In the eighties I bought all my clothes at Filene's Basement or at a thrift/vintage shop on Newbury St. in Boston. The upstairs was vintage and the downstairs was all gently used and almost all designer. I got Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein for next to nothing! My best find was a blue cashmere coat, which I literally wore to pieces.

They were well prepped by the production staff. "OK, now we'll be bringing Jasmine in, so make sure you really ham it up with the surprise, OK?"

If I walked into a "salon" for a treatment I would be far more perturbed by the presence of a couple of dogs than by the fact that the esthetician's boyfriend was upstairs. Sanitation is super important in that business.
