Yeah I get why some people want a redemption arc, but since I personally wasn't a fan of the character, it's not a story I want to spend time with and I don't think KC will have improved any as a "good doer" character I don't think it's worth doing, especially because also being BS means she'll probably still do the smirking everywhere. And what the hell point of bringing her back as BS would there be in the first place if she was being redeemed? And when a lot of people say they want her redeemed, they mean "redeemed and happily with Oliver" which, again no thank you since I think the actors would still generate anti chemistry and because storywise, not only both Lance sisters but a Lance sister doppelganger Ollie? Yuk. I can't see to get any screenshots or anything but think toddler tantrum with complete internet misogyny about FeFe and Friends and she and Oliver switching places (for one damn episode), blah blah cakes. It is funny some of the time but I don't want it to get to the point where their spew becomes so loud it gets so loud media sites start reporting on it again. It's fine if you don't like a character but yeesch.

He's never had much business being out in the field, just his name and I can't take his mask seriously at all, not to mention pouting about having to stay in the bunker this episode and run comms. But if he returns to the bunker fulltime then it's going to mean Felicity sharing more of her screetime with him than she already does.

The Starling City Times: News and Media about Arrow
Featherhat replied to Grammaeryn's topic in Arrow
I thought that was supposed to be funny rather than anything else, they're an attractive celebrity couple, of course they're going to be gossiped about by old ladies etc. Curtis could stand to dial it the fuck down when he's talking about them face to face but he's to make fun of *us* not tell viewers to like them. I've seen shows that have to tell you to like a storyline *cough* Ray and Rayporter *cough* that wasn't it. -
Well they are quite popular around here and it was a big episode for them, maybe people can put further gifs in character or relationship threads? Though I don't think it's that bad at the moment. Possibly, I can see them keeping her at least good-gray for now and keeping being on CJs side for later on if necessary. KR can play that kind of character.

So unsurprisingly I really enjoyed this episode. ME playing CJ was the least surprising but most awesome casting this show has done in a long time and I think I'm really going to enjoy it going forward. Loved the Olicity scenes, they were communicating, who'd have thought that was possible last season? And crazy hot but we knew that already. I enjoyed random strangers and Alena asking if they were back together, not just the team. Nice to see Alena again as well KR is a good actress. This was even one of KC's best episodes in her run on the show, ME was able to pull a decent performance out of her in their scenes, although I'm still not a fan of her walk. Yep. Olicity pretended they were never even in a relationship let alone about to get married for 3/4ths of last season, it's not like one episode is too much to ask. And whilst it was a big part of last night's ep, it wasn't the sole focus of Felicity's storyline, it was as much about her guilt over Helix and Alena as anything else. It's 100% fine if it's someone's least favourite part of the show but romantic relationships were a big focus of the show from the beginning, See: Sister Swapping Clusterfuck/woman caught between two best friends, Diggle in love with his ex sister in law etc. If it wasn't Felicity involved with Oliver it would be Laurel or someone else getting focus. And it's not like it's going to be the only focus this season, the next two episodes are likely to be light on Felicity and heavy on Slade. Diggle and Dinah are having storylines and so is Curtis, it all works out, except for poor Thea stuck in a coma and no one cares.

Yeah I did put it out there into the world, oops. (!) Yeah I doubt E1LL would have given it up, unless she was having a meltdown re the situation but hey according to KC's headcannon a meltdown is exactly what lead to E2LL becoming BS (so kid?) shut up Featherhat. I do think E1LL would have kept it for various reasons and it's unlikely that Oliver will ever have genuine feelings for BS but eh, it's "what's the worst that could happen fanfiction. ;)" I was really surprised Samantha never said anything about Moira trying to spend time with the kid or anything. She wasn't 100% heartless in that S2 scene with Samantha, just 85%, and she was doing it out of misguided love for Ollie and cleaning up his mistakes. After he "died" I can't imagine she wasn't at least curious to know about the only part of him left. But that's another thing they barely touched on in S4, how Oliver felt about Moira's involvement in the initial cover up and apparent poisoning of Samantha against him (despite it being her decision to agree, to tell him she miscarried, for which she never apologised). Then again, pod people were in place for this storyline, despite paternity and secrets being a major, major storyline for more than a few characters before then. Sigh.

Rip Hunter: Master Of Time But Not Its Lord
Featherhat replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Legends Of Tomorrow
There's the thing about Rip. I kind of get where he's currently coming from, a little, though I don't really agree with it. He recruited the Legends to help him save his wife and son and at the end of the season he found out that the reason they were targeted by Savage in the first place was because he'd recruited the Legends to save them. Not really their fault, especially as he lied to them to get them aboard and manipulated them quite a bit through out S1, but it is still hard to somtach. Not long after that he erases himself, finding himself in the LOD and wakes up just in time to see everything go to hell again on the Legends watch, part of it were their fault, parts of it weren't but he isn't around to see that much if it. Then they break time for real! So he's gonna recruit the complete opposites of the Waverider crew and by gods he's going to drill them like the time masters drilled him to make sure this never happens again. I get that reaction. But that's where my sympathy kind of stops. 1) He was on the Waverider when they broke time, just didn't hang around to see how, so that is on him as well, he knew what havoc they'd caused in 1916 with everything. 2) He knows they didn't do it on purpose but it was either that or reality itself was fucked. 3) With what he knows about the threats they face/d does he really think the TB can arrest people like the LOD. No that's why he still knows he needs the Legends so why the constant nastiness about them? 4) Dude you're probably creating the *forerunners* of the time masters not the after comers, so you're creating the path to the people who let Vandal Savage run riot and rule over the ashes of Earth the Thangarians, a no win future to say the least. 5) You're best agent is easily beaten a game of chicken against Sara "What just death again? Bored" Lance, someone you helped groom for leadership, maybe want to think about who can get things done? -
I've been having kind of a bad morning so far but the thought of SA's face if they'd told him they were carrying on with the Diggle as GA storyline for now so he wasn't required for the crossover made me laugh. Given that there's also supposedly a "civil war" type storyline brewing the fallout of 6.07 will probably lead into that with various people thinking various things should have been handled differently. It wouldn't entirely surprise me if it's as you say, Dig is left taking the fall (hey yet another person with close personal ties to Oliver being "outed" as the Arrow/GA (both of whom look like the same OQ shaped guy). It's a reasonable/convenient on going storyline for them, how many times did Lance suddenly become anti vigilante/sure it was Oliver? Though I would imagine their Legion of Doom will start to take more centre stage in 6b as they did with LOT, even if they aren't all aware they're a Legion/Team Villains group.
-
And here I thought my "Oliver finds out Laurel was pregnant when the Gambit went down and gave the kid up for adoption, never telling him about it. BS sees the kid and instantly falls genetically in love with it redeeming her and she and Oliver live happily ever after with him/her" was just nightmare fanfiction. ;)
-
That would mean that the people involved would have had to act like actual human beings and not pod people though, which was really hard to do for everyone involved in that storyline apparently. Because it's not like Oliver *knew* that Felicity had met her father for the first time in 18 years or anything or that she might have suggestions about how to protect William or work around/change Samantha's idiotic plan for Oliver in their kid's life.
-
Well if that had been the explanation they wouldn't have been able to throw in some well written and subtle pointed sledgehammer to the face political commentary. And maybe they wanted to be a bit different from the regular "only religious parents can't except their children's sexuality. It still doesn't make much sense though "I'm so worried about you having to face extra discrimination like I have all my life that I threw you out of the house, cut off contact with you and refuse to see that you have a support network of people who love you and your fiancée. Yeah that made total sense. He definitely became the bigot he hates in other people.

It would have been nice if Linda had been able to come back since she's a shown on the screen good friend of the bride. I'm not exactly thrilled with the double wedding but it's happening and the pap video doesn't look bad at all for either couple, so I'm in hopeful wait and see mode for it making sense for the occasion. The original wedding has been well and truly ruined by then anyway. I'm sure The Flash will do something to celebrate the marriage, Joe will want to celebrate his son's marriage if nothing else.

I wondered about the Samantha/William situation. Oliver suddenly produces a 12 year old that he never knew about fathered when he was in a relationship with his deputy's daughter (dead) and says his mother's also dead and he'll be looking after him. Presumably he also had to deal with William's distraught grandparents who might never even have known Oliver was his father and might have wanted custody/been in Samantha's will to do so. Then at the same time his sister is in a long term coma with another cover story. Oliver was very snarky at the press in this episode but he really shouldn't be considering the could have treated that like the 2nd sinking of the Gambit for juicy scandal.

It started becoming ridiculously charming for me sometime last season. It wasn't always great but it ended up being consistently fun and finally had some Flarrowverse writers who knew how to write for an ensemble and mix and match characters every week. Even the LOD had an episode where they argued over the mission and then learned the value of teamwork and honesty. :) And they did the greatest thing of all, made me happy that Malcolm Merlyn was still alive to chew scenery. The first two episodes of this season were slightly meh, especially ep 2 IMHO but ep 3 has more than made up for it and Ep 4 with Teeny Ray looks fun. I will laugh if they use the same street for Ray's childhood home as they did for Olicity's domesticity in same location in S4. I love that Amaya is staying for Zari and I hope Sara gets in on that rather than being stuck with an Ava centric plot. Well there are some spoilers about who her love interest might be and Amaya didn't have one (apart from her dead one) until literally the ep she hooked up with Nate "for warmth" yeah it was that cliché, although it gave Nick Zano the chance to deliver one of his best lines: "Hitler ruins everything" in a dead pan way. I really miss Captain Canary. I know WM did not want to be a regular in S2 but yeah they had chemistry and its not surprising that Sara might warm (pun not intended) to someone who is also on a redemption journey which didn't have the baggage she and Oliver or she and Nyssa did.
-
Yeah I've been assuming that was at least part of it, that he needed to be written action light for a while, but I wish they'd given *Oliver* SA's injuries which could combine with his being a single Dad and not wanting to leave William an orphan. Having Diggle be a dumbass by hiding his injuries, especially when he also has a kid and wife with a high risk job is really annoying. I guess it's to give DR some meatier idiot for plot storylines so that Tinah something to do as well.
-
Ray Palmer is Jewish in the comics but nothing has been said on the shows. It would make sense because it would be another reason why he and Felicity should be perfect for each other but ended up not being. Stein is actually a Rabbi although that's never come up on LOT but he married Ronnie and Caitlin on The Flash., Jax used to go to Sunday school as a kid so his mother is a practicing Christian, at least some of the others are probably culturally Christian if not believers. They managed to go a whole season talking about the spear of destiny and the blood of Christ without any discussion of beliefs coming up except for Rip acknowledging they can't go back to the crucifixion to get more of Jesus's blood(!) for the obvious reasons of not wanting to bog the show down in it. I think they handled the mentions of it ok for Zari but it might end up a bit weird if they keep bringing up her beliefs and no one elses (if any).
-
Yes if they were planning a redemption and joining the team this season I don't think they'd have made JH a regular, since that would entail probably killing off yet another Canary character and they wouldn't have bothered or they'd have suddenly found a way to resurrect E1LL with Sara's help or something. Yeah KC is getting better notices as BS (not that I necessarily agree with them) and turning her back into BC would completely negate why they killed the character off in the first place. I doubt it very much too, but it is a question that keeps popping up for obvious reasons and I'm just considering the possibilities since its not like these writers haven't pulled stuff out of their asses before and KC seems to be pulling for the idea, again for obvious reasons. But like I said up thread its most likely talking points left over from 5.10 because they haven't got anything else on the table yet and can't reveal who/how she'll be working with right now.
-
Yeah I agree with that. They're not going to kill anything by saying "no never!" right now but it doesn't seem on the cards until at least later in the season. I guess it also depends on if they bring KC back for another year after that in S7. It's not out of the question that Oliver will end up like Lance and see BS as a way to "save" LL. The writers have said they've taken to just calling her "Laurel" and whilst she is *a* Laurel that doesn't mean they won't conflagrate the two in the future. It's not a storyline I would in any way be interested in but I see quite a few people are. Well dude is helping the person who murdered his mother in front of him and his sister and is also a mass murderer among other things. Which he also did with MM. If the writers wanted to do it, that wouldn't stop them. I do think it would be an insult to the original E1LL for Oliver to put more effort into saving her evil counterpart than any attention he paid her since he finished with her in 2.14 but that's the way this show rolls sometimes.

Crossover Spoilers 2017: Crisis on Earth-X!
Featherhat replied to MarkHB's topic in Legends Of Tomorrow
The trouble with that it, that if he appeared it would immediately become All.About.Superman, especially in the media. The crossovers are already so stuffed with characters that I really don't want him worked in. If they want him and Barry to meet or him and Oliver so they can have their verison of BvsS or FvsS they should do it in another episode on Supergirl but even then it's taking the focus off Kara on her titular show and making it about two guys. There would be enough of that if Oliver ever met Mon-El, especially since pre Island Ollie has some similarities to Mon-El as Prince of Daxam. -
It's the only thing I can think of, especially with SA doing his "i'll talk about it when there's something to talk about" thing on social media and the nearly identical quotes whenever anyone's asked about it, and nearly identical to last year. I'm sure there's something to talk about eventually but it doesn't seem to be imminent.
-
On one hand I understand it. she's played by someone who was a friend/ally of the team and KC is encouraging the redemption talk and I guess it's natural to wonder if she'll be redeemed, especially as the show has already brought it up. But we know Oliver and BS don't have any one on one scenes in 1-8 at least and most likely not 9 as well and so far it's very clearly been her E1 counterpart's father that has understandably been desperate for redemption/interaction with her and Oliver was somewhat sympathetic to Lance but not very interested in going there, and we know his storyline for the next few episode is heavy on other things and light about BS and the episodes where KC seems to have filmed the most were ones SA didn't and/or is going to be involved with a different "redemption" plot with Slade. I wonder if they are jus defaulting to 510 type quotes because they keep getting asked about it and have to say something? Unless they have been told something about 6b they're allowed to tease.
-
It would be/would have been within BS's nature to crash the party and the chance to be meta about stuff again but I guess not. Thea should have a scene with her new sister in law but then she should have had interaction when they got engaged and she didn't.
-
I don't think they'll go as far as getting a divorce, but I do think there will be some sort of separation sooner or later. And the Flash has all the wedding build up going on, including last night's episode so less need for a reception.
-
Finally a good episode this season. I really liked Zari and I think she'll fit in well with the team. I enjoyed her bonding with Mick and Amaya and it will be interesting to see women from 100 years apart interact. I loved that Amaya's reason for staying was Zari and her totem and not Nate, and Nate's face when she said it. I didn't massively mind Nate this episode, his acting stoned was better than acting like a giant goober fro no reason. I think he genuinely wants to help Amaya but how he got there was eyeroll worthy. I liked Amaya's comment to Sara about finally understand what "mansplaining" was, heh. Sara didn't have a huge amount to do but I enjoyed the timeship chicken and that it was Ava who blinked. Obviously. Not sold on Ava but she was better than before. I still can't stand the TB and their distain for the Legends when they can't get there in time to sort things out themselves, when they have a TIMESHIP as well. Gary the Goober is ok but I hope they use him sparingly. I enjoyed Kuasa's introduction and that they didn't draw the reveal that she's Amaya's granddaughter out.
-
All that is true and he's probably at least somewhat justified in his concerns but that doesn't in turn justify *his* awful homophobia, especially when Maggie clearly has a network of people who love her as she is. And yes I do want an explanation of why that's a thing! when Pres Lynda Carter is around even if it is Sen Ronald Crumb as her nemesis. Plus when an alien invasion from the sky has happened how does that change anything? And it's not just this example it's all the political points they to make in the most ham handed way possible within quite a few episodes. I agree with the general point a lot of the time but as I've said before it's written with the nuance of someone who's just discovered Bad Things Happen in a social studies class and writing an angry essay about that. Nothing wrong with that per se but it can take you out of the episode and actually harm the message you want to send. Especially as in Ep 1 they apparently got CF to record "Obvious Cakes our President is Awesome and Not a MORON!" within a couple of days of that story breaking. At least join it up with what's actually going on in the show more fluidly.
