The Starling City Times: News and Media about Arrow
Featherhat replied to Grammaeryn's topic in Arrow
I wonder if it's an attempt to appeal to the Comics!Action!Only! crowd? For the "woohoo" best BC ever!" effect and she's just gone way overboard with it. Because JH is in great shape but doesn't do many of her own stunts and she wouldn't get to do any of the slow sultry line readings she seems to do all the time? Because even out and out action movies have dialogue, character moments and non fight scenes (and often a romance squeezed in). -
Shrug. If the Flash writers had wanted they could have had WestAllen have a reception or some sort of party/something else other than opening wedding gifts and being a Bridezilla about them (and not just about Olicity's gift either) and deleted the "interrupted honeymoon" scene they didn't. They preferred Bridezilla "jokes" and shade. I guess they think since they got a rehersal dinner and 90% of a wedding ceremony that's enough (as Barry and Iris actually mentioned in the Xover. Definitely, especially with what came out as the reason he was fired, I always thought he was more involved day to day in The Flash than SG. I do find it a bit hard to believe that they have to rework the season trajectory simply because of AK, although maybe if so its just tweaking rather than entirely reworking?

Social Media and Behind the Scenes: AKA Everything Else Not "News and Media"
Featherhat replied to Zalyn's topic in Arrow
I guess it's a pretty cool thing that fans are so passionate about something you are doing that they raised money to commemorate it, and that it's for charity and something that the public can enjoy is even better, so I'm not surprised he's enthusiastic. It also takes away from the Reddit narrative that all Olicity fans are toxic and the worst people ever, just like the relationship etc. But seriously if they want to raise money for their own positive project they should go for it. -

What do they expect? A group of fans who are so inspired by something that he's 50% of that they raise money for a park bench with a great quote on it and he's not going to say anything about it? To be fair if people wanted to do something similar to celebrate the GA/BC "pairing" he'd probably tweet about that as well, although they probably couldn't use many quotes from the actual show on it. And the "why has god abandoned us?" thing, SA has never been particularly enthusiastic about Lauriver in interviews or on screen and has yet to show much connection with Tinah, so it's not like this is a sudden turn around. -
His statement on twitter is rather ambiguous, could go either way. I do find it weird that they dedicated the first half of the season for the character to separating Firestorm and Jax proving to himself that he was still a hero even without powers if the intention was to ship him off after Garber left and it wasn't FD's decision.

Yeah I think they want to use that Mondays at 9pm for Life Sentence. Strange move though, especially during the Olympics. Well at least LOT is getting it's final episodes run straight through. I wonder if there's a 4 ep mini arc where it makes sense for SG to take a break or if it's going to be totally arbitrary.
-
Oh probably, I was briefly forgetting her. I didn't mind her in the Beebo ep and they're clearly setting up a romance but I don't want JM on as a regular, though it would even out the male/female ratio. I guess AD will do a few more episodes this season, though never full time again. He might end up with one of those "cross show" contracts. I'd say since he's part of the Wests he'll be bound to show up a few times on The Flash but QL barely remembers he has another daughter these days (see Wedding Watch) so that's no guarantee. I think he'll probably still visit the Flash even if he does actually become a LOT regular for a while and as I said LOT is really good at using it's ensemble cast so KL will probably have more to do. Though I can see why you'd want him on The Flash.

Click bait? It's not controversial to go "yeah OTA were mostly in the right the noobs suck!" It's not going to get tons of arguing comments and retweets etc. Plus there may have been nudges by PR people that OTA vs "NTA" is a thing that they really want to get people going with. This arc is going to end with OTA apologising to noobs and everyone's a happy part of the team again, don't you just love 3rdCanary, Mr Whiny and Wild Dong who screwed up their 3rd chances and stormed off in a huff and in Curtis's case with amnesia since he was terrible in the field and still wanted desperately to be in on the action. Click bait is most of the reason the professional review sites were all over Felicity's "worse than Nazi's" interruption last week, this week it's "Oliver (and Dig and Felicity) sucks!" At least most seemed to like the Olicity reception or at least tolerate it. Hee. They too could have had positive post wedding festivities, but nooo Bridezillas are funnier. No, no, no, no, no. Not unless she's shipped back to E2 and not to LOT or Team Arrow. -
Yep Wally. If there are two new characters joining please not Redeemed!BS, although that likely wouldn't happen until a possible S4 anyway. I hate that Jax is gone but Wally might fit in ok. He can take over mechanic duties and there are ways to put limits on a Speedsters powers and he needs to mature and become part of a team in a way he wasn't on The Flash. LOT is by far the best at using an ensemble to it's best advantage and mixing up characters so KL will probably end up with a better storyline and more to do on LOT if its permanent or semi permanent.
-
Yes the distinct lack of Beebo ruined it for me. And Constantine showing up asking for repayment of debts is still the most terrifying thing to happen on all four shows.
-
Plus they made JH a regular this season, if they had plans to re Canary BS they probably wouldn't have done that, they don't need two screamers on the team. Or if they do they'll ship her back to E2 to do hero-ing there. But it's probably all part of a convoluted CJ plan

Why are there so many people on Reddit comparing Arrow to Punisher? Arrow season 1 or Arrow in general is about as violent as the CW is ever likely to go, the two can't even compare, not to mention they aren't making 23 episodes a year.

Spoilers & Speculation: Running Hot & Cold
Featherhat replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Legends Of Tomorrow
Wally is only listed in "Therefore I am" on IMDb which everyone else is listed up until 4.23 (I know I know, not reliable) but they could easily switch him over to LOT as a regular or semi regular. I doubt FD will be in the credits in 3.10 but he was originally listed in all the episodes before it was reported he had actually left. Wally can always take over mechanics of the ship as well (sigh) and as @Sakura12 says he's inexperienced and naïve, susceptible to magic and has no experience with time travel. They managed to not use Firestorm's powers a lot and things like loss of gravity affect Speedsters. Though we still don't know if KL is there long term or just filling a guest spot for a couple of episodes before they bring in a new permanent member. Preferably not Ava. -
I thought the same thing when I was watching the episode. So finally got around to finishing it and I loved it. Best mid season finale of the 3 that have aired so far. Seriously, these writers make "Vikings worshiping a Furby makes them conquer America" work. How in the hell do that happen? Loved when Ava mentioned Beebo Day and quickly realised it was part of the anachronism. OK so they are going with Avalance, well I'm not as opposed to it as I was before this episode but it still wouldn't be my preference. Leo the counsellor with puppet Stein was surreal and hilarious as was everyone's reaction to it. WM and DP obviously work incredibly well together having done it for so long and Leo's confession that his misses his "Micky" was sweet and Mick's reaction was in character. I knew Nora was getting blown up when their guns crossed over from what Ray learned last season. Ray as Beebo was the best thing ever, except perhaps little Ray and Gumball. I didn't mind bringing in young Stein so soon after older Stein's death, the actor plays him really well and said exactly what older Stein would have (and basically did) tell Jax and I was balling like a baby. Sara's reaction to Jax's leaving was sad as well, she's loosing a little brother. I'm annoyed FD is leaving the show (with possible return guest spots) but the Christmas party was a good send off. Nate and Amaya failing to sneak Beebo away was the cutest that pairing has ever been. It does seem like Sara knows Constantine more than from than when he restored her soul since he peaced out pretty quickly and she was still recovering/with her family. And as others have said, having Constantine show up and ask you for a favour is more terrifying than getting the worst beat down of your life or being falsely accused of murder. Can't wait to see the next episode........In Feb grrr. It seems LOT did benefit from the positive press a lot of the characters received in the crossover since the ratings went up, lets hope people come back in Feb.

Tomorrow Today: Media & Behind The Scenes Of LOT
Featherhat replied to Trini's topic in Legends Of Tomorrow
Hmm, yeah that sounds like trying to put a good spin on something he didn't want to happen, kinda like KC's "change is good" (paraphrase) when she learned LL was in the grave in S4. But why would they dedicate 7 episodes worth of storyline to separating them and proving Jax could be a hero without powers if they were going to exit him anyway. If KL is filming for LOT this gives more credence to the fact that they decided to move him over on a more permanent basis, especially as Wally is also an engineer. If that's true it sucks, I like Wally but I way prefer Jax and his bonds with Sara and the rest. -
Luck be a Lady was the one where Iris sat in on a funeral in her wedding dress, barged past the casket whilst complimenting the wood to the relatives, climbed up and covered the dead guys picture, demanded the strange priest marry them there and then and then told him to "snap out of it" when he became seriously ill. It's safe to say someone thinks bridezillas are hilarious. She had reasons to be paranoid but still.
-
Well going by the crossover Oliver is going to be much more of a groomzilla. "But I want the big wedding and reception and cake and I can't think about Nazis until we talk about this" etc fight. Not to mention he might have proposed on one knee at someone else's rehearsal dinner if not for Ninjas. And Felicity gets the blame for that *rolleyes* I agree with that but they spent so much time trying to separate them and prove Jax is more than just Firestorm that it seems weird that he's now gone forever after all that. I wonder if KL is moving over at least semi permanently or just for a couple of eps, because someone said the reason he's disappeared on The Flash is that he was filming a movie.
-
Do we know if that was the reason? In ep 7 they spent a lot of time proving Jax could be a hero without powers (saving LBJ etc) and acknowledging that Sara was the biggest bad ass and had never had any powers and separating Firestorm so that Jax could still be on the show. There must be some other reason he's leaving. Yeah from the clip I've seen I think it was supposed to be a "joke" in the same way Dibney reciting women's stats was a "joke". Iris could be annoyed about Felicity interrupting at that moment (though she didn't seem so at the time) but the "chuck it on the return pile" was just rude bridezilla and didn't exactly do her any favours.
-
No, I didn't think Jax was really gone! Why go to all the bother of trying to separate Firestorm if both were leaving. Guess they'll be announcing Wally as a replacement soon. I haven't had a chance to watch the Beebo episode yet but it sounds like pure LOT insanity. But seriously, if you're curious about LOT definitely check it out, it's the most insane of the Arrowverse shows and leans into that and the dynamics between the characters are the best of all shows, especially how they can mix and match so easily, pick random storylines out of a hat "Helen of Troy" "In Old Hollywood" and make it work. For any Arrow fans who haven't seen it I'd recommend Star City 2046 which features SA as Old!Oliver and is pretty cool if dystopian and uses other characters were know/have heard about. Not planning on watching the Flash mostly because of Dibney but ugh, sigh about this wedding thing still going on, it's not really making anyone look good. I guess Arrow might bring it up in the context of Thea, Donn etc being annoyed they weren't there.
-
Yeah that's probably the reason and kind of sucks because if anyone deserves to be attacked by an angry Iris it's Dibney. So I guess it won't be mentioned much, que moaning about Olicity's wedding reception. Sigh. I do hope they reference it or celebrate it somehow, even if it's just comments from Joe or Cisco.
-
I really hope they back off with Ava as Sara's LI. They have nothing but antagonism between them and not the good love/hate sexual tension between them. Wally wouldn't be the worst idea, although if he straight up replaced Jax, no way, FD needs to keep being on the show. A speedster might be awkward to work into the show, but they did establish some limitations with Thawne last season (gravity etc) He and Nate have already worked together and The Flash doesn't know what to do with him. I'm just relieved it's less likely to be BS or some other version of LL. Gah, Ralph, I was actually watching this season of the Flash until he showed up and now no. Just no. I don't want to watch a total douche bag slowly learn how to be a "hero" or marginally less of a douche, it's been done 1 million times before.
-
Well that might answer the question of whether she wanted more time off or something happened BTS or they put her on a reduced contract to cut costs etc. Thea has barely had anything to do even when the storylines have been about her, it's always been Malcolm and Oliver with her often a pawn or in a coma.

Spoilers & Speculation: Running Hot & Cold
Featherhat replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Legends Of Tomorrow
Well I would take Wally over LL in a (Kid) Flash ;) And the Flash doesn't really know what to do with him. But I really hope Jax comes back though, I don't want them to simply switch them out for the other, Jax is really a huge part of the team and Sara's little bro, Wally doesn't need another big sister.
