  1. This is strange but last night I was pondering this exact thing. I'm not from a developing country, although my parents were teenagers overseas during WWII, but I also feel almost physical pain at this kind of waste, and the scene you described made me feel terrible. I had to remind myself it wasn't real, and try not to think about the restaurants and supermarkets and caterers who throw out boatloads of excellent food every day. 😔
  2. The Gilded Age is on the very short list of shows whose credits I watch every time just because they're beautiful. I never get tired of the last half of the credits showing the gorgeous marble show title in creation.
  3. Just like the butler will always be Arthur Dent to me, the valet will always be an Observer from Fringe. Maybe it would help if he had hair?
  4. This is true, which makes me think CBB cannot find any decent prospects for this show. No one wants to risk it. I suggest they imitate CBB UK and invite celebrities from other countries. They're slightly more likely to do it since the show doesn't air in their country.
  5. On our news tonight, Canadian, they started talking about a missing toddler who had been found... and I switched it, because I was certain the sentence was going to end... murdered. I'm happy to hear that wasn't the case.
  6. Now there's a show I'd love to watch. From slavery to wealth in one lifetime! How could that not be a fascinating series?
  7. In a staircase? Missing but alive? I can't watch a video right now, can you tell me what happened?
  8. One of my favorite words EVER. It's a new one for me and I love it. I feel it all the time.
  9. I love Bannister. I have such fond memories of him in Hitchhikers and he's a delight here. And he doesn't have to spend this series in his bathrobe! "I haven't been thrilled since 1865." 🤣🤣🤣🤣Agnes is finally starting to grow on me.
  10. Same, even if it's 3 Z-list actors and that gecko from the phone ad. I can't not watch. 😢
  11. Can you please explain what you mean? What is non-identity bias?
  12. I have zero recollection of anyone called Neff! If she was in the book at all, she must not have played a big part. Same goes for Kacy. The scene where Anna sits in her lobby did ring a bell, but the name didn't. I need to reread the book obviously.
  13. Now that I've watched the whole series, after reading Rachel's book, I can say that I thought its depiction of Rachel was fair in how it showed both sides of Rachel's story. On the one hand, Anna treated Rachel terribly. She invited her on a lavish vacation she had no way of paying for, then stuck her with the bill, knowing Rachel couldn't possibly afford it. To me, that was criminal. On the other hand, I felt Rachel really overreacted in many ways, considering Amex eventually forgave the debt, and she ended up making huge amounts of money from the story. Despite this, she kept repeating that it was the worst thing that had ever happened to her. And if this is true, her life hasn't been that bad. The book left me with mixed feelings about Rachel which were well expressed in the last episode.
  14. No doubt she does. I can't fault her for playing such a good game. I guess it's not her fault she isn't that charismatic. I don't dislike her.
  15. Unlike many people, I don't think we were supposed to end the show on Anna's side and against Rachel. Everyone is shown as being a mix of good and bad, but Anna in particular is shown quite clearly to be a sociopath who only cares about herself. Witness the scene where she throws a massive tantrum and holds up court because her clothes were dirty, and she treats her devoted lawyer like garbage. Could she be a LESS sympathic character? Despite this, she still had people who stayed stubbornly on her side, but I believe we're supposed to understand that this is more about them than about Anna, who will always choose herself first. I guess I enjoyed this show so much because I've watched this whole sociopath/victim scenario play out more than once in my own life, sadly without the yachts or designer clothes, and all the complicated dynamics in the show ring true to me, just on a vastly more public level. I'll probably watch the series again soon.
  16. I hope everyone is ready for a Todd/Lamar final two. Can you imagine Lamar's final speech? "Please vote for me to win so Khloe will take me back. Is this going to be on TV? I want pancakes."
  17. I didn't understand either! (I'll go sit over here with Lamar.)
  18. That's the fastest any season has gone from happy to sad. Just one episode. I want to be there when Cynthia and Carson realize they've been bamboozled. I'll never understand Lamar. It's like he's 8 different people.
  19. That's so awkward. Fortunately Shanna seems pretty bulletproof, probably because of her past experiences.
  20. I can't believe Khloe hasn't taken him back! 😝
  21. I'm sure Maverick wasn't talking about us. 😁
  22. It's true. If he was like this for a few hours or a couple of days, I'd think it was for show, but I don't think anyone could fake this for so long. That's what I thought! But they were on YEARS ago. I'm curious to get more info. She was my biggest surprise of the show. Actually, both her and Carson. But in a good way.
