television. The Doctor also threw in a 'reverse the polarity of the neutron flux'. I liked the professor being stuffy but also smart enough to know he was over his head and listened to the Doctor. It kind of wasn't his fault he got some of the dust in his eye. I like that Dan can be afraid but still keep his wits. I would be asking the same questions too. Interesting too, I think for the first time, that could could watch the angels through a camera/tv and it would freeze them. No one thought to get a mirror? I figure if you fix one in place and put a big mirror in front of them, and you dip behind the mirror, then it's stuck. Of course, to catch the Doctor, they brought 100s, so I can't call bs on it. Also, they waited until night time to attack, which is smart. I might be on the outlier, but I don't care much about Vinder and Bel's story. Clearly, they're going to factor in to the conclusion. I suppose it's nice that they both appear to be genuinely good and don't have any agenda. The angels are sorely mistaken if they think this is all they had to do to capture the Doctor.
  19. Lews killed his family, and then Ish met him downstairs and healed him long enough to realized what he did. He essentially burned himself out with the power and that's how Dragonmount was made. I couldn't hear anything in the Warder episode though. The background music was too loud. I do like the animation. It's kind of like a painting.
  20. I finally got around to season 11. I loved the 2001 opening, but some of the sketches are intense. Even Larry David got a ton of people killed. Yeah, wow that was a bold take. Run Lola Run for Halloween is a loooong walk in 2021. I loved that movie though. I'm always all in for a time loop. I loved all the costumes. There was even a Russian doll. I mean, I liked it all, but that was one hell of an afternoon.
  21. Totally. Everytime they do something, people love the food. Not that the Thanksgiving was exotic; the menu was traditional, but Bob still had to prepare everything without any planning. He just took what was there and made it well and everyone was having a good time. Jimmy actually recommended Bob to have a food booth at the pier xmas festival (when Teddy was Santa). Everyone was lining up. When Bob was on the cooking show (Gene went to get the rare mushroom), he came in 2nd, and the time they got back to the restaurant, there was a line down the block. Valentine's day was a brilliant idea. Even when Linda screwed up with the green burgers, she still packed the place by handing out free samples at the parade. I don't know if it's the location or the appearance of the restaurant, but while I don't think they'd be packed all the time, struggling to pay the rent seems a bit much. It might be that they rely on tourism so much, and Jimmy's has more 'flash'; bar, tv, outdoor seating. You'd think though that the kind of run down look of the place would be something hipsters would flock to. They probably don't advertise much. There's beer on the menu; Bob could put together some kind of happy hour menu with smaller dishes or something.
  22. I'm hoping they pick up again on the Hulu show with the extortion plot. Ted Danson and Cheryl haven't been around much. I want to see them again. There's no doubt here, but I love Susie and would put up with a lot. People get mad here if I start yelling like she does, but then I'm like, 'ok lunch?'
  23. I lived in Tokyo for a while, and I always did like when they yelled at you when you came into the store or restaurant. Especially if it's a shop you normally go to and they actually know you. Because you get to yell back 'hai domo konichiwa!' or 'ohayo gozaimas(u)'. You don't pronounce the (u) in the big city or they'll think you're a rube. I liked the jacket that Gabby was wearing at the restaurant. A lot of the ancillary dialogue in this episode, it looked like Larry and Jeff were just cracking each other up. The bit about the general stores, they just both started laughing. I like when the actors try to break each other up. I do that all the time to my friends irl. It would be big, but Freddy wanting Larry's shirt is ridiculous because it definitely would not fit. To be fair to Larry, he said he'd take him shopping, so you could buy some high end clothes. A grown man having a 'favorite shirt' is a little much. I did like at the end that Larry just figuratively tipped his hat and left the restaurant.
  24. I think I caught that one later on, maybe 96 or so, but I just didn't use the internet for social media much back then. I remember the 'looney theories'. I used it like I did the wiki. I'm not a re-reader or re-watcher because there's always something new to read or watch in between, so I have to look a lot up. I still don't know who killed Asmodean, and I was ticked that Jordan was being so smug about how obvious it was.
