S23.E18: Live Cutdown Show; S23.E19: Live Finale Part 2
DanaK replied to shantown's topic in The Voice (US)
I believe so. The band overwhelmed him and I think his voice couldn't quite reach a few times -

S23.E18: Live Cutdown Show; S23.E19: Live Finale Part 2
DanaK replied to shantown's topic in The Voice (US)
This season has felt like it’s been far more about Blake leaving than about the contestants, but it’s always been more focused on the coaches -
And Henry had already died before being resurrected so now he’s back to being dead. Does that count as killing someone?

He probably really hurt himself with his poor second performance -

Gina Miles wins My guy Noivas goes out at 5th. What a bummer, I really liked him -
Wow this show, this season so far. If it ends up getting canceled, at least it will have had a fantastic season instead of the lackluster previous season. That ending was wonderful

HBO Max is now officially "Max" with a quicker and cleaner interface. On the website, I logged into Max.com and all my login information was there from the old site. I just couldn't find where I had written down my account information and had to change my password because I couldn't remember it; everything is now fine and dandy and written down in my accounts notebook

And to note, in the US, you do not need special access, like Passport, to watch it on PBS.org or the PBS app (and it's available to stream as of yesterday). And as noted in a previous post, if you can't access PBS via streaming, PBS will show all 5 parts on linear PBS in late August I hope to get to this some time in the next few months as it sounds really interesting

S04.E22: Uncharted Waters of Mediocrity
DanaK replied to jewel21's topic in Bob ❤️ Abishola (Bob Hearts Abishola)
The hazards of major budget cuts -
Favorite performances: Noivas - 1st song D. Smooth - 2nd song Gina - 2nd song Guest artist Alex Newell was incredible. I’ve liked him since Glee. I’ve been hearing good things about him in “Shucked” Tonight’s performances were pretty mixed for me. Some were good, some really good, some meh. Noivas’ 2nd song felt like the music overpowered his voice and I usually like his performances

S04.E22: Uncharted Waters of Mediocrity
DanaK replied to jewel21's topic in Bob ❤️ Abishola (Bob Hearts Abishola)
Knowing that everybody but Bob and Abishola won’t be seen much next season kind of cast a pall over this finale but I mostly enjoyed it -
Fun episode and the ending was very sweet with the kids singing Calvin and Tina’s favorite song and then the audience singing and dancing along

IKR? Then Miss Wu shows how smart and crafty she is by indicating it didn’t matter whether Gladys was able to pay back her debt or not, she wins either way (as she can go to Sonny to get the debt paid if Gladys skipped town) Also, Wu indicated to Gladys her mother was in Singapore so I assume she is from there too. The actress is from Singapore so I assume she’s using her own accent for the character. I’m curious if anyone knows if the accent actually is Singaporean? The Singapore accent seems to be a pretty specific accent and Wu’s seems to somewhat resemble accents of other Singapore actors I’ve heard, except they also have a British enunciation

A really good and interesting doc. I became aware of Donna in her disco phase so I didn’t really know about her earlier time in Europe. It’s too bad about her rift with the gay community as they seemed to be her strongest supporters. She probably should have addressed her supposed anti-gay comments a lot sooner than she did, though it didn’t seem to help

I get the impression Dex and Joc think he can’t escape Sonny without consequences, moreso they seem to think the only way out is to tell Sonny or for Sonny to find out Dex betrayed him. Of course, Sonny seems to be ok if Dex leaves if he wants to so Dex just has to tell him he want to be with Joc and Joc doesn’t want him working Sonny. Easy peasy

Yeah, I really thought Tim Hutton's DEA character would be revealed as dirty. I'm glad they didn't go with that cliche

Thank you very much, I really appreciate that

A Black Lady Sketch Show - General Discussion
DanaK replied to Primetimer's topic in A Black Lady Sketch Show
That was pretty good overall. The girl gang sketch was my favorite, as usual. The initial Juneteenth sketch was pretty bold and funny. The Behind the scenes ongoing sketch went in a very unexpected way -
Bodie, Bodie, Bodie. Falling on your sword to save Freddie is a difficult choice but he should have talked to his public defender first. The guy is too much of a martyr
