  1. Joe has political consultant Rick Tyler on the show. Joe and Rick agree that Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas was a dumbass to go to Mexico instead of staying in Houston. Joe claimed his "staff" would have given him a shot in the neck to stop him from going on such a trip. Joe always brings it back to himself. Willie said it was arrogant to get on a plane while people are dying. Willie agreed that Joe was great at constituent services unlike Ted Cruz. Willie noted that Joe would hand out water and food after hurricanes in Florida. Funny how they didn't have pictures of Joe doing that. Take Joe's word for it that he was always right there when disaster struck.
  2. Hee, it was impressive. It looked like she'd been crying for hours. Street's profession of his feelings was surprising. Like, the woman can barely deal with packing her dead friend's stuff, so I don't think she needs this right now. Still, I thought her reaction of kicking him out of the apartment was over the top. Is it because she is messed up about Erica or because she can't deal with her own feelings or both? How about giving us a clue, writers? I did get where Street was coming from, since Erica's death made him realize his feelings. But it was completely unclear to me why Chris freaked out.
  3. So sorry to hear Plumbago Blues. Houston is my hometown and it's hard to imagine such a serious cold event there. It's usually the opposite. I hope you are able to get gas and food and that your power stays on.
  4. I was pretty bored by this episode, but I thought the actor who played the father was excellent. I felt sorry for the dad. Jesse Lee Soffer was also great. Jay is consistently shown as having a high code of ethics. At least that's consistent, because I get a really disconnected feeling from one episode to the next. Jay and Hailey slept together two or three episodes ago, but they have not had any talk about their relationship. Kim's kid wasn't mentioned in this episode. You would think they would throw in a line about child care just for the sake of continuity. It's like they don't remember their own stories.
  5. Mika seems excited that the impeachment trial starts today. Mika stared and put her head down like Diane Sawyer. It's very solemn and dramatic. Mika says that it's an incredible moment in history. Democracy came to the brink, according to Mika. Willie says that the Senate will remind the jurors to hold Trump accountable. Joe thinks that the evidence will show shocking attacks and mayhem. A first year law student could make the case according to Joe. Lemire says that we will see powerful images. You may have seen these pictures 1000 times on MSNBC already. Edited to add, they showed pictures of Justice Roberts swearing in witnesses at the first impeachment. From a news standpoint, what does it say that they are showing coverage from the first trial? Shouldn't they be out finding action related to THIS proceeding. MSNBC gets more and more like the SNL sketch where they showed the same film of someone walking down the stairs 50 times in 2 minutes.
  6. Joe spent the whole first segment telling us what Sen. Mitt Romney thinks about Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene. I understand that Joe needs a new Trump surrogate since Trump is gone. But why is he framing this through the lens of what Mitt Romney says? Mitt is not the House minority leader or the Senate majority leader. I think Joe likes Mitt because he is a pompous windage like Joe. Claire McCaskill is on the show to bitch about Lindsay Graham. She thinks Graham should denounce Marjorie Taylor Greene. At least he's still in the Senate Clare. You're hanging out in your kitchen talking to Joe. The self hatred has to be deep. His new things is going to be to bitch about this Greene lady every day. She is a minor member who yes is batshit crazy but she'll be gone in two years.
  7. I didn't understand it either. Here's a really good explanation in this article. https://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_6014379bc5b653f644d35320 Basically a lot of hedge funds had targeted the stock for a short sale. They borrow stock at the market price and sell it to someone else with the plan to buy it back when the price drops. Then they return all of the shares that they borrowed. The example if the short seller borrows 10 shares of stock and sells them for $4 a share, they make 40 dollars. Then, the short seller waits for the stock to go down and buys the same shares back at a lower price. The example is that the stock drops down to $2. If you buy back the 10 shares you sold, it costs you $20. You made a $20 profit by selling it at the higher price and buying it back at the low price. A Reddit day trader board saw the price of Game Stop was low and the members decided to drive the price up by buying shares. The shares went up by 600 percent in value. The stock went from a low of $17 a share to $150 a share. The hedge funds that had already borrowed and sold shares at the $17 price could not buy the shares they sold back at a lower price for a profit. They had to buy the stock back at the $150 price in order to return the shares they had borrowed. The short seller hedge funds lost about $5 billion on their investment in Game Stop. That's why the Wall Street guys are so mad at the Reddit guys.
  8. Joe did an interview with Dr. Michael Osterholm about Covid variants and vaccines. He basically said that some vaccines are more effective against the new Covid variants than others. He said that some vaccines may be only 50 percent effective against the South Africa variant. Ok, what if I already got the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine? I feel like this wasn't helpful at all. Thanks for nothing, assclown. Also why is Susan Del Percio allowed on this show to ask Dr. Osterholm questions? She is a member of Lincoln Project and is making millions. She is not a journalist. This show needs to get its ethics straight.
  9. The apartment thing really bugged me. Hailey's house was shown in several episodes. The dumb thing is that the bedroom was the same as the bedroom that Hailey had when she slept with Adam. I feel like Hailey's reason for not wanting to see her dad was not entirely clear. I thought that the hallway scene after the interrogation hinted at worse abuse than she has let on. But, since it wasn't explicitly said, another interpretation was that she was just afraid of seeing her dad really sick. The scene of her at the hospital staring into the ICU did nothing to clarify the situation. I liked that Jay encouraged Hailey to see her father. I am not sure that I buy these two as a couple. They lack the fun quality he had with Erin. I thought Voight would figure out that Jay and Hailey were together after they stopped at the crime scene on the way to work. He busted Adam and Hailey's affair based on them being at a crime scene together early in the morning. I like the consistent writing with Voight with respect to his efforts to help the family of the deceased officer. He has done this in multiple episodes and it gives his character a sympathetic side.
  10. Catching up here, I find it odd that Joe would comment on a man's bone structure. There are plenty of things to criticize that don't involve picking apart someone's appearance. As for Mika, it's never a good sign when spouses are snarking on each other in public. Mika needs to recall that sexy man that she fell in love with.
  11. Joe is losing it, yelling because there are only five Senate Republicans who voted to proceed with the Trump impeachment. He said conservatives go after people who attack our country. My question is, does Joe really think that his opinion matters to Senate Republicans? He yelled that we should "Never, never forget!" Seems that Joe is trying to go viral with his rant. Joe talked about his work after 9/11. You may recall Joe's inspiring legislative proposals. Willie looks tired and over it. Poor Willie, I sure hope that he gets paid a lot to sit there while Joe yells.
  12. I agree. This show has gotten worse over time with the ageism. I remember Byron and Mary. She was in her late thirties and was treated much more respectfully than Clare. My ugly conclusion is that they brought Clare in to take advantage of her urgent desire to get married and have a kid. And they probably didn't care if she had hurt feelings or looked crazy because it was good drama. It's gross.
  13. Joe said Washington DC is ravaged by riots. I live in Washington DC and my neighborhood is not ravaged. The radius of the Capitol and WH are locked down but the city is largely just as it has been since March. They need to specify the Capitol. I don't mean to minimize damage at the Capitol. Nicole Wallace's lover, Michael Whathisname, is there waxing poetic about democracy. I wish Nicole was there so we could enjoy the sizzling chemistry.
  14. They showed a montages of inauguration starting with Lyndon Johnson, but they left out Donald Trump. I'm not quite sure what the point of that was - MSNBC erases Trump? Joe said that he always wants the president to do well. He prays every inauguration day, or something. And then he goes on TV and makes fun of the president. Mika seems like she wants to cry. Evan Thomas noted that Joe Biden is not a great speaker. He basically said he's boring. It feels like setting low expectations for the event. Mika sadly intoned that there is jubilation.
  15. Nolan's mom is a total flake and way over the top. I really wish that he could have gotten Susan Sullivan for the mom role. I think they were going for quirky, but the way it was played by Frances Fischer, the character seemed borderline mentally ill. I have a feeling that something bad is going to happen with the girl that Chen has been helping.
  16. Mika looks like Martha Stewart today in a white turtleneck and a dark blazer. Mika read a story about the Capitol riot and Joe just stared ahead at the camera and didn't make any comment. I'm getting a depressive vibe from those two.
  17. The conversation about her possibly leaving and being afraid of change was good. But the kiss didn't really fit and seemed tacked on just to pander to Jay/Haley fans. It would have made more sense if they acknowledged that they have an emotional thing and then let that sit for a few episodes before something happened. Jay did not even kiss Erin for a whole season after they went on their first date. I think anyone who has messed around with someone from work and has gotten burned like Jay would be more careful. I thought that the storyline with Kim and the kid was well done. That child actor was adorable.
  18. Lenire seems quite breathless this morning. He wrote a story for AP "Enduring Impeachment, Trump stands largely silent, alone." Mika did a dramatic reading of the AP story. They showed Nancy Pelosi reading her speech that Donald is a clear and present danger. Joe seems very satisfied with the impeachment. He's wearing a nice red tie. Katty Kay is there but her computer is messed up and we can't hear her. Oh we, nice seeing you Katty. Has Joe taken credit for Alabama's football championship yet?
  19. This reminds me - yesterday they opened with that montage of the Capitol set to "Hurt" by Johnny Cash. At first, I thought it was Joe. I guess Joe realized that adding his music would only make America feel worse.
  20. Twitter compares Joe's rant to Keith Olbermann. I can kind of see of see it.
  21. What is with the brown bathrobe on Mika? It looks ridiculous. Mika is upset that Los Angeles paramedics are not transporting patients who don't have a pulse. She yelled and cry talked about the hospitals in L.A. Has Mika ever met a paramedic? They have to deal with a lot of people who can't be saved.. It's not uncommon for paramedics to pronounce patients. She's such a moron. Willie looks exhausted. He has huge bags under his eyes.
  22. This bugs me, too. I feel like they assembled a group of Instagram influences. They all look like Kardashian hangers on to me. The glossy hair and slip dresses make them look like pageant contestants. It used to be that the variety of styles was part of the fun
  23. This is weird. So will Donny be a guest to discuss foreign policy matters? His only expertise is his "branding" BS and Trump. His idea of discipline in the media sounds nice. Let's start with Mika and Joe.
  24. Jonathan Lemire and Kasie are hosting the show together. This looks to me like MSNBC might be testing a new show for them. Jonathan is upset that Trump went golfing and waited to sign the Covid relief bill. Kasie said that there was no way forward if the bill wasn't passed. Anna Palmer of Politico says we were on a "precipice." This show is really going to miss Donald Trump. What are they going to talk about come January 20?
  25. I've never seen Newsmax but I understand that it leans way right. I did like Greg Kelly when he was a local guy in NY. I sometimes read his Twitter because he has good inside dirt. Having briefly worked in television news several years ago, I've always been fascinated by behind the scenes stories about journalists.
