  1. Jodie Whittaker has been nominated for a Critics Choice Super Award for Best Actress in a Science Fiction/Fantasy series for Doctor Who for their inaugural Super Awards http://criticschoice.com/critics-choice-super-awards/
  2. At the same location shoot someone who caught the goings-on captured at least one picture that suggests a couple of Sontarans, but it was from a distance, so it’s not certain
  3. Well, I wasn’t expecting Danny Glover. That was a fun episode
  4. I can’t believe the Chicago shows are going on hiatus until January after only 2 episodes. It’s similar to This Is Us and The Good Doctor (the latter at the end of this month). They are likely barely keeping up as it is and they likely wanted some shows for November Good episode overall but the Casey/Brett ending was sad and annoying
  5. The PTB must have heard all the complaining about Cyrus not being bad enough because he certainly upped his murderous bad guy game this week
  6. In the first set of performance Tamara did a really good job with Higher Ground, while I thought Casme did poorly with Wrecking Ball; I think she was off key through the whole song. I thought she did well in the Battles round, but just flopped here, so Tamara winning was the right choice. I thought Payge was just too slow with Creep, at least initially though she got better as she went along. Worth the Wait did fairly well, but they need to work on the group dynamics more, and I like the lead singer, but I'm not sure the other two are all that strong in solos
  7. Nick Jonas will be coming back for next season, along with Kelly, John and Blake
  8. I think part of the issue with the delays is the writing. You can be writing and putting together scripts for the next series during production of the current series or you can do the writing for the next series after you finished producing the current series. It seems Chibnall may have opted for the 2nd and the pandemic pushed things out further. Also, I think Chibnall wanted to give the actors and production folks more time between series so he doesn't burn people out. 13/14 episodes during the RTD and Moffat era exhausted the showrunners and actors. Doctor Who is a massive undertaking for British TV and its puny budget (compared to US shows) makes it hard to get the show done in a quick fashion. I bet if you doubled the budget, we could easily have 8 or 10 episode seasons every year
  9. Per posters on Gallifrey Base, there are reports of recent filming in South Wales, including a quarry location, spotting of the Tardis and possible pig-like aliens, along with some night shooting Previously, there was a sighting of an actress' CV indicating a guest role in Who of Mary Seacole; if it's the same as the historical person, she was a British-Jamaican nurse who worked in the Crimean War. If so, we may be getting an interesting historical episode
  10. I didn't like that they jumped past Covid after just 2 episodes, but hey, it's their show. I did enjoy the episode overall, especially with choosing the new medical students. I'm not so sure about Leah and Shaun as a couple. It comes across to much like star-crossed teenagers at times. I guess Shaun needs to fumble around and make mistakes to learn how to be a in a good relationship The girl with the breast surgery, did she not have any family to sit with her and worry about her?
  11. I was thinking the same thing throughout the episode. I was especially thinking that the costume people did a bad job and it wasn't at all flattering on Simone. Once she revealed the pregnancy, it all made sense. I too was bothered by all the times they took off the masks to talk to people Good episode overall
  12. Since they have started filming Series 13, I think it's safe to start a topic about it, even if Chibnall won't likely let much news leak through Per the Mirror https://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/doctor-whos-new-series-less-22994454 and other media, they have started filming Series 13 as of the week of November 11 (and possibly actually starting a week before that based on slate information). It will have 8 episodes, cut down from 11 episodes due to Covid protocols that add time and money to each episode. It's planned to shoot for the usual 10 months and to air late next year (2021) barring any set shutdowns for health reasons Jodie Whittaker is returning as the Doctor as expected and it looks like Mandip Gill will return as Yaz Khan, with Bradley Walsh and Tosin Cole not returning, but the companion stuff has not been officially announced yet. However, Jodie and Mandip did a recent Children in Need segment from the set dressed in their costumes to announce a contest for a future set visit, so it suggests Mandip is definitely returning
  13. Favorite performances for the night: Carter/Larriah (such talented and likable youngsters), Casme/Rio, Marisa/Ryan G., Liam/Ryan B. I thought either of the first 2 pairs should have closed out the night I continue to hate that they do quick montages of several contestants. Can’t they find some things to cut to at least show full performances for every pair? It’s just so unfair to those folks
  14. The Mirror itself is something to wrap fish in, but the article's writer Nicola Methven tends to be fairly reliable. From everything I hear (more rumors and observations really), Walsh and Cole are gone after the special (Cole himself has been cast in an AMC series) and it appears Mandip is staying. If so and given the pandemic, it's quite possible they'll just stick with Yaz as the sole companion to keep the cast number down, with the possibility that they'll have a part-time second companion occasionally show up, like Capt Jack did previously with the 9th and 10th Doctors
  15. In regards to a coach using a save to keep a contestant, I kind of wish they would do that upfront and save us all the minutes of agonizing of which one to keep. Did they say a saved contestant has to do some kind of face off with some other contestants or did I mishear?
  16. I ff through most of the guest coach/coach coaching of the Battle contestants so I can just enjoy the actual performances. I thought the two separate boxing rings for the contestants actually was a good idea and still allowed them to perform with each other. I enjoy the blind auditions far more than I enjoy the rest of the season. So much padding. I think it really helps to have the virtual audience. I thought about dropping the show a few years ago, but it's a pleasant enough diversion, especially this year, and nothing stops me from ff which I do a lot (I was doing that a lot with American Idol before I finally quit watching the show after ABC's first season). The coaches seem to get along fine. I wonder if Gwen was chosen to coach this season partly because she and Blake are living together and it was felt that it would be safer that way (or it was easier to get her than someone else). The in-jokes about them being together and jokey competition between them are getting kind of annoying, as is Gwen trying to prove she knows country because of her time with Blake. I like several of the contestants but don't remember their names yet. I do not watch this show hoping someone becomes a huge hit; I wised up about that early on. Truth be told though, American Idol couldn't get their artists to be big stars in its later years either (on Fox or now on ABC).

    S01.E01: Pilot

Bernie Kopell is supposed to be one of the assisted living residents as well but Wikipedia does not list Jamie Farr as being in the cast. I'm not sure about this one. I'll have to see how the next few episodes go. It seems like a better-than-deserved cast for a possibly so-so show
  18. That was a pretty hilarious episode. I’m glad they found each other though both were clearly awkward about it The standing desks in my government agency before I retired were sit/stand desks. You could sit normally but you could also raise the desk up and stand. If those really were stand only desks, then Forrest must have inherited one and been too afraid to say something. I don’t believe for a second a company would force everyone to stand. That’s an HR nightmare waiting to happen
  19. Esquire followed up one year later and things aren't good with Covid https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/tv/a34643923/biff-poggi-the-cost-of-winning-interview/?utm_campaign=socialflowTWESQ&src=socialflowTW&utm_medium=social-media&utm_source=twitter
  20. It was a fairly emotional hour. It seems that Hondo's dad has now given up on trying to affect change. I think this episode was still in script stage last season when they had to shut down; I don't believe it had been filmed yet. Either way, it was probably fairly easy to rejigger the present scenes a bit to include pandemic stuff.
  21. This show is mostly a ball of fluff and silly fun, which is welcome in these hard times. The final guesses and ending results of each episode are way more emotional than I expected though
  22. My guess is it won’t be a tragic ending, that after probable months without the Doctor, they went back to their lives and Ryan decides he doesn’t want to continue traveling (as he indicated he was leaning towards in Series 12) and Graham has overcome his grief and decides to stay with him. My guess is Yaz isn’t happy being a cop and indicates she isn’t ready to stop traveling with the Doctor
  23. What are you mad about? You know there’s a pandemic going on, right? Why are you crapping on Chibnall when he can’t help what’s going on? Covid protocołs are forcing many if not all shows to spend more time and money each episode and if their budget isn’t increased overall, they are cutting back on episodes. I’m just glad they are able to film the show at all right now
  24. In an apparent exclusive interview with the Mirror, showrunner Chris Chibnall has indicated they have started filming Series 13 and will have 8 episodes (it's not clear if the 8th is a special or regular episode) rather than the usual 11 (10 regular + 1 special) due to Covid safety protocols, it will shoot for its usual 10 months, and the series is expected to air in Autumn (Fall) 2021. A poster on the Gallifrey Base board said he'd been hearing a reduced episode count for some time (to be clear, that shouldn't have surprised anyone paying attention) and he believes it will probably be 7 episodes at 50 minutes plus a special, but who knows for sure The article also says that the Revolution of the Daleks will air on New Years Day 2021. It also reports that Bradley Walsh and Tosin Cole are departing and Mandip Gill will remain The article: https://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/doctor-whos-new-series-less-22994454
  25. I read an article that said the actress playing Willow's mom is basically stuck in Canada due to the pandemic, so the character is gone for now, but she can show up later
