  1. This is the era of eBay. Pretty much anything is going to have some buyers who decide they don't want it and put it up for resale.
  2. Pretty sure the guy riding up on the bike didn't have Rob Lowe's geriatric toothpick arms, either.
  3. No. If you abandon your 10-year-old child whether it's over alcohol, drugs, mental health issues, or just preferring to make a new family with your new wife, you don't get to play the victim and whine about it being so sad your abandoned kid's not interested in re-establishing a relationship with you once you finally decide you want to be a parent again after 30 years of no contact.
  4. To be fair, in this case psychic power = having functioning eyes and ears while watching the movie.
  5. Well, a good guy who was willing to blow up a kajillion innocent people at the state capitol rather than, say, send his beloved wife and child to go stay in a motel a couple of states over while he turned the improbable bomber mastermind in to the feds.
  6. I've seen Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, and Mark Ruffalo in relatively small indies since their careers blew up with the Marvel movies. Hell, RDJ made his own indie about his relationship with his father. And though Hemsworth has only been in studio films, he's worked with Darren Arnofsky on a docu-series.
  7. Yeah, that was a nice touch. I also thought it was pretty manipulative for Max's dad to be buttering up his girlfriend and trying to get her to intercede on his behalf, since she'd only ever met the new, improved version. I am so glad Kat maintained her boundaries in that scene in the cafe.
  8. I record this show instead of watching live now, and fast-forward any time I see the camera cut to McBrayer. Or whenever Bialik starts doing some Vaudeville bit with cringeworthy puns. Pretty much I'm only sticking with it out of love for Swoosie Kurtz and in the faint hope that Cheyenne Jackson will take his shirt off again at some point.
  9. I don't like Hart at all, but he's in everything including multiple blockbuster movies, so it comes as no surprise that he's richer than Croesus.
  10. I didn't get that impression, but that she'd considered Paul very appealing in his former identity when they were classmates and his transition hadn't changed her feelings at all. If so, I say yay—Paul could do with some more story focus.
  11. Indeed. While I don't get why Tommy is so mortified about having unknowingly hit on her new pastor (or even why she would have been if she had known who he was at the time), the amount of mystery about why she felt compelled to in the first place is zero!
  12. To be fair, Namor returned from a long absence at the beginning of the Silver Age as a villain and repeatedly led big invasions of the surface world, so his actions in the movie didn't feel particularly off brand to me. I mainly question how the hell the Talokians got the intel to track down Riri Williams when everyone but Namor has blue skin and needs life support equipment above water.
  13. If anything, it had TK going "forget these missing women, what about Carlos?" I hope they got Phil Laak to wear the hoodie for that closing scene!
  14. Maybe they're trying to be inclusive and promote body positivity? The swimsuit/underwear brand of an entertainer I follow just branched out into using a chubby model for some of their web ads for bikini bottoms. (I applaud the intent, but seeing them just verified that skimpy swimwear would look horrifying on my body type, so I question their effectiveness at selling product. I'll never in a million years be buying any for myself.)
  15. I guess Bible thumpers see the loving prospective adopting couple's infertility as a judgment from God that shouldn't be tampered with. Clearly since it worked out that the unmarried woman who doesn't want the child is the one who got pregnant, she's the one who's MEANT to raise the child and will just have to deal, regardless of what her home situation with the obligatory new insta-husband will be like or whether she even wants to be a parent. Suck it, wanton hussy and cursed barren duo—if you'd just prayed better and lived godlier lives that embryo would have miraculously ended up in the other uterus and you'd all be happy instead of yearning for each other's situations!
  16. The child beauty pageants have always struck me as messed up, but I've had a bunch of cousins come up through dance classes and shows when they were younger (which is what is depicted in the commerical that sparked this discussion). The kids loved getting dressed up in glittery outfits and theatrical makeup and dancing in front of an audience, and I'd hate to see that taken away from them just because there are creepy people out there who are going to objectify children no matter what they're doing or wearing.
  17. I do like that all the drama is coming from Carlos' direction for once in that relationship. It might be good for TK to get an idea of what it feels like to have your life constantly disrupted by some crisis going on with your partner. I'm disappointed that Sgt. O'Brien turned out to be an actual neoNazi terrorist, but will give the show props for getting me to completely believe his I'm-also-undercover story.
  18. See, THAT I would have had an easier time buying than Shuri suddenly becoming a world class martial artist when she'd spent all her previous time and energy becoming the nation's leading scientific genius.
  19. Isn't Viola Davis too old to continue playing Amanda Waller? With tales of the DC characters' younger exploits being the priority of this new regime, you'd think Gunn would be looking to recast Eden Duncan-Smith or Marsai Martin in the role...
  20. Whoever decided that the wonderful Leslie Jordan's unfortunate absence should be filled by Jack McBrayer and his stock naive hillbilly character should be fired. And possibly executed.
  21. I didn't mind those so much, because I really did think Paltrow's performance was a worthy one, and I absolutely love Dame Judi Dench (even if hers may not have been). I too was more than fine with Shakespeare in Love beating out Saving Private Ryan, though Gods and Monsters and What Dreams May Come were the movies which impressed me most that year.
  22. I haven't ever seen any of Lawrence's award-winning performances, but her acting has been questionable enough in the movies I have seen that I'm skeptical she could have ever won anything except a Razzie without Weinstein's backing.
  23. Remember that in Amazing Spider-Man Connors came to his senses almost instantaneously when reverted to human. I think his villainy was already proven to be a result of whatever changes to his brain the lizard transformation caused.
  24. Anya's features are unusual enough, I don't think I'd be able to discern what changes are plastic surgery vs. what are the result of age and losing baby fat. I don't have a model for what she'd naturally look like as she gets older!
  25. I didn't get the sense she was all better. Maybe it's because I started watching in Season 2, but Iris immediately struck me (no pun intended) as unhinged/experiencing wild mood swings and lack of impulse control. I think madhacker has the right idea about where this storyline is headed. Oh well, at least the crazy person putting people in peril will be someone from Carlos' life instead of TK's or Owen's! People get married for a lot of reasons; I think sincerity of feelings only comes up legally if a green card is involved. Is there a good reason, other than DRAMA!, that Carlos and TK can't have a wedding ceremony at their dream venue in 8 weeks and just make things legal with a marriage license and Justice of the Peace later once they resolve the divorce proceedings? TK's not going to fall into another coma that Carlos can't kiss him awake from if he's married to someone else, is he?
