  1. I suspect they knew fans would be frustrated by the long amount of time and this is just a side affect of the way they planned their season. Something happened in the mid series premiere to keep people on the edge of their seats and won't come to a head until the finale arc starts to kick into gear. They've always had pacing problems, it's just extra frustrating this time. And I guess maybe they felt that since Siri is there it's not like an Iris isn't interacting with her "loved ones". I never felt for a moment it was a way to keep CP and GG separated. I truly hope there is some fallout, both actors would kill it and deserve meaty material and more than just putting a band aid on it. I don't think Barry needs to be hung drawn and quartered for it but I do hope Iris had a POV on how it felt to know there was a clone of her walking around and no one noticed, even though Siri has been a pretty good gaslighter so far. And some of Siri's observations about their relationship in the beginning, although that's possibly less likely. Whilst I don't expect Iris to be Eva, I don't think she has to be the opposite of her pain and rage either. However if there were supposed to be any big emotional epiphany moments in the final two episodes those most likely aren't happening now and who knows how they'll try and wrap everything up at the beginning of S7 or a S6 coda.
  2. Yeah they wasted no time in setting up some well worn tropes. Hopefully they will be expanded on in the coming episodes as this pilot did have a lot of ground to cover. I thought it was interesting and definitely ambitious for a Freeform show. The setting themselves on fire was creepy and everyone jumping to their deaths. I liked the credits, I thought they were beautiful. So every witch is conscripted around the world to fight other witches for their country and have a life expectancy of no more than 50 except if you get a dispensation and this has lasted for three hundred years except for a small amount conscientious objectors in communes and "The Spree". Interesting that they used the Lord's Prayer as a spell in the beginning. I thought it was too obvious for the brunette rebellious witch/necromancer to be Spree, I thought it was going to be anyone else or would end up being revealed that the General was secret Spree or the true believer or Abigail Bellweather because she actually disagreed with or resented her mother. And does Fort Salem not have wards up to protect against the suicide balloons? I could have done without the magical vagina marks that get shiny when you lose your virginity. So unlike the Magicians where magic is a combination of elaborate hand gestures and words this is all voice based. I guess it's a deliberate play on speaking up and making your voice heard. I'm much more interested in Abigail and Tally than Raelle who does seem to suffer from maincharacteritis. And the older cadet/junior officer who is trying to keep them all in line and not have any of them sent out to die immediately. I'll definitely give it a couple more episodes.
  3. Berlanti told EW to hire a black female writer this season and EW gave interviewers some "can't find the right person/now's not the time excuse" so I don't think he'd be instructing them to down play the romance. I suppose someone at the CW or WB but they signed off on a black Iris in the first place, they could have demanded a white red head. So it seems silly to demand they not interact as a couple a lot of the time. Nate/Amaya were the only couple on LOT for S2 and most of S3 and we got plenty of "insight" into their kinky sex life and it was also played as very much love, albeit rushed. Now Nate and Zari (also interracial) are a big thing, even though they aren't the only big couple. We had as much as the CW will show us of a threesome with an Indian character last year. Mia/JJ were pictured in bed and half naked with each other and if the spin off gets picked up there's probably going to be a love triangle with the Diggle brothers (sigh) with at least one of them being her OTP. Those showrunners aren't afraid to show both romance and some sexiness. I'm not saying racism or hiding behind what the "what the audience is comfortable seeing" isn't going on but I think there are other factors at play as well which are more on their minds, especially the kids argument and the more noticeable "noromo" stuff in general. Are there that many people who have a huge problem with the interracial aspect still watching the Flash? Wouldn't they have given up years ago, and if they're still watching they won't suddenly stop because WestAllen are a little more intimate. There were concerns about Ralph/Sue taking over the show with their White Coupleness pandering to racists but that hasn't happened either, her next episode is 4 after her first one and two people of colour have been announced as regulars for S7 whilst she hasn't. But I guess I really don't know. Will be interesting to get some thoughts from the cast once the show finishes.
  4. Yes. You don't have to have them be having sex but you should mention that they haven't been intimate (and not just sex) and that this is something "Iris" is adjusting to post Crisis and whether they're still on the same page. Otherwise if it doesn't get mentioned at all in the emotional fallout you're left with the impression that two 30 year olds in early marriage who haven't been together that long don't have sex. There was discussion when they got married in early season four after not being together that long that the writers just wanted to check the "Barry and Iris are married" off their list of things to get done so they could focus on the things they liked writing better (action, male bonding, jokes) and also so they could start bringing in their speedster descendants from the future, which also: check. It's not hard to give them a few more scenes here and there and even tie it in to what's going on in the episode.
  5. I think it's supposed to show that human prejudices are stupid and incomprehensible to Kara's alien/third party thinking therefore we should all agree they're illogical and hateful. (No arguments there). But it does come across as Kara is the naivest and most incredulous Pulitzer prize winner out there. Not to mention uncaring and uneducated unless it happens directly to her small circle of friends. She has lived on Earth since she was 13 and grown up where these prejudices existed in daily life and pretty much every time you go on the internet or read anything, if not impacting her personally. And worked in a profession that should make them impossible to ignore. Not to mention we have seen that Krypton had it's own prejudices and questionable cultural norms that she's had to confront.
  6. It's possible Siri has been keeping her distance. But Barry should have noticed or make comment on it when everything is revealed "Oh I'm so glad she kept her hands to herself! Even though I thought it was strange that she wasn't interested at the time I didn't push." Couples don't have to be going at it all the time but for two young people of 30ish who have just survived a Crisis that they thought was going to be the death of one of them, they should be celebrating that within the "Iris in the mirror" timeframe of weeks or months. And they've only been together four years and married for two. I don't really care about the sex per se, although it won't do anything for the "WestAllen are sexless" stuff but I would really like them having to deal with some meaty stuff in their relationship over things that happened with Siri and some of the very good points she brought up when she first got there.
  7. Fringe had Fauxlivia in a relationship with Peter who believed she was his Olivia and there was fallout from that by the bucket full. TVD had a lot of issues surrounding Katherine (doppelganger of Elena) and what she meant to Stefan and/or Damon. Not quite the same but when there were two Crichtons on Farscape and Aeryn had a relationship with one but not the other there was fallout. Most shows go for some type of angst and drama when this type of thing happens. So they most certainly shouldn't gloss over it as it is a legitimate thing to get upset about even though Barry thought he was with his wife. Unless they want to say Westallen don't actually have any sexy times or intimate moments for months at a time off screen.
  8. I think it's stretching out the number of new episodes/content as long as possible. The CW *theoretically* had plenty to replace LOT with when it finished its run but that might be up in the air now, and they will be looking towards what the hell to do about next season if this carries on for months, not to mention they're still worried about a writer's strike. ETA: I'm going to miss Ray so much and that in itself is a massive journey considering how much I disliked his stalking, hypocritical ass in S3 of Arrow.
  9. When Jake and Amy first got together people were really worried that it would take over the show and become the "Jake/Amy shenanigans show" and it didn't, the writers were careful to keep the balance and had/have many episodes where Jake/Amy aren't in a storyline together or it's a throwaway line. They've kept and grown their relationships with other characters and other characters have had relationships played out on the show: noticeably Rosa with Adrian and her sexuality storyline. I can't see that a baby would be much different. Ok yes, they're probably going to play out the new parents storylines and also bring back the competitive grandparenting foursome but there will be episodes where he/she isn't mentioned at all or just off screen with the minder or grandmas.
  10. Is he isolating and bored? I guess production on his new show has been postponed a bit. Could be interesting, although I feel like he might need some alcoholic lubrication to spill anything particularly juicy or be on a podcast with a friend ala AT and MR. We'll see what happens.
  11. Yeah I just read that. It seems like she was very lucky not to have been killed, but as it is her life is changed forever. This is at least the 2nd serious accident in less than one season, I hope they take the hiatus to review safety procedures. The crew have set up a GoFundMe page to help with expenses because especially with the shutdowns, it's going to take a while for any official money to come through.
  12. No or at least it's highly unlikely. Whilst current COVID-19 shutdowns plus writer's strike could kill some shows it won't affect The Flash unless it lasts a *really* long time and gets into massive contract trouble with S7 being the last on many original cast members. Deadline said it might short term help some bubble shows because most pilots are shut down half way through production and it's easier to scrap them and go with the shows where the set up is already done and begin again next season. Again The Flash isn't a bubble show and was already renewed. Is CP's SM usually a good gauge? For some actors it seems like they were barely on set and when the eps air they have a good storyline and just weren't posting from set much. It does seem like she gets out in "Liberation" but why would she barely have any time in the three episodes after that? Obviously it's been a problem in other seasons but surely they'd need her around to sort out both the personal/relationship problems that have come up and as a member of Team Citizen/Flash to go after Eva/Blackhole, she's deeply tied into it this season.
  13. The fact that it's the 10 most iconic ones as well is exactly the same thing they do on soap opera sites. And if nothing came of it then it's just there for random titillation and buzz. Not to mention: They would have been justified having more than one BMD storyline if they were following comics canon! And anyone who says it would have worked out if it had been with Laurel instead of Felicity is deluding themselves, partly due to kid fathered during actual cheating in the relationship.
  14. Yes I saw that as well. At cons (or in my case videos of cons) you can see that he's actually a soft spoken and seemingly intelligent and thoughtful person, nothing like either of his most famous characters or at any rate the tough guy parts they're most known for. Sigh. Yeah that was my thought a few weeks ago. They've got Ava there to replace her as captain if need be but then they need her to be there for Avalance, although a Sara tangible hologram/robot would do the trick in terms of characterisation.
  15. It really depends, there's a lot of people involved and a lot different factors, and that's assuming everyone involved stays healthy. Even if they go back to work certain locations might be too risky. For many countries they're saying it's going to get worse before it gets better (at minimum) and even a slight risk is probably not worth it from anyone's perspective. They could end up throwing together a couple of quick episodes in late April but who knows? Especially with them already looking towards the writer's strike affecting S7. They might try and end it on a cliff hanger and extend any contracts that need extending for that. I can't see ep 20 being a satisfying ending for a season as that's when it's just ramping up. Most procedurals that have stopped production seem unlikely to resume so no one is expecting it to just be a quick two week break I don't think.
  16. Dominic Purcell has stated that he isn't leaving this season on his Instagram. So that's something, and I'm not sure I can see the show lasting past a theoretical S7 anyway. And if they do then yeah they'll probably rotate Mick out. Caity has already denied leaving a few weeks ago and seems very interested in next season's crossover so she's probably not out this year and these storylines for Mick and Sara are just storylines or in Sara's case used to explain why she's not around much during the filming of the crossover or the Arrow finale.
  17. Does anyone know what number they were on? No one wants to be the company that sends its shows back to work and then someone contracts it so it could be a while, in just in case mode. If it goes on for more than a few weeks then they might just end this season early and go back into next season or attempt to throw together a couple of wrap up episodes and deal with the fallout in S7. Assuming the WGA doesn't also strike and throw things into even more chaos. I imagine this might also affect the possible early start for Supergirl and the accommodation of MB's pregnancy into the show.
  18. Caity said she wasn't going anywhere when people worried about what she was posting on Instagram about new beginnings. It was most likely about her break up. It seems like way too much of a random send off for Sara unless she's being shoved over to the new potential spin off (nooooo!!) but even then getting dropped off in the future by the Waverider would be easier. I would imagine there's more to be revealed, especially if CL needs more episodes off this season to film the crossover/Arrow finale. With Mick DP posted something that sounded quite a bit like goodbye to LOT a few months ago and this would be one way of giving him a good send off for next season if not this one, ala Lily Stein. But we haven't heard anything more and maybe this is just an actual storyline for him and those don't come around often so we don't know what to make of it. I can't really see them getting rid of Ray, Sara and Mick all in one season. Much as I enjoy the show I would certainly be out. I'm iffy with Ray and the way that was apparently handled and he wasn't even my favourite character. I'm not watching for Captain Ava and her "quirks" or Nate and his relationships much as I also love Zari. Caity could have been lying about stay but they announced BR and CF leaving early and announced VG leaving before he did, I imagine if one of the other OGs are leaving there will be an announcement before or at least strong rumours. If/When Sara goes I imagine it will be a big deal finale (heh) heroic death or wedding and babies with Ava (meh) like Stein, Rip, Snart and Ray. Again unless they've made a deal for the GAATC spin off which seems fairly unlikely.
  19. Arrow and MG made it clear Oliver= Spectre, that's how he was able to change things a d be alive and in a paradise dimension and also able to do guest appearances if/when the actors want to. I guess it wasnt egregious here but it's a sensitive spot because of the writers taking any opportunity to bash Oliver. Because The Flash wasn't ending yet. The same reason why everything is great in Star City for 20 years but not Central City and that changes when they're trying to set a spin off.
  20. I doubt they'll actually kill her off in the first season finale. They know RS is a big part in giving the show it's own hook rather than just being a random female version of Batman/Arrow. There's also a lot of places they could be tempted to go with the sisters/redemption angle still, which they show Alice being alternatively telling Kate Beth is dead don't bother with the begging and being very upset when Kate gives up on her. However this 'Verse is full of villains who were awesome in their time but wore out their welcome because they kept coming back and sometimes got a half assed redemption storyline to keep them around, so we'll see how it goes.
  21. I have hope that Mary will soon be a fully fledged member of the team and we don't drag this out forever especially as a doctor on the team would be very useful and also give Luke someone else to play off on a more regular basis. I like the fact that she's giving Kate time to tell her though and isn't burning the world down to spite her like Lena. I'm still not on board with Sophie/Batwoman/Kate either. For me there's not enough chemistry there with Kate in either role to warrant them pining for each other for finding an instant connection with Batwoman, although an out superhero would definitely be a draw to in the closet Sophie. I am very glad that we're getting more of her POV than we have been with her mother and coming out to her. It was rough but at least it's done for better or worse. It's something of a before and after moment for everyone that experiences it. She should be suspecting about Kate/Batwoman though. She was basically convinced in early episodes and not only does she have intimate experience with both there's only so many people who have access to that kind of money, technology and training. Interesting that the show is going for a horror vibe with the violence with last week's and this week's especially, though I'm not surprised with August Cartwright around. Those skin masks are just all around creepy. Shudder.
  22. Yeah. It's pretty common on TV for the stable couple who are actually trying to have a baby to go through the "trying" storyline, and the "unexpected surprise" to happen to a couple or person who is shocked and/or not a great time for it. Which is why when I first saw the title I guessed exactly what it would be. This was a pretty good version because it hasn't (yet) gone overboard on the angst or depressing-ness and they're working through this together and not loosing "them" in the process and they're already a family, which. Yes. I assume they'll eventually get pregnant, maybe when they aren't really trying anymore, especially as they've already done the adoption/infertility storyline/jokes with Charles, Genevieve and Nicolaj. It seems like most details we get about their sex life involve elaborate roleplay and on one occasion agreeing to do the "Holt Voice" in the bedroom. 😲 They seem to be freaky and geeky about it, which fits them to a tee.
  23. When I saw the WB/Arrowverse accounts were celebrating IWD I knew this was going to be the pic Arrow used. I really don't understand why they turned E2 up to 11 when she's supposed to be a "hero" now and KC doesn't play layers. I keep trying to forget that episode ever happened. Gah.
  24. I know Rory's rags were expensive but why? We got stuck with NoTeamArrow and we lost the only one of them that had a unique, more spiritual POV on the team/show. Sigh. He and Felicity had a good, if very truncated storyline about Havenrock and how she felt about it this episode and how she was willing to sacrifice herself over it and it continued her darker and also more proactive approach in the back half of S5. Oh and the days when Diggle's demons were actually noticed and used in the plot by the writers and not used to further plot but never fully resolved like in S6&7. I'll never understand what was going on with Susan. There had to have been a ditches storyline there somewhere that didn't happen when WH suddenly needed time off or whatever actually happened. You don't have a character have sex and then go and meet with a PI with photos if she was always supposed to be a "good person". And that's if you ignore the previous plot with Thea and accept that the writers didn't see a reporter sleeping with the man she's covering as massively unethical and problematic on all fronts in the first place. Whilst it was more personal than usual, Dinah got the exposition-y, move the plot along stuff with Oliver that she often got in S7.
  25. The Waverider has the technology to do that and they spent an entire season explaining why Sara couldn't. It was a pretty good arc for Sara along with becoming the Captain but they were determined to neutralise the time traveling sister plot point. This was a pretty good backhalf opener and it kicked off a generally very good 5B. I really enjoyed pro active, take no shit Felicity who starts to get a POV for the first time in S5 and highlights why KC/BS is much better as a villain or at least they should tone down the downright nastiness and superiority if she's supposed to be a BC if the spin off is picked up. I can take it from BS but not someone who's talked more about being a hero than actually been one so far.
