  1. I don't know, I actually thought the Season 1 star-crossed romance between Scott and Allison was done pretty well. I like the way Scott and Kira are cute together and slowly developing into a romance instead of being all grand passion from Day 1. And I liked the contrast of Lydia and Jackson as a power couple in it for social status before they were retconned into twu wuv in Season 2. On the flip side we have said retconning, Lydia finding Aiden's abs more pertinent than the fact she witnessed him brutally murdering one of her classmates, Stiles' out-of-nowhere-and-back-again attraction to Cora, and Derek winning at Shakespearean Tragedy Bingo with his love life. I'd say the show is batting about 500 in its handling of romance, and it's too soon for me to tell whether Stiles & Malia is a hit or miss.
  2. Well, it may be tied with "Bob Barker as himself" in Happy Gilmore, but it is pretty great.
  3. I've actually read that Vegas is the place to go for the short term after a zombie apocalypse because it's powered by Hoover Dam and the electricity might run up to a year or so without human intervention before the system breaks down, whereas it's a few days at most in other cities. However 30 years later you'd need people maintaining the machinery and grid to keep it running, and unless the population has learned to live off poker chips and sand in the interim being smack dab in the middle of a desert is going to be a BIG problem.
  4. I'd actually like to see more of Lydia working together with Scott rather than Stiles. There were some nice moments with the two last season, and pairing them when the action starts would cover weaknesses in both characters (Scott not knowing what to do half the time and Lydia being helplessly abducted or menaced by villains at least that much).
  5. Despite all the fanon about Stiles being a special magical snowflake, I remember Jeff Davis explicitly saying back in Season 2 that it was the mountain ash, not him, that contained magic. Deaton was clearly using a metaphor to explain the use of willpower needed to activate its protective properties with that spark reference. Stiles has hopefully returned to being a resourceful but non-supernatural teenager now that the Nogitsune has been purged from him.

I suppose it makes sense in that knowledgeable opponents focused their efforts on the one kid who seemed to know what she was doing and made smart, effective moves as opposed to all the ones who were bouncing off walls to show off their parkour skills or just tripping over themselves. I know I'd gun for the girl shooting arrows into me before the boy who inexplicably starts breakdancing in the middle of a fight. Interesting that the amount Peter quoted for the missing bearer bonds is actually more than the total value of outstanding bonds the US Treasury still has. I wonder if the Hales were into counterfeiting?
  7. I think Jackson Hurst was by far the better looking of the two. Like a statue carved out of marble, or really pretty oak. Still don't get why they'd shuffle him off five minutes away from the end of the series.
  8. Sometime last year I got linked to a lengthy online focus group survey about this show, with lots of questions concerning my expectations for a Michael Bay-produced TV series. I remember telling them that with Bay involved I expected near-constant explosions and that Rhona Mitra would be required to do all her scientific investigations while dressed in a tank top.
  9. That is my all-time favorite bit from SNL. Just hilarious start to finish, as well as sounding wonderful thanks to Darlene Love. I've always had a fondness for the Happy Fun Ball commercial with its extra-long disclaimer. "Do not taunt Happy Fun Ball."
  10. I much preferred the last two Teen Wolf Revelations specials that Jill Wagner hosted, which had a larger cross-section of the cast and focused on more in-depth discussion of the show itself. But I get that men in their mid-forties are probably not the demographic MTV is interested in, so I can understand why the show was retooled for a teen audience with its party games, DJs, and whatnot.
  11. I don't know what the rationale is for Derek being de-aged, but the god whose shrine he was bricked up in is associated with the jaguar and could turn into one. Maybe Kate was performing a sacrifice to either gain more control of her new condition or cure it? Whatever the case, Tezcatlipoca wasn't a warm and cuddly god so I doubt whatever is happening with Derek is going to have pleasant consequences.
  12. The vibe I've gotten from the trailers I've seen is a sort of musical Kröd Mändoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire deconstruction of knightly tales and tropes. I hope they can keep it funny rather than having the boring patches that plagued that show.
  13. Overall I really liked it. The teen cast seems to be gelling really well together, and I like that Scott now has a pack that's acting as a mostly cohesive unit rather than everone being scattered and doing their own thing. Also, Kate and the Calaveras are more promising antagonists (and not necessarily villains in the latter case) to me than the Nogitsune and silent, faceless Japanese demons. My impression is that Peter has been making himself scarce since his resurrection. It's possible the Calaveras still thought he was dead until they caught him along with Derek last season. The things I find nitpicky about the situation are them scooping Kate up and never informing Chris or Gerard that she's still alive/a murderous shapeshifting threat, and that they know so much about Lydia and Kira when those two have only recently learned about themselves. Another thing I'm wondering, if an alpha's claws were enough to turn Kate despite her apparently fatal neck boo-boo, how is it that Braeden doesn't seem to be a were-creature after surviving being carved up by five alphas? Did Morell or another emissary do something magic to keep her from being infected?
