Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage
Bruinsfan replied to Maverick's topic in Commercials
In my revenge fantasy, the production assistant hated the premise of the commercial as much as I did and took special care to buy the giant-sized bulk bags of sugarless gummies. Hey now, it could be that doctor from the Lumē commercials instead of a man! -

I console myself with the thought that all those (over)actors better not have made any plans for later that day with all the Haribo candies they had to eat filming that commercial. -
I was kind of shocked to see a Men's Rights movement of the late 70s championed by shock jockeys mirroring ones that exist today, but apparently there were such groups in reaction to the push for the ERA.

In the house I lived in as a teenager the master bath was carpeted. That was Not Good. The closest I'll come to having that is memory foam bath mats over tile.

Oh, I hope this means we get to check in on Scott and the talking Quiznos toaster oven as an old married couple! -
Why is that segment of the fandom watching a movie starring a nonbinary actor who uses they/them pronouns in the first place? Did the spree of assaults and the poor gun control in a rural compound suddenly make Miller okay in their books?

Yikes! That's scary. Thankfully my own allergic reaction to a medication was much milder, hives on the sixth day of a ten-day routine of Augmentin (Amoxycillin). I recently found out that's the preferred treatment for infected cat bites though, so thanks to the reaction the more nervous of my cats had to moving I ended up on routines of two different less common antibiotics instead.

I had the same reaction as the Pride crowd to the Colin-Robinson's-face-on-the-back-of-Nadja's-head reveal—that was maybe the creepiest thing I've seen on a television show since Twin Peaks was airing!

Perhaps because that would cost money, and they have none left after the media blitz attempting to convince us that The Flash was the best superhero movie ever made?

I don't know, but they do deep fry it in America, and it's delicious! -
I think some of his major roles have enough edge to them that villainy should be within his range. Certainly Mad Max: Fury Road and Renfield demonstrate that he can do batshit crazy well if they want to go the mad scientist route with Luthor rather than corrupt tycoon. But agreed, just based on looks/type Hoult is no one's idea of Superman, whereas Corenswet might convince people with vision defects that Cavill remained in the role using de-aging VFX.

Yeah. Really rough for mass media entertainment in general, but when I consider just the effect on Warner Bros' upcoming promotions the idea makes me laugh and clap.

Miller must have picked up a whole bunch of tiki idols while they were breaking into people's homes in Hawaii!

Presumably a ghost could ride the spare seat of a tandem bike, but a living person would have to be powering it.

Say What?: Commercials That Made Us Scratch Our Heads

Wasn't there some craze for the horse head masks among the younger folk back in the mid-2010s? -
And hotter, don't forget that.

"Oh HELL No!": TV Moments That Make You Irate

I was unaware of all this, but now I've gone from vague dislike of the two to not being willing to use a fire extinguisher if either should be burning to death in front of me. -
Honestly, I think Wonder Woman is the only DC movie in the last 15 years that could have delivered on that.

If it doesn't open to box office numbers the WB execs hope for, will they threaten that Miller will break into our homes and assault us unless we buy tickets?

I remember Dad letting me have a sip of his Budweiser when I was a little kid, which was quite effective at eliminating any desire I might have had to drink alcohol during my most of my teen years. It took a college trip to the French Quarter to overcome that aversion.
