  1. Per RadioTimes, the cast promises big shocks and tears shed in the festive special https://www.radiotimes.com/news/tv/2020-12-04/doctor-who-big-shocks-surprises/
  2. Sad. I had expected it would maybe last another season or two without America, but this is sooner than i thought, plus it’s a shortened season. I hope the producers had enough time to craft a good ending
  3. I figured given comments by the handler in past episodes, the dog was going to end up being retired
  4. Per Digital Spy, Jodie and Chibnall talk about that first lockdown speech with Jodie as the Doctor https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/a34840897/doctor-who-jodie-whittaker-explains-covid-message/
  5. Per an interview in Radio Times, the special, which was filmed in late 2019, will not reference the pandemic, but Chibnall considered adding some references via pickup shots before deciding against it. Also, he confirmed the 70 minute running time https://www.radiotimes.com/news/tv/2020-12-02/doctor-who-special-coronavirus/
  6. I learned within the last few years they were really related to raccoons (or skunks) and the like and not to giant pandas. Not sure about the foul substance. They are so darn cute and apparently much more safe to handle than the giant pandas given their size
  7. Probably a typo that was meant to be "ones" referring to several types
  8. BBC One will show the Doctor Who special from 18:45 (6:45pm) to 20:00 (8:00pm) on Jan 1, a 75 minute running time TV Guide (so US-centric) named "Fugitive of the Judoon" as one of the 15 best episodes of TV in 2020 https://www.tvguide.com/news/features/15-best-episodes-tv-2020/
  9. There were a few good performances, but overall, the night was pretty underwhelming for me
  10. According to TVLine, Ryan is still with the show, but he broke the show’s Covid protocols and wasn’t allowed to perform. The article said he’ll explain soon ETA: I guess you have to read the article carefully. It sounds like Ryan has been dropped and didn’t choose to leave because of breaking the Covid protocols, but it’s not entirely clear https://tvline.com/2020/11/30/the-voice-recap-live-playoffs-top-17-sid-kingsley-carter-rubin/
  11. I feel it’s a pretty weak show overall and I’m only halfway through. Even my boy Carter didn’t impress me much
  12. Belay that. The episode will indeed be shown on Tuesday now that the NFL game has been moved yet again, this time to Wednesday afternoon
  13. It sounds like the results show is back to tomorrow night since the NFL game has been moved again to Wed afternoon
  14. I wonder why Ryan had to exit before tonight’s show?
  15. My station interrupted twice in the final 10-15 minutes for weather alerts so it looks like I’m going have to catch up tomorrow on ABC.com
  16. More articles and interviews on the special Radio Times: Mandip says there’s more to come about Yaz’s mental health struggles https://www.radiotimes.com/news/tv/2020-11-30/doctor-who-yaz-mental-health-series-13/ Doctor Who Page tweet BBC media release with Q&A of Chibnall and the cast. They make it official that Brad and Tosin are leaving https://www.bbc.com/mediacentre/mediapacks/revolution-of-the-daleks My take on how Graham and Ryan leave is that neither die like I’ve seen some speculate. I think they’ve readjusted to life on Earth after they separate from the Doctor and they decide not to travel with her anymore. The goodbyes will be very sad
  17. It's not entirely clear the BBC timeslot for the upcoming special, though it will likely be around 8pm on New Year's Day. BBC America has announced the US showing will start at 8pm ET/PT. BBC America's press release, which includes cast/guest cast info http://thefutoncritic.com/news/2020/11/29/its-happy-who-year-once-again-as-doctor-who-returns-on-new-years-day-with-dalek-filled-special-775202/20201129bbca01/
  18. Be aware that this week’s episode will be shown on Thursday to make way for a re-scheduled NFL game on Tuesday
  19. FYI, this Tuesday’s results show will be shown on Thursday to make way for a re-scheduled NFL game
  20. The trailer for Revolution of the Daleks special, to be broadcast on New Year's Day, January 1, 2021
  21. The BBC has let it be known on their Doctor Who Twitter page that the trailer for the "Revolutions of the Daleks" festive special will air on BBC1 at about 7:25pm GMT (less than an hour from now). It will likely be online soon after that ETA: The trailer has dropped and I've put it in the Series 12 spoiler/discussion topic. The special will be broadcast on New Year's Day, January 1, 2021
  22. Per Cultbox, showrunner Chris Chibnall provided an update to Radio Times on the challenges of filming Series 13 during a pandemic https://cultbox.co.uk/news/doctor-who-series-13-showrunner-and-executive-producer-provide-update The highlights: Scripts needed to be rewritten and there's no foreign location filming planned for the series Per Chibnall: "Basically, for the past six months we’ve been going, ‘How do we make Doctor Who in the middle of a pandemic? We had to re-interrogate absolutely everything. We couldn’t do Spyfall this year. We won’t be able to do overseas filming. Editorially, production-wise, logistically, health and safety-wise, it’s had a massive impact. But where we are is incredibly exciting. As much as possible at the moment everybody’s smiling, and we’ve got some really lovely, great, mad scary ideas.” Executive Producer Matt Strevens gave Radio Times his assurance that filming during a pandemic will not affect the quality of the series, which was shortened from the typical eleven episodes to eight episodes, a goal they felt they could reasonably achieve due to pandemic health and safety precautions slowing production. “The biggest thing is that when series 13 finally does air, whenever that is, we never want people to watch it under the caveat of Covid, going, ‘Ah, well, but they made this during the pandemic.’ We want to make sure that when you watch it, it’s – no pun intended – timeless, and feels as exciting and as high-end as we’ve tried to make the series since we took over. That was the driving impulse behind looking at the narratives and reducing the number of episodes slightly: we want to make sure we can give people the biggest production values possible.” Chibnall hopes to “bring a smile to people’s faces” and “a bit of dread in their hearts for monsters.” “Yes, more monsters are coming back. There are one who’ve appeared over the past 15 years that are deserving of another visit in the next series. In fact, they’re probably formulating their plans as we speak…”
  23. The studio audience doesn't vote; it's the home audience that does. The audience votes via whatever methods they are using nowadays (you can tell I haven't voted on this show)
  24. Also in the excerpts, the special is apparently going to be 70 minutes ETA: It looks like the SFX Magazine excerpts tweet was deleted. To reiterate, Chris Noth is back as Jack Robinson and Dame Harriet Walter is also a guest. Plus, they confirmed that Brad and Tosin are leaving Trailer for the special will be released Sunday
  25. The recent 3 part “Rise of the Nazis” was really good and a very timely warning of how to lose a democracy. The machinations by the various politicians to harness the Nazi Party’s base and Hitler against perceived enemies on the left while still controlling them really bit them in the butt. How they could have ignored the Nazis given their recent wins in parliament isn’t clear though. Of course, why the Nazis and Hitler were even allowed in parliament and politics in general after their coup attempt and Hitler’s imprisonment a decade earlier is equally unclear
