  1. The ashes closed into a line sealing the open threshold of the boathouse, the same way the McCall house sealed up tight in Season 3B. That open side probably meant that the "circuit" of the mountain ash barrier wasn't closed until Lydia threw the powdered bits, the same way werewolves can walk into Dr. Deaton's office unless he has the balustrade closed.
  2. I'm hoping if I've missed something obvious someone can point out what I've overlooked: is there any reason that Kira couldn't have resuscitated Scott immediately after his body was moved to the morgue? I mean, I get that the big show for the medical authorities was planned in case someone was monitoring the situation by mundane means, but why couldn't Scott be conscious and able to defend himself while they were waiting for the benefactor to show up? It's not as if Argent hanging around in or just outside the morgue armed to the teeth wouldn't tip someone off that it might be a trap...
  3. If the trailers I've seen couldn't keep people away, there was never any chance of bad reviews doing so.
  4. The hobbit may have realized that he'd be disregarded if he tried to say anything in support of the guy videotaped dragging a patient's body through the hospital. Though one would think if that body wasn't incinerated, it would be proof of something going majorly wrong to even post-autopsy examination. (Then again, apparently NYC only had one coroner, who worked with such infrequent outside contact that his disappearance hasn't merited investigation yet.) If the internet isn't working for all of NYC, doesn't that mean that the New York Stock Exchange is down as well? You'd better believe the government wouldn't just be sitting on that situation and hoping it gets better on its own.
  5. I generally liked the movie Fired Up, a Bring It On-ish cheerleading comedy from a few years ago, but the part that had me in stitches was when Eric Christian Olsen and Nicholas D'Agostino's characters unconsciously did a cheerleading routine to put a cereal box up in a high cabinet at their friends' keg party.
  6. In general, ANY moment when Tarantino is onscreen gracing us with his "acting" rather than behind the camera where he belongs is a disturbing one.
  7. Clayton Rohner! Whatever happened to him? I think the last thing I saw him in was that Good vs. Evil show back in the 90s.
  8. I'm just saying, the pot that subsists primarily on cabbage shouldn't be calling the kettle stinky...
  9. I was so glad to see Regina King's character make it out of Gabriel's place alive after OF COURSE twisting her ankle while running away.
  10. It was also in a small town where the city government and police had a vested interest in keeping everything covered up, and was before the era of ubiquitous camera phones.
  11. Honestly, my impression is that a couple of years ago Hoechlin thought it was funny, liked the prospect of more scenes with the show's most talented young actor (which usually turned out to be his own best/most popular scenes), and appreciated any attention from fans at all. But now that he's been through a bunch of conventions panels' worth of Sterek questions to the exclusion of what he's actually been putting effort into onscreen and has been told by either his management or show higher-ups to stop encouraging the pairing, it's become something of an uncomfortable subject.
  12. Didn't it turn out that all the people Peter murdered except Laura and his psycho nurse were accomplices in the Hale fire? I mean, not that he didn't also terrorize most of the Season 1 cast in "Night School" and try to make Scott kill them, but I think Laura Hale is the only person worthy of the title innocent that he actually succeeded in killing.
  13. I might choose the Luxor, since it would presumably be harder to get tossed out a window or have an angel come flying in through one if it's at a 51° slant and mirrored on the outside.
  14. Tippi's remark above. I'd assumed the guy Gabriel was possessing was himself a higher angel, with a body of his own.
  15. What's weird is, while I know they had to wrap up the episode in short order, there wasn't anything standing in the way of a quick fast-forward to everyone feeling better and the CDC letting quarrantined people go the following Wednesday or Thursday after they were sure the danger was past. That had to happen within a few remaining minutes in real time, but there was no need for it to happen that same Saturday within the show.
  16. It's not that I don't appreciate an over-the-top villain. I'm a longtime fan of Max von Sydow's Ming the Merciless, and Richard Roxburgh correctly realized that the only way to make it through Van Helsing with his dignity intact would be to eat his way out from under all the falling scenery. But while Pace does great at nice guy roles or quiet menace (as in the Hobbit movie), overdramatic boastful warlord just doesn't seem to be in his wheelhouse.
  17. This. It's gotten to the point that I dread any new announcement from WB because it's likely to be some other nonsensical casting choice (Brainiac will be played by Jonah Hill!) or production decision made of fail (it will be shot on B&W videotape!). I'm just crossing my fingers that Henry Cavill's Superman will still be in the movie by the time it's released.
  18. I'd argue that it didn't (I thought Pace was horribly miscast), but the movie wisely kept him mostly offscreen and concentrated on developing the ensemble of main characters. Making the story a bunch of criminal misfits learning to work together for a sort of heist caper eliminated the need for a compelling main villain as there were plenty of obstacles and personality conflicts for the characters to overcome without one.
  19. The bit with Goldblum smacking his head on a table and then psychometrically reading that someone had sex on it is hilarious. I can't resist a rewatch of Happy Gilmore or The Cutting Edge whenever I run across them on TV.
  20. Jim Carrey and Nicholas Cage are automatic "don't see this movie!" actors for me. Michael Bay casting Shia LeBeouf and Megan Fox together in the first couple of Transformers movies was a triple win for me, as I avoid all three. I really dislike Gwyneth Paltrow and the cloud of clueless entitlement she floats in, but I must admit she's a talented actress and can usually overlook my antipathy to enjoy her performances. I feel a bit guilty about it because he's apparently a great guy, but I have a visceral negative response to Timothy Spall and have to grit my teeth to get through any scenes he's in. I've even had it to an animated character he voiced in Enchanted before I realized it was him!
  21. Interview with the Vampire. I was a fan of the book, and like its author thought that Tom Cruise was horribly miscast, but he proved me wrong and owned the role of Lestat. Likewise Kirsten Dunst overcame my worries about a child actress living up to Claudia, and even Brad Pitt managed not to embarrass himself.
  22. Overall I really enjoyed the movie - Chris Pratt and most of the ensemble were great, the action was just right, and I loved the soundtrack. But I thought two of the three main antagonists were horribly miscast/handled. I love Lee Pace, but here he was playing a cliched cartoon villain and did nothing to elevate the role, and I don't even know what they were thinking having Michael Rooker as Redneck Smurf. Only Karen Gillan impressed me with her work.
  23. I still wish they had awakened to the sight of Deaton wearing a protective visor and coveralls with a bone saw in hand and Isaac standing in the background with shovels and garbage bags. "Oh! You're ali—awake! I mean awake! Back to Plan A it is, then."
  24. Also pretty famously a loyal husband and wonderful adoptive father, so he's got more than just a pretty face going on.
  25. I think the "You know how to whistle, don't you, Steve?" scene between Bogie and Bacall in To Have and Have Not is probably the sexiest moment in all of cinema, although everyone keeps their clothes on.
